Due April 2009? Am I really the first?

Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

Hi everyone Finally phoned the GPs this morning to see about getting my appt for referral to midwives. The first two GPs I asked for weren't available, so mentioned a 3rd one and she had a cancellation for this afternoon, so didn't have to wait any time at all to get in! Got my big fat envelope of all the baby mags/books (and junk papers! lol) as well as my maternity notes to start filling out! How exciting! She'll write to the midwives tonight and hopefully I should hear from them soon. Thought I'd better get things rolling since I'm already 7 weeks now and want to be able to get my scan at 12 weeks. I was sooo relieved to get a positive response from the GP this time, as when I went to a different GP for my 2nd pregnancy the horrid doctor asked me "if the pregnancy test comes back positive, do I want to keep the baby?" Perhaps it helped that this time when the doc asked me what I was there for I told her I wanted to be referred to the midwives because I was 7 wks pregnant. Maybe I just said I think I'm preg the other time - but still! It was such an uncalled for question - to anyone really, but especially to a perfectly happy, healthy, married woman! Anyway, this GP seemed pleased and said congratulations etc, so was a relief.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling! Need to get to bed soon. I keep getting awful headaches - anyone else? Seems some women do get pregnancy headaches, but not had any with my 2 previous children - tho I've always been headache prone since I was a teenager. But a verry sore head really makes it hard to cope with the other miserable sick feelings...

OddEyes · 18/08/2008 23:26

Yes, sore head here! Been feeling sick all day, been drinking lots of ginger ale and ginger and lemon tea. Ds in nursery today but have not redeemed the time - watched Olympics and slept. Not sure how will cope going back to school.
Saw doc today who has refered me on and suggested I wait until next week for the scan too, thanks for all the responses - helps to be told to sit tight.
JenJam hope you able to rest a little over the next few days.

SalBySea · 18/08/2008 23:40

I'm sleeping ALL THE TIME!!

have completely stopped exercising too! I'm KNACKERED!

mrsfossil · 19/08/2008 09:31

Hello everyone and welcome to newbys,

Jenjam am thinking about you and hoping its not bad news, look after yourself.

Salstars - don't worry too much about symtoms. I hardly had any with ds1, all i had was v,tired and i went off wine and then grew quite large! My midwife said the lack of sickness had nothing to do with pregnancy hormones or wether there would be any problems. This time i have felt a little bit quesy like i've got off a rollar coaster and have sore boobs and feel tired, so i guess we are lucky

Kalikaroo · 19/08/2008 09:44

Hi everyone and welcome to all the newbies - can't believe how many we are now!

I've got my first appointment with the midwife on the 1st september and yesterday I was 8 weeks pg! Still having a bit of brown bleeding everyday (since last sunday), but I'm sort of getting used to it and panicking less about it because it doesn't seem to be developing into anything worse.

Have felt nauseous for the last few days and have the smell of cooked onions in my nose ALL the time for some reason!! Does anyone else have weird smelling sensations????

I'm swinging between feeling sick and being starving all the time and I'm completely knackered. Have gone off coffee, tea, chewing gum, and looking at the box of syrup waffles I bought in amsterdam a couple of weeks ago makes me retch!! Bizarre!

Have a total craving for coco pops!

Morning everyone,

Jen, how are you this morning?

Kalikaroo, this is a big pregnancy thing for me too, I can smell everything! Sure its why I was so sick last time. I started retching again this morning, so know I'm definitely pregnant! Lol. Hope it goes early this time, and doesn't hang around for the whole 8 months..

DungunGirl · 19/08/2008 12:04

oddeyes

Scan next week? My midwife and GP have told me to wait until 12 weeks! Even with the last MC and my PCOS.

They said that only consultants in my PCT can refer for early scans and they can't! So boo!!!!

I am joining the sick club...mild nausea kicked in yesterday.
Been keeping it at bay all morning by munching on table water crackers...will need to get some flavoured sparkling water at lunch time otherwise I am going to gain so much weight it won't be funny!

6 and a half weeks today, can't wait to hit 7 weeks....then i will have at least bypassed the point I miscarried last time.

DungunGirl · 19/08/2008 12:05

Anyone else get all teary when watching the music clip of 'IT'S OUR WORLD' on Cbeebies?

Ok then...just me then?

These pregnancy hormones are mad! I wasn't like this with my DS....maybe it is a sign it is a DD this time!

Fingers crossed!

mathsmummy27 · 19/08/2008 12:12

Kalikaroo, totally with you on the coco pops mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

oddeyes I'm going to have some serious adjusting to do in Sept too...especially as we're moving dept on first day back (might have to tell them then, no carrying boxes for me...)

Jumbs · 19/08/2008 12:30

Hi everyone, haven't posted for a while and its taken ages to catch up!

I've had tears in my eyes reading the messages, some for the ladies who've had bad news and some for the ladies who've seen heartbeats, and twins, wow!

Hello to all the newbies, and there are lots and lots of you!

Is anyone else eating loads? I would get an olympic gold in eating! I've had two breakfasts and eaten all my lunch! I'm looking big but that must be all the food!

Seeing midwife today, so early! I didn't see one until 12 wks last time. Anywat as found out my PCT now do 12 wks scans, woo hoo! Saved me paying for a private one as when I was pg in 06/07 they only did 20wk ones.

foxymagoo · 19/08/2008 12:42

Afternoon all,

Well I threw up for the first time last night - been feeling sick all day at work but really busy so no time to wallow in it. Got home, stuffed my face silly then threw up after I put DS to bed. The only thing that keeps the nausea at bay is eating little amounts constantly...

I've also abandoned the gym for now and am feeling unfit and fat BUT planning on going back once everything settles down ().

I would recommend green tea if you have gone off standard tea. Very refreshing yet bland.

Off to peruse the new autumn/winter 'Joules' clothing catalogue online... Well worth a peek.

DungunGirl · 19/08/2008 13:27

foxymagoo

I know what you mean about feeling fat and unfit. I stopped going to the gym too and I can feel the fat returning!

Jumbs · 19/08/2008 13:42

I think I've put on about 6lbs already, yikes! I've stopped exercising too, but hope to resume when I'm less sick/tired. I did do a long bike ride on friday, and amazingly felt better rather than worse afterwards!

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 19/08/2008 13:48

Hello all, hope everyone is feeling ok.

JenJam - thinking of you, hope you're ok

I too seem to be gaining weight at an absurd rate - got a really sticky out tummy already, but some of that was there already, to be honest.....

thought I'd share my other pregnancy tip with all you lovely ladies - Ovaltine.

Last thing at night, stops me feeling so sick in the night and also first thing in the morning. also, it's fortified with folic acid, so it's very healthy! But don't get the stuff you make with water, it's rank. original Ovaltine with hot milk only!

have lovely days, all.

Hello
I'm due 20th April & amover the moon! TCC 8 months for dc no. 2 & has only just been to fertility clinic to book in for all kind of tests, when a week later got BFP!
Congrats to you too!
Have you told anyone yet? I haven't, want to wait a few more weeks (had m/c few months back at 7wks so want to get my own head round it all first)

hopeful1 · 19/08/2008 15:36

Hi all,

Went for my scan today. I am 6+3 which is one day behind where I thought I was. New EDD 11th April 09. Saw sac, fetus was 5mm and had a heart beat. They saw a second sac but couldnt see anything in it at present so due to go back in 2 weeks for repeat scan!! My sister has twins and my um said if it was twins she was going to leave the country. I dont care as long as I have one with a heart beat thats all I care about!! No m/s yet but gone off meat!! Feel really bloated, clothes are tight and occasional stomach cramps!!

DungunGirl · 19/08/2008 16:13

hopeful1

How wonderful to see the little one and a heartbeat to boot!

StorkExpectedInApril · 19/08/2008 17:25

hopeful, wow, that must've been great to see the heartbeat! Out of interest, did you have the scan done privately? I've never heard of such early scans being done on the NHS. Did you get a scan pic too?

BabyBolat · 19/08/2008 18:13

Hi there, Just wanted to add myself to the April expectees!

I am 8 weeks now so due 5th April and have had the most hideous nausea and sickness (along with that truly horrid horrid taste in my mouth) since week five!

It's my first pregnancy and no one really prepares you for it! I was so excited in week 4 and now I am wondering why no one tells you about the m/s and constant tiredness!!! So glad to have other people that know what I am going through (none of my friends have kids yet!).

So sorry to hear some of the bad news, and so happy for all of you that are getting ready for your newbees!

Doesn't 30+ weeks seem so long.....

salstars · 19/08/2008 18:23

Hi BabyBolat - welcome and sorry to hear you're feeling yukky. It's my first time too but no symptoms apart from sore boobs, which is slightly worrying but I've already been assured on this thread that I should be grateful and not wishing for m/s!!!

Have only told my immediate family and two people in confidence at work, but am tempted to tell work - I can't decide!! I will go for my midwife appt in a couple of weeks so maybe that will prompt me to spill the beans, It's funny because I don't normally have a problem spilling secrets!! Maybe it's the m/c in may making me a bit more cautious this time and a little less excited.

BabyBolat · 19/08/2008 18:33

Thanks salstars!

Ah you are so lucky - honestly I thought I was quite a tough person but apparently not!!! I have only told my immediate family and two very close friends - I'm undecided about work also - think I am going to hold off until after my 12 week scan - although I want to tell everyone I meet (it is killing me keeping it a secret but don't want to jinx it!).

Its completely understandable that you are cautious - but fingers crossed all will be fine and then you can shout it from the roof tops!!

littlelady123 · 19/08/2008 18:33

hiya i'm due april 1st too according to the lil' wheel of fate lol. 8 weeks tomorrow. Won't find out for sure until early pregnancy scan though. Have had 2 previous m/c too so quite scared. Any1 else get weird pains in stomach? Like a pencil being poked into there? i've heard its something like ligaments stretching?? Only every twinge is worrying me! Probably being stupid i no lol.

littlelady123 · 19/08/2008 18:37

i do have symptoms this time though where as b4 it was nothing, this time its all sore boobs and everything making me feel sick! i think i have one more week to bypass when i m/c last time.if i reach that will b a lot more optimistic
