Is piles a little sort of bubble down below? I've had it twice, the first time I thought it was because I had cut myself when I was shaving, but I'm sure the second one didn't come up any time close to when I was shaving. They were both itchy and a bit sore to touch (one bled when I wiped it once TMI!) but I never quite had the guts to get a mirror out and look to see what they looked like!

Morning all
Another friday here we come. Who will be next I wonder?
Welcome to the new folk .
GOSH I cant believe you are all baking it puts me to shame . I really cant be bothered making my kitchen a mess as its gleaming at the mo. Anyway, I have no appertite with my excessive heartburn. I only managed 2 slices of pizza last night, very dissapointing. Apart from that all great really, just a waiting game for us.
I think I might just go with the flow with regards to my placenta. I cant remember delivering one at all last time . I must of had one but I guess the midwives took care of all of that. Have a happy friday folks x

Milkbeard, trust me, it is a giant bra of doom!

V impressed with the carrot cake recipe, will give it a go later once I've munched my way through some of the vast quantity of fridge cake!

biglips · 29/08/2008 09:49

awwwww come and read how well Johnworf's LO is doing and she is now 12 weeks old....she is looking so well

MunkiMom · 29/08/2008 09:55

lol hopefully! i'm thinking i will make the carrot cake but divide between smaller pans so i can freeze a couple ....actually, i think i'll back them in the little tin loaf pans instead. ((easier to eat)) muwahwah. this recipe should freeze very well. hmmm....perhaps take a little frozen loaf to the hospital so its thawed later on?

ds1 (not ds11 lol) "let" me sleep til 750 this morning. and considering that i couldn't get to sleep very well last night (i think i last looked at the clock at 3am) the little lay in was nice.

my belly just could not get comfy at all! it felt like it weighed a ton!! and i remember waking up this morning remembering every bit of a dream...so, the vivid pregnancy dreams seem to have returned.

Anyone have any nice plans for the weekend?

lollipopmother · 29/08/2008 10:29

Munki - I'm with you on the vivid dreams, the last two nights I have had really vivid ones. I had really bad bump strain last night, a really harsh sort of stitch all along the left side and bottom of my bump, I think it's just the ligaments finally giving up the ghost with carrying round so much weight! I was really uncomfortable in the night and had a mammoth 'pregnancy/labour' dream, eeeekk!

lollipopmother · 29/08/2008 10:32

Hopefully - Don't worry about getting your book down for the soup, I think I've found the recipe through Google - Chilled Roasted Tomato Soup by Nigel Slater from Taste of My Life?

becaroo · 29/08/2008 10:32

Hello all...re: the natural third stage question...I have done a lot of research on this and I have decided to go natural this time.

I had the injection last time but that involved lots of very vigourous tugging from the midwife and surprise surprise I retained some placenta. I got an infection and had to have antibiotics. I have also since found out that retained placenta is one of the big causes of milk not coming in (as mine didnt) and milk supply problems so I am not having it this time unless it is needed i.e. excessive bleeding.

Had the most awful pain in my right lower abdomen last night when I turned over in bed....hoping it was muscluar! Baby moving this morning so think all is ok. Was worried it might be the placenta?

Any news from poxtola????

becaroo · 29/08/2008 10:37

...and yes to the piles question too!

foxytocin · 29/08/2008 10:41

becaroo:

i developed them, well, one, after dd's birth the last time.

if eating right now, don't read further.

this time, i guess the same one made an early appearance. One day in the shower when I knew i had a clean bum , i had a feel and pressed it gently back into my bottom. Oh the relief. No problems since with it and it has been at least 2 weeks.

on a happier note, midwife rang a short time ago and said she will deliver the home birth kit today. yippee.

MunkiMom · 29/08/2008 10:42

yikes!! seems alot of us have had belly discomforts over last couple nights!!

im hoping its just what lolli says, as well! just the body feeling the weight of it all.
((as excited as i am to meet ds2 and sleep on my belly again , i'd really like for this one to hold out for as long as possible! at least for him to wait til 2nd week of september!))

hope im not tempting fate!

ninja · 29/08/2008 11:34

I get the vivid dreams too - I keep dreming about people from the past and then googling them to see what they're doind, it's very strange.

Last time I dreamed that I gave birth to and breastfed kittens , so not THAT odd this time

It mkes it all fel real being on this thread. Midwives came at the wrong time yesterday (as I was having hair cut) - due this am (although there's not much of that left) I just want to come and tell me about homebirths.

Bit worried though as I've just had my boolds back and they say my platelets are low - this is the first reading I've had for these as first time they cliumped so had to have them done in a green bottle, then they clotted cos mw didn't shake them, now they're low (but not done in special bottle). I hope they don't tell me I can't have a hb as I I think they've just made a mess of taking them! (happened last time too). Anyone know anything about platelets?

mustsleep · 29/08/2008 11:42

morning all

think i may be slightly hormonal today have just been sat on the kids bedroom floor crying cos the bloody vac is blocked again - dysons never loose suction my arse!!!

speaking of being uncomfortable i have woken this morning and can bearky move my legs they feel like they have come away from my pelvis which can;t be good!!!

hopefully · 29/08/2008 11:47

Lollipop, that's the one, although we had it warm because I'm not a big fan of chilled soup. Was v yummy warm, am sure cool would be good too!

Mustsleep my parents invested in a dyson, and despite keeping up with (horrendously expensive) filter changes, they were back to their old 10 year old hoover within a couple of years!

TMI coming - just attempted perineal massage. It's not nice! Messy and uncomfortable, and probably won't do anything as am due in under 2 weeks, but read somewhere that it's also good as it gets you used to the sensation of baby's head on perineum, so you don't panic and try to push it out too quickly when it happens.

digitalgirl · 29/08/2008 12:41

My last day answering work emails. And hardly ANY have come in today! Woohoo!!

DH has put all dried foods for the hospital into a special bag, so I can no longer 'pick' at the chocolate.

foxy tried popping them back in, just seem to pop back out again the next time. Oh god this is embarrassing

Think I might have a snooze now...was up 6 times last night for an hourly wee. Surely I won't be getting up that often with the baby?

hopefully · 29/08/2008 12:45

DG just think of it as practise for the baby - I am concerned that I am not waking at all at night, and it's all going to come as a hideous shock. I swear, I have the bladder of steel.

Something that is really annoying me at the moment - FIL decided long ago that this baby is a boy (we've not found out, and I have no 'feeling' one way or another), and every time we see or speak to him, he says 'how's the boy?' For some reason this drives me insane (irrational pregnant woman? Me?) and if it comes out and is a boy he's just going to be sooooo annoying with his 'feeling'. I have no idea why this is annoying me so much. Am completely unreasonable.

carrieon · 29/08/2008 12:58

Afternoon chatterboxes! I had my lovely leg and bikini wax this morning, and tonight we're off to our posh hotel, can't wait!! And dd has slept brilliantly for the last two nights so I'm hopeful that she won't give her grandma too much trouble...although she had a mighty mighty tantrum when we took her home from the swings today!
Oh to have the time and the energy to bake...
I also remember very little about the placenta. I'd said I wanted to do it naturally if I'd had no intervention, but since things went a bit crazy at the end last time, I had the injection. I remember the placenta blobbing out, but can't remember having any contractions, or the midwives really bothering me over it - I was getting on with meeting dd. So I'll def go for injection again, although I do understand reasons people don't want to. I'm of the mindset that I want the baby to have its checks and for the placenta bit to be over so that then when we get the baby its for keeps! Silly I know.
Better go and entertain my mother...she is doing us a huge favour this weekend after all!!
And enjoy those last few hours at work digital - I can imagine you skipping out of the office at 5:30!!

Ponymum · 29/08/2008 13:11

hopefully I can relate to that. I think it's because he is appropriating a really special moment that should primarily belong to you. You should have charge of telling people the sex of your baby, but he is trying to "steal" this from you (sorry for the pop psychology!!).

I have thought about this because my MIL is doing the same thing. Although we are having a planned c-section I have told very few people of the date, as we still want to retain some of the joy of surprising people with our news when the time comes. But DH told her the date in confidence, and ever since she has been sending me emails saying things like, only 11 days to go! and telling me what she will be doing on the day and exactly when she will be thinking of the birth happening etc! It is driving me nuts, but I just have to smile as DH said it is the most exciting thing that has happened to her for ages and we have to allow her to treat this as her very own exciting experience. The things is, it's NOT! It's MY very own exciting experience! Hmmmph!

Speaking of dreams munki and lolli, I had a dream that at work we had to play badminton against our colleagues to meet work competency requirements needed for promotion and pay etc. But I kept losing, and was really angry when I realised that they had given me Roger Federer as the person I had to play against, only at first I didn't click it was him. Weird? And I haven't even played badminton since I was about 10.

hopefully · 29/08/2008 13:13

Ponymum I think you're right - I hate this ownership he seems to think he has over the sex of the child that I am carrying. It is my child, and if anyone is going to magically know the sex, it better bloody well be me! The fact that he has a 50/50 chance of being right will not stop the 'told you so' comments if it happens to be a boy. Grrrrrr. Also, sympathy to you re your MIL, I can fully relate to the feeling!

lollipopmother · 29/08/2008 13:22

Ponymum - I don't doubt that Roger Fedderer would be kick-ass at Badminton, I'd be well hacked off too if I had him as an apponent, haha!

I don't have an annoying thing about the actual birth, but we told our families the name that we're going to give the baby (Elizabeth) and ever since then my DPs grandfather has been calling her Liz, which I hate! I know I shouldn't care, but she's not Liz, she's Elizabeth or Lizzy! I was getting really wound up just thinking about it yesterday, although I've not actually seen the chap for about a month! I am going to have to tell him not to use Liz as a name, but then I feel like an arse for caring and I don't want to spoil it because they are really excited.

But I should be happy, at least he's going along with the name, my mum keeps trying to make me change it to either Rebecca or Kate (her name!!!)

carrieon · 29/08/2008 13:44

My MIL and father have both suggested their own names for our children at various points too!
I had someone tell me that she 'knew' our baby is going to be a boy, and said quite secretively 'I think you're going to use the name Luke' to which I replied that that is the name of the only significant ex in my life and absolutely never ever no not ever would I name my child that!!!
I wish I had 6th sense about the sex of the baby, its started to really wind me up that I don't know, even though its my choice that I don't know!
Does anyone else who's having a 'surprise' have a gut feeling either way for any reason? I'd be most interested, it would further fuel my own speculations!

meglet · 29/08/2008 13:46

hopefully I know it's not quite the same but my neighbour still calls my 21 month DS "the boy" whenever he asks about him. Or says stuff like "i heard the boy crying earlier". arrrgghhh! I feel like yelling at him he has a name for Gods sake! I hope you have a girl, that will stop your FIL in his tracks .

I think I have upset my step-mum and presumably dad too as I said I didn't want too many visitors at the hospital, especially on the first day. I have told my sister I want her to come and see me as she works at the hospital and will be good at dealing with the midwifes and my mum will have to be there (although I'd rather she wasn't) at some point when DP goes home to sort out DS, but otherwise I think I will want some peace. I like my step-mum & dad but don't want to be invaded, not sure how I can be diplomatic about it. Why can't the NHS just have plenty of midwives that can help so I don't need family going back and forth ?

meglet · 29/08/2008 14:02

Just been on this thread which some of the first time mums might find reasurring. Childbirth - rush of love when the baby is born. Basically it's ok not to feel it...

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1365/595689

carrieon we had a suprise with DS. But everybody we knew, including us, thought that we would have a boy. Everyone was right with this one about it being a girl, although I suspected it was a girl when I had morning sickness from hell.

Just had our new dishwasher delivered! .
