Oh for God sake Hopefully, I would just cancel that order and order somewhere else, you'll still get the pram and attachments before that arsehole company sorts it out!

hopefully · 28/08/2008 11:15

Thanks starlight and Lollipop. Have toyed repeatedly with cancellation of order, but that would mean definitely accepting that it won't come before baby is born, as no one else could deliver the pram within 4 weeks (except john lewis, but for £250 more!). Also, MIL is determined to see it through with these people if at all possible. Am going to be writing copious letters and things as soon as we have everything, as well as trying to get the company some negative publicity through Sunday paper money pages (have some contacts on the 'consumer champion' side through financial services).

Amusingly, the company sent us a 'gift' to make up for late delivery (may have already whined about this) - a 0-6 month sleeping bag, but 0.5 tog, so only useful in high summer. They know my due date, so this is a little . Sleeping bag also obviously been knocking around for ages, old design, but grubby etc. Am actually planning on sending it back with complaint letter, as it's not even worth ebaying!

LittleConnie · 28/08/2008 11:28

Thinking of you Potxola! hopefully I think you have been amazingly calm and reasonable given the circumstances. what absolute arseholes. how do they even manage to stay in business?

Well I am VERY excited coz it's my last day at work!!!!!!! And clearly I'm not doing much as am catching up on here . A whole month with my feet up sounds blissful. And tomorrow the nursery should actually start looking like one as curtains and wallpaper are going up, and cot & changing table are arriving. Lovely.

NCT classes were great over the weekend, although dh probably got much more out of it than I did as I've spent the last 6 months hoovering up info from MN. My only criticism would be that although I personally agree with the promotion of natural methods, the strong bias could lead the mums who will end up needing to go down a more medicalised route to feel like a bit of a failure. It's a tricky one. But already have coffee lined up with the other local mummies-to-be in a couple of weeks which is great.

Am also not sure what to do about the vit K issue... might have a chat with the MW next week.

lollipopmother · 28/08/2008 11:54

I haven't thought anything of the Vit K issue, I just take the view that I'm not a doctor and I'm sure they wouldn't administer something to every single baby that is born if they didn't think it had some value.

I had to have Anti-D injections and I looked into it and thought that maybe I would give it a miss, but when the time came I caved and just let them get on with it because really just reading a couple of things on the internet doesn't make me qualified to make a better decision than the Docs, and I would blame myself eternally if anything went wrong.

mamamufin · 28/08/2008 12:01

I m with you there lolli. If the doctors recommend it then my babe will get it.

becaroo · 28/08/2008 12:03

Me too.

Ponymum · 28/08/2008 12:05

hopefully I also have baby wedged where my lungs used to be. I have become so enormous and solid really high up just in the last week, and it is like the baby has a crow bar under my sternum and is pushing on it really hard... while simultaneously poking me in the cervix - well that's what it feels like! I have no idea what is really going on in there. And I try not to think of Alien.

The bastard mail order company - LittleConnie asked how are they still in business? Well here's my prediction: they are showing all signs of heading for calling in the receivers if you ask me. Non or partial fulfilment of orders in dribs and drabs is just what that wedding list co was doing before it went kaput recently. If a company is unable to fulfil pre-paid orders in that time frame then I seriously doubt it is trading solvent. Make sure your MIL has some sort of payment protection, i.e. paid by credit card, or get your money out real soon! BTW, hope this isn't libellous - merely observations from a bystander!

eandz · 28/08/2008 12:12

shamefully

my husband ordered the nursery set from two left feet as well (as a surprise). i've been trying to cancel the order but they keep sending emails about the delivery date.

hopefully · 28/08/2008 12:31

Ponymum I wouldn't be surprised if you're right - fortunately MIL paid on credit card, so we're fairly well protected on that front. My other theory is that they basically make their profit margins (they are quite a lot cheaper than many other places) by simply keeping buyers' money in their accounts without actually ordering the goods - they've made something in excess of £15 interest on my order alone, and the only reason I'm getting my order now is because I spent hours and hours threatening them. I genuinely don't believe I would have received a single thing yet if I hadn't chased.

Eandz if there's any chance of cancelling your order, I would do it. I have been holding off cancelling as they have managed to send one little bit at a time, but if I had cancelled when they first failed to fulfil the order (at the beginning of august) I would have had plenty of time to order my cot and pushchair from somewhere else, and had about half the stress.

hopefully · 28/08/2008 12:32

Am also not looking forward to getting my phone bill - will definitely be invoicing 2LF for the phone calls (totalling over 2.5 hours at standard national day time rate), not that I particularly expect to get anything...

MelT76 · 28/08/2008 12:35

I've had a quick look on Companies House for Two Left Feet, they are however a trading company of Two Right Feet. You can order copies of their accounts if you realy want to see how they are doin. Not sure this will be of any help to you tho. You can also get a list of the directors and write directly to them. here

carrieon · 28/08/2008 13:19

1 month til due date!
hopefully and eandz I am getting SO reading about what you've been put through and the injustice of it!! I really hope you get your products AND your money back!
My mum's arriving today because tomorrow...dh and I are going on a weekend hotel break, hooray! First time away from dd as a couple. Wow. And I'm booked in for a pedicure on saturday morning I'm totally ashamed at the state of my feet though, was thinking of trying to tidy them up a bit in advance, but realised that's like people who clean up before the cleaning lady comes! At least I'm never likely to meet the beautician again so she can think what she likes about how scummy my feet are!
Can't wait to get news from Poxtola...

carrieon · 28/08/2008 13:24

ps, kasha I've just emailed you details of the cranial osteopath, hope you get it ok!

eandz · 28/08/2008 13:28

hopefully
i'ma tryin to cancel. it's just that i didn't even know my husband was up for giving me such a surprise. i don't know if i should be besotted with the sentiment or angry about his not telling me.

mamamufin · 28/08/2008 13:48

Gosh I hope you two get it sorted with them, how annoying.

Well, Ive been to my last hypno class. I am feeling alot more positive about the birth in general so it must have done the trick. Today we talked about the "bodys natural Wisdom" If you think about it, Its really quite remarkable how our bodys know how to conceive, grow and birth a baby.

Sorry for tmi. But I have had the biggest poo ever and I am now getting period like pains. . Ds is in nursery and dh is fishing down the lane. I am going to see how it goes for a while before I send dh into a panick (I want my pizza hut later) I might walk and take him a flask of coffee now. Its probably nothing .

DebitheScot · 28/08/2008 13:49

fingers crossed hopefully you get your stuff (and you too eandz if you don't manage to cancel)

Hope everything's going ok for potxola, she should probably have had her baby by now if everything was on time.

Thanks to whoever it was (sorry can't remember) who posted the link for the huggies pack, I was passing Sainsbury's earlier so nipped in and got it, they've obviously realised their error with the voucher scanning at £10 as it's now only scanning at £6.65 or whatever the pack costs but that ok, as boxes of free stuff go it was actually quite good. And I got 2 packs of the nappy wrappers for the nappy bin at 1/3 off while I was there so was worth going in.

I really hope I am next. I am getting really fed up , didn't sleep well at all last night, kept dreaming I was in labour then waking up thinking I was and then couldn't get back to sleep. And I was worrying a bit that I hadn't felt baby move very much yesterday but then of course everytime I was awake last night so was it. My bump hurts, my pelvis hurts and I'm sooo tired.
Ds has had one of those mornings where although he hasn't really been naughty he's nipped my head all day and didn't stop talking once from when he woke up just before 7 to when he went for his nap. Then I snapped at him over nothing really at lunchtime and that made him refuse to eat anymore so he was given the choice of eating rest of lunch or going to bed and he thankfully chose bed. Hopefully he'll be there a while. I can't go for a nap though as a friend is coming round any minute now.

carrieon · 28/08/2008 13:58

Oh Debi you poor thing. I hate that feeling of snapping at dd and knowing that actually its me who has the problem, not her! Hope you get some rest and have a happier afternoon
mama that sounds exciting...keep us posted!

hopefully · 28/08/2008 14:00

Thanks for that MelT76 - planning on a long nasty letter to the directors, so that might help. Determined to invoice them for cost of calls etc, and perhaps they'll send something decent in compensation (anything except 2LF vouchers!)

Sorry for those of you not sleeping well -I alternate between good and bad nights, but even the bad ones only include a couple of wakings, and I don't need to get up for toilet until at least 6am. Lisstening to hypno CD before bed definitely makes me (and DP, he claims!) sleep much more soundly. Not sure if that's intended effect, but it's very welcome...

lollipopmother · 28/08/2008 14:00

EandZ - Don't get mad at him, he's going to be gutted when he finds out the company is shite and it's ruined his surprise.

Mamamufin - It could be something, I hear that the body has a good clear out before labour, and the period pains are a sign too. However I wake up every morning with period pains but they go within about 5 mins.

meglet · 28/08/2008 14:07

carrieon I'm very of your pedicure. I keep thinking it would be lovely to have one done, but they have to take off the polish for the cs next week so it will be money wasted. I'm booked in for a leg wax in November and am going to book a massage too. I remember being in so much pain for weeks after the birth of DS while my body got back to normal. So I am going to be good and give myself some TLC this time.

I just had a lovely e-mail from my friend about bf her new baby. She had a nightmare first time like me and has done really well this time round so I feel more encouraged and positive for this birth .

My bump is really getting me down now, it's making me too uncomfortable. My lungs, stomach and cervix are all being squashed .

eandz · 28/08/2008 14:33

everyone on this thread is ridiculously sweet. i love it.

biglips · 28/08/2008 14:52

hiya to you all chatterbox!!

my little bit of water leaked this morning even though the baby is not engaged...so i wondered what was that about. It was just clear water.

hopefully · 28/08/2008 15:03

Just back from MW, everything still going well, head has only engaged another 1/5 (now 3/5 palpable, 2/5 engaged). Was hoping it would have engaged more, even though that doesn't mean labour is imminent. Am I the only one who really doesn't feel like their body is gearing up for labour at all in any way? I know I still have a week and a half till due date, but I have had no BHs, no real pain in my cervix or anything, no major hormonal shifts. It's a good thing I'm not uncomfortable, and not too stressed about going overdue!

In other news, pram has finally arrived! We are still missing car seat attachments, but we have everything else. Pram (bugaboo cameleon) looks brilliant, really pleased with it, but wish i didn't have ongoing drama with 2LF to taint things. DP and I are currently planning a massive letter, complete with phone bills etc etc to send to them.

biglips · 28/08/2008 15:08

Hopefully - i was exactly like you when i was expecting my first child...had no pains, no cervix pains, no BH's...totally nothing and it was the best pg i had as i sailed it thru.

And hooray that you got ya pram even though the carseat bits are still missing....too right you will put a complaint in and really go overboard with it saying that this is stress that i dont need when im due in a week's time etc...

good luck!
