missjackson · 15/07/2008 09:10

Morning Tink.

Last night I got home after 4 days in a Holiday Inn doing 14 hour work days not fun at all was soooo pleased to be back in my own bed I nearly cried with relief.

Now am still in bed eating marmite toast -- my idea of heaven! Feeling much better about the world in general.

Periwink · 15/07/2008 09:13

Good Morning! Well I think my baby belly has finally arrived. When I woke up this morning my belly was not flat like it usually is in the morning and was rounded.. usually it is only bloated looking / rounded in the evenings. Oh well - I am going to celebrate my continued belly expansion.

rrrayray · 15/07/2008 10:03

miss jackson.... i've been enjoying LOTS of marmite on toast..... but have now discovered marmite on Crumpets! Even MORE heavenly!

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2008 10:15

Marmite, noooooooooooooooo!

Crime against taste buds!

I am humungus by the evening and pretty large during the day tbh

Fym good luck with the scan! Hooray!

I am still feeling a bit queezy and have been spinning out a bit today. My BP must have dropped again. Have a busy week ahead so could do with feeling better really.

Am starting to get my head around the pink issue, wont believe it till the 20 weeks scan though!

largeginandtonic - hope the queeziness passes very quickly!

Yummy marmite on toast - pity for me there is no bread int he house (I am trying to cut down on all the bread I have been scoffing)

When is everyone planning on buying their pushchairs / prams? I was only going to start looking int he shops from October onwards?

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2008 11:03

Booksgalore glad the scan went well! How lovely to see a bouncing baby on screen.

Some have a long order time Peri, as much as 12 weeks. There can be delays too, better to research and order early. I am hoping to find one i want and get it on ebay so will just look out for a bargain and swoop whenever it happens!

Periwink · 15/07/2008 11:10

Thanks LGT - I will start my research soon! Did not even think there would be an order time - though I would just pop into the shop and buy chosen pram then and there ....

tinkhasagorgeousbean · 15/07/2008 11:11

missj - yah 4 marmite on toast
periwink yah 4 baby bump
lg&t i am 14 wks on thurs and mass all the time 2

i will prob get one nov

Periwink · 15/07/2008 11:18

Booksgalore - sure it will go fine with work on Thurs!

Thanks Tink.

My Seraphine long sleeve white top arrived it is such great quality and I love it - not ready to wear it yet - will wait a month or so and i think the belly will need it.

Also received my tops from Isabella Oliver - they are size 2 and are quite big - probably wear these when I am a bit bigger. I ordered the vest tops that are ruched at the sides - very flattering!

LittleSquirt · 15/07/2008 11:20

Morning everyone!

fymandbean - yes, it is my first baby. Wonderful news about your scan today! What time is it at? How many weeks+days are you now?

missjackson - I am not surprised you are so happy to be home. I don't know how you did it over the last few days, I am finding it hard to do ANYTHING at all at work at the moment! (plus the fact that I am due to resign soon anyway isn't helping with my motivation levels!

So glad to hear everyone is having the same "hard and bigger" tummy in the evening. It does amaze me every evening how much bigger I am and how hard it is!! Glad it's normal!

On another note, I have a ante-natal clinic this afternoon. I'm not sure what this entails though? I also have regular check-ups with my midwife planned (next one on 28th July) so I really wonder what they will tell me this afternoon. I shall report back later though.

Also, has everyone enrolled for NCT classes yet? (first timers). I have been filling in the forms and will post them and payment today. My first class is on 27th November and I am looking fwd to it already. Am I weird?

Wishing you all a great day! x

ColumbosWife · 15/07/2008 12:56

Haven't been on here for AGES... so much seems to have happened.
Congrats - double congrats! - to the people expecting twins.

I am with the pro-Marmiters.Yum.

Hope your nausea gets better, Largegin. Mine is finally subsiding, though exhasution worse than ever. I seem to take to my bed by 8pm most nights.

I am getting a big tummy too, though it comes and goes alarmingly dependoing on what I am wearing and the time of day. We've now told the dcs but I still haven't told people in general...but am thinking it is going to get too obvious pretty soon Can't quite decide whether to wait until September to tell people at the dc's school...

Finally had my 12 week scan - wonderful to see real tiny arms and legs. Though they also found a blood clot behind the sac. Has anyone else had this? They said it should be OK at this stage -with luck it will reabsorb itself by the 20 week scan. But I was told to phone them if I suddenly start bleeding heavily and experiencing pain. A bit alarming.

mel2005 · 15/07/2008 13:19

hello all,
i am a big marmite fan as well and it is very good for you (except the salt). - thats my excuse to eat loads of toast (heeeeheee) OH hates marmite so its not something i eat before bed as he will not go near me.

i have bought my buggy finally, i had decided to get a mountain buggy double and i just kept going on e-bay looking at newly listed buyitnow buggies because thats where the best bargains are usually found. its a relief to have some of the bits out of the way. i just need a bigger car, baby bouncers and the car seats now.

not feeling to well today, headache, bit dizzy, very tired and sick. i am really worrying as i dont feel to be getting bigger, i dont know if they have moved position so they are not protruding as much. i can feel one moving but am not sure about the other one. i might call the midwife today as i dont see her until 23rd and my next scan isnt until 26th aug. i really dont think i am eating enough as i have gone off alot of food and can only eat small portions. have resorted to cherry bio-yoghurts as i cant face any other dairy products. plain fish and chicken are the only meats i can eat with rice/noodles/potatoes/peas. i cant face even cooking pasta or red meats. i am eating a huge amount of apples (i am eating one now).

oh and for you first timers the 'fat ladies club'is a great and funny read, actually all of you would probably find it funny. its the real world guide to pregnancy by a group of women who met at nct/anti-natal classes? i passed my copy on to a friend but they are cheap on e-bay.

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2008 14:34

I have heard of it Columbo, should disappear without trace. I had a third sac with the twins that kept appearing, finally vanished and reabsorbed though.

Mel i have read that! Tis very funny. As the twins change position you will fell very different size wise. Try not to worry but phone the midwife for reasurance How much of a bargain did you get on the MB then?

mel2005 · 15/07/2008 17:20

£90!!!!!! it needs some tlc on the covers. i might even get new ones as i love the plum and chocolate and they will get alot of use over the next three years. the woman at mountain buggy uk is great and very helpful. it is the newer version so isnt that old. it has a raincover and sunshade as well so it was a real bargain. i didnt want to spend a fortune on an immaculate one as it will spend alot of time on the beach, woods or down a muddy farm track.
i got the carrycot for £60 and its the newest version. the woman i get it from is lovely and has twin girls she has even sent me some sheets and a raincover.
its going to cost a fortune getting two of everything so i am looking out for bargains. the books keep saying buy as much as you can in the second trimester as they might come early or i could end up on bedrest. i still have a car to find and then one to sell. i can send OH out to get the car seats as i already have the bases now so i can check they fit the new car. and i can now check the buggy and carrycot fit as well.

oh columbo! thats a worry. try and take it easy.

buckles · 15/07/2008 17:42

hello everyone, have been lurking for a while as after getting excited and posting got scared and withdrew until scan confirmed all was well.

Glad that everyone is getting a belly as mine is huge in the evening, are there any first timers that are getting a belly or are you all second time round?

For those marmite lovers, try marmite and philadelphia on onion bagel, AND have you tried drinking marmite? Tastes fab as a hot drink.

stripeywoollenhat · 15/07/2008 18:19

buckles i am a first-timer with and i'm definitely developing a bump - it just sort of appeared last week - it does come and go (and i think it is mainly composed of biscuits...) but i've had to move up a waist size... i'm only fourteen weeks today so i'm a bit scared that i'm going to be the size of a small planet by christmas... am tryng to hold out for autumn clothes to arrive in the shops as there's no point in buying a load of thin cotton when i'm mainly going to be big in bad weather.

anybody know if foetuses sleep at twelve weeks? seems like everybody else's nuchals took ages because the los wouldn't stop moving and mine took ages because titch wouldn't move into a position where the midwife could see the back of his/her neck, so i'm wondering if s/he might have been asleep?

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2008 18:21

< vomits at marmite, recovers then vomits again at DRINKING it! >

stripeywoollenhat · 15/07/2008 18:27

i think that marmite, like marmalade and marzipan, belongs in a special category of punishment food....

LittleSquirt · 15/07/2008 18:30

Welcome buckles It's my first too and I do have a small bump too (especially in the evenings). In fact I have just bought some maternity jeans from Isabella Oliver (I recommend them, they are great!). I was ordering them "for later" but now I've put them on, they are so comfy that I can't make myself take them off and I just know I will be wearing them from tomorrow! No point struggling with "normal" jeans which are ok in the morning but too tight by the time I get home from work!

Mel - I've just bought "Fat Ladies Club" from Amazon! It does look really entertaining! Has anyone read Jools Oliver's book? (Minus 9 to 1) - I have already read it twice and keep picking up now and again and reread different passages. I love it.

LittleSquirt · 15/07/2008 18:34

Sorry, me again! Forgot to say a couple more things!

  1. Marmite - I hate it! Have to agree with LGT that the idea of eating it is bad enough but drinking it???? No, no, no, no, no!

  2. My ante-natal clinic today was to assess whether I need consultant-lead care or whether Midwife-lead is enough for me. They said they are happy that everything is totally fine with me (including very low Downs results) so I'm carrying on with MD lead care. I thought it was really good that they assessed me properly before coming to that conclusion though. Wasn't expecting that.
