I think it's time for a new thread! The old one was getting huge...

Preggars · 24/03/2005 17:23

I've heard that Brighteyes, but it didn't happen to me.

Tinker · 24/03/2005 17:24

Last time, in hospital, woman opposite came over with a can of chilled stout to share - booze has never tasted so good.

logic · 24/03/2005 18:38

Brighteyes, my feet went up 1 shoe size and stayed up so it's definately true.

I found all the little woollen coats that people knitted for me last time last week. Awww! So cute but I don't think ds wore them much. Too impractical.

Do you think that the hospital will induce me 2 weeks early if I beg hard enough?

Maddison · 26/03/2005 00:14

Hi everybody, hope you're all okay

Logic, when I was pg with DS I asked the consultant to induce me 5 days before he was due as I was so uncomfortable but he said no as it was putting me into risk situations that I didn't need to be in, fortunately I went into labour that same day myself, I think it was the sheer disappointment that set me off!!

1stBump · 26/03/2005 19:30

Hi 1stbump, welcome to MN. I'm due the day before you with my first too . Have you added your details to the May stats thread yet?

Be warned this site can become very addictive

1stBump · 27/03/2005 12:18

Hi Brighteyes, no i havent added my details to the may thread how do i do that?
I know its very addictive, it will be nice to chat with other mums to be.
Do you know what you are having?

fisil · 27/03/2005 19:05

Hi 1stbump (you'll have to change that name soon!)

I've got one month to go!

Brighteyes · 27/03/2005 20:09

1st bump theres a thread called Due May 2005-stats, sorry I'm hopeless at doing links. Maybe one of the others can do the link.

I don't know what I'm having, decided to keep it as a suprise.

Do you know?

1stBump · 27/03/2005 21:14

Hello! Hope you all had a nice easter, lots of choccie always good!
Brighteyes: dont worry i shall have a search and try to find it, im pretty useless too I couldnt wait to find out what i was having was caught up in the moment when having the scan, having a little girl! But then saying that a friend of mine was told she was having a girl, she already has two boys and bought loads of girlie stuff and ended up having another boy so who knows!
Hi Fisil: Oops didnt think of the name - how exciting one month to go, how are you feeling?

logic · 28/03/2005 19:24

Welcome 1stbump...
may stats thread here

Uwila, have you sorted out your elective yet? Can I ask how you went about getting one? Yes, long and depressing story but I am seriously considering it. Advice from anyone else with experience on this would be very welcome also.

Brighteyes · 28/03/2005 21:31

I'm also considering trying to get an elective c-section Logic. Both my sister had to have c-sections due to their size and I'm the smallest of the 3 of us. My bump is really big. I measured it today the same way as the midwife does and I'm already 40cm (as far as I'm aware your bump in centimeteres should be the equivilant of how many weeks you are, therefore I should only be 33cm). Going to discuss it with the midwife on Friday, there's no way I want to go through a really long painful labour only to be told I have to have a c-section anyway. I'm just hoping the midwife will be sympathtic.

myermay, I wouldn't worry about nesting early, I always do too! I'm just feeling fed up because I've had 3 nasty bouts of flu and a throat infection in the last 2 months. I can't bear the thought of dragging this pg out any longer, especially knowing that I will go at least 10 days late naturally! It would mean that I could have my tubes clipped at the same time. I don't get to see the midwife for another 2 weeks though so I can't even discuss it with her and see if she can do anything to make me healthier in the meantime...

Morning Ladies and WELCOME 1stBump!

Well, first day back at work today, and being the MN addict that I am, just wanted to quickly check this thread.

DH decorated the nursery on Saturday and it looks lovely! It's amazing what a lick of paint and a freeze can do. We've repositioned the room and and I've put all the girlie baby bits in the new tallboy wardrobe. I'm 32 + 2 today, so I can start to see the end at the light of the tunnel. I have just 11 days of work to do (as work part-time, actually finish on 22 April).

My 2 years DS was diagnosed with Whooping cough at the hospital at the start of last week, and thank God he is finally stopping coughing (I've gone on about this in a health thread), but I have been so tired looking after him and having broken sleep since, well Christmas. He has slept nromally in his bed, through the night now, since Friday... so am now once again feeling human.

Hoorah...

Poshpaws · 29/03/2005 10:42

Hi all. Been away from MN for a bit but am now back. Welcome newbies.

DH has nearly finished painting Ds' new room (had to include a pink wall - don't ask (DS' fave colour at the mo), but the other walls are blue and yellow (thank god).

Baby cooking along nicely. Have 5 more weeks left at work (boo) but have already washed some of the baby clothes (hoorah).

Although having a home birth, I need to make up a hospital bag just in case. Can anyone remember what goes in one (wouldn't believe this is my 2nd, would you )

Preggars · 29/03/2005 10:56

I'll pack:

*Disposable Nickers (will by cheapies from Asda as suggested in this thread, as paper pants are pretty horrid)
*Breast Pads
*Super Dooper Maternity Pads x 4 packets)
*Newborn Nappies and Wipes
*5 baby all-in-ones
*Baby coming home outfit
*Change for Phone
*Shower Gel, and Face Cream
*Lip Balm, Evian Face Spray (for birth)
*Track Suit and PJs for me
*Dark Long T-Shirt for Birth (to hide blood - eek)
*Dark Towel and flannel (ditto - eek)
*Snacks for Dad (for Birth)
*Camera and Video (Ditto)

Poshpaws · 29/03/2005 11:03

Thanks preggers. Some of those things I remember from last time, although I forgot a change of clothing for me!!!

TBH I'm hoping I will not need it because homebirth will go very smoothly, but you never know....

Preggars · 29/03/2005 11:05

Did you have a homebirth last time?

Poshpaws · 29/03/2005 11:18

Nope. Had a perfect hospital birth (with mobile epi ) but that was 3.5 years ago and it is amazing how muh you forget.

I was at home for the vast majority of the labour last time, though, which has encouraged me to give HB a whirl this time.

Preggars · 29/03/2005 11:44

Sounds marvellous. Think my hubbie would get into a hell of a tizz though!!

fashill · 29/03/2005 12:54

Hello all!!!

Had a lovely break, although didn't stop and didn't do half the things I was planning to do! Playing with the new car has been fun too!! So much boot space for the little ones stuff and mummy's shopping

Poshpaws - (and anyone else who's experienced it!) would you recomend the mobile epidural?!? Am quite opposed to having a normal epidural but don't know alot about this one (about to discuss it at my NCT classes)

Had some really strong braxton hicks contractions yesterday and started panicking that this might be it too early. Ended up subsiding though. Hope I'm not going to be like that too often.

Poshpaws · 29/03/2005 12:59

Hi Fashill. I recommend the mobile epi, although when I had it, it seemed a bit of a fallacy as I still had to have my legs in stirrups.
But I was able to move my legs, as only my pelvis area was numbed and I had no after effects.
