I think that website holds the key to a few perfect gift ideas for new Mums..... subtle hint dropping will have to commence. I have already felt it necessary to remind DH to mention to certain family members that there is a florists on camp that can take calls and Visa cards from the UK and deliver to us. Mercenary? Moi??? I don't know what you mean!!!!

teabelly · 02/03/2005 10:48

LOL Coop - sometimes it pays to be as subtle as a brick, he he he

Mrs W - defo the lindor eggs in the lead, but I am a bit bias to their chocs in general...esp if you allow the centres to warm slightly so they're abit gooey and melt in the mouth....mmmmmmm

Will be moving ds to his new big bed when it arrives next week, hurrah. But since he was about 22mths (now 32mths) he's been in the bed part of the cot bed, as he was climbing out of the cot in the mornings anyway.

Lua congrats on the successful dry night Ds has been dry and nappyless in the day since Jan too Katz, but night-times are hit and miss so I'll wait until we get a run of dry nights before dispensing with those ones.

Katz off to read your link now...I may be gone for some time!

Oh, I haven't been brave about moving DD to a big bed quite yet... Everytime I approach the subject she is adamant that she does not want a bed...
I need to just do it, but I 've been delaying because the bed I want to buy her from IKEA has been out of stock. I guess I need to decide on a new bed soon, or baby will be cribless...

Katz, would you send my DH a "subtle" e-mail with the choc webpage and remind him of mother's day....

katzguk · 02/03/2005 10:52

they've got a special offer on the choc tasting i've just noticed, if you buy it for yourself, ie same billing and delivery address its just 9.95 inc p and p i think that this is well worth a self indulagent spludge!!

cornflakegirl · 02/03/2005 10:57

hi everyone

sorry to take the conversation back so far (can't keep up with you all!) - but can someone tell me what the gym ball is supposed to help with?

mrsflowerpot · 02/03/2005 11:01

I am so jealous of all of you with the chocolate, it's still making me pukey - and I had forgotten that it will be Easter and I will be surrounded by it, it's like a bad dream!

Oh, god, nighttime nappies, ds is nearly 4 and we still haven't gone there. We did do a week before Christmas where he refused to wear one, had 3 dry nights and thought he'd cracked it, but then he just started wetting every night, and the night I changed the bed 3 times between 11pm and 6am I decided I had had enough. Luckily Huggies brought out pullups with buzz Lightyear on them so he agreed to wear them! It was hard getting him dry in the day and we had to take a break with that, so I am refusing to stress about this, it will happen when it happens.

Am seriously considering cloth nappies for this one. Never got round to it with ds. I'm trying to find one of those nappy laundering services that will come out as far as us, otherwise maybe I will just have to stamp my feet and insist on a tumble drier.

Cooperoo · 02/03/2005 11:13

Hi Cornflake girl,
I find the gym ball great for sitting on to make me sit up properly. In the later stages of pregnancy they are great for leaning on while you watch TV and I think this position allows lots of freedom in your tummy and it means the baby has more of a chance to get in a good position ie not back to back as they have room to move. Here is hoping anyway. It seemed to help with dd1.
KVG - An Usborne party is like a Virgin Vie party or Ann Summers party except I sell childrens books not make up or undies. I started it last year for something to do and a way to meet people and it means I have got some bargain books for dd too. I enjoy it but I don't take it too seriously. You can run it like a real job but I am not motivated/pushy enough and so just put up posters and wait to see if anyone calls me. They are quite popular here as you can't just go into a shop with UK books. You will come across them I am sure. I think they also sell Usborne books in the Early Learning Centre now.

Cooperoo · 02/03/2005 11:18

Mrs F - Poor you still feeling sick!! What a nightmare. This thread can't be helping. It is not helping me avoid munching my way through several tonnes of Cadbury's finest! If you want any help with nappies let me know. A tumble dryer is a great help though, but I would say it is a real help with a new baby anyway. I remember LOTS of washing to begin with. We bought a dishwasher too but had to leave it in the UK and I do miss it....

Uki · 02/03/2005 11:37

Hi All
Is anyone one here at the moment this might be my first opportunity to chat live. I just had a crap day at work, one of the parents of the children i teach (i teach adults and kids at an art centre)- complained that i dressed inappropriately. She didn't say it to my face of course, and i feel xxx pissed about it. I think she was refering to the size of my breasts really, (most people seem too) but it's not like i can help that. Anyway i guess i'm now looking forward to maternity leave i hate people that can't tell you someting to your face.

Uki · 02/03/2005 11:43

Also have some catch up comments to make

Teabelly LOL about dh and massage, i have no hope either!!!

Trib- Your flat does sound nightmarish, i live in a terrace house and the neighbour's cigarrette smoke comes across a laneway and directly into my window- i just shut the window really loudly every time and hope he gets the message.

Uwila- I admire you and your short maternity leave, who will look after baby when born?

mrsflowerpot · 02/03/2005 11:43

I don't feel sick all the time, but I've totally totally gone off chocolate . Worse, I like the idea of it, but eating it makes me feel awful. Am making up for it with salt and vinegar crisps!

Uki, what exactly does she want you to wear??? Hard enough having big boobs anyway and being pg with the balloon factor (I am suffering from this!) without having to worry about what you're wearing. Unless you've been going out in a peephole bra of course .

katzguk · 02/03/2005 11:49

i hate it when people stare at my chest too! it not like i chose for things to be tight, i just have big boobs!! i measured them yesterday because i need to buy new bras and discovered that there ia 10 inches difference between my chest and my boobs!!

all this talk of chocolate is 'making' me crave it. I'll just have to go out and get some with my luncheon....all MN fault of course.

It's great being pregnant - the bump actually makes me look slimmer (contrast an all that). Am not thinking about post birth when I still see a bump that is not baby!

Uki - sounds awful being criticised in an underhand way like that....not the kind of stress you need right now

tribpot · 02/03/2005 12:04

What a load of crap, Uki. I thought in Oz everyone went to work in Bermuda shorts and bikini tops (even the boys). Seems very unfair, we are pregnant, our sticky-out bits are not to be questioned!

The constipation fairy seems to have come by for a visit, so I had the most massive bowl of Sultana Bran this morning, I feel like I've put on 10 pounds. Hope it does the trick. I'm making tortilla for lunch following Delia's recipe, so I'm going to stand in the kitchen bellowing drunkenly about Norwich needing an extra man (I will fake the drunkenness of course!)

charleypops · 02/03/2005 12:11

Morning! I've just stuffed 4 slices of jam on toast Haven't had jam on toast for about 13 years! What's going on??

Pleased to see I impressed so many with my chocolate shopping expedition I't so strange to me, I have never had a sweettooth in my life before! Redhead - I blame MN too

Tea - you're like me, I prefer my choc slightly warm and soft

Katz - you're very naughty posting that link

Lua- have you had a look on ebay for junior beds? I have seen quite a few nice ones there.

Cornflake- haven't seen you for ages. Hello!

Uki - Please just ignore that parent. If I ever hear someone slagging another person off for stuff like being/looking induvidual it makes the slagger look pathetic and makes me admire the slaggee even more. She's obviously jealous otherwise it wouldn't occur to her to say anything. IGNORE HER. I ove KVG's suggestion of sticking them in her face!

KVG - my 62 yo dad's just got a computer. My sis had to tell him how to turn it on! He is actively looking for a girlfriend though, but if you come across any decent websites, let me know! My brother is also looking for one and uses mainly Yahoo I think. I suggested night classes for dad too, and after saying no, he thought about it for a few weeks and is now doing a Spanish one. Reckons he's going to buy an apartment in Tenerife!

Lua - well done! I still have to sleep with something round my nether regions - I just feel too draughty otherwise.

Uki · 02/03/2005 12:12

WOW
live comments thanks for sypathising, I mean it is hot, i don't wear a bikini top but maybee have worn the od slightly low cut top, is that that bad??? the suburb i teach in is near the bloody beach so most people wear halter, siglet tops or something with neck showing.

I am just bidding on a cot on ebay exciting!!!
My back still hurts so i think bed is my only option at 11:15pm

charleypops · 02/03/2005 12:12

Trib. Good old Delia!

Uki · 02/03/2005 12:17

Oh have to tell you all,I bought Nutella for the first time ever, so know how you feel Charley, i'm like eating it going why am i eating this, this is weird!!!

This live chatting is fun, now i understand how you can all post so many messages

katzguk · 02/03/2005 12:19

Uki - your in oz right? where abouts? (sorry if you've said before)

charleypops · 02/03/2005 12:19

Isn't it the middle of night there Uki?

Uki · 02/03/2005 12:22

It's now 11:24pm, but i only got home from work at 10:30pm as i teach till late. So it takes a while to wind down especially after bitch womans comments today.

Uki · 02/03/2005 12:25

I am in Sunny Sydney, and we have your (and ours, i guess) engaged prince here at the mo. They are throwing a bucks party for him in Alice Springs tomorrow, with or without him...

charleypops · 02/03/2005 12:26

Uki, you're not going to start dressing differently are you because of her?? I'll come over and bash you if you do

Uki · 02/03/2005 12:37

Goodnight ladies, i'm off to bed now
No Charley i'll try not to buy any new nun's habits for work.

Feel much happier after getting that off my chest can now see the funny side of it.
