I think it's time for a new thread! The old one was getting huge...

myermay, if I decide to go for intervention, I will probably end up at Wexham Park in Slough. It's not my nearest big hospital but it's the one tied to the Ascot hospital. Don't really want my baby born in Slough though Saying that, I know you can get electives in Ascot too. I get to see the midwife 2 weeks today so we will discuss it then. It would be funny if several of us ended up at the same hospital on the same ward at the same time completely unaware. We will have to put little signs up with our MN names on the ends of our beds!

Hi everybody

Just got back from seeing the midwife and all is well, the baby is head down!! Had to take DS with me which was a bit of a nightmare as he wanted to do everything for her, including taking my bloods!! She is coming out on 15th April to discuss the birthplan.

My SIL (who is due on 1st May) has been taken into hospital this morning as her waters broke apparently they are keeping her in for 24 hours to monitor her so fingers crossed everything will be okay. This has made me realise how close it is getting for me and that I need to get my finger out and get organised!!

Tinker · 31/03/2005 17:40

I had midwife apptmt today as well. Little bugger was head down last time but now head is pointing towards my right thigh. Damn, might have to get more active...

Missblossom · 01/04/2005 08:31

Hi all,

Mayermum my kids are 4, 11, 12 and 16.

Ive got a scan this morning followed by my consultant app hopefully he is going to say I can be induced,(fingers crossed) As its April 1st today this is when they spring it on me that there is more than one. My god, I think I`d cry. Any way I know its only one, just on the very large side.

northstar · 01/04/2005 11:59

Hi all, im still around, just not able to post as ds hanging from my arm most of the time - roll on monday morning 9am when playschcool re-opens
Gp told me baby's very BIG yesterday,so back on strict diet for next few weeks and 3 easter eggs with my name on to be eaten sometime in late may. I'm getting very tired during the day now, then not able to sleep at night. Just popping over to the due in april thread for some encouragement now........

Brighteyes · 01/04/2005 12:02

Hi everyone

Woke up today with mixed feelings. I'm going to be having a baby next month. OMG don't know wether to be excited or nervous. All through the pg I thought it has really dragged now with only 6 weeks to go I realise how unprepared I am!!!

northstar · 01/04/2005 12:05

Me too brighteyes, was just the other day I was joining this thread "due may05" and now it is NEXT MONTH!

Weezle · 01/04/2005 13:35

I had exactly the same thought this morning!

Does anyone have any views on nursing bras - when to get fitted and also any good ones to go for? The few that I've seen so far seem pretty sturdy things, and aren't all that nice looking!

fashill · 01/04/2005 13:35

I'm with you guys!! Reality really has hit home now. I can't believe that next month we're going to be parents . Feel almost there with the preparations but then I think about the fact that there will actually be a baby at the end of all this

fashill · 01/04/2005 13:37

Weezle - Apparently you should get fitted in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy as your boobs have a growth spurt! I've already gone up 2 sizes! There are some nice bras in Mothercare and they will do a fitting for you too

uwila · 01/04/2005 13:48

Sorry to be so glum, but if this pregnancy were to end today it wouldn't be soon enough.

SamCattie · 01/04/2005 14:02

uwila I am totally with you there. I CANNOT wait for this pregnancy to end. I have no end of urine infections in the past couple of months and have been on antibiotics. I have been told if I don't take them I can go into early labour and I am due end of May! I have a feeling that I am going to be early, as my belly has been making lots of strange movements recently. I am still at work full time and I am shattered. I just want it all to end...now

Brighteyes · 01/04/2005 14:22

Just come back from midwife appointment. They now need to monitor me on a weekly basis as I have symptoms of pre-eclampsia (high bp and protein in urine). Midwife told me if I get any headaches, blurry vision or swelling I'm to go straight to the labour ward (very alarming). She's sending my urine off for further tests and will assess the situation again next week.

Not really suprised though. I've had such bad luck during this pg. I've ended up in hospital with morning sickness, I've had symptoms of SPD, and now this. Thank god it will all be over next month.

Sorry. Moan over.

fisil · 01/04/2005 18:22

I'm due this month! And I so agree with uwila & Sam - I really cannot wait to get this one on the outside. I asked dp to look after "the children" the other day, and he said "oh, are you leaving that one here too?" I wish!

Maddison · 01/04/2005 18:33

Hi all, wish you were all feeling as well as I do at the moment - apart from backache I feel really good

Brighteyes - I had the same symptoms as you when I was pg with DS and I was told to lie down on my left side to try and lower my BP as this takes some of the pressure off the main aorta. Having said that I did as I was told, when the MW was taking my BP she told me to 'think nice thoughts' so i thought of my DH - and my BP increased!! Needless to say I didn't think of him the next time!

Logic - how are you feeling today?

logic · 01/04/2005 19:40

Better thanks, Maddison. It's the weekend! Time to buy a new car seat base and think about packing the hospital bag.

Only a few weeks to go now. Met up with the antenatal girls for a gossip last night. There are 4 of us due in the next 8 weeks. Scary bit is, my bump is the same size as the girl's who is due next week!

Weezle, I have also been thinking about nursing bras. I went into John Lewis this week and was advised to get nursing bras about 2-3 weeks before your due date (3 weeks max) reason being is that by then your bump should have dropped so they will have more of a true measurement of your "under the bust section?" and the size they get for the cup is then increased by one size to allow for milk. Being a first time mum i'm not sure how accurate this is but suppose it makes sense for me to wait another 3 weeks....That means 6 weeks until Delivery day

Maddison · 03/04/2005 09:29

Thanks for sharing that info Shhh, I was thinking about getting nursing bras this week but won't bother now

logic · 03/04/2005 14:45

Spent the morning looking at baby things in Toys R us! Managed to restrain myself from buying anything except for a few bibs and an extra car seat base, and a head rest for the baby swing - and a plastic garden house for ds. Oops! Had to laugh though, last time round I wouldn't carry anything for fear of hurting the baby. Today, there's me pushing a trolley with a heavy car base in it with one hand and carrying ds on my hip with the other...

23 days to go, and I've got to that stage where everyone greets me with "still here?". So I've got 5 weeks of this! Can't wait for the gov to call the election tomorrow - might sign up to stuff envelopes just to give myself something else to focus on!
