Sorry, totally missed that peanut discussion - Thanks Ladyt think i might have some when I get home from work!!

TheInvisibleHand · 20/08/2008 16:37

Hello all!

I'm afraid there's too much on here to do do much more than skim - hope you and your bumps are all very well.

Just back to work after our holiday. Also finally had a scan on Monday - all well, didn't find out what it was, but did get a funny little wave. DD came along, which was a pain (very wriggly 15 month old), but she did point to the screen at one point to say "me!" (normally something she does whenever she sees a photo of herself). Little does she know...

LadyThompson · 20/08/2008 16:55

Turnip, 5lb 6oz sounds very very good to me. I know what you mean about imposing, and I haven't a clue about neonatal units and visitor policy, but I know from a similar thing happening to a friend (girl now 4 and bursting with health after spending first 6 weeks of life in hospital) that just a different face for the Mum to chat to about it all was a help.

Good about scan, Invisible.

zoejeanne · 20/08/2008 16:56

I'm very pleased for both the invisible hand (for a good scan) and turnip (for a healthy niece) - 5lb 6 is great, and not that much below 'normal' (I think)

I've been trying to avoid peanuts, as I have excema (sp??) and hayfever - but only just found out that the nuts in crunchy nut cornflakes are peanuts - I thought they were almonds or something. It does say it in big letters on the box, so that must be pg brain acting there! Will now go with the good to expose in utero theory, as I think it must be too late! (I make up a new rule every day!!)

Olipop · 20/08/2008 16:58

Right, I'm leaving the office shortly....scan tomorrow! Eeeek...wish me luck!

Purple79 · 20/08/2008 16:59

turnip Wow 5lbs 6oz brillant news

Signing off now girlies, have a good evening all of you. x

LadyThompson · 20/08/2008 17:05

Good luck Oli, are you finding out the sex? Can't remember...

jumpjockey · 20/08/2008 17:41

Hello all! You're keeping busy again!

Turnip that's a great weight for your niece given her earliness, fingers crossed for them all. Hope you get to meet her soon

InvisibleHand it's really nice when they wave isn't it? In the photo from our 12 week scan junior looked to be giving a benediction so we're convinced it's a boy and he's going to be pope

Greed - blimey, tell me about it. Not quite Michael Phelps yet, but I've been having some fairly hefty snacking urges for the last week or two. Been trying to keep it healthy (yogurt and fruit, ryvita and honey) but today a twix snuck in, and they will have delicious danish pastries in the canteen here, what's a girl to do?

Bump was a bit painful today, it felt like I was really being 'stretched' when I got up. Is this just to do with the positioning overnight and how you wake up? I find it really hard to stay on my side so tend to sleep on my back but with one knee raised up to the side (usually kneeing poor H in the back ) so my pelvis is on a bit of an angle, is that ok in terms of blood supply etc?

Veggiemummy · 20/08/2008 19:08

Purple i have done a fair bit of yoga before but only really got serious about it after DS was born 3 years ago, for his pregnancy i bought a yoga DVD that was an easy beginner type one and it was so crap. Personally i think you would probably be fine with this one and she gives alternatives for some poses if you can't quite get into the poses. You'd be better keeping to the shorter 40 min sequence for now and see how you go with the longer one also you could look at going to a pregnancy yoga class, where do you live? a few of the girls on here go around London.

TYV LOL at your dinner lady giving you the curly fries bt cheeky but RESULT on free food.

I am s desperate for peanut butter (we are all out due to my recent gorging and also because i forgot to get some one the ocado shop. Speaking of which i forgot so many things on our online shop i have to do another one tonight.

I normally have no probs with John Lewis but DH and i went there to have a look at some big TV's a few years back and the sales assistant in the electrical section was one of those guys who clearly knows nothing about his products and was giving us really dumb comparisons between 2 products we were looking at. I was getting a bit bored and in an attempt to engage me he pointed out to me directly that i would like the flat screen TV as it was easy to clean!!!!! I nearly head butted him. DH giggled as the irony was that it was more likely him that would be bothered wiping down the TV.

EffiePerine · 20/08/2008 19:33

Turnip: a friend had her DS at 33 weeks (placenta praevia which became acute, needing emergency CS). He is now fine and his weight shot up in a few weeks . Hope your SIL and the baby are OK.

Have been doing some energency mat wear shopping with DS today - no chance of trying things on so I have to take a few things back for a bigger size . H&M sizes seem to come up rather funny. Good news is they have some lovely autumn stuff in. Also found some work trousers in Topshop (which do fit). And some reins for DS so we don't have any more A&E visits (not for that reason, anyway).

Veggiemummy · 20/08/2008 20:05

yeah Effie i had to go into the bigger size than i thought i should be with H&M maternity but then it is the same with there normal wear clothes, i am come up a size bigger which is why i usually don't shop there but i do like their matenity range. I haven't been in since the Autumn stock came in so may have to have a little browse.

Good news on the fatty bits front though is when we went to Greece in May for a wedding i was 11 weeks pregnant and had developed some unsightly flabby bits on my back just below my shoulder blades. have never had them so not very happy about the look in my cossies. Anyway when we went to the waterpark on sunday i wore the same cossies i wore to greece and when i had a little look in the mirror the flabby bits had dissappeared, so happy, also think i had better eat more as i am clearly wasting away

kmp1 · 20/08/2008 20:16

Jumpjockey - been feeling the same - really tight and achey especially up high, right after I eat and also in the mornings - I have noticed I can't eat even small servings in one go any more or I get the pains and aches - but I still do!

kmp1 · 20/08/2008 20:23

Veggie - I had flabby bits too which I developed at around 8 weeks from eating to combat the sick feeling - They have also gone a little - but I'm thinking they have just been pulled forward with the bump? What does everyone else think? They were not on my back but rather on my hips lol! Will they come back when the bump is gone and it's not stretching them forward or could I have REALLY lost the flab???? Anyone?

theyoungvisiter · 20/08/2008 20:23

I am also eating small portions (or trying to) as the old heartburn is starting up again - gahhhh - had forgotten (or deliberately suppressed!) how awful it is.

Gaviscon really is the most disgusting substance known to man, isn't it? It's like swallowing a mixture of toothpaste, spit and mashed up plasticine.

pixsix · 20/08/2008 20:25

JumpJockey I had that really tight feeling in my bump today too. It doesn't feel like my skin is too tight, more like something (the baby I guess!) is really pushing outwards and putting pressure on my bump from the inside.

Does that make any sense?? Is that similar to how others are feeling? (I'm 24 + 3 today if that's relevant...)

rosmerta · 20/08/2008 20:31

Not gettting any bump tightness but I think the baby is sitting quite low as my pelvis is killing me!

jump I've got the Tara Lee dvd and find the 40min one good, also the relaxation.

turnip hope your SIL and niece are doing well.

Just had a nightmare trying to eat my tea, did homemade chips & kept dropping them when I was trying to eat them, my trousers are covered in ketchup now

rosmerta · 20/08/2008 20:33

Steppie, glad your drains are now clear, this is why I don't let ds near any wipes!

Ds had a near miss in the park today, him & his friend were climbing up the slide, ds slipped & fell over the edge . Fortunately, his friend's dad was there, he just caught a leg otherwise ds would have landed clear on his head. Ds was ok, just a bit shaken up, as you would be!

OP posts:
rosmerta · 20/08/2008 20:34

Now that's a pg brain moment, that last post was meant for another thread

Indith · 20/08/2008 20:50

Lol Rosmerta, good catch by the dad though

Turnip that is fab news on the weight

Invisible, nice to see you and congrats on a lovely scan

Oli hope you have a good one too

Oli apples are far yummier than peanut m&ms, peanuts should not be sweet.

Must do maternity shopping, last time I didn't have to until much later so all wrong season, plus I had no money so hardly bought anything which didn't matter as I didn't have a ds then so could wash my own clothes rather more often!

Bump sometimes tight, depends on where the small one is sitting. He mostly sits really low and far back though, always feels like he is kicking backwards rather than forwards.

Baby must be growing now, I'm getting that horrible itchy skin feeling

mibbes · 20/08/2008 21:06

good news about your niece Turnip - congrats on becoming an auntie

ZJ my boobs were totally dry and flaky last week - seem better this week. I cover them in cream twice a day so was surprised when this happened - have also had wee dry itchy patches at the sides.. and the areolas also get super-dry - I just assumed it was normal PG booby change. I actually feel like the bottom part of my areolas are a bit swollen and almost numb , am hoping boobs preparing for BF by becoming less sensitive

All the best for scan Olipop and congrats on scan IHand Purple I haven't really practised yoga properly before (the odd random class years ago but that was it) and have done Tara a few times now - I did the full 70 min practise and it was fine, not too difficult and made me sleep really well Going to do the 40 min one in a minute.

Veggie hurray for disappearing flabby bits !

Another tight bump here - 25 weeks now and I notice it when I stand up from my desk.

rosmerta LOL at PG brain

Veggiemummy · 20/08/2008 21:34

pix your description of the internal pressure thing is exactly how my bump feels.

rosemerta you just reminded me i need to add stain remover to my shopping delivery. i hope the chips you dropped were still viable i hate losing food.

EffiePerine · 20/08/2008 21:37

Oli: is it your scan tomorrow? Good luck

JamInMyWellies · 21/08/2008 08:21

Hi everyone, gosh it is so difficult to keep up even when you miss one day.

Turnip really glad to hear your niece is doing well that is a good weigh for a premmie.

Invisible woohoo on the scan.

You are so tight abouot H&M sizes defo have to go up one especially on their trousers but then that could just be my thighs expanding at an alarming rate.

Jumpjockey one twix are you mad thats nothing yesterday apart from the 3 very big meals I ate I also had 2 bags of crisps some millionaires shortbread and some minstrels also managed to help DS polish off his tea.

I too am getting the internal pressure thing I like to think its mini munch stretching.

So had my midwife check up yesterday 24/3 and it looks like I have a bit of SPD she thinks its from yoga so all of you doing yoga be careful doing any movements which make oyur legs spread apart and put alot of pressure on the groin area. She also said when having sex to maybe do doggy instead of wrapping legs around my partner. This was all said infront of my nephew and niece who were visiting. Really hope they didnt go home and tell their mum.

Oli good luck for the scan today.

zoejeanne · 21/08/2008 09:10

olipop good luck with today's scan, hope it all goes well.

mibbes glad to hear I'm not the only one with dry boobs and I'm not a freak! Lots of baby lotion is improving things, but I'm worried that baby won't like the taste of that if it happens when I'm BF! I sleep really well after doing yoga too - even if it's just 10 minutes plus some breathing. How soon can we introduce babies to yoga?

Ok, so I'm a bit - after asking whether I should have the apple or choccy digestive yesterday, I went for the biscuit - and it turns out you lot are all health freaks and would have had the apple! I promise to eat it today.

Have a good day everyone
