He's not too bothered. I think he leans toward not doing it, but doesn't feel super strongly so if I say I want it done, he'll go along. And I lean toward doing it, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't. I guess what I need is a time machine so I can go forward and ask a 25 year old ALex what he would like me to do. But, as I obviously can't do that, I'm going to have to ponder it more, and make a choice... and hope HOPE HOPE that Alex doesn't resent me for it when he's grown up.

I've also been taking a poll of my American friends to see what they would do, so far they would overwhelmingly circumsize -- although my sister didn't, but that was probably just to piss off her x-husband.

Uwila · 04/02/2005 10:38

And, yes, this child will have British and American citizenship so there is a very real possibility that he may choose to live in the US one day. So I have to consider a typical boy teenager or young man in the US and what would they want.

I'm just going on and on on a topic that might cause lots of controversy. Sorry. I'll shut up now. Hope I haven't offended anyone.

teabelly · 04/02/2005 10:47

Uwila, if I were you, and going from what you've said then I would do it I think.

welshmum · 04/02/2005 10:52

DD doesn't have imaginary friends as yet - the fox is real she sometimes sees him on her way home. The penguins are another matter - may have something to do with her mother saying one day ' it's so cold out thee we might see penguins'Oops.
On another matter I'm helping to host an Ann Summers party tonight - not quite my thing but am hoping it will be a laugh. Can't imagine what I'd want to buy currently - large jewelled thong??

teabelly · 04/02/2005 11:02

Te he he - Welshie they do a cream/lotion that you rub in to your naughty bits and it helps them to tingle that little bit more or you could get something for DH - they do a line in male vibrators now - I threaten my DH with one of those each time my sister hosts an AS Party!!!!

katzguk · 04/02/2005 11:34

morning all

Can't help on the potty training front because DD is a girl and got it very quickly, what we did whilst we were in the transition was to use washable training pants but found that if DD had these on and didn't actually get a wet foot then she was fine with being damp!! so we just went cold turkey and stayed home for a week!!!! sorry not much help!!

charleypops · 04/02/2005 11:35

Lippy - I pay via Paypal - it's dead easy, especially for overseas

Uwila - God no, I made my sure my scan appt was nicely tucked away in the afternoon Gin

I've just been quoted $14 shipping from the USA for those Seven jeans, so that's got to be worth it!

Tee Hee Tea "running out of reasons not to kiss it better"

LOL all your kids' animal fixations

Welshie - you devil - will your dh be there?

I got a feeling for the first time today that I'm having a ginger girl! Hopefully I'll let you all know later! (well, not hair colour obviously!)

Scraggyaggy · 04/02/2005 11:40

Had the scan and we are all OK!! Apparently, it would appear, the last two sonographers were cr*p, so they?ve put my date back to the 8th June. Yippee! And there is nothing wrong with baby?s head at all (she explained this before she?d even got baby on the screen), as she said that at 15 weeks it measured ok and then last time we were fine, it was just that we were 1mm under the 4.5mm that they like to see. No why couldn?t the other lady have explained all that last time?? Grrrr Also, baby could well look like me as our head shapes are both oval, which she reckons is unusual!! He he he! She asked if we wanted to know the sex and we were good and said ?no?, although I was tempted for a split second.

Lippy ? Can?t believe you beat Uwila this morning! I would recommend Paypal for transactions, as it gives a bit of peace of mind. And I can?t believe you missed me off the list!

Lua/ Mrsf ? I don?t really waddle. I?ve adopted more of a side-to-side swing as I walk. V strange!

Welshmum ? Oooh, Ann Summers! I now look longingly at the door as I go past the one on our high street. Somehow I nice corset and knickers just won?t do my figure any justice at the moment!! Apparently, French knickers and a camisole can look really flattering on a pg body.

Scraggyaggy · 04/02/2005 11:41

Charley - Good luck for this afternoon!

katzguk · 04/02/2005 11:42

i would like a little bit more of a bump!! everyone at work is still teasing me and saying i'm fat not PG!!

Lua · 04/02/2005 11:43

Congrats Scraggy on the scan! I'm really glad to hear that everything is ok with baby's head! Oval sounds like a good shape for birth too!

welshmum · 04/02/2005 11:43

Charley - we definitely need an emoticon for gin!
No way is DH coming anywhere near an Ann Summers Party. My (single) sister-in-law round the corner is very kindly hosting and NO MEN ALLOWED. Incidentally I was amazed by how readily my mates partners leapt at the chance to babysit so their ladies could attend. I think they're imagining scantily clad, hot for it, chicky babes coming home clutching sex toys.....
TB - I've only been to one before and it was the most outrageous night - found out someone I knew on the playgroup circuit was a lesbian stripper with a coke habit only 2 years before. (she's still doesn't like boys but now has a little one of her own to look after so is a changed woman in other respects)

welshmum · 04/02/2005 11:46

Post crossed - glad everything is ok scraggy, sonographers can really make you worry unnecessarily.

Lua · 04/02/2005 11:46

Katz, I would happily exchange bumps with you on our metting. I have a distinct bowling ball attached to the front of my body. Is truly ridiculous!

katzguk · 04/02/2005 11:52

i'll be the one in the corner looking decidely unpregnant!! although in three weeks i may have burst!!

charleypops · 04/02/2005 11:53

Aw Scraggy - what a pointless load of worry for you - so glad everything's good in there though

Ooh Welshie - I miss those messy evenings

LipstickMum · 04/02/2005 12:26

Thanks for all the advice re Paypal and ebay, I may actually buy something one of these days instead of just talking about it

Glad your scan went well Scraggy. I hadn't forgototen about you honest!!! I did wish youand Charley and Megi luck for ur scans this morning. I didn't put you on because I was waiting to hear if you found out or not. The 'doesn't know' people are the ones who have had 20ish week scans and didn't want to find out. Sawwy

I've never been to an Ann Summers party Welshie, although I have been into our local AS boudoir. I expect it will be a great deal of fun and, errrr apparantly 'messy' according to Charley that would be all the creams and potions you'll be trying out lol !!!

Mrs F, it made me laugh when you said you spent a lot of time during potty training telling your ds to take his hands out of his pants. That will probably carry on until adulthood

So far this pregnancy is no harder than the first, but it has it's moments. Times I'd really like a cat nap and can't etc. etc. Physically, so far it's not too bad. I'm still at the small, neat bump stage of 20 weeks (today) and I am carrying all at the front, like last time. When I'm bigger, then we'll see!!!

PinkArjuna · 04/02/2005 12:29

As for ebay paypal is the only way to go. If someone doesn't do paypal it puts me off. I only go the personal cheque route if I absolutely have to have the item in question. Sometimes they wait for the cheque to clear before sending your stuff so it takes way too long. Specially if you need an outfit for the weekend or something.

As to little boys - apart from being jewish the number 1 cause of circumcision in uk is because of foreskin erectile problems in boys. I have met a guy who was circumsized and he was really upset about it as over here it isn't the same as USA - it is usually a sore spot cos there was a problem with their cough manhood. I was talking about it at a Xmas party and all the other women have found the same. In UK guys who have had there ends snipped shall we say is all because of forskin tightness and painful erections and we found that all of us had insecure male specimens who had gone through it. So you have to see. However go to USA and a non circumsized willy is a shock horror situation. I wouldn't consider it myself because it isn't the culture here.

Oh and Teabelly I think thats kinda normal - this little bugger I went to infant school with whipped his out and it was up - needless to say I am emotionally scarred because of the whole ordeal Well it is one of my earliest memories I was shocked to the core. They all seemed to spend their entire day with their hands down there pants.

I'm told they get really proud the first time they pee all over the toilet seat as it is kinda a milestone. Gosh I do wonder about all this. I didn't really mind but now you talk about potty training perhaps a girl would have been a better option. I am gonna get piss in my face and needless to say if I let him run about with no nappy on for a minute - piss on the carpet. MMmmm

PinkArjuna · 04/02/2005 12:44

Congrats Scraggy on all being ok

Charley - hope all goes well.

Uwila - can you wait till hes older? I know that guy on sex and the city got it done in later life. Though that saying it must really hurt then. I suppose if you are gonna live in US and you feel strongly about it... Cos girls there are kinda grossed about it aren't they? Do you know the epiosode of sex and the city I'm going on about? The whole episode is dedicated to Charlotte not sleeping with a guy with a undone willy. He got it done and ran off with somebody else cos apprently he had a new willy to test out

Personally though I think British guys are far too attached to their willy's. They are archaic about them and it takes a force ten gale and armaggedon to cover them up with a condom. I think perhaps being aware of your nether regions and how to treat yourself and other people is really important. Something British guys just aren't learning compared to the Dutch and other european races. My little guy (though I will scar him for life) will be told when gets to puberty the importance of sexual health and personal hygiene even if it makes us both blush. So if you talk to Alex about it maybe he won't mind and you're American so he'll understand its a cultural thing. I dunno I think British parents sherk talking to their kids about the important stuff - we wouldn't have such a high rate of pregnancy/self harm/depression otherwise. Our teenagers just don't respect themselves.

So Dr Harper's conclusion is - anything done to the Willy must be be talked about. Other than that its up to you

PinkArjuna · 04/02/2005 12:45

anyhow bye - off to uni for the afternoon

JonahB · 04/02/2005 13:09

Afternoon All,

Lipstick/Welshie, thanks for the aquanatal and MS advice.

Scraggy, congrats on the scan.

Male vibrators eh!!!! I dread to think which bit on that vibrates!!! Teabelly, you seem to know an awful lot about this....... ha ha.
Men are so funny about their bits, aren't they? My DH remembers distinctly the day he discovered his "2nd" willy. He tells me he spent ages as a young child being fascinated with what "it" did. Oh g-d, dont you Northerners tell him I told you that, will you??

My nice piece of news today is that I got my first ever kick . I'm almost 23 weeks now, so I was getting really worried, but at 5:30am this morning, the little person was booting away merrily. I woke up the DH so he could have a feel and v. luckily for him (otherwise, there would have definitely been a hormonal reaction from yours truly), he was equally pleased. I am SO SO pleased!!!!!

LipstickMum · 04/02/2005 13:35

Jonah, I'm curious , "2nd" willy?? Ahhhh!!! You mean when he's... ahhh!!! Sorry to be completely thick!!!!

Congrats on feeling your first kick I remember mine, it was just after 21 weeks and I had been trampolining very gently. Dd decided to get her own back and use me as a tramp that night

mcmudda · 04/02/2005 13:43

Tee hee - ds has just discovered his willy moves now. If he's on his change mat I usually give him a book to read. If it has big diggers or tractors in it then he gets very excited.

charleypops · 04/02/2005 13:47

Just popped on to say I PMSL McMudda at that one - things don't change much do they, anyway, I'm off now ... x
