Thats what I thought re: itching too starlight - was quite shocked when she sent me to hospital, although its reassuring that they take these things seriously I suppose. I would be very surprised if I dont get any stretchmarks this time - I am MUCH bigger.

If it was only my bump it wouldnt be so bad, but its my legs and palms too - driving me mad!

Anyway, must go off and do some housework....carpet and wood floor being fitted tomorrow so got to get going...

mama2bee · 17/07/2008 10:00

Thanks for all the nail cutting tips...I like the idea of socks instead of scratch mits, sounds like a good idea to me! Last ante-natal tonight, eek, I feel like I'm going to forget everything by the time I give birth.

hopefully · 17/07/2008 10:34

Starlight, how ridiculous. You should definitely put in a complaint.

I have just noticed that the stretch marks on my thighs left over from teenage growth are beginning to show again (when I am slimmer there is no real 'strain' on them, so they are invisible, now they are very clear thick white lines). Do we think that as long as they don't go red and angry that they will disappear down to the same level of invisibility afterwards?

ipanemagirl · 17/07/2008 11:16

Hello Sept expectants! I'm still trying not to think about the birth and I only have two months to go!
I'm finally going to antenatal yoga this weekend.....
But haven't booked an NCT class at all (it's my 2nd). Has anyone done the full NCT thing for the 2nd? I want to go to meet other mothers but the cost is a little prohibitive given that it's my 2nd
I think I'm in quite bad denial.....
I need some encouragement to bite the bullet and accept that this baby is coming in two months!
I have got the car seat, moses basket and pushchair sorted......... But no baby clothes out of the loft, no birth plan no hospital bag packed!

mamamufin · 17/07/2008 11:31

Blimey we dont get offered a anti D Jab at 34 weeks in North Yorks. Just one at 28 weeks then after the birth. However, when I lived in the North West we got three.
I am shocked at your transport story star, good for you sticking up for yourself. I would definately complain.
Hopefully and any one else worried about stretch marks. Bio- oil is absolutely fab!
I am off to the hairdressers in half hour. I have these high matienence highlights and long hair. I am worried that I wont have the time or money to maintain them once baby comes. I am considering a return to my roots and a big chop. OOOO DESISIONS!

becaroo - make sure you chase up those results - when you referred to itchy bump that didn't sound too worrying, but itching elsewhere, particularly on your palms can be an indication of obstetric cholestasis, as they've said, so it's good they're taking it seriously.

I am on my last day of work before a two week holiday, hooray, hooray. Then 3 weeks work in August, another week holiday, 2 weeks work in September and I'm done. I finally feel like the end is in sight!

Pidge · 17/07/2008 11:35

ipanemagirl - I'm like you except minus the moses basket and the car seat is also in the loft with everything else!

What with our kitchen building works there is no way this stuff is coming out of the loft till late August at the earliest - maybe even September.

DebitheScot · 17/07/2008 11:40

ipanemagirl I am the same as you, haven't really done anything to prepare for this one. No antenatal classes. Have got all the big stuff up in loft from ds but haven't checked it or anything. I did get the clothes out and sort them out into sizes but then put them back up in loft. And I haven't done bag packing yet. I think I'm in denial too. I thin thats quite normal though (or at least thats what I tell myself!).

Got even less sleep than normal last night as kept waking up with blocked or running nose and at one point I woke up sweating like a pig. I'm still all bunged up today and tired obviously but don't feel as bad as yest. Might try and leave work early though.

ipanemagirl · 17/07/2008 11:59

Thank you thank you thank you thank you for the encouragement! I'm going to put my hands in the air, back away from the computer and go straight upstairs to face the spare room which is in such chaos that I'm hiding from it!!!!
THANK YOU!

ipanemagirl · 17/07/2008 12:00

Hugs to pidge and debthescot

DebitheScot · 17/07/2008 12:08

thanks for the hug, it's just what I need right now. It should be closely followed though by a kick up the backside to make me at least start getting organised!

ipanemagirl · 17/07/2008 12:14

computer is going off now!! good luck!

Pidge · 17/07/2008 12:19

Let us know how you get on ipanemagirl - I am just banking on this one not turning up early and giving me a bit of time to at least dig out a couple of babygros! Oh and I just found a moses basket on freecyle and have arranged to collect it, so I now need to buy a new mattress for it and I'll consider myself relatively sorted!

becaroo · 17/07/2008 12:20

Thanks for that Pidge....felt REALLY silly going to the GP to compain about itching but they did take it very seriously and they are going to repeat the bloods in 2 weeks

Might try some bio oil.....

I cant get any of the baby stuff down from the loft til the new carpet and wooden floor are fitted this weekend - then I'll have to do it all before weds when my ds breaks up for 7 and a half weeks AAARRGGHH

Also got a sunday lunch for 6 to do again this weekend - trying to get all my commitments out of the way before august and then if this baby comes early I hopefully wont feel so stressed

hopefully · 17/07/2008 12:57

I am loving the bio-oil, although slightly concerned at the rate at which I am going through it - need to buy body lotion so I stop applying it to my entire body instead of just stretching bits - I've gone through about 2.5 big (£19) bottles already...
Argh, that's nearly £60 on my skin!! How vain am I?! Body lotion top of weekend shopping list.

Think baby is unimpressed with my excessive ice cream consumption at lunch just now - it is leaping around and practicing yoga/kick boxing moves all over my tummy.

Pidge · 17/07/2008 13:29

becaroo - I got tested for it too - but in my case (as I knew) it's just because I'm still covered in eczema. My palms are not itchy though - that's about the one bit not affected! Hope the test results are fine.

jennylindinha · 17/07/2008 14:05

Ipanema, Pidge and Debi - I have done NOTHING to organise things for this baby! Nowt, zip, nada. And it's my first! I'm feeling totally disorganised and am not really thinking about the birth or what I need afterwards or anything. Terrible. Our kitchen is still in a mess too and not finished yet and the flat is a tip. DP is away this weekend so I'm going to at least clean and tidy it all up with the radio/ipod on full-blast! We do have the new dishwasher plumbed in though - what a treat!

I think I will have to ask my organised sister for a list of things I need to go out and buy and then I don't have to think about it...

By the way, heard from the Albany HB team and they are fully booked. Going to call the Brierley now, they are yours aren't they Pidge?

kiskidee · 17/07/2008 14:07

a moan:

I was craving weetabix for lunch. Had some against better judgement as I don't cope well with milk. boy have i got indigestion.

meglet · 17/07/2008 14:12

I think we're organised. DS moves into his big bedroom tomorrow, I think it's going to send his sleeping pattern tits up though as he'll be so excited by it. Every time we go in there he just looks seriously impressed. By the end of the weekend the new cot will be up in the nursery and all the old sleepy suits will be out the loft for me to sort out for the new baby.

I am having a wonderful lazy day so far. Made some chocolate & coca-cola muffins so DP couldn't care less about the house being a tip . I went to Pilates yesterday and it was lovely stretching myself out. Off to the gym this weekend, i am making the most of it before DD arrives and I will be recovering from a horrid CS.

Post it starlight! I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow so would be good to have an idea of how it's done.

16 days left at work - only 5 with my boss - yey!

LittleConnie · 17/07/2008 14:20

Post it here as long as you don't mind it being public starlight I'd love to read it

meglet · 17/07/2008 14:25

I haven't done my birth plan. But i have purchased 2 terribly unatractive nighties from Primark to wear after the CS. It just dawned on me that I don't see my consultant (to confirm the actual CS date and final details) until week 37, which is when I had DS. Bit scary as I could easily have popped by then, I am going to pick my midwifes brains next week and find out what happens if I go into labour early. Not sure what pain relief I will be able to have if they know I will be having a CS within a few hours. The last thing I want this time is to feel drained before the operation is under way.
