I think it's time for a new thread! The old one was getting huge...

Yup, cant beat half a dozen big (relatively speaking) black cotton knickers- those paper things are YEUGGGGGGGH!
There's enough ugliness going on down there after the birth.

Tinker · 23/03/2005 11:21

I found my paper knickers from last time. Never used them then, won't this time

fisil · 23/03/2005 11:41

Ah no, I think paper knickers are super sexy!

Hi Alux. I'm late April too (but assume I'll be late!). I'm 26th - what about you? You're a teacher too, aren't you? Have you started mat leave yet?

alux · 23/03/2005 11:45

I am 24th april. I start mat leave tomorrow in practice but with the hols, officially, Sunday 10th April.

I am home today as I have horribly swollen feet and can just hobble around the house. I am planning to go in tomorrow to finish tying up loose ends. Thursday is not a heavy teaching day for me as Weds are. (I would not have survived to lunchtime today.)

northstar · 23/03/2005 11:47

ok lets organise a mass donation of all unwanted paper knicks to fisils house Do you like the stretchy brown net curtain ones or just paper?

fisil · 23/03/2005 11:56

Only the pure white ones - like me!

northstar · 23/03/2005 11:58

OOOOOH! that rules me out then - none of those in northstars house

fisil · 23/03/2005 12:01

lol

fashill · 23/03/2005 15:16

I still have a lovely vision of my best mate from 2 years ago when I went to visit her after the birth of her DD, sitting there naked except for her paper knickers (we're very close!) she looked very attractive!! So I think I may go for the cheap black knicker option!

May be a silly question but is there any chance I'll be able to wear thongs after?!?

LittleB · 23/03/2005 15:48

I think cheapo black knickers sound alot better than paper knickers - wouldn't you just rustle lots! Not sure about thongs with maternity pads though Fashill .

fashill · 23/03/2005 16:13

Didn't think about that one LittleB, brain's going to mush!! Just thinking about whether it'll be painful.

Don't know about all of you but can't wait for this weekend. Got lots to do but just looking forward to not being at work. Getting a new car delivered too as my little Ka isn't going to be big enough any more (boo hoo as I'm quite attached). It is exciting though as a new toy to play with!!

Looking forward to gorging on chocolate too!

The paper knickers I had were really quite soft (and sexy - did I already mention that?)

alux · 23/03/2005 19:26

Myermay, that is carpal tunnel syndrome. Some people get it when pg. It is probably to do with water retention pressing on the nerves in your wrist. It can get painful.

shhhh · 24/03/2005 10:28

Oops.... I never even thought about the colour of knickers for after the birth! I have gone an bought 2 packs of knickers from Asda as I haven't heard nice things about disposable ones.....they are cheap at £2.50 for 5 pairs! But being quite a girly person and not being able to wait to get into some nice underwear (Obviously by the sounds of things this won't happen until about 6 mths after baby is born LOL I have bought pink and lilac coloured ones...Oh well pregnancy brain defo was on full power when I bought them!

logic · 24/03/2005 11:03

I have bought the asda 5 packs of knickers too Shhhh. Don't care about the colour if I am going to throw them anyway! I have told dh that I am going to be spending all his money in Ann Summers buying pretty underwear when I am back in shape

Thanks for the tips about the cheap asda nicnocs, bought paper ones last time and they are really nasty!

MyerMay, I have had pins and needles in one leg and arm for the last few nights. Thought it was because I had awoken on my back as probably starving my limbs of oxygen !

Brighteyes · 24/03/2005 12:53

logic I'm determined to buy some gorgeous expensive underwear after having the baby along with a pair of red or dead high heels and a double vodka.

Hello everyone
All well here, just tired as usual, and my legs feel like tree trunks. I'm starting to feel very impatient and am secretly hoping that she is early. Not this early because we've still got stuff to do, but may be a week or so early...
On the stuff to do list, I will be heading into town this weekend to invest in big pants, and all the stuff we have been told to get in for a home birth, also stuff for hospital birth in case things don't go to plan. We also have to sell the car - anyone interested (or know anyone who would be interested) in a lovely blue mini in the Bristol/Bath area?! Am gutted to be selling it, but the boot is the size of a shoe box so we don't have much of a choice

shhhh · 24/03/2005 13:33

Ha ! I'm also planning on getting some nice undies after baby is born and I can at least see my toes among other things Was in La Senza yesterday and I admired a few pairs but thought "There's no point geting them now as I can't even see my bits let alone poor hubby, not the most attractive of times" !!
But I wouldn't change it for the world, at least it means all is going well with little baby.
I also think that I deserve a pair of nice high shoes for after the birth, seen a pair in schuu (?) and think I deserve them esp as I have gone from being a heel queen (no choice at 4ft 11in) to flat shoes ! Never worn flat shoes since I was 10 !!

Preggars · 24/03/2005 14:08

I found I couldn't get used to wearing heels again after I had my son... but like anything, practice makes perfect. Funny enough, had absolutely no trouble drinking wine though. I had to wait for a while to get properly stuck in as I b/fding for 6 months, so by the time my body was my own I was gasping to add some good old toxins to it!!

Walked past Karen Millen yesterday and there was a gorgoeous outfit in the window. Didn't bother going in but will keep this is my mind for after the baby... one needs treats doesn't one!!

logic · 24/03/2005 15:55

Ooooh yes, a post bfing triple baileys with ice. We can dream can't we? Really need one now truth be told. Having an atrocious day generally. My body has suddenly become twice the size it was last week but my weight hasn't gone up so it must be water. Every sleeping position is equally agonising and I've just broken down in tears after catching ds making a banana milk puddle on our bedroom carpet. The PILs kindly whisked him off for the afternoon for me to have a nap. Is anyone else having this kind of 1st trimester tiredness? I was hoping that this stuff wouldn't start yet...

OP posts:
Preggars · 24/03/2005 16:51

I'm tired too Logic, but DS is unwell, so don't know if its that or final trimester stuff.

Can't believe it's final trimester already. I only have 11 days to work (as work part-time - it's actually 4 weeks).

DH is decorating the nursery this week. How exciting!!

Brighteyes · 24/03/2005 17:22

Shhh there was me thinking I was the heel queen. I love my heels and have been lost without them. Wore them to the stage where my bump was making me lose balance and I had to resort to flats for safety reasons. Being only 5 ft everyone has been really shocked to find out how really short I am without my heels.
Am dying to go shoe shopping but have been told that you can go up a shoe size during pregnancy and will remain the additional size even after having the baby. Anyone know if this is true?
