Lets hope it's not too long before everyone is hatched and milking season is in full swing!

Josey, that's fantastic news, welcome home Olivia!

Overdue crew (wehre are you Laura?!) - I waddled to the local shops and back, took me best part of an hour! I bought what I hope will be the last pineapple... Fell asleep in front of the tennis. Time for a go on the ball. I am sure I'm not imagining that my bump has dropped - surely being able to breathe again and some relief for heartburn is a good sign!

Amberc · 30/06/2008 18:14

josey great news!!! How is little Olivia?

My less than exciting news but exciting for me none the less is that Luke's stinking rotten pus filled cord stump fell off after 14 daYS. That was after having to go to the GP after he practically ripped it off himself and it was pouring with blood and goo.

What's a nature's nest? Will look it up in the meantime.

Am taking Luke to cranial Osteopath next tuesday - please god it makes a difference!

LauraT · 30/06/2008 18:30

Whinegums I'm here, have been out and about all day being very active (get me and my activity level overdue crew! [smug emoticon])

Had my appointment this morning, unsuccessful sweep - nothing doing although have had intermittent back/period type pain all day [hopeful expression] walked about town for an hour and a half, then went for lunch with a couple of friends and an outing to the ice skating rink (I am sure you'll be disappointed to know that I only watched!) only just got home (an obviously first action was to log on and see how the rest of you were doing!

Poppy congrats on the birth of Edie, sounds like you're doing really well!

Josey great news that you're home, so pleased for you!

regarding the appointment, am now booked for induction on Saturday afternoon, so if nothing before, you and I will be heading for 06/07/08 babies together BDQ!

goodbye June bugs, now we're all going to be July Mums! (but please can we stay in the June gang?

sophiewd · 30/06/2008 18:32

Amber it is a hammock bed, what formula are you using as changing DD's made all the difference when she was a baby.

dylansmumplusone · 30/06/2008 18:35

josey that's fantastic news, you must be sooo pleased!! xx

about the natures nest, you really have to follow the instructions when setting it up, particularly if you want the head raised up as it's not intuitive, in fact it seems like you're doing it wrong (with the velcro) to do it right if you see what i mean. let me know if anyone has problems as when i set it up again for anwyn thinking i knew what i was doing it did it completely wrong and had to redo it just today so it's fresh in my mind!

whinegums · 30/06/2008 20:13

Laura, sorry to hear sweep not successful - will report back on mine tomorrow. Maybe you should have tried the ice skating! Am impressed by your activity levels even so.

Have been on my ball watching the Murray match. My mum has high opinions of birthing balls, apparently SILs worked a treat - mainly because her waters broke as she was blowing it up!

The nature's nest thing looks quite interesting - does anybody think it would be suitable upto a year old, as the blurb suggests? Was thinking it might be easier for travelling with too - what do you think dylansmumplusone?

dylansmumplusone · 30/06/2008 20:38

whinegums we took it to canada twice and also to ds' grandparents in sandhurst for the weekend countless times. it's super easy to set up the frame and once you have the 'nest' itself set up you don't take it apart again (except to store between children like we did!) and it comes with it's own travel bag. most airlines allow it on top of regular luggage allowance too.

ds was in it until about 9 1/2 months and he simply didn't fit in it anymore lengthwise, but he's always been in the 90th centile for height since he was born so a shorter child i think could def last up to a year.

Upsidedowncake · 30/06/2008 20:56

HI there

Thanks for all your congratulations. Dorothy is gorgeous. She has had a few problems latching on as was very sicky for the first 24 hours, but is loads better now.

I totally feel for all your overdue ladies. The waiting around sent me bonkers and I think you're all being very calm. Big hugs to all of yuo especially Ktpie and DQ.

I was induced at 40 + 6 because of high BP (due to anxiety) and a tiny bit of protein. My Bishop's score had been monitored for the previous 10 days so we knew that I would not need prostin.

And I have a good induction story. Water broken at 6.30 am. Lots of walking around for 2.5 hours, but no action. Synto in at 9 am, Tens machine on, was 4 cm dilated at 11 am and had pethidine.

By this time I was shaking and begging for a C section / epidural / someone to make it all go away / let me go home etc.

Then at about 12.15 I needed a poo ... only it wasn't a poo, I was 10 cm and ready to push!

So Dorothy appeared with me leaning over the bed at about 1.15. I didn't really push, she sort of slid. A tiny tear and that was it!

DH and the doula were fantastic - they got me through the panic when I was a demanding a C section, and the doula knew the poo wasn't (IYSWIM).

So much happier about this birth rather than the last one.

Off to catch up on all your news.

Lots of love

Upside xx

bitofadramaqueen · 30/06/2008 21:08

Really glad to hear that you have a good induction story UDC. You also reminded me to google 'bishop's score' as I didnt know what it was but my MW wrote it in my notes. My Bishop's score was only 4 which means I have an 'unfavourable' cervix . Not really sure what means in practice but I dont really like the sound of it!!!

Glad you're home josey - how is Olivia?

Laura very impressed at your activity level - I'd be shattered.

Have been for a fairly active walk this evening, so off to put my feet up now!

OP posts:
Upsidedowncake · 30/06/2008 21:12

DQ, a Bishop's score of 4 is good - I was a 4 early last week. I was induced with 7 on Saturday, so please don't get too despondent! (Last time I was induced, my score was 1!) Have you noticed how you get marks for birth?

Amberc · 30/06/2008 21:43

Oh my god - did anyone see the Andy Murray game?! I was so tired but now I am full of adrenaline! Nature's nest looks good. We have found that loads of stuff we bought is useless so would worry about buying another thing. Not sure what to do tonight as DP and I are stopping his late shift to get me ready for doing it on my own next week. He's been sleeping on the sofa for the late shift as everything within easy reach but it's too hot and I want my bed!! hmmm - one of the benefits of breast feeding i'm missing out on - it's fully portable and won't go off unlike formula. sophiewd I am using cow and gate liquid ready made - is that any good?

Amberc · 30/06/2008 21:44

PS Luke vomited every feed up today pretty much all over both of us, plus he pooed on me and weed on me and DP - we have no clothes left!

sophiewd · 30/06/2008 21:49

That's the one we switched to, thought you may have been on SMA which a lot of babies seem to have problems with. And yes the game was brilliant even DH watched it and he doesn't like tennis.

sophiewd · 30/06/2008 21:51

If he is vomiting every feed then speak to your HV, he may have reflux (Essies did I think) and he may benefit from infant gaviscon.

sophiewd · 30/06/2008 21:57

Also, try giving a small amount of the milk and then winding or sitting upright to help digestion and then some more, DD guzzled and then liked to chunder, so we did the feeds in thirds.

poppy34 · 30/06/2008 21:57

josey so glad you and madam are home.

laurat energy levels are a good sign... I went to watch cricket and have accupuncture on weds..thursday birth of edie/end of sleep..

busy day today -grandma visited...don't know who got more over excited her or edie... took ages to get her to settle this evening (plus she has started to demand my breast for comfort which is not great news..) but all seems calm now. Expect she is storing some treats for me later so off to have a bath and a quick rest before the onslaught..

Overdue crew - sure acupuncture and or nipple tweaking helped

PregnantPenguin · 30/06/2008 22:17

Thank you for the congrats everyone - I'm missing MN like mad, but pc is at old house and I'm at the new one most of the day.... got as far as page 3 so far - but will be back 2m! Will try to read rest on mobile internet connection before coming back 2m - unfortunately can only read and not post via vodafone. [sad}

Whinegums - Thank you, PoppedPenguin is a great name. I will change it when I upload photos - waiting on DH...

I am beginning to accept that the only way to stop Ryder crying from 4pm - midnight is to quite literally leave him on the breast the whole time (I do get the odd 20 min break), so am typing one handed now. He falls asleep on my boob but screams the house down if I unlatch him. Any suggestions anyone?

On a different note (although I'm sure they're related), I'm having real trouble getting him to wake up for feeds during the night. I slept thru myself last night and he ended up sleeping from midnight until 6am - opps! But it was delicious

Essie - A RL meet up sounds great.

libralady · 30/06/2008 22:19

Neenz don't worry, no offence taken. I am just taking each day as it comes. Each time I have expressed today I have managed to get nearly 3 oz so only minimal FF needed. Hoping this Fenugreek will help.

Congratulations Poppy.

Josey so glad Olivia is home where she belongs.

To those overdue, I started on pineapple, and rubbed clary sage & lavender into my bump and boobs in a carrier oil on the Saturday and Sunday. Luke was born Monday morning. We did have sex on Thursday night prior to the birth so unsure if this had any impact.

LauraT enery levels are good. On the Sunday I spent the afternoon cleaning out my car, hoovering, polishing, cleaning the windows, put the baby seat in ready, tidied the house and cooked a roast dinner. 8 hours later my waters broke.

To anyone else I missed, hi, and I hope you are doing well as can be expected be it sleep deprivation caused by uncomfortable bump or hungry baby.

libralady · 30/06/2008 22:26

I'm using SMA, but only because this is what I used with DS1. I had no problems with him, and so far Luke doesn't seem to have a problem either.

TaurielTest · 30/06/2008 22:28

hello folks, remember me?
I had my baby on midsummers day (21st) and it's taken me this long to get a few minutes on the PC! He's a little boy, we've named him Peter, he weighed just under 8lb and has lots of dark hair.
The birth was phenomenal; my absolute best-case scenario, still can't believe my good fortune. Briefly, I woke at 2 am with a contraction, then another at 2.30, then they got more like 10 mins apart, but were quite manageable. Woke DP around 6 to say things were happening (thought it would be a plan to let him get some kip), rang birth centre and advised to get in the bathtub until 3 cx per 10 mins - DP timed them on the computer - we were calling a taxi and my sister (birth partner #2) by eight. Waters broke in taxi, but trusty waterproof pad thing saved us the 'fouling charge' , arrived in birth centre to be pronounced 8cm dilated (!), straight into the pool. Lovely hands-off midwife kept an eye on us with underwater doppler and handmirror (I was kneeling up, nice SPD-friendly position), and he was born at 11.17am. I was offered entonox and kept thinking 'maybe the next one', but never actually took it - I think I was worried if it made me dizzy I'd have to get out of the pool which I definitely did not want to do.

Have just been firmly told by DP that I need to go to bed and he is right. I'll post again soon though, and try to catch up on the last few pages...

bitofadramaqueen · 01/07/2008 00:09

Hey puddock welcome back and congratulations!

UDC - is a score of 4 really good? That's the danger of the internet... I found a few things that said it was 'unfavourable'. Feel much better now, thanks!

libralady · 01/07/2008 00:09

Congratulations puddock. Sounds like you had a fab birth.

Lucky you had the trusted pad in so you didn't get charged the fouling fee.

How are you getting on?

Catch you in the morning.

LLxx

sophiewd · 01/07/2008 07:26

Congratulations Puddock and welcome Peter.

We had another good night with Basil co sleeping 2 3.5 hour stretches with a 2am and 3.30 am feed so not bad, he is now fed and changed and abandoned while I do breakfast for the screaming children which are staying

morning. Loving this thread more now I have a baby than when I was pg if that is poss! I am finding it so reassuring to find other babies are doing exactly what peter is doing .

I too have a baby that loves to lie on me feeding intermittently. As I type this has been going on since 6 am. We have also had some evenings of endless crying I think because he gets over tired. The upside is that he does sleep well at night presumably as he is tanked up.

Debs- fellow 17 June big baby mummy! Thanks for reassurance that ethan has big appetite too. Do u feel like a milk bar yet?

LauraT · 01/07/2008 10:00

morning,

well the internmittent back pain went away over night so back to square one. I shall endeavour to be super active again today though in the hope it will bring things on... maybe I should have tried the ice skating after all... I did bounce on my friend's trampette the other evening...

congrats Puddock sounds like a fab birth!

whinegums good luck today with your sweep, hope it's as effective as Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins! Also, did you see your thread is a thread of the day! maybe it's an omen!

the Andy Murray match was fantastic, think he'll have won over a few fans with that performance... I heard an interesting comment on the radio about him actually, saying it was a bit unfair that he was described as a dour Scot when if he was meditterranean they'd be describing him as smouldering... probably true!

right, I'm going shopping and in the quest for somewhere to get a pedicure with no appointment, my toes are a disgrace!
