In that case trib, I would say that being close to them would be a definite bonus. They could at least help out in moments of crisis. Say you guys end up at the hospital at 10:00pm. IF you've got no one to help, either your DH will have to go alone, or you will hae to wake up sleeping baby. If you could call on sis in law to come round and watch telly while you two head to hospital, that would really come in handy.

what about a compromise, my mum and dad are looking to move near to us but be about 30 mins away that way evening babysitting is doable but there not too close to bug me!! so my suggestion is that you move near but not too near!

Just a quickie to say if you haven't read the 'be prepared' thread on this section you've missed out...to those who haven't had kids yet IT'S ALL TRUE!!!

OMG Bubbaloo!! ANOTHER BOY how fabulous!! CONGRATULATIONS

Sorry about your card being cloned - what a nightmare, hope it's sorted and refunded soon.

One of my scan photos from this time show his face too - it's very spooky, he looks like he's ginning maniacally and has big black holes for eyes When you going to start ante-natal classes?

Regarding the seeds, I did "go" this morning thank you, and it was a little bit more "thorough" than usual, so I'll keep trying them and see what happens. I keep you informed!

Pink lol you seating under your bed if it weren't for MN! I'm just the same

He he Uwila - 3 legged boy - some boys are born with massive ones apparently

ROLF Mrs W - "I need a poo"!! Did you? I'm very pleased to hear my posterior placenta is a good thing!

Trib - I wouldn't bother moving until the end of the year if I were you - double hassle. Baby will be used to ambient noise from neighbours as he won't know any different - he'll be noisier than them I should imagine and as you say, you're around full-time 'til then anyway. Plus, he's going to be small enough to carry comfortably up and down the stairs for those first few months until the end of the year. If dh can keep mil's interference to a minimum (ie only if you need a bit of help) then that might turn out to be useful. What's the prognosis for dh? when's he likely to get better? I think those first few months are going to whizz by, and before you know it, you'll be having to move anyway.

Good luck Lipstick for tomorrow! Just Curlydolly now I think?? (Hi CD if you're lurking!)

Charley - interesting thought about staying here, we haven't really considered it. The stairs are already a problem for dh and will increasingly be for me as I get bigger, plus we'd have to leave the pram in the electricity meter cupboard at the bottom of the stairs

The noise problem - I'm actually more concerned about me than about the neighbours. I hate loud noise and I think I will get extra-stressed if I know that the baby is not only keeping us awake but also other people too. Our flat goes across the top of three others, so wherever I am will always be over someone's bedroom/living room. Not so bad if we have a quiet baby but if we get a monster like my oldest nephew (I swear I nearly had post natal depression after he was born, he was so horrendous) it could be an extra load of stress I just don't need.

And no, there's no prognosis that dh will get well, we may be able to manage his condition better with a limited amount of daily exercise but so far nothing is helping

Uwila - good point about the hospital, dh isn't likely to need to go in, his condition is chronic rather than acute. But when he has a flare-up he needs complete bed rest, which isn't exactly compatible with having a baby. (I dread to think how we are going to manage this when I go back to work). So having someone who can take the load off me for a couple of hours would be very useful.

Btw, it sounds like some of you got more than one piccie from your scan this time? I had four from my private scan but this time I only got one (at the price of £3, I might add).

Trib - I was just imagining moving twice in one year would be a nightmare - could you do just one move instead - the one you'd have to do when looking for work at the end of the year?

What is your dh suffering with if you don't mind me asking?

I got 4 pics, but as others have said the quality isn't very good. And, I forgot to ask for one that showed the willy -- just I could look back and confirm whenever I start thinking, hmmm what she's wrong and it turns out to be a girl?

I said this to DH (who was routing for a girl) and he said "Well she's got some willy for a girl"

My MBT trainers arrived today. walking around the flat in them I feel a bit wonky. However I'll get used to them and I have my video about correct posture and gaining the most from the masai barefoot technology. They are actually quite cool not as ugly as I thought. I really felt my leg muscles working and I was standing taller than I have done in ages. Must be a good thing.

Oh a cheque arrived this morning the last part of my grandmothers estate I'll be going shopping before college this afternoon I think I want a new pair of jog pants and they are on sale so I'll have to nip in. Also That'll be a bit extra to add to my Bubba's child trust fund

My belly bra is a life saver. admittedly I haven't grown into it yet being a bit early for it at this stage in pregnancy, however it is a life saver. My back didn't hurt as much as it has been lately and I walked around town and went shopping in the last of the sales. I realise how disabled I had become, I have literally stopped doing things because of my back and wearing the belly bra the other day was a real freedom.

Charley - The linseeds are a life saver! they work really well now. Infact so much so cough that I think I have finally moved about 22 weeks worth of food and have now got a much smaller managable bump. I must have had a terrible back log. God its disgusting I never thought I would revel in talking about the state of my bowels Now I have been going to the loo daily and feeling much healthier for it. All in all I am a much healthier comfortable human being from all my health investments. Even if they have virtually bankrupted me!

Oh Teabelly I'd pump myself full of em if I didn't know I would probably have a nervous brake down as a result I just can't even stand being drunk let alone not in control of my senses. In my experience drugs are just a bad thing. Me and my mate were drugged by this guy when we were clubbing in College. We had our guy friends around and they looked after us it was pretty lucky that time I just think it leaves you powerless and you can loose control of a situation. I know it is totally different having a medication assisted birth but from what I have experienced of drugs and alcohol it is just bad things happen; period. I couldn't trust I'd be able to cope not feeling in control. I always have to feel like I can escape a situation and escaping means being in full control (as much as can be expected in labour) of your physical being/senses. I'd rather be in pain than have serious regrets. Otherwise for anyone else I'd say bring on the drugs

Oh Tribpot - moving believe me I just moved. Twice this year. I don't recommend it. Specially of DH back is not good and you are pregnant. It is so stressful. I moved at 12 weeks and the strain was unbelievable. I had movers my dad and everything and believe me I am not actually fully settled yet. I don't believe I'll even be ready by the time the baby comes along. I am waiting for the stinking landlord to paint. Moving is a recipe for full unadulterated nervous brakedown. Not what you need between now and the birth or soon after. However up to you!

I got loads of scan pics - probably about 12! They're mainly all pretty medical though and not much good to me.

Lua - Sheffield is great! My sis is at university there. Loads of shops, nice bars and restaurants and lovely countryside. You get used to all the 60's concrete in the city centre..... I spent a lot of time going to gigs at the Leadmill back in the day.....

Wow Pink - are they magic trainers? - back log Do you eat crushed ones?

I've moved 53 times in my life! I like it! I'm weird.

Pink at your drugs experience...you have to be so careful these days...one benefit of being an oldy I guess, we didn't have to worry about that in my day...just had to fend off the amorous advances of lads who thought it was cool to wear pastel gabicci jumpers tucked into dungarees

Nope they didn't have the crushed ones at the shop I went to But I eat them with other toasted seeds and it is a nice combination. The crushed ones sound dangerous for the runs methinks!

You've moved 53 times bloody hell. I thought my moving 5 times in the last 5 years was a bit much. The last 2 moves being this year. I just want a small ground floor apartment with a garden - I haven't big dreams. Oh and a dog. I hate not having a dog anymore

I have invested in 2 reusable nappies just to see what they are like. I am getting quite into the thought of using the nappy service around here. They take the stinking nappies away and bring them back clean - this changes things as it isn't me washing them

Yeah men are smelly bastards this generation Teabelly - they can think up a whole lot of messed up stuff. It just isn't safe to drink anymore. Or if you do you should take out some burly male friends to look after you.
