Due in June '05 - London Meet 2

Hi all, thought I'd put thi on its own thread rather than clutter up the Due in June (oh I mean "Jue") one.

I gather that April 2 is the preferred day. Is that good for everyone. As for a "quiet place". I think that's a good idea, but to be honest, I haven't a clue. Any suggestions?

God that was quick Uwila, ok...well if it's nice weather (so would have to decide nearer the time) how about The Zoo...I know I was daft suggesting it for January, but hopefully by April the weather should be better...that way the little ones coming can run off some energy after we've finished eating/gassing...will have to check on the restaurant situ...will come back to you...

Don't know if they have big tables there? Seating might be difficult to arrange. Wonder if we could meet at a restaurant nearby, and then head over to the zoo. Anyone familiar with the area, who could suggest restaurant?

Blimey. Must be time for bed.

I know the area pretty well and it would be a bit of a hike from a restaurant to the zoo, the zoo cafes are pretty ordinary too. If the little ones run off at least one of us has got to watch them too. I don't know how you're feeling Uwila and Teabelly but I was going to leave dd with dh next time around so I could have a proper grown up conversation....that might not work for everyone though so I'll have a think about where else in central London might work for us too.

well thats the weekend i've got a secret weekend planned for DH, my mum is coming to babysit so this could work nicely. We can have a nice hotel room and i can pop and see you all at lunch time!

Welshie, I was kind of thinking the same about leaving DD behind. Now, I don't how or why, but she was positively angelic on Saturday. However, I do know that the chances of it happening two times in a row are slim to none.

I don't mind whether we bring the children or not to this next meet. If we had managed to find somewhere where we could have a meal and then let the kids run around I would have brought her. Anyway, if you mummies who brought children along to this last meet aren't going to next time round, I wont bring my dd to be all on her lonesome

2nd April suits me! I don't mind what we do, although if the LOs are coming, then a cafe type scenario in the Zoo might be better?

Oh I'm happy not to bring ds too if that's what most are doing, like you Uwila my ds was particularly well behaved and this is definitely not the norm, ha ha ha! And it would probably be much easier to meet up around a similar area as last time as that seems to be the most central for all the directions that we're coming from...anyway it's about time dh had ds all to himself abit more often ...will get my thinking cap on....

If no-one is bringing any LOs then we could meet in an "adult" place?? Have a glass of wine or sparkling as it'll be our last meet before the big day?

Besides, I must admit, my back did suffer a bit from carrying her and her pushchair down the stairs to the tube. I'm fine to take it myself, just can't carry fatty anymore.

I also vote for a 'grown up' lunch. It's not often I get the whole day away from my darling daughter, so as a sahm I really appreciate it when I do. It also reminds dp how hard I work all day

I was talking to DH tonight on the phone (as we do every night because he works away most of the week), and he asked if we were planning the next one yet? I though he was going to give me ahard time about my mumsnet addiction, and he said "do you want me to look after DD?" Ooooo, yes please. What a good DH. So it's official, no dd coming with me.

Do we have any cuisine preferences? I eat anything? I think someone was a veggie... Teabelly, was it you?

Well, I think I eat anything i.e. I eat many different food types; Italian, Chinese, Japanese etc. And wouldn't have a preference. Should we start with a few restaurant ideas and take it from there..? People can agree and object as they like.

How about Tiger Tiger round the corner from where we met last time? I thik they do some good lunchtime deals.... although am not sure how noisy / quiet it would be.

Scraggy - your suggestion looks fab - great menu too - but I agree it does look like it has the propensity to get rather loud.

I love all styles of food but tend to find chinese restaurants the most limiting for veggie stuff so would prefer something else if poss...

Do you eat seafood? No problem if you don't. We'll be glad to accommodate you anywhere? Well, within reason.

No sorry - it's a protein thingy - don't have the enzymes to break down the protein in meat/fish so they end up coming up the way they went down sorry TMI! But if you were asking because you were going along the sushi line, alot of places now do veggie options so happy to look at menu options...

I was just thinking if did something like Itallian, you can always find a fish dish. But, obviously that's out. Although I suppose the pasta would be okay?

I've never heard of such a thing. Poor you. I live on protein.

What about dairy? Is sheese a problem? I think I would die if I couldn't eat cheese.

Italian is my favorite - pasta, pizza...can't get enough of the stuff

funnily enough cheese and dairy are fine, different kind of protein...like nuts/seeds ok too - although would probably have been better for my hips over the years if cheese had been off the menu!!!

Well that sounds very good to me - count me in - esp if it has a good wine list
