Hatty just wanted to add my best wishes. Fingers crossed that your dh finds something soon.

mibbes I have five younger brothers and sisters and remember my mum always put nappies on the babies back to front. She said they worked better that way!

Welcome Kimberly! Effie are you still thinking of going to that Oxfam thing on Thurs? I was thinking of going since I live quite close to where they're doing it and am free on Thurs. Not sure if I'm brave enough to be videoed in my giant state though!

EffiePerine · 15/09/2008 21:09

Hello Kim . We're having a meet-up this Friday near Victoria if you're interesting in coming along.

Pixsix: am still planning to do the Oxfam thingy although hoping to be able to hide benhind someone more interesting on the day

pixsix · 15/09/2008 21:21

Kimberly1979 · 15/09/2008 22:02

Veggiemummy · 15/09/2008 22:09

effie i'm not sure who she rents it through, there is one agent in the area called Wes something or other and they have maroon & blue signage, i have never used them but apparently a nice family run agents (sorry thats a bit vague) we also have a London place that we are renting out while up here and we rent it privately, we found our lovely tenants through advertising on Gumtree. we mainly did that to save the money and also DH had rented and sold a London place before and found the real estate did more harm than good, basically completely useless and caused some very costly problems.

i remember when preg with DS i didnt think much about the post birth bit cos i am a peadiatric nurse so thought it would all be fine and easy for me. then a month before he was born we did our NCT class and in that we had a clock face that we had to fill with what we thought we would do in a day, i did mine 6 feeds, nappy changes, and baths etc. I finished it was a little shocked about how much time the baby took up but thought it looked do-able until the instructor pointed out that i had not put in any meal breaks for myself, all of a sudden it hit me just how much my life was going to change. I went home and had a major panic. but in the end you have days where you think you are a born mother, super organised and potentially capable of writing parenting books and then the next day you dont get out of your pyjamas barely drink any fluid let alone eat and feel like you are going to ruin this precious little human beings life causing it all sorts of psychological damage. But in the end you won't you can do it and you are the exactly the mum your baby needs.

hi kim welcome.

JamInMyWellies · 16/09/2008 08:48

Seriously dont panic about it. I was a nanny before I had DS and in my last job there had been a newborn so everyone thought I would find it a doddle. I was uber organised all the time and had a bit of a super nanny tag. Then along came Archie and it absoloutley threw me the 24/7 thing that he was actually mine and that I was the sole provider of his nutrition etc took a few wks but we got there everyone does and remember you always have us lot to come and panic with or discuss your triumphs of which there will be many.

Beans33 · 16/09/2008 09:28

Welcome kim - and hopefully see you on Friday. I'm slightly uncertain now if I can make it - purely because I'm STILL not better from my cold and now have a sore throat to boot. Lemsip here I come. But fingers crossed it will have shifted by then! I can't take MORE time off work, I had a whole week last week!

I had my first night of constant weeing last night. I mean, I usually do one in the middle of the night, but last night - FIVE! I couldn't belive it! am now exhausted as a result!

Crikey, it does all sound quite daunting managing to fit own life in around the baby's. Am definitely going to try and sleep at the same time it does - apart from when I need to wash or eat!!! Lordy. How does everyone cope??!!

welcome kimberley hope to see you on Friday!

Beans33 · 16/09/2008 10:00

Yes, good idea, turnip on the drinking less after 6pm. The problem is that I just get so thirsty! Does anyone else? Honestly, sometimes I can actually feel myself getting almost panicky because I need a drink (of water, not wine!) Very strange feeling.

Beans33 · 16/09/2008 10:32

Oh, I've got a lovely new work top on. I really am very keen on it - plus I got a little Mumsnet discount, but it's great: I love it!

And actually does look really smart. I popped it on in the loo as was looking quite scruffy and came out all proud. Hadn't noticed I'd left the label in it sticking out the back. Oops!

Congrats LadyT and good luck on the next bit! Also, thanks for the encouragement Verso. I did have some refreshers and another go a few years ago, but really must get my act together....

Welcome Kim!

emmanbump · 16/09/2008 11:30

Welcome Kim

Had my first panick last night. Been getting tummy and back pains for a few days on a off and last night they both happened at the same time and lasted quite a few hours. Started to worry myself as I'm a first timer. Spoke to Midwife this morning who was very good and reassuring. Not been at work long but might celebrate the fact that all is well with a chocky bar shortly.

artichokes · 16/09/2008 11:33

Morning all

Hatty - it sounds like you have a lot of stress to deal with at the mo. I hope things look a little brighter this morning .

Mibbles - this morning my GP thought this baby may be breech but she was not sure. As it was def breech at my 20 weeks scan I am getting slightly worried and am going to start doing some of the optimum feotal positioning stuff. It might be something you want to look at too - try Googling it.

Waiting - Lol re your friend and FB. Any more recent updates. In the earlish stages of my labour with DD I was texting away with updates to all my friends. It kept me busy and distracted and I liked to think of them all excited for me. However, there was no way I was still up to that kind of activity by 7cms! Hats off to your friend.

Kim - Hi and welcome. I am London based too but West.

LadyT - Congrats .

London Girls - I am afraid I am going to miss yet another meet-up. I am busy this Friday with a baby shower for a friend. Maybe I will make the one the week after.

Not much news to report. I saw the GP this morning and my BP was normal!!! (that is the first normal reading since my 8 week appointment). The baby is measuring 28 weeks which is bang on and everything seemed fine (except that she thought it might still be breech). I am going to try and spend more time on my hands and knees rather than lounging around on my back as I really, rally don't want a c-section. DH and I also went to view a new house today. It was perfect, my dream property. I loved it sooooo much. It is on the market for £200k above our price range but the agent thinks the market is so poor we might still have a chance. Seems unlikely though as we still have not sold ours so in fact nothing is in our price range. I want to move so badly, I know I am going to do nothing but fantisise about that house all day...

Veggiemummy · 16/09/2008 11:39

goodmorning all, i am so shattered lately but lovely DH is working from home and let me sleep in til 10am!!!! so see it is still possible after kids to have long lie ins. I have to say still feeling abit out of it, i think i may have a little virus, my muscles and gums are a bit achey and that sometimes happens whe i have a cold.

I have preggars lady yoga this afternoon, i have been off tara for a few weeks as DS has been on holidays from nursery but a prenatal class has started up nearby and it would be nice to do the yoga i a class again instead of just at home alone. Also nice to meet other local preggars ladies.

SummerLightning · 16/09/2008 11:41

Hi all,
Welcome to Kim you are sorted on here living in London, lots of Londoners about!

Hatty sorry to hear about all your troubles, must be particularly hard when more than one thing goes wrong at the same time like that .. I also have the waking up in the night worrying about everything thing. It is never so bad in the morning, but I don't have much to worry about in the grand scheme of things at the moment! Just the usual!

LadyT well done on the test. I did my theory test for my motorbike test a couple of years ago, the hazard perception did seem easier in the exam to me as well! But I never got round to passing the practical and now it has expired....grrrr...can drive though (took me 4 times to pass though, tee hee). A friend of mine has a license but doesn't drive and we are trying to persuade her to take some refreshers as think it will be really useful to drive when her baby arrives (she is pregnant too). She likes cycling and walking everywhere but I think that may not be so fun when you have a baby and it's raining and you want to get out of the house and where you want to meet someone is an hours walk away!

Wg I have seen a few people updating facebook statuses with birth information. Always think it is a bit odd if it's detailed though, but can be quite funny! I haven't even put anything on my facebook about being pregnant!! As I think it's a weird way of telling people, but maybe I should as there are lots of people that don't know and I can't be bothered to tell them all individually. On a similar note my friend, high on gas and air, apparently rang her builder and said "Hello, it's X, I'm 9cm dilated, when are you going to finish my kitchen!!" Apparently her DH was trying to stop her and she was embarrassed afterwards! But I think the builder got a move on, so it had the desired effect.

Beans I have to wee a lot in the night too , and I don't even drink that much. I am quite good at going back to sleep though so it doesn't bother me too much!

Veggiemummy · 16/09/2008 11:44

oh Arti good luck with the house i'll have fingers and toes crossed for you.

SummerLightning · 16/09/2008 11:46

Veggie I got the Tara dvd on everyones recommendations on here, then left it in the DVD player on holiday!! Grrr, am going to have to buy it again, as apparently the owners of the chalet will be the next to go out there and that won't be for a month. I guess I can flog one copy!

Beans33 · 16/09/2008 11:48

Veggie - I'm off to preggy yoga tonight as well. Would be good to meet local people, but I go completely shy at the end and don't speak to anyone! It's odd. I'm normally quite chatty to people, but can't quite bring myself to be at the end of these. No good at launching myself in - pathetic!

Arti - ooh, what's the house like - dream on here!

Off to loo. 4th time in 3 hours. the beast is kicking me in the bladder!

artichokes · 16/09/2008 11:58

Beans - You are going to regret asking that! Its a newly refurbished Victorian semi. 3 floors, 5 beds (2 ensuite). Very light throughout. Huge open plan eat-in kitchen with glass doors onto a lawned garden (not big but OK for London). Lovely big sitting room with wood buring stove. The whole place is immaculately finished. Gorgeous wooden floors, stunning bathrooms with massive shower heads and huige baths. All Farrow and Ball type paint jobs, antique reclaimed radiators, original features all restored, Smeg kitchen appliances. 2 mins from Tube station and 5 mins from lovely local park. Only 5 mins from our current house so still near all my friends. Only downside is it is not in the catchment area of our lovely local primary. But I love it sooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

SummerLightning · 16/09/2008 12:00

Arti that house sounds idyllic!!! Fingers crossed and good luck!

kmp1 · 16/09/2008 12:00

wow Arti sounds delightful!! (and expensive!) Where exactly are you?????? Well done!
