make sure you all take pics

MonkeyMargot · 23/08/2008 17:01

Wow Merry - you'll be cutting it fine! Hope you can make it though!
Hi Hana - Like Merry, my name isn't Margot either. It's my dog's name!

Oblomov · 23/08/2008 19:04

I prefer being Oblomov to my RL name = boring.

Oblomov · 23/08/2008 19:10

As you can see, we are ta home. We couldn't go to sil becasue of measles. Then we arranged to go to mil. But apparently sil had been there too. So we have gone nowhere. Dh v upset. So am I too actually. But we have cleared out shed.
Spending more time with ds . He is better.
And with dh. Baby didn't stop kicking for 1.5 hours afterwards

DOZYMARE, I have request. For meet up. It is in 6 weeks. I know because I booked a hair appointment. Have to compete with glam MonkeyM, ya know
Can we do it early afternoon ? I can't be too late back, on the train fRom Waterloo, to pick up ds. Just after lunch , rather than say 3.30pm, would be best for me. Just thought I would get that request in early.

I am so jealous of the plans to meet up for a lovely tea. I am considering looking up cheap flights!

ChocOrange05 · 24/08/2008 01:24

Dozy just wanted to say £17 is fine for me.

How cool am I - its 1.23am and I am still up, and not due to insomnia! Just came back from a few Virjitos at the local cocktail bar!

Night all! x

Morning all

Since yesterday my bump has only been kicking / moving on my right side - has anyone else had this?? Is this normal? It just feels a bit strange.

Have a good day all - how great is it that its Sunday but its not the end of the weekend!!

Dozymare · 24/08/2008 14:50

hey all - DH and are are having massive ructions as clearing out the study in preperartion for Tier Leomonade's arrival...like you Lacks it has been a dumping ground for ages - full of CD's, books, paperwork, JUNK JUNK JUNK and DH is such a hoarder. I am being ruthless and he is going through what I am binning and putting sdtuff back on the "TO KEEP" PILE......(drinking board game, never been used in 10 years anyone?!)

I have come downstairs for some respite. Luckily both DS;s are at my parents for a sleepover so hopefully by tomorrow we should have the room finished!

Ceebee AND Chocorange my little one is very very non active compared to both boys, plus she only moves on the right side as well...maybe because she is transverse/nearly breech her legs are up by the right side of my body????

As for London meet up - we said first friday in October which I think is the 4th? Does 2pm suit everyone???? Can I have definate numbers......

DM xx

Dozymare · 24/08/2008 14:51

that lst post sounded very bossy of me - am sorry!

cricri · 24/08/2008 21:08

I'm up for the London meet-up and 2pm sounds great to me I'm flexible so any time is OK to be honest.
My LO has always been more active on my right-hand side for some reason. At my last scan a couple of weeks ago she was head down so I'm not quite sure what I'm feeling - legs? I think she's fairly active but I've got nothing to compare it with. DH felt her move earlier and was surprised when I said it didn't hurt! It doesn't though - perhaps that might change in a few weeks!
Dozy Hope you get the nursery finished tomorrow. I've been nagging DH for a couple of weeks now to sort out his stuff in the room we're going to use as a nursery but it hasn't had any effect yet.
No BH for us unfortunately - he's working and I will be too as I have a lot of work on at the moment. Got to get some money in before LO arrives
Hope everybody else has had a good BH weekend.

chocolategal · 24/08/2008 21:19

evening ladies!
yup, no bank hol for me either
am back to work tmw after my 28week check up with the MW

im still feeling the same number of movements i think but not nearly as strong, im thinking he has moved to a different postion!?

okay, i am starting to buy baby clothes, just the essentials like sleepsuits and vests as im guessing i wont get many of the basics as gifts?
how many do i need to buy? i was thinking 8-10 of each???

MerryMarigold · 24/08/2008 21:54

Hey chocolate. That sounds good to me. I would break it down into:

  • 3-4 newborn vests
  • 3-4 newborn babygros
  • 5 plus vests
  • 5 plus 0-3 months
  • 1 cardigan (if a cold house)

I wouldn't get too much newborn stuff as they grow out of it very quickly depending on their size. I always think that I can send dh/ mum/ friend to mothercare/ tesco to get some more babygros/ vests if I end up with littler babies. Also, you don't know what you may get given as gifts. I got given babygros and vests by a couple of people, ended up with plenty.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/08/2008 09:13

morning all

quickly before I catch up. I would advise, from my own experience, that you can never have too many little vests. I had about six for DS and went through them all in the first day at home whilst we got to grips with changing a nappy and recognising when little boys are about to fountain a wee . DH had to run out to the shops to buy more as I went through all the 0-3 months ones I'd bought as well. Get some cheapy ones from Asda, tesco or primark though.......some will probably need cutting off with the inevitable poo explosions!

Right off to catch up.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/08/2008 09:21

well that didn't take long. I've never seen this place so quiet

Choco, if the baby is lying across you that might explain kicks on one side only.

virgil is still feet down and have been getting horrible twinges as he merrily kicks hell out of my cervix and the heartburn is nasty, nasty, nasty as he headbutts the contents of my stomach back into my oesophagus......nice

Been having a very emotionally wobbly weekend and DH actually shouted at me yesterday (he never shouts) which got me crying and once I started I couldn't stop. DS was playing up as he got a real scare when DH yelled, and then seeing me so upset. But, we ended up going out for a walk and a picnic and having a lovely family day. The boys are fishing down the canal this morning and DD and I are going to take a packed lucnh to them later. And I'm taking DS to the cinema this evening as it's ages since we had some quality us time (oh, and I feel guilty about upsetting him yesterday )

chocolategal · 25/08/2008 11:08

morning!

yeh i agree lacks its been a very quiet weekend on here! hope your heartburn is better!

just back from the MW, she has phoned and made an appt with the consultant for me on thurs to speak about babys kidneys so at least i will be more in the know after that!

baby fine today, hes apparantly back to back with me and head down.

well im off to work now

hope everyone else who is off enjoys the bank hol

SoExcited · 25/08/2008 12:47

Glad to hear people enjoying the bank holiday - we've been decorating the nursery. I've also ordered a load of stuff online. I did a Boots order, and found that loads of things were coming up with an extra 10% off when I added them to the basket, but wasn't sure why, so I thought I'd better get everything I was after. So ordered the birthing pool - seems quite early, but if it's cheap now, then seems worth it.

I have borrowed just about all the clothes I need, so beyond buying a pair of sleepsuits and hats with a pattern (from Blooming Marvellous - reduced from about £28 to £10) I'm not buying any other clothes. Have got loads of cheap white basics, which depending on how much the baby poos could be plenty or not enough!!

I'm starting to get properly excited now too (and DH i, which is nice) - 12 weeks isn't that long is it!!

suiledonn · 25/08/2008 12:55

chocolategal - that is good news about your appointment. Hope it all goes well

lackadaisy - I know how you are feeling with the heart burn. Mine has been really bad this weekend. I am contemplating taking the Zantac that someone mentioned but think I better ask the doctor first. I was awake loads last night with it.

Oblomov · 25/08/2008 13:07

Gosh it is quiet.
MerryM are you really only going to buy 3 or 4 sleepsuits ?
Seriously ?
Like Daisy, I had many days when I got through that many in 1 day !!!
We went to Ascot car boot yesterday and bought some really sweet, as new sleepsuits. They are currently in the washing machine. I think I have atleast 20. I can't be doing with panicking that I don't have any sleepsuits washed.
Mind you, ds lived in sleepsuits. I love sleepsuits. I never had him in anything else, for the first few months. So I do need plenty.

I did buy some pads, breast pads, nappies and cotton wool, from sainsburys , as part of our shop, on fri night, and am considering starting to pack my hospital bag.

I am feeeling VERY PROUD of myself, for being this organised.
I am sure there is something very important that I have forgotten though ......you know, like ladies, who get home and realised they have left baby in the buggy, in the newsagents..... I have that kind of feeling

MerryMarigold · 25/08/2008 16:58

Hi y'all. We bought a car today (well parents kindly bought it). Very exciting. It is huge. It's not new, but seems in good nick. How I'm gonna park the beast I have no idea.

Sleepsuits. My policy is less is more! I only had 2 newborn size with ds and boy, am I glad I did as a) he was 8lb3 and didn't fit them for more than 1 week and b) I got given about 6 more anyway (which was plenty to see me through). I had quite few more 0-3 month ones, which lasted longer. Also, ds was never sick, and the 'exploding poos' started more like 2-3months old so somedays he was in the same sleepsuit for a couple of days (ooooooooooh, bad mum!!!). If baby's are small or very sicky, it takes a 5min trip to Tesco for some more and we kept having to go there for other things (nipple cream, cabbage leaves, more sanitary pads etc.) - rather have too few than too many.

I love sleepsuits too...ds lived in them despite all the 'cute outfits' which he was given and hardly wore. This time round I have LOADS of stuff given to me and what I had already so no need to buy a stitch, except some girls stuff which is so pretty I HAD to indulge, but that has been pure indulgence rather than necessity.

MerryMarigold · 25/08/2008 17:24

(someone has given me 29 VESTS!!!). So should be fine even if they are both continually being sick!

LadyBuzz · 25/08/2008 19:19

Happy New car Merry!
Hope everyone has had a fab weekend, I was at a wedding on Sat and soldiered on until 1:30 and slept most of yesterday to make up for it!!
I too have more vests than will be necessary - I was given loads with DS but I was VERY thankful for them at the start!
Chocolategal good luck for thurs.

MonkeyMargot · 25/08/2008 20:50

Hello everyone! Just got back home after visiting my family for the weekend. Was fab - I raided my brother's garage and have come back with a fab cot, bouncy chair thing, moses basket, bath and loads of sleepsuits/vests. I'm so grateful to him, he's been saving this stuff for me for YEARS!! (his DD's are 7 and 9!)
Dozy - 2pm for the London meet-up sounds super dooper.
Glad (some of) you have had a good BH weekend. Sorry some of you are working

Roca · 25/08/2008 21:01

Hi Everyone,

Had a fab weekend camping - the kids just loved it - was at a Scout camp so they go to try archery and obstacle courses and swim etc.

SHOPPING ADVICE NEEDED - after 2 kids and a few weeks in hospital pregnant or having given birth I still do not seem to have any nice maternity PJ's or a beastfeeding nightdress - which is easiest to wear when having a c setcion.

Can anyone recommend a non frump nightdress they have seen. I got a standard pack of 2 from mothercare last time but felt hideous and after giving birth and with loads of visitors I thought this time I at least want to feel ok in my PJ's!

ceebee74 · 25/08/2008 21:05

Evening

Had a lovely day (apart from the rain ) - went to Blackpool Zoo this morning and then onto a shopping outlet place this afternoon - picked up a couple of cheap jumpers for baby from M&S - including a red hooded jumper labelled 'Baby's First Christmas' for £3 which is just so cute!!

Re sleepsuits - I did have a lot for DS and did put a clean one on every night for him . But DS was a puker so often went through a lot. Isn't it funny how we are all different as I always dressed DS in a proper day outfit from the day we left hospital - I honestly can't remember a day where he was in babygro all day.

Hope you are all having a good Bank Holiday (apart from those who were working)
