You do need more salt when it's warm as when you sweat you excrete salt but just drinking won't replace it fast enough.

Having an AWFUL day!
row with dh last night
could hardly sleep at all, maybe only had a couple of hours, so hot and uncomfortable
Just had a massive row with ds about his tiny bit of homework (he's got to practice his writing a little every day the school says0
Then I massively tidied and cleaned the house for a friend to come for a cup or tea and cake and then she blew me out.

Am so pathetically miserable! Am going to try to have an early night, maybe it's the hormones too!
Hope all are well, have been offline for days so am not up to date at all.

lollipopmother · 29/07/2008 17:33

Ipanemagirl I feel your pain, all of the above would royally p*ss me off, it's your hormones and the fact that it's too hot to sleep, and then too hot to move during the day.

ipanemagirl · 29/07/2008 17:43

thanks v much lollipopmother, the row with dh is the worst thing of course plus being mean to ds, I jsut don't feel up to the amount there is to do before this baby arrives. Not least mother in law coming to stay in the spare room which is in some chaos!
I had no idea how hard a summer pg was! People always said they're hard but my last was a winter one, so much easier, yesterday was hell. Thank GOD it's a bit cooler today.
Sorry for moaning, it looks so little in black and white. Hope all are well!

dobbins · 29/07/2008 17:52

you can tell some of us have stopped work already, 360 posts in under a week!

I am feeling really rough today. I am really breathless and faint. I don't think it's anaemia, I can only guess that the baby has wedged herself into my lung space . I think I will collapse into bed and hope tomorrow is better, got Pilates in the morning and don't want to miss it as it's a lovely chilled out class. It might just shift the baby about a bit and give my lungs some room.

starlight dead pleased to hear you have found a nice birthing unit at last .

starlight that's the funny thing. the baby is head down (although wasn't engaged at last weeks check up) and my heartburn had virtually stopped a few days ago. Now I'm huffing and puffing and on the gaviscon again. Feel like a Victorian lady in a corset, I had to check I hadn't put on the wrong size bra earlier as I felt so restricted.

mustsleep · 29/07/2008 19:59

meglet i can sympathise about the heart burn i mut go through bottles of the stuff

meglet · 29/07/2008 20:04

I do rather like the Gaviscon advance mind you. After I had had DS I was pondering whether to throw it away or just have the odd spoonful as a treat so as not to waste it .

(I did bin it in the end).

Kel78 I read a great book when bf DD - "What to Expect When You're Breastfeeding....and What if You Can't" by Claire Byam-Smith. It was full of common problems and the solutions. In fact I might borrow it back off my friend before DS arrives!

MummyToOneForNow · 29/07/2008 20:58

Got the maternity pads this week as having to pack my bag before we go on holiday on Saturday - just in case .

For first timers - you will need loads more than you think - take at least 2 packs into hospital - I had dd in the early hours and had to send dh out for some the same day as I stayed in for one night and the bleeding was so heavy. I found some more comfortable than others on my stitches - I liked the Boots ones (regular not slimline) more than the Tesco ones - so perhaps don't get too many in case you find them uncomfortable. Once it had slowed down a bit I switched to normal pads - took about 4 weeks to stop completely for me can very quite a bit though. The things that no-one tells you...

lollipopmother · 29/07/2008 21:01

Hi notsoslimnow, welcome to the madhouse!

I know I've gone a bit over the top with my hospital bag because I've got five packs of Smarties, five packs of Fruit Pastills and a pack of Digestives in it! I do have some other stuff though, pads (cheaped out on Tesco's own night pads), towels, nighties and all that jazz, I'm completely ready to go now but just seeing the bag there is starting to freak me out, I'm getting more nervous by the day!

I washed a two bags full of baby clothes yesterday and I started ironing them today, they are just so cute, don't quite know what to do with them all though there's just so much stuff!

caribee · 29/07/2008 21:15

No i don't think the postman is holding my letter hostage. I am just getting no letters at all. 2 days without post is just about unheard of at this house, even if just junk mail.

I am however expecting a couple things + a wrap sling from bigmamaslings now so I will be dogging who I think is the replacement postman in the morning.

caribee · 29/07/2008 21:17

I got Always nighttime pads last time, suggested on MNers. They are supposedly better than maternity pads. I found they held up v well but then I only know my own body.
