Humph men are terrible. You'd have thought dp would have some idea of how to cope with a hormonal pg version of me but he keeps asking what is wrong when I overreact so I have to spell it out that I'm overreacting because I'm pg. He follows that up with "well as long as you know that it is just because you are pg". Plus when I'm in tears and just want a hug he makes me look up at him and give eye contat and tell him what is wrong etc. Shut up you stupid man and let me cry into your chest!

Beans as others have said you will want stuff for later on as so many people will give you newborn gifts. If she wants to get you some of the actual big "stuff" then could you suggest that you all go shopping together..in a "we've seen this what do you think, come and look at it with us" kind of way? Your dh can't object to choosing and then someone else paying can he?

pixsix · 05/08/2008 14:59

Thanks everyone, well the bleeding seems to be slowing down and I've felt the baby move a bit so am feeling slightly reassured.

rosmerta I hope the note on the fridge does the trick.

EffiePerine · 05/08/2008 15:05

Re the Mat B1 I think you need to get it from your mw/surgery at about 20 weeks.

Pixsix: how worrying for you . You didn't have a low-lying placenta at the 20 week scan? Hope things settle down soon.

Hugs to Reban, Waitinggirl and others having pg worries. Doesn't stop, does it? My 20 week scan is in a week and I'll be v pleased to get it out of the way.

Beans: we have to move pronto (small flat, 2nd babyon the way) despite the market. We also reckon that if the value of our flat falls, so will the value of the houses we're looking it (esp as we'll be moving out of London).

Veggiemummy · 05/08/2008 15:12

oh beans if only your dh knew how much he is going to have to buy in the years to come, remind him it is her grandchild, actually don't bother, just have a chat you your mum about what she wants to buy and maybe you could compromise and get vouchers and then he can choose the stuff.

Rosemerta well done with the note on the fridge, hope he reads and feels really bad, and buys you chocolate,

man i am really feeling like chocolate now, why don't we have any in the house, i'm so sleepy this afternoon i think i might need more caffiene.

Beans maybe you could find one of those cinemas with the big comfy seats. we saw X-files the others night and i just made it through without needing to go out to the loo and was a bit fidgety in the seats, my bottom keot gettng numb, they had those reclining seats but not soft enough, next time i think i need the big soft ones at the cinema with the bar thing.

Beans33 · 05/08/2008 15:25

Thanks Veggie - think I'll probably just not drink anything for a couple of hours beforehand!!

Re DH I think his problem is that he feels emasculated (not that he would know what that means or how to spell it - meoooow!) when other people offer to pay for things. He wants to be the man of the house. I'm just worried that we're going to be struggling in a few months and think we should save our cash for then. Ho hum!

TBH, I think I'll just be all bendy and go with the flow - do whatever to keep him happy. Better than having a row and feeling rubbish for days on end. Perhaps Mum could just give us some cash - that would be nice instead!!! (new shoes etc!

EffiePerine · 05/08/2008 15:35

I'd ask your mum for vouchers, to be spent after the baby arrives so you can buy useful stuff .

Veggiemummy · 05/08/2008 15:36

or your mum could spend the money on you, get you a nice pedicure or some clothes or.....chocolate, god i really feel like chocolate, i wonder if i can convince DH to go get me some, why do i not keep it in the house oh just remembered DS's milkyway chocolate stars!!!!

EffiePerine · 05/08/2008 15:38

actually if she wanted to be really nice, what about one of those pampered mums-to-be spa thingies? Where you have massages and get your toenails painted and lie around with a mag - perfect when you're on maternity leave...

EffiePerine · 05/08/2008 15:39

VM: I have one of those boxes of mini Green and Black choc bars (DH bought me one the other day, I was v impressed). Proper little bars rather than the after-dinner size things.

zoejeanne · 05/08/2008 15:42

effie I love those - please can you share??

Z.x

Beans33 · 05/08/2008 15:44

Oh yum. I love Green & Black's milk choc. Deeelicious!

Annagt · 05/08/2008 15:58

girls,
I haven't been on for about 2 months and see I've missed a lot although I don't even think I can read it all so forgive me if I'm repeating some discussion.
Here's the thing- my boobs are leaking! and they won't stop- making my shirt wet! is this normal? I guess if it was to happen, pregnancy would be the time but I thought that this didn't start till you actually delivered- not 4.5 months!
ugh!!!

Veggiemummy · 05/08/2008 16:00

OMG what are you guys trying to do to me!!!!! i just tried some of DS's chocolates they are crap. I need G&B 85% coco dark choc and i need it now.

Just a little warning for you about your DH i'm not sure if this happened to anyone else DH's or Dp's when you had your last babies but mine, who is very sensible and really just the best guy around and on a pretty good wage had a complete feak out when DS was about 3months old. He lamented that he didnt earn enough money, that he couldn't provide a good house for us (we did live in a 1bed flat in london but i loved it and it was adequate at the time) and he insisted that he wanted to do contract work to get more money. I calmed him down and explained that i didnt want more money i wanted my sons dad to be around and was happy with what he earned. he eventually calmed down and we ended up moving to a 3 bed that we got for a bargain (thank goodness in view of current housing crash).

the boys seem to get their own attack of the 'hormones' at some stage.

Veggiemummy · 05/08/2008 16:07

ooh not sure on that one Annagt i had like i tiny weeny little dribble last time a week before DS came. You must have some serius hormones going on, i'm sure someone has experienced this. Are your boobs full and sore.

Annagt · 05/08/2008 16:13

Not really full, I mean they have grown, I think {hmm} but I haven't had a need for a new bra yet. They have been hurting really badly periodically - just the nipple
(I know, a little graphic- Sorry about that) but the hurting comes and then goes within a few minutes. Hurts like hell when it comes though...

rosmerta · 05/08/2008 16:17

annagt I think your breasts can start leaking quite early on. Might be worth getting some breast pads that will absorb the leaking.

veggie I hope he gets me some chocolate as well! & yes G&B would be lovely, yum!

Veggiemummy · 05/08/2008 16:19

oh yeah breast pads would be a good idea it is amazing how well breast milk can soak your top. I'd have several spares with you.

rosmerta · 05/08/2008 16:19

annagt, it might be worth getting your bra size checked. I remember last time my breasts got sore, once I got new bras it got better. But also, your breasts are developing milk ducts etc to get ready to feed your baby which is probably going to hurt a little!

reban · 05/08/2008 16:21

hi all and thanks for messages of support. Hugs to all those having worries now too.

I am waiting for a callback from my consultant as i want to know if its really ness to wait 4 weeks for another scan. so hopefully will get some more answers soon.

Beans honestly if this is your first i would accept all financial help you can get, but if your dh doesnt want to accept it at the moment why dont you suggest to your mom that she holds fire and gets you something later on(like a cot)that you wont ness need from the start. Or if its only the exciting stuff he is into buying ask your mom to provide you with nappies for the first year .. that would save you a fortune!

Annagt i have heard of leaking boobs this early, you maybe one of those women who has a very generous milk supply. Stock up on breast pads and have a word with your midwife.
xx

EffiePerine · 05/08/2008 16:26

Anna: I had leaky boobs last time round - can;t rmmeber when it started. Breast pads are a good idea, Tommee Tippee and Lansinoh do nice slimline ones. I think it calmed down so wasn't constant, I just kept a stash in my bag for emergencies

Beans33 · 05/08/2008 16:28

Annagt - I read on a website about breasts starting to leak now, so perhaps don't panic and see what happens. Might be worth calling your midwife or GP to check it out?

Reban - good idea on the speaking to Mum about something later on. Perhaps on the quiet as well!

Veggiemummy · 05/08/2008 16:30

oh just remembered a what not to buy, if you are planning on using cloth nappies don't get the birth to 3 year all in one packs. i did that of 'cotton bottoms' and they were fine at first but then i started trying out other nappies and found i liked the more shaped nappies so bought a load of them and so didnt use some of the larger sizes of the 'cotton bottoms' also if there is a nappt service in your area use them for a few weeks just to see if it is for you. Also for the first few weeks use disposables, it is hard to get really small cloth nappies and at least give yourself a few weeks to get used to having a baby before you get into the cloth nappy thing.

Annagt · 05/08/2008 16:32

I know this might sound naive, but... Where do you go and buy breast pads? Sorry- it's my first time and I've put off buying anything yet. My grandmother's gift of two onezies is all we have so far...

Veggiemummy · 05/08/2008 16:34

beans you could always suggest to DH that he could look after you for free, that is a very masculine and proper thing for a husband to do, and he could start by using his strength & carrying things upstairs for you i.e. the clean washing!!!

reban · 05/08/2008 16:36

boots, mothercare, supermarket. You will find them in the baby section with things like maternity pads and nipple cream. They may be in huge boxes but dont be put off you can get through quite alot when breast feeding xx
