I think it's time for a new thread! The old one was getting huge...

It's a nightmare to be stuck in dark colours when the shops are full of gorgeous spring/summer clothes in pink, lightblue, lightgreen etc etc...
Tried a few bits on but they're NOT for pg women
BUT..............
Would be a worse nightmare to want a baby and the streets be full of pg women........We are so lucky really.

uwila · 15/03/2005 10:06

I figure I'm fat no matter what I wear. Can't really be fussed about the colors. I just try to look forward to getting back into shape after baby arrives and wearing some normal clothes. But, then 3 months might be abit optimistic. Oh well, I'l get a nice Chrismas outfit then.

Just ate a tasty ham and cheese croissant. That probably didn't help much.

Preggars · 15/03/2005 10:08

Definately agree, very lucky to be pregnant. Most likely to be my last too, so will make the best of the bump while I can

Would love a sticker announcing baby on board. A lady (always ladies isn't it) gave up her seat for me the other day and said that when she visited Australia and went on a bus, seats are always given up for pregnant, elderly, in fact, kids give up seats for adults. How very civilised. I mostly get a seat though, so am very lucky really.

Getting lots of kicks at the moment. This little lady seems a lot busier than my DS did. He just got hiccups all the time. It was hilarious. My Mum couldn't believe it. He is a guzzler too, absolutely loves him bedtime milk.

SamCattie · 15/03/2005 10:15

Well looks like I am sold on a steam steriliser then! WIll have to get one today I think..
On a slightly more personal note, is anyone having trouble in going to the 'toilet'? I am sorry to ask but I am constantly constipated and then when I go I feel like crying as it hurts so much. Sorry to be so personal!!

Preggars · 15/03/2005 10:18

Mmm. love cheese at the moment. Now I'm hungry!

Being preggars is liberating on the food front though isn't it.

I found after my first I lost weight very quickly - as I was running around like a nutter and b/fing. After just five weeks I was merely 3lb over my start weight. But, then.. I lulled myself into a false sense of security and started buying Chunky kitkats on the way walking into town, the hot sausage rolls
on the way walking back. Sure enough, after another 5 weeks I had gained half a stone which I managed to keep on...

logic · 15/03/2005 11:52

Yes, we are all really lucky. There are some people on the ttc threads that have been trying for a very long time...

Preggars, I'm having a girl and she kicks far more than ds used to - and she never has hiccups and ds used to get them constantly! Maybe it's the first gender difference

It did take me 9 months to a year to get down to an acceptable weight again and I was left with a couple of extra pounds that I couldn't be bothered to starve myself over but this time, I am determined to lose it all!

OP posts:
Preggars · 15/03/2005 12:12

Yep, I will be aiming to shed everything as I last time I new I'd be getting bigger again, and semi couldn't be bothered! But as this will be my lasy and I'll be turning 30 next year also, I will need to make a concerted effort.

Will enjoy the guilt free chocolate until then though!!!

I used to get heartburn with DS also, and haven't had it this time. My DS is an absolute clone of my DH, so I am wondering if this little girlie is like me - god help her!!!

Missblossom · 15/03/2005 12:57

Hi there,
Can I join in, Ive just joined mn.
I`m expecting baby no. 5 on May 16, just under 9 weeks to go. Seeing my consultant on Friday, going to beg him to induce me as very large for dates, measuring 37 cm top to bottom.

Weezle · 15/03/2005 13:14

Hello everyone
Thanks for all the feedback on the Snickers bars, and sorry for the delay responding but our computer at home seems to have packed up so I am posting this from work. Only another 4 weeks and 3 days to go before my mat. leave starts. Not that I'm counting ...

Glad to know that other people have hiccupy bumps too - mine seems to have hiccups pretty much every day (usually in the evening) and they seem to go on for ever. Lord only knows what the bump must make of it!

Preggars · 15/03/2005 13:24

You are very much welcome Missblossom.

Wow - Baby No.5. How do your pregnancies compare?

I had a read through the thread of thos is March, half of them had had the babies and half of them still waiting and trying out all the old wives tales. Made me excited about doing this for all us May to be Mums!

Weezle · 15/03/2005 13:35

I read the March thread too and got all overexcited! Everyone keeps telling me that the last few weeks go very quickly, but they seem to be dragging at the moment!

Sorry - I meant to say hello to Missblossom in my last message - very rude of me! Hope all is going well with no.5

Preggars · 15/03/2005 13:42

I'm not the only one gatecrashing other threads then

logic · 15/03/2005 14:09

Welcome Missblossom!

Can I ask everyone's opinions about a name? If it's a girl we want to call the baby Francesca which we both love BUT my only concern is that it doesn't really have a short version that I like. I suppose the options are Fran or Frank/Frankie or possibly Ces pronounced "chess". The latter is my current favourite but does it sound weird? Will people assume that her name is Jess? Any opinions gratefully received.

OP posts:
Tinker · 15/03/2005 14:11

Like Francesca and think Fran is a cool name for a woman

Preggars · 15/03/2005 14:35

We had a Francesca at school and we called her Frankie. She was one of the popular bunch, and I always liked her name.

uwila · 15/03/2005 15:01

I like Frankie, and Fran is nice too (but I like Frankie better). But, I am a frim believer that you can not control what other people choose to call your child. For example, my sister named her son Oliver, and swore blind that no one would ever call him Ollie. Wrong! Oliver was actually the middle name. So when people started saying Ollie, she changed it to the first name. So, I think if you don;t like Fran or Frankie, that you might end up rather disappointed when you discover all her friends call her such.

I think they are all nice, but the question is do you? And, yes, Ces "Chess" will require countless explanations and spellings. Again, nothing wrong with that if it doesn't bother you.

Preggars · 15/03/2005 15:18

I like Ces, but agree, if you have to explain then could be a nightmare for the child, until they are an adult, when Ces will be very cool. This was advice was given to me by two friends with unusual names who both hated them as children, but love them as an adult.

logic · 15/03/2005 15:35

Thanks! Dh says that she will probably end up being called Frankie at school too which I don't mind.

OP posts:
welshmum · 15/03/2005 15:49

Just popping in - she might get Frannie - which I think is nice.

Preggars · 15/03/2005 15:53

If you pick the shortening that you like, then you can make that stick. I haven't shortened our sons name, and no-one else has yet either.

My mum didn't want my DB's name shortened, and told his playmates, and no-one has ever shortened it (he's a James and my Mum didn't want him to be known as Jim or Jimbo).

flyingdog · 15/03/2005 16:02

Hello,
Can I join in please - I've been reading this thread for the last hour and found it packed full of really useful help and information - so thanks everyone. I'm having my first baby (due 22 May) and am very nervous/excited, so love the idea of sharing experiences with other 'Mums' to be who are at the same stage as me. I've tried to be very organised and get everything done early - also I can't stop looking at all the newborn baby grows I've brought - so cute.

uwila · 15/03/2005 16:07

Hi Flyingdog,
I am due 29 May. But as I am requesting a planned c-section (had an unplanned one last time), they tend to do it one week early, and that brings me to 22 May. So, we could "pop" on the same day. Where are you having your baby? I'm going to Queen Charlotte in Fulham/Hammersmith. But, I live in Sunury, so I have a bit of a trek to get there.

Maddison · 15/03/2005 16:11

hi everybody and welcome missblossom

sorry i haven't been on for a while, have been busy 'nesting'!i am knackered now, although my house is clean and i can relax a little bit now!!

Are you planning on shortening the name logic? If so I would choose now what I would prefer the shortened name to be and use it when the baby is born, for example, my ex boss called her daughter Victoria but didn't want anyone to call her Vicky, so she shortened it herself to Tori. I like Frankie, round here it is not a popular name and that's what i like! We plan on calling our ds2 Bailey, which NOBODY seems to like except us! As my mam reminds us every now and again, baileys is the name of a drink (quite a nice one aswell and the name debate caused a little bit of friction at a night out a few weeks ago - DH and I got sick of people sticking their oars in so basically told them that it's our kid, not theirs and also reminded them that nobody liked ds1's name (Dylan) when he was born - even my mam agrees he now wouldn't suit anything else!

uwila · 15/03/2005 16:14

Oh, apologies for my shameful manners. Welcome Missblossom.

flyingdog · 15/03/2005 16:15

Hi uwila,
I'm having mine in Chippenham/Bath (SW), I'm hoping it'll be natural, everything is ok so far - but you never know. I just can't wait to get it all over with - feeling huge etc and not able to eat much except chocolate (Giant Buttons). Nice to see loads of others have the same chocie addiction.
Do you have to have a C-section if you've had one before?
