morning

Morning and welcome to the newbies :0
Just been catching up on everyone's news, been more of a lurker for the past few days/weeks.

Had an appointment with my midwife yesterday and got bloods taken for triple test - my local health authority don't check nuchal fold when scanning. In fact, as standard, women are only given a 12 week dating scan and nothing else .

My care is now being transferred to consultant led and I have an appointment next Friday. I have anti-C and anti-D in my bloods which has to be monitored closely. They also found a v. large fibroid at my 12 week scan - it measured 10cm x 10cm . It's on the outside of my uterus which is better for baby, but goodness knows what it means for me!! Will go armed with questions .
Have a good weekend all

moosemama · 18/07/2008 11:06

Hi all

Finally popped, definitely got a little round tum now - even one of the Dad's outside DS1s class noticed this morning! I'm bigger in the evenings too, have to change into my joggers by 6.00 or am really uncomfortable.

Have been going crazy reorganising the house, emptying cupboards, throwing stuff out and giving more stuff to charity. Have completely reorganised the boys' bedroom, all their clothes and toys and practically taken the whole kitchen apart, cleaned it and put it back together again! I think I must've done a bit too much though as my vacuum cleaner blew up (literally - quite scary actually) the other evening! - er isn't it a few months early for nesting .

Actually, I think its a reaction to how little I could do in the first trimester. DH was lovely but his idea of housework leaves a lot to be desired! Also we need to get rid of our study so that we can have a nursery, which is ok in theory, except it seems like everything that doesn't have a home elsewhere in the house is currently residing in said study - aarrgh!

I feel soooo much better - FLORADIX ROCKS!! (I should ask them to pay me for all the advertising I'm doing for them!)

tinkisagracefulshamu · 18/07/2008 11:57

good luck with fri appointment

i have just purchased angel fetal doppler cant wait to hear babys heartbeat

largeginandtonic · 18/07/2008 13:42

Elkie sorry about the results my sweet. I would personally have the further tests, this is due to dd recent diagnosis. It is not only Downs the nuchal fold and combined test is giving you risk factors for. DD's Turners Syndrome would have quite possibly shown up a high result, this would have meant i could be prepared and she could have had her Growth Hormone treatment earlier. I also would not have spent the past 7 years of her life thinking something was wrong and not really knowing what.

It would also have avoided that dreadful afternoon when the consultant phoned and told me to get my husband home send the children to bed and she would be around at 7pm. I sat for 7 hours convinced she was dying It was truly the worst experience of my life.

This time i had the nuchal fold even though i am only 30 and low risk, i just needed to know so i could prepare for every eventuality. The results came back this morning and i am 1:11501, i am hugely relieved but still need the 20 week scan to be calm.

Knowlege is power Elkie. Of course you may feel differently, i did before i dd's diagnosis. Good luck and shout if you need me

stripeywoollenhat · 18/07/2008 17:28

so after a week of not feeling sick, suddenly i feel like throwing up again, all day yesterday and today. rubbish, eh?

Elkidee, sorry to hear about results - i know it's not as reassuring as one would like but the odds are still much higher in favour of everything being fine than not. i have my fingers crossed for you.

rrrayray · 18/07/2008 18:01

Stripeywoolenhat - i am in the same boat, i havent been sick for 4/5 days and have been, apart from the tiredness, feeling much better. Today is a different story, although i haven't ever been just "feeling sick" my pg has been full of ACTUALLY being sick. I'm hoping its just today and i'll be OK tomorrow.

I still can't get my scan changed to any earlier than next wed, when i am 14+2, so i wont get the test! Oh well, not much i can do about it now.

tinkisagracefulshamu · 19/07/2008 08:51

morning

off to hit the next sale and then into town

Nellybell · 19/07/2008 20:50

Take a look at this.
www.goodtoknow.co.uk/family/174482/Chinese-birth-predictor--Baby-boy-or-girl-

Its a gender predictor. I've just done it for lots of people who've already had their kids and its been accurate everytime. Apparently I'm having a boy.

mrsmontano · 19/07/2008 22:02

nellybell well it's correct in saying my first child would be a girl.
it's predicting me a boy this time.... that'd be lovely i wonder if it'll be right.

tinkisagracefulshamu · 20/07/2008 08:56

i have been predicted a boy too as i have a girl already that would be lovely 2

fourlittlefeet · 20/07/2008 10:49

Do you get the same sex on this one??

OP posts:
missjackson · 20/07/2008 12:46

Ooh how exciting, I get a baby girl both sites!
However as my OH's family haven't had a girl born since 1902 I'm not too hopeful...

EachPeachPearMum · 20/07/2008 14:09

Well, it didn't get my first one right.... nevermind.
This time apparently I'm having a girl...

LenniEd · 20/07/2008 14:14

Apparently I'm also having a girl and it got DD right - but I should have been a boy (as should my sister) and my husband is a girl - my brother in law is also a girl. (Have got the family round, that provided quite a lot of entertainment.) It was remarked upon that out of a room of 6 people really the odds alone should have guaranteed a success rate of more than 1 in 6. I'm sure we were just doing it wrong though .

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their weekend. Elk - you have been on my mind all weekend, I hope you and your family are ok.

stripeywoollenhat · 20/07/2008 15:14

i get a boy on one and a girl on the other. hmmm. i 'feel' like it's a boy, but apparently my mum 'felt' like every one of her children was the sex it turned out not to be, so that probably means it's a girl...

MissHairspray · 20/07/2008 15:31

hmmm I got a different one on each site too. Everyone apart from me thinks its a girl, especially my MIL who insists on dangling a needle on a thread over my tummy everytime I see her, just to 'prove' that it goes round in circles and therefore must be a girl (although some sources say circle = boy!)Needle does bugger all when i've tried though!

PS another fun site is babynamegame.co.uk which lets you check out how popular your chosen name is in your postcode area.

mrsmontano · 20/07/2008 19:03

well the first site says boy and the second says girl....
i think boy, but then i also thought that about my daughter lol... i want to find out right now!!

LenniEd · 20/07/2008 19:36

We should add to our list our guesses at what we are having - I thought girl last time and was right, although towards the end everyone kept telling me I was having a boy even though at the 20wk scan the sonograpehr had said it was most likely a girl, although she couldn't be sure cos the baby was in an awkward position. This time I'm thinking boy - but I would like either. In lots of ways I would prefer another girl, but it would be nice to have one of each.

MsSparkle · 20/07/2008 20:03

Evening all,

I hope everyone is doing well.

My bump has officially popped out and i am getting bigger by the day!

I am going to the doctors on Tuesday as i am in alot of pain around my hips/pelvis area and i can't sit directly on the bone that's at the bottom of my spine. It hurts so much. Plus when it's really bad i get sharp pains down my right leg.

fourlittlefeet · 20/07/2008 20:53

sparkle, hope its nothing. just been on your cake thread, gosh that kicked off didn't it?!

I got a girl on the first, boy on the second. DD was right on both. . I am so sure its a boy, I got quite a shock when the first one said girl and it made me re-evaluate my feelings toward it being a girl - since I'm not finding out, I certainly don't want to have bonding problems on the day! All quite weird really. Felt DD was a girl and was right.

TMI alert....I've been feeling really, really sick and bloated. To the extent that I'm having problems eating much....also having problems with diarrhea/constipation. The end result is I've spent most of the last week on the sofa feeling too knackered to do anything which is both awful and a real bore. Anyone else had any of this; was planning to be blooming by now!

largeginandtonic · 20/07/2008 21:02

Ms Sparkle i saw your thread too, what a nightmare! I make cakes too and have been super careful about making them for friends as have lost out big time in the past. I am making my brother and sisters wedding cakes but my sister (bridezilla) will be buying the ingredients as she wants some giant beryy frosted thing. My bro wants a camper van My sis has seen how long it takes and what it entails, she will be coming to stay with me while i make it too as she knows how hard it is with children.

Hope the doc can help you.

I did both and got boy first and girl second, the sonographer seemed sure it was a girl at the 12 weeks scan...

Have been cleaning, even VINEGARing the windows. Am mad.

How are you all? Having a nice restful weekend i hope

fourlittlefeet · 20/07/2008 21:03

aha... lets keep an eye on this and see which one is more right....

OP posts:
blot4 · 20/07/2008 21:04

Ooh, looks like I'm having another boy (not a surprise given the tendency for boys in my dh's family).

MsSparkle - bad luck with the pelvic pain. Sounds like symphysis pubis disfunction (SPD) which I suffered with my first pregnancy. It's very tedious, although I managed with just some pelvic exercises and not walking too far - difficult with a big black dog and dh 1000 miles away for much of the time.

What's really bothering me at the moment is what feels like a muscular pain in my groin, meaning I was unable to put weight on my right leg the other night and ended up crawling round the house! Hoping it isn't SPD as it feels very different and even more annoying.

Nellybell · 20/07/2008 21:10

First one said boy for me and girl on the second, but when i tried the second one for my first DS, it said girl!
