Zoe: actually I would have had the biscuit and the apple. And then some toast.

I am wearing my new topshop mat trousers today and they are most comfortable. They are under the bunmp and have an adjustable waistband, so should last a bit. Trekking back to Regents St at lunchtime to get XXXXL sizes of the rest of the stuff . They also have some really nice kids stuff in at the minute for those with older babies...

rosmerta · 21/08/2008 09:14

zj I would've had both tbh

Zoe eat the apple you fool

My apple enjoyment has been curtailed, dp took the lst one to work today Have already had a slice of cake this morning though But it was the last one Will have to make more . Amazing how my victoria sponge making has come along with my 2 or 3 a week habit Move over WI ladies

Jam I think if my MW tried to discuss positions with me I would want the ground the swallow me up.

I think I had mild spd with ds, but the Dr I saw was very dismissive and explained that of course I had trouble walking and it was perfectly normal that when I lay down at night my pelvis felt as though it was sinking into the bed while the rest of me remained on the mattress because your ligaments have to get looser to let the baby come out you know . Then he said he had thought when I came in that I was going to tell him I'd been putting on weight and he would have to explain that I was pg Nothing yet with this one though, and had already started with ds. Fingers crossed.

Veggiemummy · 21/08/2008 09:52

Indith your GP is an idiot, and obviously male. Indith you make the victoria sponges yourself, that may be a bad road to go down, i was like that with muffins when DS was born i used to make myselfa batch of muffins so i would have something to hand if i got hungry whilst BFing but they were all gone by 10am usually.

Also don't worry about cracked nipples when BFing as your own milk is quite good at moisturizing them. and ge nice soft breastpads so not too much abrasion i had some reusable ones which were lovely and soft.

Jam i can't believe your MW said that in front of them how embarrasing, will remember the tip for the yoga & umm...sex.

I would def go the apple & digestive, you need some complex carb with the sugar in the apple

zoejeanne · 21/08/2008 10:01

I've got into baking recently too, I made the best cherry cake at the weekend - but it's all gone already , still have some more cherries though, so will make another one tonight. I think baking is my nesting, the house is a tip, but I too could join the WI!!

Glad the Dr is being less annoying this time indith - I can't believe some of the things he said! And jam, I'm for you after the MW comments!

Verso · 21/08/2008 10:06

I am soooo nesty at the moment - but not foodwise (although did some fairy cakes with DD a week or so ago - does that count?). I have urges to BIN lots of things and clear spaces - but my energy levels are low so I find I'm puffed quite quickly. Just want the place sorted!

Also now I've broken my duck as far as baby shopping goes I find I'm fighting off urges to leap back to Mothercare today and stock up . (Especially since I have a car now and this is my last week of holiday!!!) Somebody help me!

(...or maybe I'll just pop out and get a few bits... >whistles innocently and sidles out the door

lowrib · 21/08/2008 10:08

Hi everyone. Nice to find you all.
I'm 21+5 (due Christmas day!!)

What's SPD?
If I carry anything remotely heavy, or walk for a long time, I feel - well it's not that painful - I guess it's what doctors call 'discomfort'! - in my groin.
The thing is I'm pretty sure this happened when I carried a bag which was quite heavy a few weeks back (yes, I know we're not meant to, but it was just one of those things - there was no one around to help and I had to get home!) It doesn't hurt at all if I put direct pressure on it (or during sex thankfully!) just if it's under strain IYSWIM. I will ask the midwife of course, but just wondered if this sounds familiar to anyone?

Indith · 21/08/2008 10:08

Wasn't my regular Dr, I was staying at my mum's at the time and she dragged me to see someone! Twat.

Made cheese straws this morning

Domestic goddessed just bake right? They don't have to hoover do they?

Verso · 21/08/2008 10:12

SPD = symphysis pubis dysfunction
(ie where the relaxin in your body loosens your pelvic ligaments too effectively and so the front two halves of your pelvis come apart - means they can go out of alignment rather painfully when you walk etc)

Real domestic goddesses have rugs and sweep the dust underneath (or hire a cleaner) .

Indith · 21/08/2008 10:14

Hello lowrib

SPD is when your pelvis goes wonky because your ligaments are looser during pregnancy. Most of us will get some form of pain and discomfort, especially when overdoing things (top tip, don't move house, that constitutes overdoing things!) but if you experience trouble walking normally then you should ask your Dr or MW.

Indith · 21/08/2008 10:16

Verso is far more scientific than I clearly

Hmm ds seems to have got bored of playing with my Russian doll at my feet and it looking all sad while trying to cuddle me. Think I should go play with him

See you later!

SummerLightning · 21/08/2008 10:20

Hello everyone, I have been lurking as have been busy. It is so hard to keep up on here. I won't even try and say much in response to everything!!!

good news on your new niece though Turnip. I want a little niece or nephew, i shall tell my brother to get on the case!

I am happy, I had my first reference to the fact that I am preggers not just fat from a stranger! The lady in Homebase said that I was not to carry some paint, and that husband should do it instead! Result!

Verso what does broken your duck mean??

I went through the nesting phase and have run out of steam typical, no commitment!!! Still have 4 months to finish everything, and parents are coming to help decorate what will be the baby room this weekend, lovely parents.

Do you know what causes SPD? I went cycling with some friends on Tuesday night and it was quite uncomfortable, my hips and back hurt quite a lot, I am thinking I may have to give up cycling for fun with friends as it is a bit much. And I don't want to cause this SPD thing.

lowrib · 21/08/2008 10:22

Also, I'm going for a doppler scan to check blood flow today. Has anyone else been sent for one of these?

(They want to do it because of nasty scare early on with high chance of downs - CVS came out fine, and everything seems fine, but they want to do it because of dodgy bloods.)

lowrib · 21/08/2008 10:32

Wow you lot are quick!

Thanks for responses.
Am waddling like a duck these days! I will speak to the midwife/dr about the discomfort.

Indith, you must be psychic! We're moving house, prob in October. (Know it's a terrible idea, but no choice!)

SummerLightening, my mother refused to let me wash up for her at 3 months! Sure risk to baby is 0 but it was so out of character I didn't argue!

EffiePerine · 21/08/2008 10:38

SL: not expert on SPD but I get the impression that it you're either at risk or not, then if you ARE at risk certain activities can make it worse. Does that make sense? Certinaly if anything is making you uncomfortable stop doing it (hurriedly applies rule to dusting and emptying the nappy bin)

I've got a quiet few days coming up, DH is taking DS to see his mum for a few days for free babysitting a family visit. Am at work so I get the flat to myself. Will miss them though - it;s the longest I've been away from DS . He is teething at the moment and waking at night, so prob a good time to have a break! Might do some baking and scoff the results before they get back on Sunday. Then again DH is a weirdo who doesn't like cake, so I usually end up eating most of it anyway!

Morning lowrib and welcome . I'm due on teh 30th but DS wasa few days early, so a Xmas baby is not out of the question. Have you had your 20 week scan and everything?

Beans33 · 21/08/2008 10:39

Hi everyone! I'm back from Wales - lovely break, but now back to work, which is miserable. Pissed with rain for full 5 days and on the train up, I pulled a tendon, so spent 3 hours crying on the train! Was terrified and spent next two days trying to rest it, with unsympathetic husband trying to make me join in with things. Wasn't happy! Luckily my parents were there too and came down on my side, so I didn't have to go sailing etc. Went for one walk, but it knackered me! Anyway, seems to have worn off now. Phew.

I now actively don't like London. 4 hour train journey to Euston yesterday with big bag. Got the tube from Euston down to Clapham Common and had to change half way. NO ONE helped me with getting my bag (on wheels, so ok for pulling along) on and off train/tube and I had to stand all the way - not a single one of those buggers offered me a seat!!! Then got to Clapham Common and loads of steps up and no lift - NO ONE OFFERED TO HELP ME! I couldn't believe it. Not being funny, but I am obviously pregnant now as 24 wks + 3 days and it was so difficult getting it up the steps. A girl finally offered to help for last 10 steps or so. But people in London are so disinterested. DH came to pick me up, by which stage I was in tears!

Sorry, rant over! Feeling better today, but very very keen to leave London now. don't think I can bear it much longer!

How's everyone been? I had a quick look over some of the posts that have been going on, but too many to really go into detail on anything! Although my sex drive is down to twice a week now. And I much prefer mornings as I'm less full and tired! I'm having all sorts of racey dreams - some are excruciatingly embarrassing the next day (John Prescott anyone? HELP!). DH thinks that it's not enough, but he felt the beastie kick mid-bonk last week, so a bit less pressing than he was before!

zoejeanne · 21/08/2008 10:45

Well this domestic goddess has got dust blindness, so she doesn't even see the dust to sweep it under the rug!!

effie enjoy a few days of peace and quiet (although I find I get bored with no one to talk to, and then resent the noise and chaos when I'm not alone - never satisfied).

Welcome lowrib, hope everything has gone well so far, apart from your early scare?

EffiePerine · 21/08/2008 10:45

sorry to hear about your pulled tendon (ouch) and your crappy journey back. I find it varies wildly, some days you get loads of help from random strangers and other times none at all! Am starting to struggle with hauling DS and the buggy up and down stairs, but he likes his new reins which helps . Might think about carrying a sling for emergencies...

SummerLightning · 21/08/2008 10:47

John Prescott - YIKES!!!!

I agree re: London, that is why I left (well that and the property prices)! though people can occasionally take you by surprise. To be honest re seats, I have been told that you just have to ask a lot of the time and that people are (almost) always fine with it when you do.

Beans33 · 21/08/2008 10:50

I know, John Prescott was heinous! Mortified by the dream!!!

I must start asking people to give up seats for me - I'm just too wetty about it! Oh well, will start soon.

sorry about the rant, I'm generally v happy at moment! Welcome lowrib - where does the name come from?

Verso · 21/08/2008 11:11

So much for nesting. Have been doing bits and pieces this morning and then stood in what I think must have been hidden cat poo outside while weeding. Birkenstocks now banished outdoors as horrific pong and can't bear to clean them at mo. Must do more inside instead! barf

Verso · 21/08/2008 11:12

Beans your John Prescott dream makes me feel MUCH better about the near-obsession I had with Kevin McCloud when pg with DD . Doesn't seem to be anyone specific this time round... probably a blessing!

pixsix · 21/08/2008 11:25

Morning All,

Welcome lowrib! I have to move house too, in November when I'll be just gone 36 weeks . I'm hoping it won't be too bad but have a feeling I might be deluding myself....
