Hi Jonah, Welshie has been raving about her Mirian Stoppard pregnancy yoga routine, 20 minutes or something in front of the telly. You'll have to ask her tomorrow. ALthough, reading her last post about super ab muscles according to the midwife, it sounds like she is some kind of Madonna at yoga, doing head-stands and all sorts

LipstickMum · 03/02/2005 21:13

When I was pg last time I did a weekly aquanatal course. Mainly for the social aspect, not to mention cakes afterwards!!! But it was also a fun way to keep fit throughout pregnancy.

charleypops · 03/02/2005 22:34

Good for you welshie - I'm glad everything's fine in there. Is having the blood pressure of a petite asian woman a good thing? Does that mean it's low? What's your new hair like? I've been thinking of getting mine chopped - I've been nowhere near a pair of scissors for almost 2 years!

If anyone's interested, there's someone selling some nice trendy Seven jeans on ebay here They seem to go for between $80 to 110 plus about $15 or so shipping, so not bad price considering non maternity ones are about £110-120 in the UK shops! I can't even find any maternity sevens over here! They're also quite a good fit if your not particularly leggy, like with a lot of designer jeans.

If you're after nice mat dresses, have a look on Ebay.com rather than .co.uk, a lot of sellers are geared up for international sales, there's a lot more choice and of course, cheaper at the moment

Well Welshie better to have the blood pressure of a petit asian woman than a balding, 50 year old man who lives on a diet of fried food and cigarettes methinks Though I have had low blood pressure alot in my life and it can cause problems, light headedness things like that and fainting spells. I don't know about it in pregnancy though. Mine seems to have normalised since Bubba turned up. Or maybe I am healthier.

I do Yoga on Thursday evenings which is nice. It is a gentle group for pregnant mums. It really tires me out though. I have really low energy since being pregnant. Plus I find carrying the extra weight around is really taking a toll. And they talked just a bit too much tonight about labour which made me go funny round the gills. I might get a video though to do around the flat. I would recommed it though I believe it might help with the dreaded never spoken about birth.

It has dawned on me that this fat little guy has to come out

LipstickMum · 04/02/2005 08:20

People who buy on ebay either .com or .co.uk what kind of payment system do you use? I know some sellers only accept Paypal account payments. What do most of you find safest or easiest??

I might try on some Earls next week Charley, we have an outlet shop near me, so I'll try some on before I either buy from there or buy online.

Uwila · 04/02/2005 08:59

Mornin' everyone. Good luck for the scan people today. Charley, does this mean you have to get up early? Will be anxiously awaiting news of more boys... or girls?

Anyone keeping track of the boy/girl/unknown count?

LipstickMum · 04/02/2005 09:03

Oh yes! Good luck and have fun scan ladies; Scraggy, Charley and Megi Can't wait to hear who's having what!!!!

welshmum · 04/02/2005 09:20

Finally caught up with you all.
Welcome on board Jezebel - I only had one m/c inbetween dd and this one so I can only begin to imagine how stressed you've been for the last few weeks - I hope the rest of the pg is a breeze.
Tessie - I'd lay odds that you're way more worried about the school change than the kids. I changed at 8 from a small village school to a bigger one somewhere else and I've got lovely memories of the first BUT I loved the 2nd too.
TB - on the frock front - you could try Monsoon. Loads of their stuff seems to have alot of 'space' in it. I had a quick look in a few shops yesterday and most are doing wrap dresses - they can work quite well too.
Megi - looking forward to meeting you in April - we'll be huge by then.
JonahB - yep I'm the one always banging on about yoga. I've got a 10 min routine from a Stoppard book that I try to do every night. I think it keeps me pretty flexible, although I've long given up on the headstands!
Pink - I haven't got low blodd pressure as such it's just that one of the figures is low. The m/w didn't explain it very well - just asked if I was fit. Ha

welshmum · 04/02/2005 09:21

Me too on the scans front - hope they go really well.
Aren't we keeping tally of the genders on the stats thread?

Uwila · 04/02/2005 09:25

Well, yes, but some people put up their stats and then go have scans. And I'm too lazy to troll through it all . Just thought someone else migh know off hand.

LipstickMum · 04/02/2005 09:32

Hmmmm I'll start a tally on the baby sex's so far, huge apologies in advance to those I miss

Welshie - (very selfishly ) knows, but not telling!!
Uwila - boy
Pink - boy
Teabelly - girl
Katz - doesn't know
Jonah - doesn't know
Mrs W - doesn't know
Lua - boy
McMudda - doesn't know
Cobweb - doesn't know

The 'doesn't know' people are those who chose not to find out

Loads of others not on here, please remind me!

welshmum · 04/02/2005 09:34

I'm actually having a penguin

teabelly · 04/02/2005 09:35

Morning all,

Thanks for the ebay advice - I've been on the .co.uk site but if I did find anything nice I was always out bid ...so will try .com and see how I get on Lippy I usually pay by paypal...much quicker and easier and as the money's held by a third party, if there were any probs you can get it back easier. Welshie, I'll try monsoon too - good idea, ta.

Quick hijack question to those with boys - Tessie/Cobweb ?? Have been potty training ds since xmas, was doing quite well but mil insists on putting pampers pull ups on him coz of her nice new cream suite and wool carpets, grrr, so we've taken a step back and stopped asking to go...today I've decided he's going commando as that worked initially...but he's complaining 'winky' is sore and it's been 'erect' now for over 1/2 and hour...not used to having it in the open before so don't know if this is normal or something to worry about...rather more worrying I'm running out of reasons not to kiss it better! ...

P.S. good luck for todays scans...

Welshie - penguin - at least your dd hasn't asked for a blue dinosaur!! Lippy I think Cobweb said she was having a boy, and Berolina too??

LipstickMum · 04/02/2005 09:56

Oh yeah, I did have cobweb down as having a boy

Lua · 04/02/2005 09:59

Welshie - it might be a penguin, but I bet is a female penguin !

Teabelly - You are making me panicked about boys again! DD was so easy to potty train!
At any rate, I obviously have no experience with boys, but have you tried using actual underwear? I have also seen these thingies
that might be a good compromise between you and MIL....

Lua · 04/02/2005 10:02

Ok, I have to admit... I am already the size of a house!!!! and I still have 4 months to go !
I have gained about a stone, which I guess is about average for 23 weeks. But, I am waddling, am completely out of shape, and pelvic floor is already desperate for help .... if I got a pence for everytime someone asked me whether I haven't lost count of a couple of months somewhere I would be rich!!!
Is that because it is my second pregnacy? or is because I have a huge boy? Anyone finding the second time around so much harder on their body???

Uwila · 04/02/2005 10:03

Oh teabelly... I was hoping for this one to be a boy. But, now I'm not sure I still want a boy. Oh goodness! What would Freud say?

I can't believe I'm about to type this, but wonder if what he says is "sore" is actually the feeling of being up.

So, how young to they get erect? Does this happen as infants? Oh God, I've never thought of any of this!!!!

welshmum · 04/02/2005 10:08

Oh the poor little mite TB - they do get quite confused around the potty training when things change don't they? I agree with you they need to know the approach isn't going to alter.
Can't help with the 'kiss it better' quandry!
Lua - penguins are very popular in our house at the moment. DD calls out to them as we walk to nursery. That is slightly better than her obsession with foxes, it can be embarassing when she's calling out 'foxy' as we go pass the bus stop.

Lua · 04/02/2005 10:09

Welshie, fascinating... so does your DD have imaginary animals too????
Mine has cats and pigs that live in her shoes and pockets and we have to feed them... She also gives them to her favourite teacher at nursery, and one day the poor woman had to hold it the whole day long!

mrsflowerpot · 04/02/2005 10:11

Morning ladies,

I don't think I can even begin to catch up on all of this after five days chat! Have had a quick read through though - glad to hear the scans are going well, good luck for those today.

Lua, yes I'm really waddling this time round, have aches and pains that I don't remember starting until I went on maternity leave last time. Haven't put much weight on, mostly because I lost some in the first months through not being able to eat, but have much more of a bump than I did by 21 weeks last time, and I swear my ligaments are loosening already, my pelvis is quite painful by the end of the day.

Potty-training boys, I think they just take longer than girls and from our (awful) experience with ds I would say there is no point until you are convinced they are ready, we got it wrong with ds and had to go back to nappies for nearly 6 months, then he got it in 2 days. Teabelly I have noticed this with ds when it's exposed to the breezes , plus they can't keep their hands off it once it's out and free. If it's not red at the end at all then he's probably OK, it might just be that he's more aware of it than usual. (DS is nearly 4 and I spend half the day saying 'take your hands out of your pants'.)

Uwila · 04/02/2005 10:12

My sister had imaginary friend when she was little, and they had the weirdest names. One was Archess. She introduced to other passengers on a plane once. I am 5 years younger than she is so I only know the stories from my mum. But she was apparently very serious about them. I think there were 3 or 4 of them.

teabelly · 04/02/2005 10:16

Lua - for some little boys (according to the nursery) just having trousers on and not underpants enables them to recognise the feelings of needing to go - whereas the pants give them a sense of security, like nappies - this is certainly true of my ds...he's a million times better if he's just in trousers...

Lua/Uwila please don't let me put you off having boys - he's a dream otherwise...it's just that not having the relevant equipment myself It's all new to me!! Uwila yep I did think it could just be a new sensation to him...and if this is an erection it's the first I've been aware of - again another first for me!! God I wish dh was here and not in a meeting - although I'm sure when he gets home he's gonna be pleaseed he wasn't here!!

teabelly · 04/02/2005 10:22

Mrs F - it's not red from what I can see so maybe it's the start of a lifelong friendship for ds but it's still big - so I guess if it stays like this he's gonna be proud when he's grown up, he he he!

Lua/Uwila and imaginary friends - I had some when I was little called the No No Family (guess I was told no alot!!) and I once made the residents at my nanna's care home come to the baby's christening at the bird bath!!!

Uwila · 04/02/2005 10:22

Oh well, it's a done deal now anyway. It's not like I can go back and make him a girl. I'll just have to cover it up and go into another room to laugh, I guess. Oh but then I'll probably scar him emotionally for life becaue his own mum was laughing at his willy...

Now if I could just decide whether to have it snipped into shape after he's born.... still pondering this one.

teabelly · 04/02/2005 10:25

Uwila what does your dh think about it?? If you both agree then do what you feel is best, I guess at this age he won't rememebr any of it so if you are going to do it better sooner rather than later...and if it's a really important thing in the US and he'd feel 'odd' if you live there again ad he didn't have it done then maybe it's better to do it???
