Well after playing possum most of yesterday I can only assume that the monster was saving all their energy for today. Thing we are in training for River dance.

Got stuck into working at college this afternoon and was there over 12 hours Hope everyone is well too tired to read all the posts.

isaidno · 29/04/2008 07:25

CilC - no offence taken!
I've got mw appt today, and hopefully she will tell me my iron levels are ok in my last blood sample.

sweetkitty · 29/04/2008 08:01

Morning all went to bed at 10 last night am totally shattered anyone else like this just very very tired all the time, luckily DD2 was only up the once at about 4 am and DP sorted her out.

Minkus · 29/04/2008 08:36

Ah-hah libra! Congrats to him and his dw! Louis is a great name, its on our list too, and James is our surname so I think he's off to a very fine start

Got a Glucose Tolerance Test today, bleuurgh. As I've not been allowed to eat since last night I have been sick x lots this a.m. as I NEED something as soon as I wake up to make my blood sugar normalise I think, or else I chuck. Will have to wait until later to bush my teeth otherwise I am worried I will encourage the vomit cycle even more and then it won't stop!

Kitty yes I am knackered all the timetoo, apart from a window of about an hour and a half in the morning I think around 10-11.30. DS was also awake twice in the night and I am feeling the brunt of it also so to you, you're not alone.

Good luck isaidno for the bloods

Right, got to get off MN, put the bins out and head to Hereford hospital for this dratted GTT.

Have a good day all
Minkus
xx

sweetkitty · 29/04/2008 09:14

Good luck with the GTT Minkus

disneystar · 29/04/2008 09:38

good luck with the test today minkus

we are not far away then if you go to hereford as im in gloucester

isaidno · 29/04/2008 10:02

Good luck Minkus.

I've just got back from the mw and the good news is I've passed the iron test - just. Everything else is fine, although baby is still transverse. I've got a scan in 3 weeks to see if the placenta has moved. I hope it's not still low and that's what stopping baby going upside down.

Got my gym ball out the other day so I think some sitting on that may be in order.

Have a good day everyone xx

CilC · 29/04/2008 10:19

Minkus I have a GGT next week. I have also been told to strve which I am not looking forward to as like many without something to eat in the morning I get acid, vomitting blahh blahh blahh... Would be interested in knowing what the test involves? MW said you just drink a solution and then hae tests. Are they urine or blood?
Anyway good luck!
isaidno I have found sitting on gym ball while at computer helps alleviate some of the guilt I feel for spending too much time on here!!! It is excercise!
I am having a boy this time and noticed some of you discussing boy names... It took my husband and I 2 weeks to agree on a girl's name for DD and we had 3 names we both liked. This time we can not agree on anything!!! May have to go over to the name thread for help!

bebejones · 29/04/2008 10:30

Thanks to everyone with suggestions re: Blackout blind! Said to DH about film but he is worried that it will be difficult to get off afterwards! Think I may go for the material and make a sort of blind myself. It's a very awkward little window but Im sure I can create something to fit. All par for the course whn you fall in love with an old house!!!

Having another day off today as still not sleeping, and have been really sick again this morning. Starting to think it may be some kind of bug. Just want to curl up and sleep but dreaded hayfever makes me feel so full of gunge when i liedown its impossible to breathe, and if I sit up LO seems to be doing the fandango!!!

TJuice · 29/04/2008 11:09

bebe - i am sure i have seen a small travel black-out blind advertised in one of my baby magazines - that you can take from place to place to create enough darkness for your baby . . . I will look it up. - -eta found it!

Baa-baa blinds hwww.baabaablinds.com

ikea has black out blinds that you cut to fit your window . . .

jocesar · 29/04/2008 12:22

Thanks for all the formula advice. I can see the sense of what isaidno says- I can imagine that if I'm knackered and desperate it will be all to easy to reach into the cupboard! However I live miles from civilisation so I think I may put a couple of cartons of aptimil right at the back of the cupboard!

Libralady- I live in Milton Abbas and isn't it a fantastic part of the UK. I has a choice of Poole or Dorchester to pop and I went for dorchester just because it's smaller and less busy- although they told me they are expecting a very busy July! I'm desperately keeping fingers crossed that the birthing pool will be free when I need it.

We've been buying all our baby stuff of ebay and making huge savings. The quality of all the used stuff has been amazing- highly recommended. The money I'm saving seems to be going on cakes and a hynotherapy course and I bought a lovely tankini yesterday as I'm off to a posh spa day tomorrow. Having a manicure, pedicure and back massage and will spead the rest of the day alternating between eating and swimming.

disneystar · 29/04/2008 14:21

cliC usually a GTT test involves starving then drinking a solution then having bloods done sometimes more than once i think last pregnancy i had mine 3 times done

i just had my blood results back and my iron levels were 9.3 which she says im aenemic maybe that why ive been tired im having tablets to help if it doesnt injections on top of my insulin jabs its all needles

does anyone know how to boost you iron levels up with food can this be done?
remember no sugary things though
going to drag myself to do the school run now all i want to do is sleep lately

EEC · 29/04/2008 15:55

jocesar - I 've been buying a whole load of great second hand ebay bargains too. We've probably been bidding against eachother! steriliser and moniter arrived today... You really do save loads of money.

Had bloods today so fingers crossed for the results. Am feeling very tired and lethargic so am hoping that I am not low oin iron.

Lo is still breach, but trying not to worry as at 29 1/2 weeks it still has time to turn I'm told.

I hate this rain1

Libra1975 · 29/04/2008 16:03

Afternoon all, good luck to all having tests done today and hope the results are good.

DS - spinich and dried apricots are good for iron and also if you take the rion tablets with orange juice the vitamin C in orange juice helps increase iron absorption.
www.vegsoc.org/info/iron.html

I am finding freecycle is my friend for getting stuff ready for the baby, yesterday I picked up a very nice cot from someone so all we have to do is buy the mattress. The money we are saving is going on a hypnbirthing course that we have found. At the moment I am going to be doing Yoga pregnancy on a Monday, hypnobirthing on a Wednesday and NCT on a Thursday, I will be the most prepared woman in the world for labour and will still end up screaming for an epidural....

MINNIE1 · 29/04/2008 16:10

Mummypig
Many thanks on the offer, but i purchased today. Got a pin strip trouser in white and a brown top to match sounds horrible but it looks and feels really good on and plus i will wear them again.. Just have to get the shoes/bag etc but all minor matters..

Sweetkitty
Thanks on the topshop tip but wedding is sat.. All sorted now paid an arm and a leg but i will wear again so not to bad!
On the tiredness i have been going through that, i find i have to nap during the day to keep me going, for me that is unheard off but i have to. Any chance of a nap for you with lo's ?

Librelady
Hope you have a fantastic time on hols and come back all refreshed...

Feeling in better form today, and the sun is out which makes a change! Had a lovely hot bath last night and felt wonderful after it.. Then lo's kept me up half the night!! but i have a plan in action to get them to sleep all night tonight!!

Disneystar
Green veg is good full of iron, broccoli esp. I used to eat alot when i was pregnant with the girls but this time i cant suffer it!! Red meat is very good too.. If i were you i would top up on veg and red meat and it would all help..

sweetkitty · 29/04/2008 16:36

Afternoon all am so glad it's not just me feeling tired all the time, I take Sanatogen multivits plus Omega 3 so I know I am not anaemic, bloods always come back fine. Less than 0 chance of getting a nap with my two in the afternoons. They don't have a nap at all themselves.

I'm getting a bit stressed I don't have much for the baby yet but then I keep remembering I have 2 girls already and have most of the things we need.

Next pay day in May I will sort out my things like new PJs/mountain of sanitary pads etc

Minnie - glad you got something nice to wear.

CicC - I sit on my gym ball all the time when I am on here too. It is so obvious I have a bum underneath my ribs on the right hand side, this is the exact same way I carried the other two so it must be the comfy side of my uterus.

One of my friends is due on Sunday, first baby and is terrified of the indignity of labour, keeps asking if theres another way the baby can come out. I am trying to reassure her that she won't care come the day.

hello all

re the formula debate - I failed at bfing wth my first two . dc1 was starving as i never got him weighed and and no idea - dc2 was a pain and never took to it. i eeked out bf/ff with dc1 until 6 months but dc2only until 3 months

dc/3/4/5 i approached with a very different tack. i did not give them anything else - no water no formula no dummy just boob - i am also big on expressing milk and built up a store from early

My advise and it is only my personal view but - if you feel strongly that you want to bf do not give yourself the option of formula. if you do not mind either way then by all means buy formula but ime i think supplementing irrepaably damaged my supply

weather nice today and dp was quiet at work so he came home and painted some doors and i mowed the lawn and generally pruned our unruly garden

was ordering some lights and door handles ( exciting ) from john lewis last night and popped some organic cotton vests in the basket and some neutral baby gro's which looked nice. wish i could find some of those petit bateau vests that are like little wraps - almost like a ballet wrap but with poppers

anyone got any ebay tips as i am finding it such a minefield and seem to sped hours but get no where

my friend bought a 'birth to potty' set of real nappies/wraps for next to nothing and is delighted with them but when i look i just get lost!

sorry for all you gtt test women - i am lucky and avoid it - truth is i never eat before lunch anyway so it may not be such an issue for me!

re iron - I have been told many times that unless you eat meat then diet alone will not sufficiently raise iron levels during a pregnancy. the human body is terribly inefficient at any mineral absorption although uggins of red meat will suffice
I am vegetarian and have been feeling terribly sluggish at the moment so popped out to buy more spatone - it is one 3 for 2 btw in boots so go get it girls!

what is the window in the roof? is it like a velux rooflight because their blinds are the dogs bolleaux! fit in minutes and 100% blackout i heart them

re spd you poor things! My advice is actually just to take it really really easy - eve if it feels ok. i had it for the first time last pg and have so far been spared this time. I am very nervous as it made me really miserable. you feel so debilatated and the more you do nothing the deeper you sink

just take it really easy - keep legs together ( apart from the rude times! ) and do not slip!!! I am hyper aware of slippy floors/pavements as the splits would be a killer!

ds4 weeping so best go! love to all x

ButterflyMcQueen · 29/04/2008 17:52

sorry dont seem to have put names in thread

also meant advice not advise! must check!

JODIEhavingababy · 29/04/2008 19:53

Evening

RE Formula 'debate' I've got a stock of it in, but only because DS was such a f**g nightmare, made my life hell for first 2 weeks, and being over emotional anyway I spent it all in tears as he wouldn't latch properly and it hurt SO MUCH, but only coz of latching probs (and when I tried to express to give my poor nips a rest the milk just wouldn't come (stress related I think) so no wonder he was hungry!... I REALLY want to BF this time round, I've addressed several probs (thanks to MN!!! It's fab on every level) so hopefully it will be a goer!but as I'm self employed and work the occasional night time I know that bump will be on a night time bottle from very early on, and at least DH can give me a hand with the night feeding! Maybe it's not 'guidelines' but it's going to have to work for us, but that's just the way our lifestyle is!

I've had such a bad day today, it was going OK, fairly normal, until my MOT, bloody car is poorly sick and it's going to cost me £300 to get it fixed and it's in car hospital tonight and I had to get MIL to pick me up from garage, and she's going to have to take me back there tomorrow! Good job she's so lovely!

Libralady - I'm so at your holiday, I want some sun!

Cupcake, if you join the Boots baby club you get a free bag when you buy some Pampers.

EEC I asked the midwife at my appt on Friday about when to get worried about positioning, she was vague as it depends on size of baby and how much room there is in there, but there is still plenty of time, I think, in a normal they start getting concerned at about 34 weeks (ish) But don't quote me on that!

Is anyone else getting pised of with the fact that they are BURSTING for the toilet and get there and it's just a trickle?????

pigleychez · 29/04/2008 20:15

Hi everyone,

Hope your all well. Feeling shattered tonight!
Just had a pizza delivered but it wasnt that nice so bit annoyed about it- Probably cause im tired.

Just a question for those who have had the GTT recently.
Where you told how long your results would take? If so how would you be told... midwife appointment, letter , phone call?

Only had mine on Friday but its in the back of my mind it will be positive!

CilC · 29/04/2008 20:45

Oh did not realise it was blood tests, thought it was just urine tests...hmmm a few more...
As we are all due in July I would hope the results don't take too long. I generally ask when results will be back, how long etc. but then I am a bit pushy like that!

CilC · 29/04/2008 20:49

p.s wish I could eat pizza...mmmmm miss pizza. Sadly can't keep it down and not the best thing to eat when you know it will come back! Funnily enough I do miss it...and soft smelly cheese, smoked salmon, pate, scotch, champagne... still can not cope with coffee though...the smell...
I must go and eat! Chicken, vegies and mash...so over mash!

Libra1975 · 29/04/2008 21:16

I am still at work, tired and about to get stroppy.

sweetkitty · 29/04/2008 21:23

Don't blame you libra

I'm shattered early bed again tonight I think.

I bloody hate SPD it's like it's ruining this pregnancy for me and it's the last time I will ever be pregnant so I want to enjoy it. Am in agony tonight probably because I spent 3/4 of an hour ironing this afternoon I know but it's not going to get down otherwise, am thinking of getting it oursourced for now and about 3 months after this one is born.

Jodie - sorry you are having a rough day

Hope everyone else is having a nice evening.
