Here we are! This should do us for a few weeks...

OP posts:

Yes true - both are effective at lengthening and conditioning the body and will help you with recovery after your birth - Its important to work the core muscles & pelvic floor muscles whenever you exercise...esp when pregnant.

Try them both - think its more about personal preference. I used to teach Fitness Yoga and it was more all over than just focusing on the core.

Hello all

Children are all safely ensconsed back in school and college - its too quiet! Went a bit bananas earlier in the week and bought a Graco excursion travel system from toys r us, a swinging crib and a moses basket. I couldn't hold out anymore - i just NEEDED to buy something for the baby ...

Find out next week which flavour im having which im rather looking forward to - its funny because everyone is saying ohhh i bet your holding out for a boy - but actually im not lol - in fact i have such a strong feeling that its going to be DD no 4 but hey ill be sooooo surprised if they say its a boy! I essentially just need more excuses to buy stuff (blue or pink).

Had glucose in my urine when i had blood pressure check at hospital earlier in the week ( which incedently was fine - i knew it was that bloody consultant winding me up that sent it sky high grrrr! ) so they have bought my GTT forward to this Monday but i was sort of expecting it anyway so no biggie just means no more ferrero rocher for me for another 5 months Ah well im sure my waistline will be grateful in the new year

MarkStretch · 04/09/2008 12:27

Rosie- I've just booked my GTT test, never had one before. What's it like?

Midwife was a bit bemused as to why I was having one as consultant has rather over exaggerated my BMI I THINK! But got one booked at the same time I have 28 weeks scan and consultant visit so I will be dashing all over the hosiptal like a loon apparently.

It does seem quiet doesn't it....

Here's a quote I found about February.

A new thread title I think

Singingintherain · 04/09/2008 13:00

Hi All,

Been very busy for a couple of days. My DD's started back to school today, after a ten week holiday. I am so lonely and feeling down. It is strange being back in control of the remote control again. Although, I expect them to take over after 4.00pm.

Funny heavy movments today that keep springing down on my bladder. Very strange sensation.

My youngest DD is about to take a two night trip with school to a farm and she is so worried as she has never stayed away from home for more than a night with my family. She is really bothered about missing the 20 week scan next week and wants me to call her with the result. I have tried to tell her that I want her to have a nice time and not to worry and that I would rather not call her. I have decided that should it be good news then I will text the teacher and if it is bad news then I shall wait until she gets home then she is none the wiser. I am not going to tell her of my plan as I do not want her to wait for the message and get upset if there is not oneiykwim.

Mamagoose - I do live in North Spain and are here until next June with my DH and his job. Whereabouts are you? I too have been bleeding throughout this pregnancy and was put on Prgesterone tablets. I had to take them internally and they are not very pleasant sorry for tmi. They seemed to have worked and I was told to stop taking them at 14 weeks as the hb was good and so was the size. At first I was small for my date so they moved it and now they have put the dates back as it is now quite big. They said that becuase I had had two MC's and then the bleeding in this pregnancy, it would help establish a healthy placenta. Good rest was needed and now the heamatoma has disappeared and have been told that the baby is very long.

rosieposey · 04/09/2008 13:04

Markstretch all you have to do is not eat before you go in (or scoff cereal late in the evening the night before a la moi ) - they make you drink a sugary drink first thing when you get there (it used to be lucozade which wasn't too bad but in some hospitals now you have to drink their own glucose drink which ive heard is a bit yukky) then they take your bloods before the drink, one hour after the drink and i think once again another hour after. Its not so bad as long as you do dont mind having your bloods taken but like you am surprised that you are having one done as i think you have to have a bmi of over 30 to flag up a GTT or a big baby or glucose in your urine ect - maybe its just a precautionary thing with your hospital and it cant do any harm i guess.

Am excited too as am off into London this weekend with DP (ex DH is having the girls woo hoo!) and going to see 'fat pig' at the trafalgar studios ( its a better play than it sounds ) plus its got Robert Webb in it and i love anything to do with Peep Show - then a night in a swanky hotel to finish off Lol a whole night alone... cant remember the last time!

Its so odd without the girls all arguing lol but tbh usually by this time id be back at uni anyway but there was no point in me going back part time for my last year as i would have just completely flunked around Feb and if im really honest im loving doing sod all for the next few months (till the lo comes along then i can offically say im a SAHM - but only till Sept then its back to uni again - urrgghhh and its dissertation year too - am soooo glad im having this year off - great timing! )

MarkStretch · 04/09/2008 13:06

My BMI is now 29 although HE has written it down as 31. [sulk]

Singingintherain · 04/09/2008 13:34

I have had a couple of GTT's here. I had to go having eaten nothing and they took a blood test. I was gven a drink which was just a bit too sweet, but not bad and then at regular intervals they took my blood. I was there a few hours as I had four blood tests in total. It was thought that I might have diabetes as I am large and have a problem with too much sugar. My blood test was high normally and did not flag anything up even after the test. I have not had to have any tests this time, but I still can not have much sugar without feeling a little off colour. But still on jelly sweets.

dinkystinky · 04/09/2008 13:58

How is it possible that your BMI is 29 Markstretch! You look tiny in your photo...

nkweto · 04/09/2008 14:00

hello,

feeling a bit blue today.. the whole family was felled by the flu over the holiday and it is just taking me forever to get over it.. feel totally wiped out. Working from home at the moment in an attempt to catch up and DH took DS back to nursery today, and apparently he was clingy and teary (normally he loves it).. and that is making me feel a bit teary.. oh dear i am just pathetic today.. apologies for whinning !!

Think it is post holiday blues as well, like SingingintheRain the house feels empty and sad ! I am not even normally here in the week.. deary me will stop now...

MarkStretch · 04/09/2008 14:15

Dinky- must be a good photo! I'm 166cms and 80kgs. Normally a size 14. I didn't think I was too overweight but my consultant seems to think otherwise.

It does wonders for one's confidence!

Nkweto, sorry you feel down, it's a funny time of year really isn't it with everyone back to school and nursery and back in a routine.

Singing- it's on the way!

spottyshoes · 04/09/2008 14:17

Hello everyone, hope you're all ok.
Haven't been on for a day and feel odd Just a quick one though as am at work and boss is on the prowl. I'm out tonight for 'drinks' after work. Going to try to be home for about 7.30 though as I have yet to miss a bedtime with DS!

Am also at your BMI MS judging by your pic. Are you sure they worked it out right?

rosieposey · 04/09/2008 14:20

Oh if my test comes back dodgy i dunno what im going to do without jelly babies either

I second that dinky - i mean markstretch you look really really small! Mind you i was reading someones post the other day who is only (and i know this is quite big for some people but its me at my smallest) a size 18 and the doctors gave her a really high bmi - i think its to do with height and body fat although i dont take much notice of it just tend to go on stones and dress sizes but i have silly sized norks so just like to blame them for a couple of stone . I think the midwife said my bmi was something like 35 or 37 - cant remember.

Aw nkweto thats rubbish about having flu its too early in the year for that! Actually on that subject i normally get a flu jab every October - what are the rules on them when preg?

nkweto · 04/09/2008 14:35

MarkStretch.. you really look small, you must be a pretty small size 14, I am surprised that your consultant thinks it is a problem. Seems pretty unfair to me !

I think you are right, it is just a funny time of year trying to settle back into our routines.

Singingintherain · 04/09/2008 15:27

I thought I would look at my BMI and I was quite surprised as a few years ago I was classed as high risk for an operation. I just checked it and I am 31.5. It says that I should be less that 30. I am 166cm and 87 kilos at the moment. I am not sure what I would be it I were not pregnant. I usually wear a size 20.

TinkerBellesMum · 04/09/2008 16:18

I wouldn't have said you look that big either. Although everyone was surprised that my BMI is 32, so I think there must be some secret stash somewhere!

I feel sorry for the mum (can't remember who it was now, it's on the pregnant and nursing thread I think) who is breastfeeding and pregnant and been told she has GD so has to watch what she eats. I don't know how she copes, she must feel awful

Did I say I've got my photoshoot with Bella tomorrow?

pluto · 04/09/2008 17:12

My paperwork at the hospital has been mixed up. They keep sending me appts which I don't need to go, somewhat annoying as each time I feel I have to phone to double check that this is yet another mistake on their part.

Houseofmirth - I'm obviously of the same proportions as you. 16 weeks but no visible bump. Still in most of my "normal" clothes only a couple of pairs of trousers where I can't do the button up and am using a hair band through the botton hole instead. I am quite tall and MW said I should expect it to be a while before I look preganant. With DS when I was 38 weeks I remember MW saying that my bump was quite small and he probably wouldn't be more than average sized. He turned out to be 9lb 3oz.

Singingintherain · 04/09/2008 18:10

When I was pregnant with my youngest DD they sent me for tests as I was showing as having a very big baby. I was obsolutely massive, but it turned out that she was only 7lb 4oz. I hope that I am only measuring big now and that I will have a baby of similar weight. Saying that though, I am very big again and certainly look more than 18weeks. I have been in maternity clothes from the beginning, mainly for the elastic waistband rather than for size.

thehouseofmirth · 04/09/2008 18:38

KT1983 I am very skinny normally and I think I also carry all my stress in my stomach muscles so they are very toned! As far as I know stretch marks are all to do with genes and you'll either get them or not. I didn't use any cream or oil with DS and don't have a single stretch mark.

it is certainly good t bein normal clothes as long as possible. All my old maternity stuff is the wrong season as DS was a July baby and I binned my maternity jeans when he was brn as I couldn't face seeing them ever again! So I'll have to start again. Hoping to get away with as little as possible.

pluto, I'm actually quite short but obvioulsy have an abdomen like the Tardis! So do you if you manged to hide over 9bls-worth of baby! Presumably this one will be bigger still...

One of my friends was told her baby would be a nice 7lbs and he turned out to be almost 12lbs. I think they just make it up as they go along.

MarkStretch · 04/09/2008 19:45

Oh my goodness what has happened to dd?

She came home from school wailing, stomping about, then hysterical laughter, then wailing, then a period of quiet followed my more hysteria and a lot of stomping and wailing before bed.

I'm exhausted!

Think it must be the emotional changes of being back at school but I honestly didn't know what to do with her tonight. I rang my mum who said 'icecream' but I didn't think she could cope with sugar on top of the mood swings!

laidbackinengland · 04/09/2008 20:45

Markstretch... sounds like you DD needs a low dose mood-stabiliser .

Sorry not to have been around much this week, have worked a couple of days and been away training.

DS2 has started school this week and is loving it but is also vvvvv. tired. I think it's all the change of being in a new environment.
