Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

johnworf,
my belly is also full of something that is slithering around, especially in the mornings!

hopefully · 21/05/2008 11:39

The kicks I am getting are now just about enough to stop me sleeping at night if it does it while i'm trying to drop off. It's when they start waking me up that i will be really unimpressed!

mustsleep poor you with the potty training - it's probably the thing I am least looking forward too, although everyone says it's not as bad when it's your own. I just have memories of friends' houses smelling of wee constantly...

johnworf · 21/05/2008 11:53

hopefully that's exactly where I'm at, at the mo...around 6am I get an early morning wake up call Hope it's not a sign of things to come!

eandz it feels so strange doesn't it? Even DH can feel the kicks now

DP actually tried to film my belly moving the other day, but I saw the film and my belly looked so ridiculously hairy and huge that I made him delete it!

Ooh, have just ordered a babybjorn carrier in black and white for DP - he is obsessed with them (I think he thinks having one will actually make him the attractive scandinavian man out of the adverts... )
He'll be so excited! Means I have about 4p to last me until pay day next tuesday, but nevermind.

johnworf · 21/05/2008 12:06

haha@hopfully. My DH has also bought a BabyBjorn! Lord only knows why. He can't wait to take the baby out in it. Again, I'm mystified as he's shown absolutely no interest in any of the other baby things we've bought.

Yep hairy belly here too. V embarrassing at ante-natal clinic.

eandz · 21/05/2008 12:15

johnworf,
it feels soo weird in the morning i always feel like something is going to erupt right before i wake up..and then look down to see my giant mountain of a tummy.

my husband and i still haven't bought a single thing for our baby. i'm not sure if it's because we're a little bit scared...maybe i'll go out today and buy things on my own. i don't think buying it all in the 7/8th month is a wise decision.

hopefully · 21/05/2008 12:19

johnworf are you sure you are not me?

hopefully · 21/05/2008 12:20

Oh, and eandz we have still only bought abut 3 things - a changing station, a seat thing and now the babybjorn. We also have about 2 babygros, so are not exactly prepared...

Sunshinemummy · 21/05/2008 12:21

hopefully and mustsleep potty training is something I'm dreading too. DS won't sit on his potty for longer than a couple of seconds and he's funny about weeing.

When we were in the garden the other week, he was rudey nudey the whole day, and it was four wees before he didn't go in the house and do it on a floor I then had to clean. He finally did a country wee in the garden but it took a lot of coaxing.

This morning he was in the rudey nude and weed again on the floor rather than tell me he needed to go. I then had the 'tell me and we can go and get the potty' chat but he doesn't seem interested overly, although he did then get the potty out when we were in the bathroom and sit on it for 3 seconds!

DebitheScot · 21/05/2008 12:28

I really can't see me having the potty training done before Sept. There's no way ds is ready yet and I don't want to push it as that won't help. Also I'm thinking that if I start it before the baby is born that he might then go backwards and we'll have to start again anyway.

eandz · 21/05/2008 12:32

so yes, is anyone having pain in their right front side while they are having an easy poo?

imoscarsmum · 21/05/2008 12:49

LollipopMother Not sure if anyone has explained my post from Monday to you (made me ) but iCandy is a brand of prams and they sell varities called Cherry, Apple & Pear. I'll be thinking I'm bloody Gwyneth Paltrow in a minute!! Cherry is the lightweight basic version, Apple is a larger pram that converts up to Pear (double pram) if you think you're having another LO. We both just loved the handling/look etc.

And I don't know what's happened to my profile cos when I look, everything is public and all my settings say 'allow anyone to view' etc. Hmm.

Pidge · 21/05/2008 12:50

jennylindinha - poor you with the eczema feet in plastic bags. Gosh I remember having to peel clothes off that had stuck to my skin. Thank heavens it isn't that bad these days even if it is driving my nuts. I actually got hospitalised for 5 days as a child with eczema, so relatively things are pretty good now. And I just bought a £2 fleece which is soft and doesn't irritate my skin (couldn't wear any jumper even with another layer underneath), so I am warm again (albeit rather scruffy!).

On the pollution mask front for cycling - I don't wear one. I was put off rather by an article I read which said that unless you have it fitted absolutely correctly, and unless it is thoroughly cleaned very regularly the mask can actually make things worse in terms of the amount of pollution you breathe in. So if you do use one you need to make absolutely sure you're wearing it right and that it's filtering properly.

Gave myself a day off cycling yesterday as the eczema was just too uncomfortable, but enjoyed being back on the bike today. Lovely cool but sunny morning for my ride.

johnworf · 21/05/2008 13:02

hopefully we're obviously seperated at birth The hairy belly twins...

I've bought a swinging crib, some bedding, a changing station with built in bath, loads of clothes, steriliser, bottles, breast pump and I've ordered my pram but I have declared that it shall not pass the threashold until baby is born I've a few bits n pieces to still get but I've done a list for DH.

Yep, I seem rather organised but 2/3 pregnancies I've ended up in hospital for weeks at the end due to pre-eclampsia and now I have Gestational Diabetes. So no, I'm not leaving it until the end (and DH). God only knows what I'd end up with if I did

jennylindinha · 21/05/2008 13:06

Well maybe I won't bother with a mask Pidge! I've heard that you need to keep the filters clean etc and I'm not sure I'll have the committment...

Glad your eczema is a bit more bearable now. Fleece is definitely the way to go when cycling, it even keeps the rain out. I feel like an old bag lady on the way to work these days, I had to buy some overbump leggings (H&M sale) because nothing else was comfy any more and I look pretty awful!

I sometimes feel like having a day off cycling but then I really miss it if I do. It's so much better than public transport, fumes or not...

imoscarsmum · 21/05/2008 13:10

I love doing my pelvic floor excercises cos they make me horny!! (tip - squeeze while you have orgasm - very good...!!)

Eandz just read your post from yesterday - don't be lonely. Kepp talking to us all!

imoscarsmum · 21/05/2008 13:17

Sorry - keep flipping between posts - this time last year DP & I went on holiday to Mauritius and Dubai and dear god was dubai hot! We thought it would be fun to walk from our hotel around the cornet to a local shop = about 3oo yds. We almost didn't make it - I was dizzy with the heat and wasn't pg then. Even in the pool it was like a blast furnace. Luckily we had 10 days in Mauritius and only 3 in Dubai - it was over 100 at night, so you couldn't even get col then. All the sane people went skiing in the indoor ski slope to get cool.
My point is, Eandz, if you go to see your DH (and you must miss him terribly), make sure you have a detailed plan as to how you will avoid the heat as it could be horrific otherwise (sorry if I'm saying things you've already though of - my memories of Dubai are that i wouldn't go back again!)

Sunshinemummy · 21/05/2008 13:18

Eandz my DP is away a lot as well. Maybe we should start a support thread?

DebitheScot · 21/05/2008 13:29

I was thinking I was hard done by last week when dh went away for 2 nights. Now I feel guilty, I am so lucky really that he doesn't go away often and when he does its only usually for a few nights and also he gets home from work by 5.30 every day.

DebitheScot · 21/05/2008 13:34

Swaddling wrap things were being talked about the other day so I thought I'd look into them. With ds he liked to sleep with his arms above his head right from the minute he was born and we tried swaddling him a couple of times but he didn't like it so we kept his arms out and then wrapped him up. He wasn't a very good sleeper during the day and he had that twitchy thing. What I was wondering is, those of you who have used them, did your dcs like being swaddled from the 1st time you did it or did they have to get used to but then slept better once they had got used to it? ie do you think that if I'd persevered with ds he might have slept better after a few days? I was thinking maybe if I got a swaddling thing (I do like the look of the proper ones, was never very good at doing it with a blanket properly) and put this baby in it as soon as its born pretty much, would it then be more likely to like it? Not sure if all that makes any sense but never mind.

mustsleep · 21/05/2008 13:36

really feeling for all those whose dh's are away

dh worked away for the first three months of pregnancy so can totally sympathise and defomust remember to make sure i threaten him with something terrible if he even considers taking an away job before lo has started sleeping through!!

as far a baby clothes go we have hardly got any despite alreadyu having ds1 (6) as when we found out that dd was a girl we gave them all away as we were stopping at two (stupid i know)

luckily a friend of dh's who has two ds's theoldest being 3 has said they have a load of baby clothes we can have and we'll just plump them up with some new stuff

and also my mum cannot go anywhere near a baby clothes store without having to buy something so will have to take her to have a look at some point!

mustsleep · 21/05/2008 13:38

ooh while i remember i have some bugaboo carseat apaptors and a black bugaboo pram apron for sale for £15 to you lot

keep meaning to ebay them but can;t be bothered taking the pics

mustsleep · 21/05/2008 13:43

debthescot with ds he was a really colicy baby and would only go to sleep if you swaddled him and held him until he had gone off and then very very very very carefully put him down (twas awful)

with dd i was anal about her being able toget herself off to sleep as ds had to be held to sleep until he started co sleeping with us which lasted until he was 4
so we would puther down wide awake wind the mobile and leave her and she was fine, we got her a sleeping bag and a noukie and she is still a good sleeper hope this lo will be the same

oh forgot though dd was colicky too and occasionally had to be rocked to sleep as this seemed to release any tracked wind/gas but by the time she was 3months old she would get herself to sleep and pretty much slept through

potxola · 21/05/2008 13:48
