I hope to god it's not an obsession - was only one dream and it wasn't me who was having sex with him. We were in the Queen Vic in Eastenders, bizarrely. and the cast were watching him. I am still slightly scared of dreaming of him. Preferred it when I had my David Tennant dream. Now THAT was a good one!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/08/2008 11:35

Hey all, not been on for a while, hope all mums and bumps are doing ok. I'm getting more puffed, having to slow down from my usual stride which is v frustrating as I usually walk everywhre.

We met our doula last week, v exciting. But also starting to brick it a bit about labour, just started to dawn on me that I really have to go through it all again... Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a lentil-weavery type and could have someone knock me out at the first contraction and not wake up until it's all over, ho hum.

Bit worried about my mum atm, she's been called back after routine mammogram, poss pre-cancerous cells . She has to have more tests and it could be nothing, but it has given me a bit of a shock. Had a bit of a weep yesterday and luckily DS was unusually gentle and sympathetic (for a toddler).

Veggiemummy · 21/08/2008 11:37

well i did some Tara this morning loved it but it gave me heartburn.

i have the clear out nesting thing but also get a little tired i was clearing out DS's toys yesterday and was getting very tired and uncomfortable trying to get around on my knees or his little chairs to go through his boxes and toys on the floor.

lowrib · 21/08/2008 11:42

Hiya Effieperrine, ZoeJeanne - I had my 20w scan, and everything seems fine so far except baby large for age. (This is a relief actually as one of the other things the dodgy bloods could indicate is small-for-age). They want me to come back for another scan in a few weeks to monitor growth, as it could have just been a growth spurt. Imaginings of bloody painful birth aside (!) I'm less worried by large for age from a health point of view - my partner is very tall (and his sister is 6ft!!) - the measurement which was most off the scale was the femur. This is going to be a very scanned baby!

Hiya Beans, I know it looks like Low Rib, and could be some kind of clever Adam and Eve reference... but it's nothing so exciting I'm afraid - just my name, Lowri B!

.. and John Prescott .. how disturbing!! you have my sympathies!!

lowrib · 21/08/2008 11:45

Hiya Pixsix, yup moving house at 8 months is gonna be interesting!

Trying not to think about it to much right now, but the way these weeks are flashing by, it'll be November in no time

JamInMyWellies · 21/08/2008 11:47

John Prescott

Welcome Lowrib

I am really not here should be packing cant be arsed

LadyThompson · 21/08/2008 11:50

Lowrib, I had a CVS which was fine and then I had to have a flow test last week due to my earlier bloods - I am 25+2. That was fine too and I think it is more likely to be than not, so good luck and try not to worry.

Yeah, some maternity jeans from H&M were too small for me a while back. I used to think their non-maternity sizing was quite generous...but mayebe they have gone all stingy. If they have got new stock in, Effie, I'm going down tonight because I've also got linen trousers to return to M&S (too small )

Beans you have GOT to start asking for help on the tube. I know you shouldn't have to but it's better than putting up with the discomfort and getting yourself in a state, truly.

I think I am the only one who is distraught at having to leave London (muffled sob). I'll be nipping back here all I can though. Travel cot in my London flat...just me, the baby and a million mice...

If anyone can still have sex with their 'legs around' I take me hat off to them. Bringing up my knees is getting to be an impossibility for me, but this is spoiling my use of the exercise bike at the gym far more than anything else

EffiePerine · 21/08/2008 11:52

Lowrib: DS also came out as large at the 20 wk scan (at the upper end of the scale for head and abdomen). They said it was either a big baby or I was further ahead than I thought. I remember DS's measurement were pretty simiilar and he wasn't huge at birth (7 lbs 6) though filled out later - he was just long with a big head (ouch!).

RG: so sorry to hear about your mum. My mum was treated for breast cancer a few years back and is now all-clear . If it's caught early (and it sounds like your mum's has) the prognosis is good. She didn;t even have to have chemo or a full mascectomy - just radiotherapy and a minor op. The only issue for her was that as she still hadn;t gone through the menopause (we're a fertile bunch in my family) she has to have huuge injections to suppress the oestrogen she was producing. In the end she opted for having her ovaries whipped out, again a straightforward op and full recovery

Veggiemummy · 21/08/2008 11:52

oh dear it's getting bad i have just bawled my eyes out over the Great Ormond Street ad, not good for a paediatric nurse. At least this pregnancy DH is a bit wiser and we won't end up sponsoring every cause who puts out and emotive ad. Last pregnancy we started direct debit sponsoring for water aid, the dogs trust and NSPCC.

EffiePerine · 21/08/2008 11:54

LT: you still have mice? Nasty little beggars

EffiePerine · 21/08/2008 11:55

oh and mat at H&M, yes new stock, some really nice wrap-effect tops, casual trousers and cardigans. Lots of violet, jade green and red.

LadyThompson · 21/08/2008 11:58

Bit behind with my post - Rhinestone, I am sorry to hear that but it sounds like it is vv early and whenever it is that early it can usually be squashed out of all existence.

Lowrib (you'll always be Low Rib to me), good new about the scan...

Veggiemummy · 21/08/2008 12:02

i do miss London (esp my lovey 50meter pool at London fields...damn 25mtr pools) but not looking forward to coming in on the 6pm train from Derby tomorrow. Only have to get myself to Great ormond street though to meet a friend and might suggest we have dinner in town so don't have to deal with train to hers until later, then can laugh at drunk people on the tube.

Sooooooooooooooooo looking forward to the mother-to-be treatment and pedicure on sat and then evening out with my friend will be so nice but going to miss DS will be the first time we have stayed away from each other since he was born!!!

Verso · 21/08/2008 12:03

LadyT I rather like London too (apart from the having to be assertive re seats on trains part) - but I like it even more now I'm further out and can either have a city day or not, depending on whether I'm working or at home. I think I get the best of both worlds!

JL update: have just reported them to Trading Standards via a very helpful chap at Consumer Direct and a lovely lady at Citizen's Advice. Feel MUCH better .

LadyThompson · 21/08/2008 12:07

They could be phantom mice, Effie...no obvious signs any more, but I can HEAR them. And there is a funny smell in a part of my kitchen which I keep trying to pretend isn't there, and...

You see, I tried the nasty spiky traps and the mice wouldn't play ball. But I think I need to get The Men in and I keep putting it off and putting it off...but I must do it before the baby is born, especially given that my flat will then be unoccupied for long periods.

Hey, the new range at H&M sounds nice...

Beans33 · 21/08/2008 12:22

Aha, lowrib - makes more sense, although I'm afraid I keep on reading you as low rib!

LT I will try to be more assertive and not such a wuss!

Poor you with the mice. We've got them in our office, which is pretty gross.

I might nip down to H&M myself today or tomorrow for a bit of a beak. I ordered some stuff from Crave and I do think their stuff is over-priced and actually really not that nice. I'm sending it straight back. Just not good enough!

I have loved London until now - don't know what's happened. Maybe it was just yesterday...

RC - I hope your Mum is ok - sure she will be - does sound like it's been caught early and the rate of full recovery is really high now, so try not to fret. Will keep fingers etc crossed for you.

lowrib · 21/08/2008 12:25

Hiya LadyThompson & JaminMyWellies, and thanks

Beans I know what you mean about the tube - most people are so busy trying not to look at anyone they don't even notice you're there!! (and others are just plain rude). I've been trying diffent tactics -working out which clothes show off my bump the most and standing so it's very obvious / glaring at the person in the priority seat but often to no effect! I think LadyThompson is right, but I haven't managed to summon up the courage to actually ask yet!

LadyThompson · 21/08/2008 12:38

I'm always exceedingly sweet and polite when I ask people to stand up (it makes them extra ashamed as well) though I secretly want to shout "Oi! Where are your manners?"

Someone was asking about breaking your duck.

It?s a cricketing term ? when a batsman goes in to bat and is out before actually scoring any runs, it?s called a Duck. If you are out first ball, it?s a Golden Duck! (Which is precisely what happened to one of my players on Sunday ).

If you break your duck, it?s getting runs after a long spell of not, and in general usage, means when you do something after a long spell of not. I have never watched a Star Wars film and my DP is determined to rectify this: I will therefore be breaking my (Star Wars) duck. Well, actually, I won?t, because I have no intention of going along with his evil plans.

Verso · 21/08/2008 12:41

Sorry, lowrib - I should have said hello! "Hello!" >waves

lowrib · 21/08/2008 12:42

Veggiemummy you come from my neck of the woods! I used to visit London Fields Lido as a child. Haven't been back since it reopened but keep meaning to, I hear it's a bit warmer now! (It used to be an unheated year-round open-air pool - some people would actually crack the ice in mid-winter to go for their daily swim- I kid you not!!)

We're leaving London too in a year or so (for the first time, for me) and there are lots of things I'll miss (friends, the excitement of city life, diversity, late night shops) but among the things I won't miss is having crack dealers hanging out at the end of my street!

Never thought I'd hear myself saying this but I'm actually really looking forward to leaving the city. Hoping we'll get a better quality of life. Haven't decided where though yet - where are other people leaving the city for?

LadyThompson · 21/08/2008 12:47

I am going to the tiniest, weeniest village in West Oxfordshire/Cotswold borders and it's a long way from Soho.

But I will (hopefully) have a lovely baby to make up for it and hey, what can you do in Soho with a baby anyway?

lowrib · 21/08/2008 12:48

Hiya Verso!

zoejeanne · 21/08/2008 12:58

of those of you close to a H&M with a maternity dept - my local store doesn't stock maternity - tut. And all those colours sound lovely, I'm starting to get quite peed off with all the black maternity clothes and needing more colours to wear.

RC hoping your mum gets good treatment quickly and has a speedy recovery

Beans33 · 21/08/2008 12:58

lowrib - we're off in a year or so too, and we don't know where we're going either! Hoping maybe towards cambs or bristol, although not 100% sure if either of them are a goer. Slightly depends on DH's job, but I'm gagging for a bit of fresh air and a garden!

Veggiemummy · 21/08/2008 13:04

we moved up to Derby, the town itself is ok but the but drawcard is the countryside around here it is beautiful, and we are only 1hr40min from Stapncras by train so easy to pop back to london for visits. the area around is so lovely we are going away for a weekend in the peak district weekend after this one, DH & and a friend are going to do some mountain biking and his wife their DS and our DS and i are going to do some preggo lady walking.
