HazieDazieandBaby · 29/05/2008 23:18

I forgot to ask this earlier too, but is anyone finding it a bit harder to breathe? Don't worry, I'm not totally gasping for air but I have more like a feeling of someone sitting on my chest? I asked the mw about it last week but she didn't really say much, just that it may indicate anaemia, so they'd wait for my blood tests to come back. She said that if they didn't contact me by today, then everything was fine, but I'm not sure whether to call her back about it anyway?

cyteen · 29/05/2008 23:38

Hazie, I'm getting that too - have been for a while in fact. I think it can get pretty serious if it's to do with anaemia, my SIL had it towards the end of her pregnancy and she said she was literally gasping for breath. Might be worth checking on your results just to be sure though

Been doing some preliminary pram research...the mind boggles! Still feel clueless about what we actually need...the Silver Cross range looks nice though Quite like the one that comes with a stand so you can use it as a moses basket as well - any thoughts?

HazieDazieandBaby · 29/05/2008 23:44

Thanks cyteen! I thought it was more or less a(nother!) pregnancy thing but I'll call and check my results in the morning. Hope it's not causing you too much bother, although I was reading that you've got rid of at least one other problem since moving house!

I've bought a Silver Cross pram myself, although a friend is lending me a crib and another bought me a moses basket, so didn't need to go for the one with the carrycot. This is my one. It's really easy to fold and the car seat goes right onto the chassis. It's really easy to steer as well. I love it!!

TwilightSurfer · 30/05/2008 01:20

Oops. Sorry dropped off for a little while. I feel asleep on the couch.

Now dinner's over, DD's asleep and I'm watching Dirty Dancing for the millionth time.

Dizzy, yes DH will be home for a little while (10 days or so) but not really enough as DD1 starts back to preschool the week I'm due. Realistically the BF thing may fall to the way side very quickly.

Nappies...400...{{{THUD Twilight hits the floor}}}

{{{Twilight finally comes too}}}
Oh dear me Hazie, 400 nappies. Even if we do need that many, you really need to save something to make you leave the house occasionally after the baby arrives. I've purchased one package of size 1s and one package of size 2s.

Now as for the breathing thing... YES, I'm having breathing issues too. Aside from my bronchitis, which I'm learning to manage quite well, the belly is not pushing up into my lung area and I feel like I'm taking forceful breaths more now. Getting on all fours or bending over, allowing my belly to hang, with my hands on a chair seems to give me major relief. I do that when the breathing raises my anxiety level.

Sipping the last of my peppermint tea...time I should go to bed. I'm a bit tired now after dancing around to my movie. There's just something about Dirty Dancing...I can't sit still or not sing along. Makes DH laugh.

correction:
"the belly IS pushing up into my lung area"

I should really proof read my posts before hitting that button.

CaptainCaveman · 30/05/2008 08:31

Ah well done TS, I was just about to post that as the baby grows ever upwards it starts to encroach on the spaces previously occupied by other organs....inlcuding your lungs! If I rush around I'm easily out of breath, and if I jog upstairs I puff and pant like I've sprinted 100m . Nice belly shots too - that bump has certainly sprouted of late.

LOL at your nappy invasion hazie Perhaps you can build a cot out of unused nappies? So far I have bought none, but I do have one pack of boys pull-ups size 14-18kg left over from ds'potty training days! You are shaming me into going and buying some pampers new-borns. I was out every day after having ds, purely for my own sanity as I can't bear staying indoors all day. This may have been a 10 minute trip to tesco but at least I got outside of the same four walls - ifswim?

I am a little concerned that I am as big now as I was when I had ds at 39 weeks, and I'm only just approaching 29 weeks!! EEEK. My due date is actually 17th Aug but I can't be arsed to change on the stats (feel free to do this for me TS ). See what the mw says today - which reminds me, I must pee in a pot soon to take with me....

congrats jaminmywellies! great news on your pg. Do say hello to hotmama for me on your thread - I know her dsis.

Shazza2002 · 30/05/2008 11:03

Morning all

Very breathless here too. Kept thinking it's because I'm a lard arse but know really it is because I'm pregnant and lungs are all squashed. Now what excuse do I use again afterwards?

CC Did you say jog upstairs? How are you managing that? I'm considering asking work to install a stenna stair lift for health and safety reasons as one day they're going to find me in one big heap at the bottom where I've got near the top and fell straight back down again

cyteen I have gone for the same pram as hazie. I looked at the carrycot version, but as I have a moses basket already that was my reasoning for choosing the freeway. It lies flat too. Should be in stock next week so should have delivery soon. Somehow I can't actually accept I'm pregnant until get my pram

dizzy Wedding isn't for another 4 weeks. Just ordered some trousers to go with top. I just hope they fit.

Congratulations jaminmywellies Hope you're enjoying your pregnancy

For any of the ladies on their 2nd/3rd pregnancies, do you feel less organised this time compared to 1st. I just feel like I'm in denial.

cyteen · 30/05/2008 11:04

Mmmm Hazie I do like the Linear Freeway. A bit worried about size though, as all the reviews say it wouldn't fit in a smaller car boot - we've got a Fiesta, which is surprisingly roomy but still a small car - do you reckon it would be too big for one of those?

The Silver Cross prams are the only ones I've actually liked so far, I'll be gutted if we have to choose something else.

Having a bit of a down day today. All the recent threads on here about people wanting to kill themselves seem to have stirred something up in me, particularly that one yesterday from the woman asking how to make her suicide bearable for her kids. It's been nearly 20 years since my mum killed herself but I am still so fucking angry about it, angry with her for not trying harder, angry with my family for not keeping me properly informed, most of all angry that she's not here and my whole life has been blighted as a result. The only person I felt I could rely on in my family was my brother, and now he's dead too. I try not to get too self-indulgent about it, but really, what have I done to deserve this?

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 11:08

cyteen you have to just hide the thread and leave it to the others to deal with - some things are just too personal and not wishing to belittle the loss of either your mother or your brother - you're going to have your own family VERY soon and you'll be able to deal with all sorts of situations because of what you've been through

your brother was very obviously a huge influence in your life which is lovely and the best way to honour that is to make sure the wee one knows all about him from you

Shazza2002 · 30/05/2008 11:11

Oh Cyteen. I really don't know what to say. Apart from what you've gone through you have every right to feel how you do and it's completely understandable. Just to say you rant away and say whatever you want if it makes you feel better. Maybe the only good that will come out of 2 terrible experiences is that it's made you a better person who appreciates life more and therefore will no doubt make a very loving and unselfish mummy to your darling baby boy xx

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 11:12

shazza looking forward to hearing about the wedding and more to the point where is the pram going?!?!?!? don't be freaking me out people!!!

btw, if you do get a stenna stairlift am moving in with you

hazie breathless ness completely fine due to everything inside being squished but if it becomes MORE than that then please phone the m/w

although am not surprise you're out of breath carrying all those nappies home

cyteen have you been to see any prams yet, it is a minefield but if you just look online you'll like everything - is there a big pram centre near you that you can take your car with you to make sure the ones you like fit into the boot if you're going to be doing that?

narrow it down to a couple them check the reviews or ask on here - everyone has an opinion

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 11:15

ladies, dd2 was unbearable this morning so was very happy to hand her over to nursery staff for a few hours

went for a pootle round Borders (two new baby naming books ) TK Maxx, couple of things for the girls and tshirt for dh, Next and Mothercare

now these are all in one of those retail parks right next to each other so not far to walk waddle and yet am pooped

so am here, feet up, tingly cream on (its just DREAMY) and thats going to be me till 1-m when I collect the kids

dh still asleep, was on late shift till 1am so will waken him up at some point and ask him to drag the washing out I managed to put on earlier

horrible rain here today - am hoping none of you are in Somerset or nearby

Shazza2002 · 30/05/2008 11:21

It's ok dizzy, pram is being delivered to my mums. My sister is then going to keep it at her house. Am I still allowed to go there and have a push of it ?

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 11:24

phew - you may visit it but not bring it home before baby and if you do LIE TO ME!!!

Shazza2002 · 30/05/2008 11:49

I understand. My mum is exactly the same. I'm surprised she actually let me order it!

sarahnh · 30/05/2008 12:15

hey everyone,

Shazza i am so unorganised this time around it is not true!! I have done nothing, little poppet doesn't own anything.

I have being waiting for 2 months to get a toddler bed delivered from argos and still no joy arghhhhh... i keep thing then when it arrives i can start getting the nursery ready..

Have to get all of the baby's things from the loft in our old house but haven't managed to do that yet. I'm definitely in denial!!

Well dh is off on his jollie boys, he left on tuesday evening and i haven't slept a wink since!!! Have a girls night out tonight and am hoping dd childminder will have her over night but feel guilty asking!!!! I hate feeling guilty!!!Does anyone else feel guilty asking others to have their dcs? I don't do it very often but i would make tonight so much easier without worry what time to be back at and trying to get the childminder to and from my house, its so much hassle!!!xxxx

Buckets · 30/05/2008 12:23

I've been reading up on BF too, I'm quite excited about learning a new skill. Have also come to the conclusion that I am pg at exactly the right time, having summer hols to practise in private and no rushing about. Apparently you need to spend as much time topless and skin-to-skin with your newborn as possible to begin with so you can both relax and enjoy the BF. So I will definitely be holding visting hours at home again (I kept the hospital ones 2-7pm before and it was great, no surprises, no rushing about, ILs respected the pre-ordained kick-out time.)
Having such a lazy day as DH is home, had stonking sex while the kids were downstairs, bacon butties, bath, time to think about lunch I think. Kids farmed out tonight while we go for dinner and a friend's gig - aint life grand?

Shazza2002 · 30/05/2008 12:30

Well baby has a wardrobe in it's room and that's it. Cot is in my sisters loft. But can't actually put it in the room anyway as DD's rose petal cottage is in there. So have to find a home for that first.

I'm sure with DD I had everything set up and ready by now. I keep thinking once I go on maternity leave I'll do it all, but by then I'll be the size of a whale and won't be up to much.

I always feel guilty about leaving DD. Normally I plan to leave her at my mums so DP and I can have some time, but then I end up going to stay there aswell cause I feel bad leaving her just to do nothing. If I was going out then I wouldn't feel so bad. We're not taking her to the wedding we're going at the end June. It's a whole weekend thing, with not many children going and not really a family orientated wedding IYSWIM. It will be bad enough trying to keep DP entertained (it's my friends wedding) without a 5 year old aswell

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 12:35

I can't do the nursery as we have visitors coming at beginning of July for dd1's birthday

dd2 is still in the cot and will remain there as long as possible

sarah my two are going to a friends house overnight tomorrow as dh and I both have to work - will get a lie in on Sun morning and will loose NO sleep as it happens so rarely and they LOVE it

take the time when you can get it

buckets you should be used as an advert as to how to do pregnancy properly

Buckets · 30/05/2008 12:36

Sarah, we've got lots of rellies nearby but I'm still very sparing with the babysitting requests, I think of it like building up karma points. My folks are great but my mum tends to ration favours LOL, although she's been great with this pregnancy and DS's Aspergers diagnosis (and is giving us her old car so I feel more guilty!). My ILs won't be able to handle DS for a few years (we dont say this out loud of course) but they will have DD for a couple of nights over my CSection. Of course I feel guilty about that because MIL is so gushy about DD (not that DS would care if he noticed) but then DD deserves the DD-centred time she will get there. Then there's going to be child#3 to feel guilty about - the guilt never ends!

HazieDazieandBaby · 30/05/2008 12:41

Thanks for the advice on the lung crushing everyone! Without wishing it on all of you, it's at least nice to hear I'm not the only one.

Hope you're feeling a bit better cyteen, I totally agree with dizzy and shazza on what you've been through. I can't imagine how you feel as I haven't been through anything like that myself. You must be a really strong person to have built yourself back up again after all that and should be proud of yourself for it. You're going to have a very lucky little boy who will not want for love or support by the sounds of things. On the pram front, I would go to Mothercare, John Lewis or the like to test out fitting the pram in the boot. Not wanting to put a dampner on things, but we have a Golf and it just fitted in there, but it depends on which chassis you go for. The Linear chassis that I went for is quite long when folded, but the Classic one is about 20cms shorter than the Linear when folded so may work out for you. The measurements are further down the page. Fingers crossed!

Lol at shazza's stairlift idea! Can I move in too?? We could share the pram so could halve the cost of that!

Good idea on the nappy cot CaptainCaveman! Wish I'd thought of it before we'd ordered it though! I can totally see what you mean about not buying loads now, to give you an excuse to get out later. Darn, does anyone need any nappies?

Loving your bump pics TS, it's amazing how many different shapes they come in isn't it? Mine's is more of a 'beachball up the t-shirt' kind of shape, whereas my friend's one was the same sort of lower down kind of bump that you have. Is anyone else going to miss their bump? I love mine! Hold on, that was probably a real first-timer question! 'How am I going to have time to miss it?' should have probably been the real question! Oh, and sazzles don't be about my supposed 'pop-star' bump. She probaby meant Michelle McManus circa. 2003!

Well ladies, I'm off now! Away to drive off to Edinburgh where we're staying before the scan tomorrow! Everyone I talk to is about as excited as I am about it, although that's probably because I'll stop going on about it after tomorrow!

Hazie - You have me in a panic. I have a Clio (new shape) and am now concerned the chassis won't fit in the boot. Yes, Yes I know you lot are all probably saying why didn't I test it first, but you know how you tend to look at things in shops and think "Yeah, that'll be fine". Now I'm not so sure. I've googled it and no information anywhere about fitting in a clio boot. Oh shite . Looks like I'll have to find somewhere that stocks them so I can test out in my boot. I put it down to pregnancy brain

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 13:56

dh says I can get the duo walker sky pram but then again I haven't told him the price yet [meep]
