Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
libralady · 29/06/2008 11:04

Kaz,

Thanks so much for the support and links. Someone else gave me the advice re fenugreek so when I go into town on Tuesday I'm going to have a look at the health food shop. It's worth a try.

blondiep14 · 29/06/2008 12:03

Hi ladies - first of all, good luck and/or congratulations!
I remember being on the due feb thread, it seems sooooo long ago .

I am actually on the scrounge rather than just re-living those fab final week . Does anybody have instructions for a mini medela pump they could accidentally photocopy & post to me?!

Heffagooday · 29/06/2008 12:05

Good luck Minkus, I hope today's the day for you!

I had a bath last night and then bump felt really weird afterwards so got slightly worried. Woke up having fairly frequent but irregular BHs but they've stopped now. I don't think anything's going to happen anytime soon, but hopefully I might not end up overdue! I'd prefer nothing to happen over the next week anyway since my parents are away. My mum's sorted it so she can get a plane back immediately if anything happens, but I'd feel really guilty about ruining their holiday!

Best wishes to all the new mummies and I hope the rest of us are feeling OK. We need more babies to come along soon!

gillythekid · 29/06/2008 12:35

Hope everyone is feeling well today.
Had a lovely meal out with my NZ family on Friday, DH then dropped me home and did the weekly shop before getting up on Saturday and driving me all the way to Maidstone to see my osteopath. He then came back and cleaned the house from top to bottom before cooking a lovely dinner. He's been called into work today but has insisted on tomorrow off, really want to spoil him so am trying to make a strawberry tart today but my usually cold pastry hands are fat and clammy so it might all go wrong!
It's only the 3rd time in 15 years that I haven't been at Glastonbury, the line up isn't up to much but I just knew it would be sunny, the last time I relaxed in the sun there was 2003, bloody typical! Want baba to hang on till July now as I can't be waltzing off every year if there's a birthday to be celebrated! DH has never been to Glasto and has given me carte blanche to go every year now and get as messy as I like while he looks after our child. Result.
So Minkus are you our next proud mummy?
Peanut Hope Charlie is doing well.
Twinkle Sending more health and strength to your boys.
Libra Sounds like you're doing all you can, well done.

LikerabbitsBX · 29/06/2008 12:46

Hi Ladies!

Dont often write many posts but thought I would this time as I need your advice!

I am 36+2 and last night could not sleep at all, I then started to experience a really bad ache of my belly...continuois to the point I just couldnt sleep. I literally thought this is it....how rude in the middle of the night! lol

Hubby was dead to the world so just walked around most of the night hoping it would calm. Eventually by 4am it kinda stopped I was also really tired and eventually dropped off to sleep.

Woke up no pain, I thought great! However the pain is starting again.

This is my 2nd baby but it was 9 years ago when I had my first so being honest I have totally forgotten what braxton hicks/contractions feel like or start like. lol I am pants I know!

I just wanted to ask any of you ladies if you had experienced dull belly ache pain and found out you were experiencing labour and had your baby after this or did you feel BH like this? My stomach tightens etc and it feels really uncomfortable.

Any thoughts??

minipinkscottish · 29/06/2008 13:20

Hi all!!

Congrats twinkle - hope LO's are doing well!!
Hope all other new mummies are okay and not suffering too much with - sleep deprivation, after pains, sore nipples. constipation etc - AHHHHHHHHH the joys!!

Liberlady - well done you for your perseverence - I'm sure it will pay off in the end.

Well Abbie is 2 weeks and 1 day old now and really should still not be here for another 3 weeks

She is doing great and really feeding well. She is sleeping about 2 - 2 and a half hours now and then I bf her both sides and then top her up with 20-30ml of formula - this usually makes her wake up and want to bf feed again for a bit
She wont be small for long if she keeps it up.

I am slightly less tired than I was and feeling better now as the tonsilitis is getting better. I still have slightly sore nipples but nothing compard to what I have had in the past so that's good.

So no more babies yet then?? Maybe everyone on this July thread will actually deliver in July

JODIEhavingababy · 29/06/2008 14:01

Hi all,

Well I;m still here! Really thought yesterday might be it, but I think it's just BH getting stronger! I never had them with DS so it's abit of a shock.. I'm still getting them today, not nice

Woken up today with a shcocking cold/cough and bad chest! Been drinking Hot lemon and honey all day, seems to be working, although I'm so frightened that everytime I cough I'll do a little wee! (So far so good though)

Twinkle sending big hugs to you and little sweet fairy kisses to the boys. Hope everything goes well this week.

Minipink Glad everything is going OK and Abbie is doing so well, I didn't realise she was so prem.

Minkus Hope you pop soon, like someone else said, none of us can until you do, so hurry up! Then the floodgates will really open!

Likerabbits My last labour all started at the back, so I can't really help, although all my BH have been from the front and quite low.. I'd say, Just keep monitering and if they get more frequent/stronger call the MW....

Gilly wow on your hubby! What a star!

blondie Can't help, sorry

Sorry if I've missed anyone, got foggy cold head and can't remember.....

min912 · 29/06/2008 15:04

Hi all, back from my friend's hen night (essentially a house-party-sleep-over-thing where I sat in the corner troughing all the food) where my idea of being prepared just in case was to take some maternity pads, nighties and my birthing notes. Good thing I didn't actually go into labour as I had nothing for the actual baby!!. I think in hindsight what I thought was a show was in fact something else as it was white rather than clear (sorry). About an hour ago I had another 'I wonder...?' moment as I just felt really weird and sick... but nothing. I think it all comes under the definition of wishful thinking.

However an unwelcome new development today is... piles. And of course as it's Sunday the village pharmacy is closed... have nicked some of DS's sudocrem which does actually seem to be helping but can anybody suggest anything else that doesn't involve driving round the countryside to find a chemist?? Have arnica cream or would some lavender oil in a bath be better?
Didn't have this last time which I know makes me fortunate but I'm a bit surprised as I haven't been constipated at all, rather the opposite. Sigh!

Heffagooday · 29/06/2008 16:28

Likerabbits - I've had a similar kind of pain (mostly last night) but nothing else has happened for me yet. I'm a first timer and completely unaware of what to expect though, so have no idea what it was meant.

mcchesers · 29/06/2008 17:02

you guys I feel like screaming, this itch is making me nuts. My hands and feet are throbbing. I'm not sure what to do, can't clean or cook..anything that touches my hands stings and itches. urggh!! Was scratching my belly last night and drew blood.

I took a Benadryl and it calmed down for a wee bit but made me sleepy. I guess I can take another one. Anyone else itchin like mad?

CilC · 29/06/2008 17:42

mcchesers I was itching like mad last night on my belly and managed to create a few scratch marks....and this morning as I was getting ready for my shower I looked in the mirror and saw why; more damn nasty stretch marks!!!! Your itching does not sound like that! But I can relate to the misery it causes... The only other thing I have is itchy calves, but I find it so hard to reach them that the feeling comes and goes.

Twinkle wishing your little boys a speedy time in hospital.

Minipink so good to hear everything is going well and little Abbie is sounds like such a sweetie.

Libralady You really sound like you are working so hard for your LO with all the expressing. I do hope it all kicks in for you!

Minkus goodluck! Can't be too far away!

Likerabbits I have never gone into labour, sorry can not help.

Gilly I think I have said it before - your DH sounds lovely!

Min912 only know of pharmacy medicines.

blondie Do you mean the battery operated/electrical yellow medula express pump? Mine is four years old so not sure if the same?

isaidno · 29/06/2008 17:54

min912 - if you have any witch hazel that can help (just dab it on with some cotton wool) as it is an astringent.

pigleychez · 29/06/2008 17:55

Evening all,

Had a lovely day yesterday. Visited my parents who were babysitting my little Niece (1mth) for the afternoon and overnight. Gave her a feed and took her for a little stroll in the pram. DH pointed out i must have confused alot of people- Heavily pregnant woman pushing a newborn in the pram..

Then in the afternoon/evening had a BBQ with friends of the family (DH's Side) Havent seen them since i was about 6 weeks when we told them so quite a shock to how much id grown. Late night but great fun.

Far too much to catch up on! but ill try!....

Sounds like lots of people are experiencing movements. Lets hope we have some more babies soon.

EEC- Glad everything was ok.

TWINKLE- Glad the boys are continuing to improve...Hope they are hope with you soon.

ISAIDNO- Glad Poppy and you are doing well.

MINIPINK- Glad Abbie is doing well

MIN912- Sorry to hear about the piles.

Today DH and I blitzed the conservatory giving it a good spring clean.

This morning i noticed my feet has really really swollen. The right one seems worse and I dont appear to have Ankles any more Right foot also feels alittle tingly.
Going to keep an eye on them and see if they go down.
Been sitting down with my feet up for a while. DH's orders! They have improved a little but still pretty bad.

Hope i havent missed anything or anyone... Apologise if i have.

Sorry for long post but theres sooo much to catch up on!

gillythekid · 29/06/2008 18:48

Min912 Get some Proctosedyl from your GP, much better than over the counter stuff. I have the dreaded piles too.
PIgley I've had swollen foot or 'monster trotter' as DH likes to call it, for weeks. Apparently al you can do is elevate it but sitting with your feet up encourages LO to lie back to back so you decide. I'm suffering the swollen foot in the hope of a more comfortable labour!
CilC I married an angel, unfortunately an angel that is at work on a Sunday and won't be out in time for the footy tonight.

twinkle1 · 29/06/2008 19:12

Mcchesers,
If you are very itchy, esp hands and feet you need to contact your midwife as it can be a sign of a condition called obstetric choleostasis (OC).It is rare but worth checking.Hope this helps
Twinkle

RUMPEL · 29/06/2008 19:32

Evening All,

SWEETKITTY - yeah!! Finally ordered - well done you can relax now

MINI - good to hear Abbie is so well.

TWINKLE - your wee boys will be home sooon but sending them growing vibes and hugs to you too (and Mr Twinkle)

PIGLEY - my feet have swollen now too - it is just 1 of the many joys of pg - you swell up like a inflatable michelin woman towards the end

ISAIDNO - good to hear Poppy and you are well too.

MINKUS - sending you popping vibes (please can you return the favour).

LIBRALADY - please don't feel guilty or that you have to. The main thing is that Luke is getting enough food - whther it is FF or BF. I always found that when I had a busy day I never had as much milk but it is truly knackering bf for the first couple of months - some people just find it really tough. We expect it to be 'natural' but it isn't for all of us. Agnus Castus tincture is another thing you could try. Best of luck and look after yourself - hugs.

KAZ - good luck with the move. At least your friend will be able to give you some support and hope your cat settles in ok.

MCHEESRS - have you tried calomine lotion? Or you could pop a couple of drops of lavender oil in some olive oil and massage into your itchy bits. Do a google for homeoptahic remedies for itching - think it is sulphur but check.

LIKERABBITS - might be the really slow build up to labour - I had that for about 14 hours before I went into 'actual' labour. Tightening, sore tum, although BH can be pretty sore too. Best of luck if it is the real deal though

Right I am totally fecked off now and ready to go anytime!! Been out weeding the garden and planting and cleaning and all sorts to try to get this littly to shift now. Am sore all over and pissed off with the whole thing now!! Think I am going to start sticking needles in my acupoints this week

A good tip is if you are going to type as long message do it in word and copy and paste - then you won't lose it

Byeee!
xxx

Rumpel - I feel the exact same just want this baby out, when you consider I did the test on Halloween last year I feel like I have been pregnant forever. I don't ever swell, perhaps it's die the the SPD I have enough going on. People keep asking me how I'm coping with the heat - excuse me am I missing something it's Scotland it's raining what heat??!! I coped fine during the London heatwave with DD1.

Have thought about the P&T it doesn't get shipped until the 9th which means it won't come to at least the 10th my due date so what if the baby comes first

mcchesers - what a nightmare about the itching must be driving you insane, did you try the oatmeal thing?

pigley - ouch sorry about the swelling, just get as much rest as you can

min912 - oops probably missed this but you can buy Anusol in any supermarket it's on the shelves by the Gaviscon.

likerabbits - hello sounds like BH to me, I had about 10 false labours with DD2, sometimes the BH would stop me in my tracks and I would have to breathe through them they were painful and you think oh maybe this is it and then they go away.

So who we waiting on news from? Wheres disney? Minkus?

ButterflyMcQueen · 29/06/2008 20:09

hi ladies

was sick in the night last night - lord knows why and dp managed to sleep through the whole thing including me scrubbing and bleaching the whole room afterwards

feel a bit rubbish today but braved ikea!

went for a coffee in starbucks after and some women pushed past me to get the comfy chairs i had ds2,3 and 4 with me as well....

i said 'excuse me but i was waiting for those chairs; but to no avail - 10 days left to go

no one offered me a chair - there is no hope. you can barely get more pg than this but no one cares

i must say i do not feel 39 weeks - i feel fine and bump not feeling too bad at all

around the tummy button is very tender...anyone else have this - it hurts like a bruise...then whilst measuring it - i looked in the mirror and it looks a bit bluish like a bruise

anyone experienced this?????

sweetkitty · 29/06/2008 20:14

butterfly on your behalf but not surprised

Belly button not bruised but dark brown and very tender if anyone touches it I need to pee!

mcchesers · 29/06/2008 20:17

Love BBQ..went to one yesterday and ate till I couldn't move. Woke to more stretch marks today

SK- have tried the aveeno bath stuff and it's ok one everything but the hands. Have moved on to Benadryl and cortisone cream..neither works on my hands but I haven't tried calamine lotion yet.

Twinkle- Have seen the GP, AnE, and the midwife and all have said it's pregnancy rash and not the obstetric choleostasis thing..BUT she took blood to check my liver anyway and I get those test results back Tuesday afternoon.

Rumple - Cheers for the links..I'm willing to try just about anything for relief.

ButterflyMcQueen · 29/06/2008 20:32

thats so interesting sk!!

wonder why pigmented and lol at peeing when touched!

min912 · 29/06/2008 20:40

Cheers SK, didn't think of supermarket - although despite it being surprisingly painful (I know, I know, lucky to only get them at 37 weeks) paracetemol and sitting down seem to have done the trick... plus you have reminded me that I need more Gaviscon!

Am totally with whoever it was that was saying about the stress on your joints of putting on all this extra weight, I can really feel it going up and down stairs on one of my knees and I can't imagine living like this permanently. Bah, humbug, etc.

Mentioned the birthing pool in passing to my dad on the phone just now and he was all negative and 'that'll never work' about it - went on about how our hot water tank won't be big enough, would take ages to fill, etc. To which I replied a) body temperature not bath, b) kettle c) boiling hot water d) insulated lid e) you start filling it asap so it'll be fine and finally f) if it were that hopeless then no one would ever use the damn things!! I think he wants me to just go into hospital and have medicalised over-intervening experience again. Thanks for your concern but no!!

Stretch marks definitely increasing here too, but I am at the stage of not actually believing that I could get any bigger...

ps Isaidno - Poppy is top of my list! Fab name!

libralady · 29/06/2008 20:51

blondie

I have the medela electric pump. I don't know how old it is as I purchased it 2nd hand off e-bay but I do have the instructions. I can scan the instructions and e-mail them to you if that would help.

E-mail me at lmcc2007atbtinternetdotcom to let me know.

CilC · 29/06/2008 20:58

Belly button sore here also. Tried pressing it but no wee though! Phew!

Butterfly - Sorry to hear you were sick. DH took me out shopping at Waitrose today for a few essentials...icecream, chocolate, apples, carrots (my current cravings) and breakfast bars for hospital bag etc. A snotty woman walked by me and clonked me on the arm with her metal basket. DH said something to her to which she replied without turning back and arm raised in the air "in a terrible rush, no time to talk". I would like to add I was in a wheelchair!

Pigley that swelling sounds quite serious. I don't want to alarm you but good friend had this and it turned out she had pre-eclampsia. I know I could be totally wrong and as I said I do not like to scare people after all I am not expert, but I would definitely get it checked out!

I am feeling so frustrated at the moment. I think fecked off sums it up well Rumpel! Not so much wanting to get LO out as I have a set date and appreciate it is 10 days before due date, but I want to sort everything out....life....house...the world.... and i am just so immobile! Arggghhhhh!

Oh well 2 weeks and 1 day left... can almost see the light!
