mamamufin - sorry to hear the news about your fil

izzybiz, lol about commenting on someone's wrinkilness .
I'm still having the opposite problem, all my normal clothes still fit, and no one has guessed at all as far as I know. In fact if I tell people I worry they think I'm making it up. I know i didn't show for a long time with dd, but second time round thought it might be earlier. Can't help panicking that it's not growing though

Love the summer weather, and it makes bowls of fruit so much more appealing, so I'm feeling a bit healthier after lots of watermelon and English strawberries today

I just got the skype call I've been waiting for! Our friends in Brazil have a new daughter called Gloria! These are the people we went to visit in January and we found out we were pg while we were staying with them. They were told they were having a girl last time, but then out popped their son! They're very c-section happy in Brazil, but it turns out the baby was large and there was a knot in the umbilical cord so its a good thing. She was in two minds about going natural anyway coz she had 3rd degree tears last time. Ooooh I wish they weren't so far away, we won't see them til christmas next year when they move back, coz there's no way either family is travelling before then with two children! Can't believe the new baby will be older than my dd is before we meet her But I'm still really happy for them!

Hi, haven't posted in ages but have been catching up now and then, this thread moves so fast! I have my scan on monday next week can't wait ..!

Any suggestions on where to go for maternity clothes that are actually nice??! Shops or internet.

I need something for a couple of weddings and also would like some really nice summer dresses that are in a nice colour. I am quite fussy and practically everything I have seen has been so mumsy and in horrid colors and patterns. I found a dress in Primark this week which was only £8 so pleased with that!

Lilipink Gap Maternity has saved me from a summer of florals and black linen! They're not in every branch, but worth seeking out. They even have a sale rail. Got some fab trousers reduced from £30 to £5.

eandz · 08/05/2008 08:52

yeah i got the khaki cargo like pants that go in two lengths and grow with you from gap for 4.99... they're amazing... Although too big currently.

gap has new stuff that comes in every week..and i bought a pair of jeans that look and fit amazing.

also, i went to dorothy perkins but the stuff wasn't really good quality (the sleeve came off in my hand when i pulled at a stray thread).

Sunshinemummy · 08/05/2008 08:55

imoscarsmum the Bugaboo carry cot is totally flat. Then when the baby is in the pushchair the seat does go flat but is curved to fit the body so the baby's bum goes into a dip. DS has always loved his and it's the only pram that he will still sleep in at 2.2. It's be an absolute godsend when we've been on holiday as we've taken him out in the Bug and he's slept while we've had dinner.

Agree with everyone else re. Gap maternity - it's fab. I got most of mine in the States but I'm sure they have similar things here. Also H&M and Top Shop are big faves of mine. My friend also mentioned recently that French Connection clothes are great when you're pregnant, even though they don't market them as maternity wear. Apparently she lived in FCUK last time.

eandz · 08/05/2008 09:02

i bought some stuff at h&m mama but the pants weren't as well fitting and properly proportioned as the gaps ones.

the shirts at h&m are great though.

Sunshinemummy · 08/05/2008 09:04

I've got some cargo pants from last time around and they're great. I've also got some lovely shirts, jumpers and tight tops. And I don't think I spent that much either.

eandz · 08/05/2008 09:12

so what did you do about shoes? my french soles are really uncomfortable and tbh already have holes in them from my added fatness.

how are you getting around? i can't walk around in converse all the time i feel like a pregnant child.

mustsleep · 08/05/2008 09:34

i have my trainers for the wet days

and my ballet pumps for summery days, i cannot walk in flip flops and have never been able to so they are completely out and we aren;t allowed to wear open toed shoes for work anyway so the pumps are great and so cheap that i can have them in a variety of colours !!

ooooh we have the valuer coming this morning so may be finding out exactly what we can borrow!! this will either be the difference between being able to add another bedroom and conservatory straight away ie before baby or having to wait until sept as my lovely mummy said they would give us 10K !!!! am really excited but can't help thinking that due to the dropping house prices it's not going to be what we want it to be

anyway really need to start buying some baby clothes we literally have 3 baby grows and two outfits and that's it but we are having a bit of a cash flow crisis at the mo!!

dd is finally getting that we will be having another baby in the family and keeps asking if the buggy is for "the girl" when i shake my head she will say "oh it's for the boy?" then i will say yes and she will say "for charlie" i keep telling dh this in the hopes that he will just let us call him that

eandz · 08/05/2008 09:44

awwww.... thats really sweet.

Sunshinemummy · 08/05/2008 09:45

Shoes I wear either my Converse, Uggs, Havaianas or Fitflops. For posh I have a pair of gold cork wedge sandals or a pair of gorgeous silver mary janes from Kurt Geiger that I bought last time I was pregnant (they have a lovely, comfy, block heel). I've also got some flat white pumps in my desk drawer to change into when I get to work (I'm wearing my Fitflops to travel in at the mo).

Mustsleep H&M is great for cheap baby clothes too. I'm going to go and have a look on Saturday now I now I can buy loads of lovely pink and glitter!

I went in Zara after I found out about having a girl and bought the most gorgeous little dress for her. It's like a little sixties shift dress - while with a little bow at the neck and covered in cherries. It has matching knickers too. It's so cute but wasn't cheap.

Sunshinemummy · 08/05/2008 09:46

Oooh while I remember I also have some kitten heel Jummy Choos that are also quite comfy.

eandz · 08/05/2008 09:54

my only pair of jimmy choos don't fit anymore and my feet are far from their delicate usualness. it's too hot to wear my uggs... i really don't want to ever wear crocs...so maybe a pair of jellies? i don't know i guess it's my converse till the end.

potxola · 08/05/2008 10:01

Hi You are all so excited about your babies, prams, pushchairs. I love reading about it.

Jearound CONGRATULATIONS! Excellent! My Lorea will have an English boyfriend who WILL SPEAK SPANISH AS WELL AS HIS ENGLISH MAMA. No pressure!

Mamamuffin I send you lots of love and I hope you all are feeling better after the bad news.
I do have to congratulate you on your BOY. That is great news!!!!!! Who said morning sickness was a sign of having a girl? ME I was SOOOOO wrong.

I am Ok, very tired and having strong pains quite often, but Lorea is fine. I just have to rest for the rest of the pregnancy.

Sunshinemummy · 08/05/2008 10:04

I have Crocs too - I have to say they are so comfy that I love them. Pumps might be a good idea! Or I also have some Birkenstocks but I find these a bit uncomfortable, although some people rave about them.

I know what you mean about feet getting bigger. I have a gorgeous pair of Stella McCartney peep toe sandals that I haven't been able to wear since DS was born as they were always a little small and my feet have gone up half a size.

eandz · 08/05/2008 10:13

i've also been wearing birkenstocks but they're getting uncomfortable now that my feet are soooo swollen. argh!!! i might go and get another pair even if i risk looking like a butch lesbian.

mustsleep · 08/05/2008 10:20

the rosket dog pumps are really comfy and they do opentoed ones for summer

eandz · 08/05/2008 10:23

ok... i'll look into them this afternoon. i just can't walk around looking like a pregnant teenager.

mustsleep · 08/05/2008 10:25

Wombfor1more Congrats on getting into the magazine, I don't buy it but I'll take a look the next time I'm in WHSmiths.

Mamamuffin - Sorry to hear of your FIL.

I seem to have completely the opposite outlook to all you other ladies, I love people telling me my bump is massive, I love looking pregnant and people commenting.

izzybiz · 08/05/2008 10:42

Morning People!

Another beautiful day here in sunny Winchester! Am taking Dd to the park in a minute with her bucket and spade, meeting a friend and SIL and their children.

Dh is picking us up at 2.00 to go to the hospital for our scan! YEAH!!
I'm hoping baby is in the right position for its girl or boy bits to be seen

I have a consultant appointment afterwards about my liver so will probably be kept waiting hours!

Will check in tonight and let you all know the result!!

Have a lovely day.x
