I wonder how quickly we'll get through this thread?!?!?!?!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
systemsaddict · 11/05/2008 13:40

The guy in the trainer shop said ligaments in the feet stretch in pregnancy and can stay slightly stretched forever, but it is worse in a first pregnancy. Apparently it helps if you're a runner though ...

oh and neenz I should also add on changing that if they poo AlL THE TIme as my ds did from weeks 2 to 6 then just do your best with the nappies!!

splodgesmum · 11/05/2008 13:46

dramaqueen, hope you're feeling better, that must have been a nasty scare but at least you had the reassurance of hospital to tell you all was ok

Things are getting a bit exciting on here now with so many imminent births - and it's only 11th May! Not being due til end of June I fear I'm going to be billy no mates on here in a few weeks time as I'm not expecting this one to turn up on his due date (my mum was 11 days late with me and my sister!).

Although, s'pose being last one to drop will mean that I have loads of birth stories to learn from the rest of you!

The heat is pretty intense isn't it, and slightly concerned at the stories of feet never going back to normal. I've never had what you'd exactly call dainty feet (size 8 and very wide!) so if they don't shrink back down to pre-pg size I'm going to have even more trouble buying shoes! At the moment I have one pair of shoes that fit!

PearTart · 11/05/2008 13:47

systemaddict- it's too true about feet spreading- I've been bemoaning the fact that I haven't worn most of my beautiful/ sexy/ expensive footwear since before DD1 was born. OK so wooden heeled suede bunny shoes are not v practical with a pram- but even just to wear them at home...
Do you think they'd fit lying down???!!

splodgesmum · 11/05/2008 13:47

systemsaddict, do you mean it helps if you're a runner, as in your feet will go back to normal?

I run (or did!) and am hoping to return to running asap, so will my feet shrink again (she says completely desperately!!)

debinaustria · 11/05/2008 13:48

LOL Peartart - I can't see any Fango packages on their website - what a disappointment!! I would like to announce that I have a tidy ladygarden now - ready for wearing a swimming costume in the next few day, courtesy of dh. The mirror was just too tricky for me!!

Off to pack!!

PearTart · 11/05/2008 13:48

Slpodgesmum- we'll all hold on until you've squeezed LO out!

debinaustria · 11/05/2008 13:50

Splodge, I think we're all going to stay here until the last baby arrives them move en masse to the postnatal thread, it's only fair!!

PearTart · 11/05/2008 13:51

Deb! How Continental of you and DH!

systemsaddict · 11/05/2008 13:51

No I think he meant you run better with slightly stretched feet - sorry!

HJay · 11/05/2008 13:52

PearTart - Thank you

My feet have gotten a bit bigger it seems, my toes touch the ends of my shoes now and can be a bit uncomfy, but nothing too bad, I was expecting them to be worse, I'm glad they aren't though lol!

Forgot to add I have a scan tomorrow! I'm excited to see how much my LO has grown since 22 weeks, but not so excited about finding out if my placenta is still low, I don't want a c-section. Gonna ask for sure if it's a boy too, I keep feeling paranoid that they got it wrong since I was scanned by a student last time, and only had a fully trained doc do the very end of the scan to check the placenta and head measurements because his head was so deep in my pelvis they had trouble seeing.

PearTart · 11/05/2008 13:58

Loads of mums have low placenta at 20 wk scan and then most times it moves up as uterus grows. This was case with my 1st preg. Hope it's moved with you.

HJay · 11/05/2008 14:08

Yeah they said it probably would, but I swear LO just wants me to get a c-section! Lol not only the placenta thing but because my SPD is so severe I could need one, and also got high BP problems now so if that turns into pre-e I could need one as well. I suppose it's payback for not having any morning sickness or anything at all at the beginning, not even fatigue, I've felt great most of my pregnancy. It's just the last couple of months that have been hard. Trying to keep my chin up though, keep telling myself the agony & frustration is worth it lol!

sophiewd · 11/05/2008 14:28

HJay - if you do end up having a section they a planned one os not as bad as an emergency, I had one last time and booked in for another this time round.

Neenz - please catch up on some sleep when you can, you are still high from the birth but it will kick in.

splodgesmum · 11/05/2008 14:32

HJay, sorry to hear you're suffering with the SPD and high BP, that must be miserable . Fingers crossed for no c-section though.

Peartart and deb, thanks for the reassurance that everyone will hang around to wait for the stragglers! I had visions of just staying here chatting to myself for a few days - though being a Gemini I am used to having a schizophrenic personality!!

systemsaddict, now I have a mental image of my feet turning into something like a Hobbit from LOTR! Ohmigod, if my feet get any wider I will definitely have to make my own shoes!

Although I like the idea of being a better runner once I give birth - if it's good enough for Paula Radcliffe it's good enough for me! Sub-3hr marathon here I come! (btw, should point out here I've never run further than 10k so I am living in a slight fantasy world here, but a girl can dream!

Neenztwinz · 11/05/2008 14:54

Sophie - yes, I should be in bed not on MN! But we are going to mil's this afternoon so I will have a sleep then when there are lots of people to fuss over the babies.

I am sending DH out for oils and arnica - thanks for advice.

Re nappies - now my milk has come in there is no mistaking when they need a change. They are pooing all the time!

Upsidedowncake · 11/05/2008 15:06

Afternoon ladies

Neenz, you are amazing. A lot of people get baby blues when their milk has come in, so it's fab that you're doing well now. Hope your stitches OK, and congrats on Theo's poo!

Splodge, I'll be with you to the bitter end - will probably have elective C section on 7 July, if baby hasn't come by then of her own volition! Also, I have size 8, wide feet, was a runner, and my feet stayed the same size before and after DS1 ... so maybe us bigfoot ladies have stretched all our ligaments beforehand! Also MWs always say that big feet = big pelvis ...

Debs, hotel looks lovely. Have a wonderful time.

Welcome Hjay and good luck with BP etc, and scan tomorrow.

Dramaqueen, sorry you had a scary day

splodgesmum · 11/05/2008 15:25

upsidedowncake, looks like we're in it for the long haul then!!

Thanks for reassuring me on the Hobbit feet - and I had heard the big feet = big pelvis link! With that and the SPD I'm hoping for a quick and pain-free labour! (there surely has to be some advantage to never being able to buy nice shoes?!)

bitofadramaqueen · 11/05/2008 17:08

I'll no doubt be here until the bitter end too splodgesmum.

I'm feeling very sore and uncomfortable still. I'm also finding 'resting' very frustrating - I'm desperate to start packing my bag and do some internet shopping for some essentials I still need but am pretty much confined to the sofa. Have just had a wee walk about to stop me stiffening up, but walking and sitting very painful so its back to the sofa for now.

I have wide feet so lets hope that means my pelvis is wide (if my hips are anything to go by it should be ).

xxgemmalou22xx · 11/05/2008 17:28

neenz thanks i got soaked by my 4 year old twin nieces today so that helped cool me down, its great you had twins so special dont think i would cope with two though am glad im having one being as im alone lol x

Rolf · 11/05/2008 17:36

Afternoon everyone. Hope you've found some of those remedies are helping, Neenz.

We've just found out that our builders are going to start work on the attic the week after next, so I have a week to empty it. I konw it's nothing compared with Ernest's moving marathon but by the time I even get up to the attic I am out of breath. I'm going to try to to borrow some Large Boys from friends, who can carry the boxes downstairs, but I'll have to pack it all up. Arghh!

katyjo · 11/05/2008 17:55

still here, contractions seem to get more regular then stop - frustrating. Still feeling really crampy and back pain, will keep you posted. goingfor3 sounds like I'm having what you did, what do you do? Feel totally in limbo.

sophiewd · 11/05/2008 17:56

Good luck Rolf

whinegums · 11/05/2008 18:31

Hi all. Neenz, I read on another thread about someone using a frozen water-filled condom in gauze on their nethers - sounded like a good substitute for the gel pad things. Hope you feel less tender soon.

DQ - I ended up on my backside today as well - went out on a boat and the only way I could get in from the jetty was to sit down and hop in - only getting down was a problem! Am well padded in the bum area, but still a bit sore. Doesn't appear to have bothered monster though, who has been his usual bouncy self.

I reckon I'll be knocking around this thread til July as well, so glad to hear we're all going to stick together until the last pop.

Hope everyone else is well and not too uncomfortable in the heat.

Katyjo - oooh, something's going to kick off soon isn't it???! Good luck!

DonDons · 11/05/2008 18:53

Sorry to crash your thread - just wanted to say congratulations to Neenz - well done you!

Hope the lack of sleep doesn't catch up with you (am soooo tired emoticon) - get as much rest as you can when the babies are asleep is all I can say. BTW Amelie often empties my breast in 10 mins...

HJay · 11/05/2008 19:09

Yeah. I'd be more worried about an emergency c-section. But whatever the case, planned or not, if I have a c-section I'm going under general, no way could I deal with being awake and knowing what they're doing to me.

To be honest I'm not scared of having a section, just know I'd get irritated with not being able to do much the first few weeks after. It's bad enough not being able to lift anything or dress my bottom half myself right now with my SPD. (meant to post this earlier but laptop decided to go into hibernate to save battery power and I didn't have my charger until now)
