Morning all. Thoughts and prayers for CC and good luck to gigglegirl.

4am and wide awake here, so I'll say yes please to a nice cup of decaf coffee, some cake if it has been cooked yet, and head back to bed ...

FoghornLeghorn · 01/08/2008 08:09

Thanks for the Piriton tip Sarah. We are gearing up for a chemist run as soon as it opens as she's starting to itch !

Bealcain - gosh thats a long time .

I know the baby is fine while I'm still pregnant as I'm immune but am starting to freak slightly incase the baby comes before DD1 is all scabbed over. How the hell do you keep a 4 year old away from their new baby brother or sister That's without DD2 catching it, which will just prolong everything

bealcain · 01/08/2008 08:10

if you;re intending on breastfeeding FHLH then baby will be fine

FoghornLeghorn · 01/08/2008 08:10

Sazzles - Completely understand your concerns about the VBAC. It must be such a hard decision to make. Are you able to wait it out and see how you feel or do elective's not work like that ?

FoghornLeghorn · 01/08/2008 08:13

Unfortunately not Bealcain I started a thread in health and someone went through exactly the same 6 months ago. 3 yr old caught CP, 3 days later newborn DD born, then 4 year old caught, then newborn was admitted to hospital and on IV for 3 days (all with only 4 spots and not very ill at all, apparently it's procedure for such young babies ) Baby was exclusively breastfed too. Apparently it's innevitable for the newborn if siblings have it

oopsacoconut · 01/08/2008 08:13

Morning - No baking this morning got cleaning to do!!!

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH It's August does that mean we are all having babies????

GG _ good luck today can't wait to hear who you have.

CC - {{HUGGLES}} and prayers hope they let you have Jerry soon.

Bealcain and SARAH Hope things get going for you both.

oopsacoconut · 01/08/2008 08:16

FHLH - I have to say it's not inevitable - my last lot of kiddies the little Girl got CP the day her brother was born, She got spotty and we let her cuddle him, he was bf and never got the CP - he was tested for immunity when we thought he was ill with something else and he has fully immunity and never had it. Hope this happens in your cse.

pertelote · 01/08/2008 08:40

Morning all! Sorry to hear about the CP Foghorn, that's the last thing you need... and {hugs} to CC, you must be really sick of that hospital!

So, due today, I don't suppose I'll be as prompt and efficient as Miamla though! There are no signs of anything happening here so I fully expect to still be there at the top of the list as dozens of you ladies overtake !

Good luck gigglegirl, and anyone else who's imminent...

FoghornLeghorn · 01/08/2008 08:45

That makes me feel better Oooops
I'm not bothered about the CP in general, I've always said I'd rather the DC's got it out of the way etc but jeez, talk about shocking timing !

PetitFilou1 · 01/08/2008 08:59

Morning all

Pain au chocolat anyone?

Thanks for all your good wishes. I had a face like thunder yesterday evening - was not happy! Ds particularly has been awful. Dd has had dh up half the night ('daddy, I want you to lie next to me') just as he is about to go onto nights for the w/e. He is now having a lie in... so I hope he wakes up recovered.

Foghorn You poor thing, chicken pox to deal with at this stage... not fun. You may just about get away with it as it is usually a week or so for the spots to scab over.

CCSorry to hear you are back in hospital. You must just feel like camping there by now.

I really can't believe it is AUGUST. Ds2 has wriggled down a bit more I think as I can feel more space between boobs and bump this morning. Here's hoping I only have two weeks to go.....but then this is a boy and therefore bound to stay in

Buckets · 01/08/2008 09:01

Goodie2shoes, hi there! I found I had to book my MW appts at least 2wks in advance in order to get one that didn't clash with schoolrun. But it's always worth phoning the day before the MW is in and checking for cancellations.

DD is starting to make worried noises about staying with DH's parents by herself Mon&Tues eves so now I have to squeeze in a visit Sunday to reassure/reacquaint her.
Having a Mystic Spray Tan tomorrow so I can feel a bit more glam whilst sat on my arse feeding a baby for the summer. Anyone know how peculiar you look in the hours between spray and washing it off? I've had St Tropez before and that was definitely not a look one would want to go public with!

PetitFilou1 · 01/08/2008 09:03

Cyteen re your friend. Dh has lots of friends with August birthdays who are doing very well for themselves. I hope she realises that not everyone finds it easy to get pregnant in the first place - I was lucky but have so many friends who've struggled for months if not years, had a miscarriage in between every pregnancy etc etc Not surprised you feel like getting a bit stroppy with her about it!

August girls should be fine. There is a theory that boys shouldn't start school til 7 anyway as their brains are different so a September baby with an extra 2-3 terms of pre-school might have an advantage in terms of preparation for the pressure. But I'm sure loads of Mumsnetters would come on and tell how well their DS have settled in to Year R. And the whole Sep-Jul school system might be overhauled by then anyway and it will be Jan babies people will be avoiding.

So, Capt Caveman's trying to queue jump too is she? Don't blame her, fingers crossed eh?

bealcain · 01/08/2008 09:27

if your child is born after may you have the right to keep your child in nursery during what would be their reception year. although many people dont as the theory is that friendships will already have been made.

poppysocks · 01/08/2008 09:56

FHLH - Sorry to hear about the chickenpox. Just an extra worry. Echoing what others have said though, hopefully it won't be a problem for the baby. My brother and sister were born at 29 weeks and understandably were v. fragile. On the day that we were going to collect them from hospital I woke up with chickenpox. They still came home and didn't pick it up until years later. Apparently even if they haven't been breastfed, there should be enough immunity from you for 3-4 months. Biggest problem likely to be hospital proceedures! LOL

Sazzles- I'm still not settled on my decision. I was awake a lot last night wondering whether I should put the section back and give LO a chance to at least start off naturally. My hospital has said that if I get there asap after things have started, they would put me on the emcs list or let me try, depending on how I feel at the time. Sounds like the best solution to me. Guess that's one reason why I just feel going in 6 days early is too early. My DH is the opposite of yours and although I know he'd listen if I really changed my mind, he's not really entertaining my prevarication. As discussed before, actually the choice is in some ways the hardest bit. Sorry - must stop waffling. I've come to the conclusion that my worst case scenario is what happened to sarah's friend and in the absence of any other reasoning, avoiding that is best. I could go round and round this circle for ever.

Thinking of you today cc and gg. Hope all is well with you too jenny.

AnnVan · 01/08/2008 09:58

Hi all - just took about half hour to catch up sheesh! Good news though - I ACTUALLY SLEPT LAST NIGHT!!!! LA LA LA LA LAAAAAA!!

Sorry to all those whoo've had crap nights but I have to be happy. First time in weeks Ive managed to sleep at night. Admittedly I did wake up at 3am, and took a while to get back off, but still...

Have to be honest, re whole school year thing, I don't actually understand how it works (with regard to when kids start that is) But I'm from SA and there the school year runs Jan to December.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/08/2008 10:02

I dont fully understand the school year thing either. I am due on 30th august.

I have a brother who is 17 on the 25th of August and I do seem to remember teachers saying he would be better staying on in same year for another year before going to comprehensive school, but like someone mentioned friendships established etc...

poppysocks · 01/08/2008 10:09

Whole school year thing irrelevant for those of us north of the border as it works March-Feb for working out which peer group they're in, but is a lot more flexible within it. Therefore August is actually a pretty good time to be born. It's poor DD at 26th Feb, who's badly placed up here.

CaptainCaveman · 01/08/2008 10:17

oh my word. We are having the baby today!!!!! Should be going to theatre around lunchtime .
Cons says its only a matter of time til i develop PET so he is happy to whip jerry out today.
Still got headache but am very excited!! . Dh nipped home to get the camera

Apols for queue jumping

bealcain · 01/08/2008 10:18

yay CC thinking of you

FoghornLeghorn · 01/08/2008 10:18

WOW CaptainCaveman How exciting !!!!

FoghornLeghorn · 01/08/2008 10:20

Just been to chemist to get DD some piriton. Pharmacist pulled me to the side and said she didn't want to worry me up but really urged me to speak to midwife as coming into contact with CP and being in close proximity to it 24/7 were very different. My midwife is impossible to get hold of !

Shazza2002 · 01/08/2008 10:21

Morning ladies

Sorry for those who've had a crap night. I actually had the best night sleep I've had in a long time. So after energy burst yesterday, and lovely restfull nigth, today would be a good day. But it's just not gonna happen so I'll just sit myself in the grumpy corner

Thinking of all the babies 'in progress' Would be good if we managed 1/2 everyday, would keep us all happy

My next appointment is Wednesday, by which I'll be 4 days overdue. I know they will probably talk about booking an induction for a few days later

Sorry about CP FHLH, if the spots are out hopefully they will have time to scab over before baby arrives xx

bealcain · 01/08/2008 10:23

fog if you've had it, thne you're immune, there's no harm to baby! both of mine have had it in last 3weeks!!! as long as you;re immune there really is nothing to worry about.
