anyone got any thoughts about perineal massage? (I love it that we can talk about anything on here!) Just been reading up on it and it seems to have lots of pros and no cons (apart from being a little tricky in getting 'down there' with a big bump in the way!)
was feeling rather anxious earlier, not sure why, i guess its because my time for jumping out of the trench and going over the top is getting closer. i like this analogy though, because it means all of you guys are in the trench behind me, supporting me and are ready to drag me back into the safety of the trench again once its all over. I really don't know how I would have got this far without the MNers on here. Hmm perhaps DP is right and I am having a whoremoanal day!
right, its stopped raining now so its time to cheer up! i reckon a good dose of cheesey music and skirting boards is what a girl needs!

oh and chacha, you're welcome but i'm just passing on advice that i was given by other sufferers on here! go on, go and stick your bump in a bucket of saline! i promise it will help (but you need to perservere past the initial stingy bit). you need to stay there for at least 10mins so get comfy with a magazine

miamla · 07/07/2008 11:52

oops, you obviously can stick your bump in a bucket of saline but would probably help your piles more if you stick your bum in there instead!

PetitFilou1 · 07/07/2008 11:58

Miamla lol I would need a BIG bucket for my bump

alittlebitshy · 07/07/2008 12:15

lol at the images conjured up... esp the bumP in a bucket!!!

have cleaned kitchen and hoovered up the glitter from dd's new cowgirl hat (courtesy of school bbq yesterday - grr why did they get glittery ones? Unless I hide it somewhere it's going to be shedding glitter until she loses/breaks the darn thing). Should think about lunch but kitchen floor still wet after being mopped so will wait a bit......

gigglegirl · 07/07/2008 12:31

i would need a big bucket for either my bump or my bum!!

TwilightSurfer · 07/07/2008 12:35

Morning (again).

Dizzy, Bealcain sells slings now I believe. She should be able to get you set up with a nice one. I purchased the Moby and LOVE IT...of course I've not have a real baby in it yet just one of DDs baby dolls. As for changing stations, I didn't get one this time but did purchase some washable liners to lay down where ever I end up doing any changing. That doesn't mean I WON'T buy one later on when I realize how stupid I am. Names.........stuck there too. Reese is our latest "idea". DH seems okay with it and it is the only name so far we have BOTH agreed on. The middle name is the issue now.

OB/GYN appt at 10am so I'm hitting the showers so I am presentable. I'm guessing he give me a full exam since I've been having pains for two weekends and the baby's obviously dropped. 34+2 today....

As for children saying the darnest things:
At the maternity ward tour, DD asked (loudly) in every room we went in, "Is this where you're going to push the baby out?" She's well aware of where it comes out and often tells people about it. But the best is her imitation of it...she growls like a made dog and says, "is this the sound you make when you push the baby out your bottom?" She's such a smart 4 year old. Just wish sometimes she couldn't SPEAK.

gigglegirl · 07/07/2008 12:42

i have been thinking about the massage thing to - had a feeble attempt with DS1 and DS2 but as I am def going to be induced this time then I want to be as ready as possible. That is as far as I have got though - thinking about it! Same as with pretty much everything!

bealcain · 07/07/2008 12:48

at all your lovely children. i hope mine grow up like that, just so i can have a laugh each day!!

Dizzy, i have big knockers and did have a big baby, he's a huge toddler now and found that my cotton gauze worked best. the stretchy was ok but gave out if on a longer journey as ds weight made it stretch. Also CG will last well into toddler hood. can still wear ds1 who;s almost 3 so it's great for weight distribution. Anyway if you want more info get me on facebook if you're on there, if not let me know and i'll post email addy.

Chacha - anymore thoughts on what you're telling DC? i think ours about the same age aren't they?

have to say this pregnany i haven't suffered with piles [chuffed with self emotcion] so no good advice sorry!!

Babieseverywhere - bit irrelevant to thread, but hey ho.....how do you find the obi? what age did you use it from. i'm addicted to my pod atm and thinking about an obi, what you reckon?

stillhere - glad you're still here with us

ChaCha · 07/07/2008 12:52

Thanks Miamla - will find an industrial sized bucket me thinks!

PF - Lovely part of the Shire and glad there is some back up should you need it.

Hadn't thought of slings but i suppose one would be v.useful when needing to get on with the other DC. I tried one with DS1 but i really couldn't get the hang of it and ended up putting it on ebay. Can anyone recommend one that is hassle/stress free and v.simple to use?

I don't think the reality of new baby is kickin in yet

ALBS - A productive morning i'd say - well done. I have managed to load washing machine, make my mum a cup of tea and dress the kids...not getting v.far but have promised mum/DP, DH and the DC lunch at 1.30 on their return from work/park so best get on and do some lunch.

TS - Let us know how appt goes.
GG - Hello [waves]
SH - Must be good to be home! Welcome back.

And to everyone else [big wave]

PetitFilou1 · 07/07/2008 12:54

Re comments from dcs:

little pf in the GP surgery when I took ds with tonsillitis:

'Mummy I have eggs, daddy has seeds and you have a BABY' at the top of her voice

Even a 2 year old can grasp 'Mummy Laid an Egg'!!

ChaCha · 07/07/2008 12:58

Hi Bealcain, Yup think we have similar ages if not the same. DS's are 14mths apart, DS1 the eldest now 2.7yrs.

They really don't seem too bothered at all. DS1 did ask me to pull my T-shirt down the other day when i was massaging my bump as 'baby is getting cold mummy' and when he hears me moan and groan he says to himself 'baby moving in my mummy's tummy' - stuff like that really. DS2 thumps my bump, rubs it from time to time and says 'baby' and might put his head there but other than that i really think they are just too young to have any 'thought' if you know what i mean.
Have decided to buy each one something 'Thomas' related as they love their trains and trucks and present it to them from baby when they come to see it - that will be it. What about you? What's yoru thoughts?

Be back after lunch is done and dusted and everyone settled.

bealcain · 07/07/2008 12:59

chacha what you thinknig of using it for, breastfeeding on the go? taking dc out? walking round the house? shopping? when can you see it getting the most use? and for how long?

Crumbs, it's just taken me an hour to catch up on this thread! Obviously, well spent!
TS, CC and Dizzy - you have each produced comic genius' (partic. like the 'will you big fat tummy fall off - if only!)

Had a dreadful night last night - babe kept on moving, and, rather disconcertingly, twitching. My scaredy cat mind keeps manoeuvring this into 'fitting' but hopefully he/she is just very rhythymic and into drumming or just hiccuping? Is anyone experiencing this and should I worry or just count it as 'good' movement? (I know someone has had the twitching but just can't find the message again.)

Oh, and I'm not mad keen on raspberries but do like the name Victoria (Sazzles, maybe your MIL has started a cross stick or quilt for your baby and just decided to plump for Victoria, in the hope that you'd be so hormonal you'd just think, 'yes, okay, sod it, Victoria it is'....!)

sarahnh · 07/07/2008 13:07

Hey everyone,

Just tried catching up on this thread but it moves so quickly..

dd hope you are doing ok and so glad to have you back on here..

Good luck at the docs TS...

Hey to everyone else, i cannot remember if i have missed anything important!

I had a very strange sat night.. went out for the first time in ages and it was a nightmare, basically madam decided to sit on my bladder and i spent the whole night in the toilet, every now again i would get and horrible pain up me (tmi sorry) ....

Baby has seriously dropped too... i just want to get to 37 weeks and then all hell can break loose!!!!

bealcain · 07/07/2008 13:32

ok, am i being really naive here?? i kow i'm not incontinent so why do i stuff leaking from my bits? it's quite watery like, but surely i'd know if it was my waters...would i? it's coming in spits and spurts when i move....i am actually panicking now...no calm bealcain!!

bealcain · 07/07/2008 13:35

HELP ME LADIES

TwilightSurfer · 07/07/2008 13:57

Bealcain, watery...no smell...clear....amniotic fluid??? Can trickle instead of gush....will be constant though until like pee.....

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 07/07/2008 14:00

fyi spits and spurts is constant in my book...your waters have broken.

OP posts:
sarahnh · 07/07/2008 14:00

no idea bealcain could be your waters call the midwife as better to be safe xxx

Shazza2002 · 07/07/2008 14:06

Ooohhh exciting

They advise to put a sanitry pad on and if you're having to change every hour or so then it's definitely your waters.

But best to phone anyway as have to be careful of infection. Plus most women 'normally' go into labour within 48 hours of them breaking.

Can you all tell what I've been reading up on at the weekend???? Yep, Signs of Labour

pregnancy1 · 07/07/2008 14:20

OOh cripes. Good luck belcain - keep us all informed x x

longwayfromhome · 07/07/2008 14:25

ooooh, good luck!

Sausageandmash · 07/07/2008 14:25

Bealcain, I have to agree with everyone - sounds exactly like me when my waters broke. Perhaps your midwife/labour ward could confirm properly. Good luck if it is!!

PetitFilou1 · 07/07/2008 14:38

Bealcain that baby really does want to come out early doesn't it?!

Yep, also agree it is your waters - don't panic though doesn't mean lo will suddenly shoot out across the room (unless you are me of course but mine seem to go in a big whoosh and only when I'm in full on about to push mode)

Keep us informed - from granny pf x
