Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JODIEhavingababy · 19/06/2008 08:25

Morning all

Disney I don't know how you do it... you must have the strength of 1000 ox's to go through all that you've been through this last 9 months (and probably before that too!) Big hugs from me to you. Hope your little boy is feeling OK today and enjoy your swim..

Pigley I only got up once in the night last night too (it's usually twice) AND DS lay in until 7.15 (usually 6.00) But still feel tired. Don'y think it's a feelingwe are going to shake for a good few years yet! (remember how hard our poor bodies are working at the moment!)

Good news is that my sciatica feels better today, so fingers crossed. I'm going to try to not do much while DS is at nursery so I have the energy to play with him this afternoon.

I'm seeingt he MW tomorrow and I'm nervous about her measuring me... I measured my self yesterday and I'm only 32cm (same as 2 weeks ago) Trying not to worry as I can still feel movements and I'm sure all the measurments will be slightly out depending on where and how baby is lying.... But you still worry don't you!

SK Is DP back yet? I think I'd kill mine if he did that at the best of times, let alone at 37 weeks.. After this weekend DH is on 'taxi duty' so no more drinking for him until it's time to wet the babies head! (why the men get to go out and celebrate when we've done all the hard work is beyond me!)

Hope I've not forgotten anyone, All you new mummies OK?

Heffagooday · 19/06/2008 08:27

Isaidno - congratulations! What a beautiful little girl Lovely name as well! Logged on first thing this morning to see if there was any news! xx

DonutMum · 19/06/2008 08:44

Congratulations isaidno. Beautiful girl with a beautiful name. Makes me all tearful. Looking forward to the birth story.

Well, nothing to do again today but piss about on tinternet and fill in shipping forms for sending more stuff to Bahrain. Might buy some nursing bras - my old ones are 34G and think I need 36D/E this time round. Any recommendations? Got a hotmilk one cheap in a 36D which is lovely. Oh, and talking about internet shopping- anyone got a Ju-Ju-Be Change bag cos I know where you can get the stroller clips cheap!

gillythekid · 19/06/2008 08:50

Congratulations Isaidno!!!! This is all getting really exciting now.

EEC · 19/06/2008 09:17

Fab news isaidno. She's sooo lovely.

I think DH is a bit nonplussed at how excited I get at the birth of someone I don't even know! It is wierd, isn't it, how involved we all get? You lot have all been such a support over the last months - mn is fab! There's no one else really to talk to who understands. (tries not to get weepy)

Am so jealous of sleeping through, but not as jealous as minipink I guess. Still, I would much rather be up all night with a LO than on the loo, or turning over every 10 mins cos I can't get comfy!

Disney. How you have the energy to go for a swim, I'll never know. What an amazing mum you are. Thinking of you and all your DS.

sk hope DH is full of remorse this morning.

DH has just told me he is working in Truro for next 2 1/2 weeks and will have to stay down there for some of the nights! That's on top of sailing next w/e! Help! That takes me up to 39 1/2 weeks! What on earth am I to do if I go into labour in the middle of the night? libralady when is your DH back for good after his away trips?

EEC · 19/06/2008 09:18

Disney - that should have all your DCs!

MINNIE1 · 19/06/2008 09:26

isaidno
OMG Poppy is so cute, hugs to you all and a massive congrads.. Well done and i bet the nappy changing is a little different...

SK
Hope you DP is back, My DP does silly things like that. Only for he cant now, but i am sure he would chance one night if he could. He knows he is doing wrong but still you have to make him feel real bad! works a treat for me..

Poledra · 19/06/2008 09:52

Congratulations, isaidno - what a beautiful girl you have there.

Sweetkitty, why are dps so blardy thoughtless? I remember DH going out for a drink one night when I was 39+3 with dd1. He caught the train back home and met one of our neighbours and went into the village pub with him. Meanwhile, I'm sitting at home knowing that the last train has been and gone and not knowing where DH is!! AND the village pub is a known deadspot for mobiles (sometimes I wonder if the landlord has arranged that deliberately....). When he got back, DH couldn't understand why I was in tears - he was just like 'Of course I wouldn't crash somewhere else. You knew I was coming home, why were you worried?' Grrrrrr!

Libra1975, at my last appt the mw couldn;t decide if the baby was head down or not, and she asid she would have referred me for a scan to check (at 35 wks) if I hadn;t already been booked in for my regular doppler scan. Sounds like it would be worth asking your mw about it.

libralady woohoo, last day at work. Mine is tomorrow - can't wait!!

Poledra · 19/06/2008 09:53

Trust me, I do know all those semi-colons should be apostrophes - I just can't type!

Mummywannabe · 19/06/2008 10:58

Very quick post as on way out but huge congratulations to Isaidno - she is so cute! Couldn't go out without checking if you had her yet!

Had tearful night last night, very uncomfortable and the worst hayfever i have ever had (got doctors appointment tomorrow to beg for something!). DH (for once) was very sweet and held me tight, telling me it wasn't long to go now. Felt guilty cause i so want a baby but never realised i would feel like this! Baby then had mad 1/2 hour so more guilt for upsetting it!

Right off for lunch with a friend so that will cheer me up.

Sorry to moan again, will be more upbeat later

mcchesers · 19/06/2008 11:10

yay Isaidno!! She's a doll.

RUMPEL · 19/06/2008 11:42

Hi All,

ISAIDNO - she is a wee cutie (and of course I ADORE the name remember that's the 1 we chose too for a girlie?). Hope your labour wasn't too horrid.

SWEETKITTY - 36 F I know but I really think it is 'cos M+S bras are on the small size - my boobs don't seem that big to me. Hope you are okay today - probably kanckered and feeling ill 'cos of your extremely thoughtless and daft DH!! I would kill mine if he did that (but I am lucky he is very thoughful most of the time and also a bit scared of me ) Hugs to you anyway.

PIGLEY - am so of your ability to sleep!

I haven't slept well for years either KAZ because of anxiety/depression and life being stressful in general so 5 hours in a row is an amazing sleep for me. I remember after DD was born, when I got home about 3 days after wards, my Mum took her out for a walk and let me sleep. I slept for 3 hours (the absolute sleep of the dead) I awoke at 6pm and thought it was the next day!!! I leapt out of bed and was worrying about where they were and how has she been fed!! The best sleep I ever had - mind you after labour you really need it.

MUMMYWANNABE did you try POLLENA homeoptahic remedy for your hayfever?

JODIE - I ask because you always refer to and remember people in your posts and think of them often - you must have a caring job surely eg nurse, child care etc?
I started doing nursing but I find it too hard to disengage my feelings for people so gave it up after a year. I became a therapist instead - that way I get to do nice things to people and mostly help them in a positive way Although when my DH was in hospital a few years ago I considered taking up nursing again - thankfully it passed though.

I am KNACKERED today too - did far too much walking yesterday and consequently couldn't sleep last night as I was overtired, sore all over, my feet were aching and every time I move today it feels like my pelvis is about to give out feeling sorry for myself.

My parent's are here tomorrow until Monday so if bubba would like to make an appearance over the weekend that would be great for me!

Must go and try to entertain my wee DD - she is so good and I feel like a poor excuse for a Mummy sometimes .

Take care allxxx

TWINKLE - what is happening?
PEANUT - please let us know you are okay.

JODIEhavingababy · 19/06/2008 11:52

Ahh Rumple, thats nice of you. I don't really notice that I'm doing it! Funny you should say about the job though, I have thought of going into a 'people' profession, but I couldn't cope with the personal side of things (I even stopped thinking about Teacher Training as how would I cope if a child was being mis-treated or neglected) And Nursing os a no no..... Thought about asst Midwife though, might look into it again after LO is here......

sweetkitty · 19/06/2008 12:09

hi ladies DP came in at 7.30am this morning and asked me if I was OK, can you imagine my rsponses, actually I was pretty good in the morning managed to contain myself until I took DD1 to nursery then came back and let rip as he was in bed! I am totally livid, the thing that gets me most is he knew I was having a bad day yesterday and that if he stayed out I would have to do everything by myself. When do I ever do that stay out and just assume he will be there to look after the DDs? I am supposed to be going out for a meal tonight with the girls from toddlers but I don't know if I will be able to stay awake. Sorry am just so so so angry.

Rumpel - sorry you had a bad night, is there such a thing as a good one right now? Everytime I get up for the toilet takes me ages to get back to sleep, head is whizzing with things. Your not a bad mum just a pregnant and tired one.

Mummywannabee - moan ahead this is the one place where we all nod in agreement and know how you feel.

EEC - poor you with your DH being away, there a theory that your body won't let you go into labour until you feel safe and secure (old caveman thing) but it relates today to making sure your DH is there and your other DC are cared for. Certainly been the case for me twice.

Hope everyone else has a lovely day especially isaidno with her new baby

Right who's next?

OP posts:
Minkus · 19/06/2008 12:10

Well done Isaidno, what a cutie and with so much lovely hair!!! Beautiful name too. Congratulations to your whole family on the new arrival.

Minkus · 19/06/2008 12:16

Me me me me me Sweet Kitty please let it be me!!!!!!

Sorry to hear your dh has been an arse, they have a gene I think that makes them do completely twattish things sometimes without thinking about it. I hope he makes it up to you somehow.

Libra1975 · 19/06/2008 13:10

I have one hypnobirthing class and one busy morning at work and come back to THREE ages of chattering, you would think you lot didn't have anything else to do!

isaidno - oh what a cutie and such a beautiful name, congratulations (we need a congratulations emoticon!)

rumpel/minku/abks - for your addiction/shopping - www.lush.co.uk/ If you didn't already know!

Heffa - oh which pattern? I have just ordered the dash in uptown stripe as according to DH it looks like the Paul Smith stripe and therefore is manly.

LibraL - hope that bath worked and you are not too sore today.

MiniP - your DH sounds lovely and supportive, make sure you get some sleep when you can!

Jodie - this is a great stretch for siatica that we learnt in pregnancy yoga
"Another way to do this stretch is to stand on your left foot and place the right foot on a chair, such that the right knee and hip are flexed at about 90 degrees. Now, using the right hand, press the right knee across towards the left side of the body while keeping the ball of the right foot on the same spot on the chair."

Pigley - ok now you are just boasting about the sleeping thing :p

EEC - my DH is the same rether births, I'm like ohhhh there has been another one come look at the photo and he is all . Hope you manage to find another birth partner for when he is away.

SK - is there anyway you can swan off this weekend for a day of pampering leaving your DH in charge of the children as some sort of payback?

purplejennyrose/Poledra - my appointment at 36 weeks put the baby trasverse (2 MWs), another MW at 38 weeks said she thought it was head down and not engaged yet,
but it wasn't the easiest one to tell, I stressed that I wanted to avoid a caeserean at all costs and so needed to know that the baby was head down rather then breech as by my next 39 week appointment it would be too late too do anything, at that point she said she was sure everything would be
ok. As this is my PFB I am not sure if I am worrying too much. DH has told me to ring up and ask for a consultant appoinment to make sure that the baby is head down,
but I don't want to be seem as a fuss pot, especially as the baby is still so active (last night I was sure something (butt or head) was going into the pelvis as I had shooting pains and a nagging in my lower back but this morning it was back in its slightly diagnol position, can they become dis-engaged!)

ONE MORE DAY AT WORK. Just 6 more tube journeys. Next week I will be mostly sleeping and doing nothing

isaidno · 19/06/2008 13:12

So, this is what happened to me.

I ate the pineapple, and 30 mins later my waters broke. No pain etc, so I bathed the DS and called the midwife to let her know. She came and took a swab and had a feel of tummy. Baby's heartbeat really fast and wouldn't slow, so I went to the hospital to go on monitor. Back home about 9pm; baby was fine by then.

A sleepless night waiting for something to happen. Back to hospital at midday for more monitoring - you have 18 hours to go into labour from waters breaking if you want a homebirth. Monitor fine, sent home again.

Started to get regular twinges about 5pm, which became more insistent about 7pm, once DS were in bed. Went to hospital at midnight, feeling terrible because I was so tired. I was 5cm when I got there, and 8cm within about 30 more mins. Feeling lots of pressure so said could try pushing.

Pushed for some time, then after another exam it was decided there was still a ridge of cervix in the way at the top. I had to wait.

In terrible pain by now and exhausted. Finally got the hang of gas and air and lay dozing and puffing and swearing and getting very frustrated.

Had to have a drip put in for antibiotics because my waters had been broken for 30 hours. Veins were wonky and it took 7 ateempts!

Suddenly at 3:52am I had a contraction, shouted I have to push, half a push and the head was out. MW barely caught her!

All the pain was instantly forgotten. Onto my tummy for cuddles and bf. Slight split in fanjo - no need for stitch - quite surprising with such a rapid exit!

Poppy is so gorgeous! All I am doing is cuddling and feeding! Hope everyone else is doing okay,

love isaidno xxx and Poppy

gillythekid · 19/06/2008 13:32

Well done Isaidno had no idea there was a time limit for waters breaking and homebirth.

JODIEhavingababy · 19/06/2008 13:37

Libra1975 Thanks for that, I'll try that this afternoon..

Isaidno Well done you! You make it sound like a piece of p*s..... (I bet it wasn't at the time!)

off to buy a pineapple!!

JODIEhavingababy · 19/06/2008 13:39

Oops, spot the deliberate mistake....

Supposed to read

((((((wanders of to buy a Pineapple)))))))

catec · 19/06/2008 14:07

Hello all and well done isaidno! Poppy is just gorgeous.

Also feeling rather sorry for myself today. Have either a cold or bad hayfever, can't tell which but feel rubbish. Didn't get any sleep, and am soooo over work I could cry. But there is still so much to do before I go on ML at the end of next week. Arghhhh

On a happier note, my sister threw me a lovely baby shower in the weekend (seems so long ago already) and I (well Daisy mainly) got some gorgeous gifts. And my parents are over in 3 weeks (it has been 18months since I have seen them and we are very close) so just need to keep on looking on the bright side of things! (But it is hard when everything is such a struggle and every part of your body aches and groans with discomfort!)

And congrats also Minipink - hope you start to be able to get some sleep soon!

I can't remember who asked about itchy skin (sorry, I have just skimmed over the last couple of days' posts), but yes I get that on and off tiny little bumps under the skin, mainly on the inside of my forearms. Had liver checked which was fine so just another pg side effect...

SK - I totally understand your frustration with your DP, mine has been doing it to me a bit recently (his last nights of freedom) and it has bothered me hugely and I don't even have DCs to look after. I don't mind so much if it is planned in advance but it is not fair to just spring it on you!

Sorry, have to get back to work but have been keeping up with all of your news everyone and thinking of you...

pigleychez · 19/06/2008 14:38

Hi all,

Just returned from the midwife..

Baby is in a great position for labour which is good.
Sugar in my sample-- Usual for me, even though the glucose test was ok.

BP sky high! So told me to ring the hopsital for an appointment to be monitored tomorow. Booked myself in for 9am. Just had a call back from them to say a doctor just looked at my notes as as its so high could i come in today!

Dh is at work but meeting me at the hospital at 4.30... aaarrgghhh!!
Can feel my BP getting higher as im so worried now!

Woken up with headaches the past few mornings which is another reason they want me in Asap.

Just when DH and I were saying how plain sailing my pregnancy has been.

Trespass · 19/06/2008 14:52

Well done isaidno you make it sound so easy, she's adorable!

Sweetkitty feel really sorry for you, I can't tell you how pieved off I'd have been, I'd have killed him! He certainly has lots of grovelling to do, milk it all you can!

catec put your feet up and watch a good film in peace with lots of goodies! I take my hat off to all of you who are still working

Trespass · 19/06/2008 14:54

ah pigleychez hope everything's ok
