Would go for scooter option if only I was sure I could get DS to stop at roads - he doesnt now (or only under duress and only after throwing major tantrums at having to hold mummy's hand)

laidbackinengland · 01/09/2008 17:14

DS2 loves his mini micro scooter - but I'm not sure if I'd rely on it for a long long journey. I'm still having debates in my head about double buggy vs. buggy/buggyboard vs. buggy sling conundrum for DS3 and baby. I think I might just wait until baby is here or maybe if I see a cheap double on ebay I'll buy it and then sell it on if I dn't use it. Decisions, decisions.

DS2 starts primary school on Weds and I've just been to a parent governor/teacher day today where I learnt how to play the ukelele (well a bit !). Highly relevant lifeskill methinks !

spottyshoes · 01/09/2008 17:21

OMG Scooters? I'm guessing your lot are all older than mine (nearly 17 mths). I'm still umming and ahhing over the buggy dilema. (DS will be similar age by Feb Calico).

I love our Silver cross linear freeway, It looks practically as good as new, it's from birth to 4yrs, faces me, the car seat fits on the chassis and I'm loathed to get something new even if mum is paying! I'm thinking sling for newborn and ds in buggy for those long 'lose the baby weight' walks in the first 6 mths and a buggy board for quick trips to the shops? And maybe look at getting a lightweight cheap double stroller when this DC is 6mths and wouldn't need a 'from birth' one? What do you think? Good plan or too fussy and just bite the bullet and get the double straight away?

Work was the usual crap, got 4 more cases spread over 50 miles which will be great for the SPD (driving is uncomfy!) but thanks for thinking of me MS

spottyshoes · 01/09/2008 17:23

Another random one but: Is anyone else getting a hairy belly??!!!

nadssss · 01/09/2008 17:36

Yes on the hairy tummy front.

I am quite dark and these weird blonde hairs have started growing! I look like a lion. There is something weirdly feline about it (in a good-ish way) but mostly it is just embarrassing!

To those who know, will it go away after the baby is born?

onwardandupward · 01/09/2008 17:39

Yes, I think the extra hairs just sort of melt away. You wait till the vena nigra starts developing (peers over bump - nope, mine's not showing yet) - that's a moment when one thinks "am I turning into an alien?"

I have a spotty bottom now goes and hides in a hole

OP posts:
spottyshoes · 01/09/2008 17:40

Yes I had it with DS and they just disappeared - didn't really notice them go. Mine are blonde too and quite furry-sticky-up-like A fuzz all over my belly!!! I do remember getting about 6 darker hairs just below my belly button later on that I used to pluck

myangel08 · 01/09/2008 17:46

Yes i had it when i carried my little boy, and this time i've not got any and i'm carrying a little girl! Not sure if that has anything to do with it but you never know!!

herbgarden · 01/09/2008 18:04

Um, just checked and no hairs on this belly - it's just one big wobble.... I didn't get any hairs last time nor that line from belly to pubic bone. Weird how some get it and some don't.

Don't think I have a spotty bottom either but may have to check (or ask DH To check ).

I think I might buy ds a scooter for Christmas - I reckon he'd love it. He'll be 2.6 years by then and I really won't be able to catch up with him (bad idea then maybe !!).

MarkStretch · 01/09/2008 18:20

This is completely unrelated to anything we have been discussing but I have a tiny kitchen.

It is a tiny galley kitchen and it is the main route to the bathroom.

DH now cannot get past me to get to the bathroom as it mean I have to squish myself against the worktop and I can feel I am squashing the baby.

Sometimes I look at houses with big kitchens on Rightmove and weep.

I just posted this on my post about lamb stew by mistake. They must think I am mental.

laidbackinengland · 01/09/2008 18:39

MS.... I think having a bigger kitchen is very relevant to lamb stew !

I'm v. lucky we rent a big house with a big kitchen from a batty old woman who has no knowledge of 'modern' prices...(see my profile for a picture of my house...shameless gloat at batty landlady situation

spottyshoes · 01/09/2008 19:14

I wonder if it is related to the sex then? Did you have a boy O&U? and did you have a girl Herb?

I consider my kitchen fairly large but it just means there is more crap in the cupboards and more to keep tidy! I want a huge garden with a lovely big veggie plot.

Lol, I bet others will come on and say - I've got a huge garden and it's a bugger to maintain! We always want what we haven't got.

Lovely house btw laidback

A non-spotty bottom here! Still pizza chin though

thehouseofmirth · 01/09/2008 19:20

Hello All, haven't posted for ages though just about mange to read the thread & keep up to date.

I have a question for the Doppler Gang (gediit?!). Have been using mine daily despit emy best intentions and always found HB but it is still really, really low down i.e as far down as is possible really. I'm almost 17 weeks. Is that normal?

spottyshoes · 01/09/2008 19:44

Could be the way the baby is lying?

MarkStretch · 01/09/2008 19:55

Laidback- your house is gorgeous.

Is that you with the curly hair? What are you- 12?!?! You look so young!

MarkStretch · 01/09/2008 19:57

House- my baby's HB is still really low down too, about knicker line. I'm 17 weeks too.

dinkystinky · 01/09/2008 20:17

Evening everybody - Laidback, your house is lovely! Mind you with nearly 4 kids you definitely need one as lovely and big as that Markstretch - we had a galley kitchen in our old flat and when I was 8 months pregnant with DS, DH and I actually got wedged in there for a minute or so when I turned around unexpectedly - one to watch out for as you get bigger!

Spottyshoes - I have the hairy belly thing going on, but am just more hairy allover as well (queue bi-weekly leg waxes) when pregnant. Had it with DS and have it this time round too. One of the reasons why I think I'm pregnant with a boy this time too.... I think your approach with the doublebuggy decision sounds wise as you'll be able to get a double buggy quite quickly if you want one when baby is here - and may even be easier to figure out which one you want if you have both kids to check out buggies with.

laidbackinengland · 01/09/2008 20:19

MS ...you flatter me. I am the one with the curly hair - I'm 34. B + W film is V. flattering

spottyshoes · 01/09/2008 20:24

Thanks DinkyS, think I will give it a go and play by ear when s/he comes. Hmmmm so boys could definately make us hairy. 4 weeks-ish until I find out. What about you?

BUST MY BUFFERS! Laidback!!! I want what you're taking!!!

onwardandupward · 01/09/2008 20:30

I don't think boy/girl makes any difference to how hairy we get. Never heard of any correlation there

But spotty. Oh God, I am hating how spotty I am. I was probably this spotty last time, but I never thought to look at my back or behind. weeping gently

OP posts:
laidbackinengland · 01/09/2008 20:40

Onward.... just don't look ....ignorance is bliss!

MarkStretch · 01/09/2008 20:43

BUST MY BUFFERS! Hooohooohooohoooowooooo! lol!

spottyshoes · 01/09/2008 20:51

I'm trying not to swear!!! I heard a wee toddler about DS's age say shit in Tesco's and i'm really aware I swear too much, So I'm practising replacing Fuck Me with something a bit more kid friendly Makka Pacca is also a good substitute!

spottyshoes · 01/09/2008 20:52

What's hooohooowooo btw?

MarkStretch · 01/09/2008 21:01

That was me howling with laughter!
