Hello ladies, sorry I've not been around for a while, a rather playful dd will not allow for mn time!

CSWS thanks for not removing me, I still feel part of the group now!

Talking of weight gain, I'm 17 weeks and have put on 13lbs, I've not exactly been a saint but not a pig either, hoping it slows down a bit, hoping not to pile on the almost 4 stone of previous pg's.

AandMsmum · 13/05/2008 23:22

I think the baby is too tiny and squashy yet to feel body parts?! May be wrong but dodgy tummy is my thinking...

sambrads · 14/05/2008 08:43

oh my goodness i cant afford to put on 13lbs in this first half as i will probably put on 4 stone in the next 20 weeks hahaha

cant believe i am coming up to 21 weeks its so scary to believe it i have my scan on the 28th and i cant wait

i want to find out what im having but dh is not fussed but i really want to know .

whats the chance i could find out and not tell him???

Sambrads I am having the same conversation with my DH. I want to find out this time. I have been very anti finding out with 2DD. This time I really want to know. DH doesnt want to know. How can I get him to agree? Apparently the hospital will not tell one if the other doesnt want to know the sex.

Rowanmac. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and your family. I hope the results come back with good news for you.

I think it is normal to feel movements after 17-20 weeks. Every pregnancy is different. It is all dependant upon position of baby. If they are behaving and are lying in the correct position then you shouldnt feel movements until baby is much bigger as the legs & arms will be towards your spine.

rowanmac · 14/05/2008 11:18

As you may have noticed I'm hovering just below the ceiling at present, had a flap this morning after building very heavy sandcastle with DS that i'd done something stupid, having brought myself back to floor level and thought back its actually being kicked hard from inside!I'm 17 1/2 weeks so I'm feeling it earlier than last one. Its probably objecting to having a needle waved at it on Monday.
Many thanks for good wishes.

KSal · 14/05/2008 12:15

bethoo i am definitely feeling little kicks when I lie on my back, which has surprised me - i didn't expect them to be more than flutters at this stage. The tumbling around is strong enough for my husband to feel now. I also get a few prods now and again if the waistband of my trousers cuts in, so i am going to need some more maternity jeans i think!

I still haven't put on any weight, which is confusing me as my bump is getting pretty obvious now! maybe i am just using up reserves on my bum (wishful thinking!) but seriously I have definitely not been dieting .

Maybe its cos i am quite big in general already (am just under 13 stone, which is fine for my height, 5'11")

ronshar · 14/05/2008 12:32

Ksal, with my 2DD's I didnt put on any weight until the last 10 weeks. I was still wearing my normal uniform (size 12)at work until 28 weeks. This time my smugness has left me. I have expanded round the middle loads.
I dont bother with the scales I think they are a form of torture device. I dont eat alot normally but as soon as I stop exercising my muscle turns to fat, lovely!

KSal · 14/05/2008 12:45

yep i have a feeling my wweight is just going to suddenly explode!

ronshar · 14/05/2008 14:26

Just remember you will be beautiful because you are growing a baby.

perkypopsy · 14/05/2008 15:08

Hi Everyone - so cool with all the kicks and bumps - we are halfway there ladies (give or take ). I felt lots of kicks last night from the outside and just lay there watching my belly move around and just completely fell in love with my baby and - am excited/nervous about scan next tuesday but will be great for DH to finally get to see minipops as i changed the dates of the other scans at the last minute.rosebury I have had quite a few comments over past few weeks - the first on gave me a shcok cos I thought I was still just looking fat - but I now get random comments and I want to dance around on the spot and can't stop grinning - YES THIS IS REALLY ME AND I AM PREGNANT YAAAAAAAAAY
Am wearing a lovely flowery tea dress from Topshop today and feel all mumsy but also not too frumpy - need an outfit for a wedding next month - people have offered to lend me stuff but I really feel like wearing something bumpalicious!

perkypopsy · 14/05/2008 15:11

p.s. stop talking about weight ladies this is the first time in my life I have stayed off the scales and I keep reading your posts and thinking EIGHT STONE???? I haven't been that weight for ten years at least ...I'm staying off the scales and hoping for the best - if you see a huge fatso shorty walking the streets of hertfordshire you'll know its preggarspops

sparklesandnowinefor5months · 14/05/2008 15:55

i was mortified this morning when i got on the scales thought i'd only put on a couple of pounds, its in fact 8lb and i really want to keep weight gain to a min this time if i can, not silly just not as much as i put on with the others!

must stop eating crisps

ronshar · 14/05/2008 16:05

Get back to work preggerspops.
Stop looking at yourself in the windows of shops.
Just wait till you get kicked in the fango. Not so nice

perkypopsy · 14/05/2008 16:29

bloody hell - will count my lucky blessings for the momeht and let you know as soon as anything horrid happens down there

Jambers99 · 14/05/2008 16:34

It's my birthday today so have had a lovely day with DH & DS, going to the model village at Beckonscot (bit sad I know, but having a toddler does rather cramp your style...), and then pottering about in the garden.

There's no way I'm telling you how much I weigh! Suffice it to say it's about 2 stone more than I'd like, but I've only put on about 4 or 5 lbs with the pregnancy so far.

We're going on holiday to Dorset tomorrow for 10 days so I won't be around for a bit, but look forward to hearing all your news once I'm back. Good luck to everyone with scans in the next few days, hope it's all good news and look forward to finding out if you're expecting boys or girls!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/05/2008 17:01

Greetings,

Everyone seems full of the joys of spring which is nice. I braved the train to the local town today - am aware that I will struggle big time up and down all the steps in a couple of months - and dd still needs her buggy. It as all right when ds is at preschool (he is there all day 2 days a week) - but with the 2 of them and shopping it is a struggle - but I don't drive so don't have a choice. It is times like this that I miss London and convenient shopping.

So I had the bright idea of walking to pick up ds with dd in the back carrier - hoping that she would walk most of the way - but she wanted to stay in for much of the route (25min walk) and it nearly crippled me, my ankles/ shoulders hurt like hell!

I managed to carry her for the long stretch by the main road on the way back - but fortunately she walked the rest of the way. So I think the carrier is going back in the cupboard this summer - 'cept when dh uses it ! DD is too heavy...

Scan is booked for 9th June so looking forward to that - am still unsure if I want to know the sex. MIL wants a boy I think - the cheeky mare bought a load of blue baby clothes over so I almost want a girl just to annoy her!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/05/2008 17:03

Oh and Happy Birthday Jambers!

Sallypuss · 14/05/2008 17:19

Happy Birthday Jambers - we share the same birthday, having to work on mine and the sun's shining never mind, nearly home time...

Don't like this weight debate that's going on - haven't stepped near the scales much in the last 12 months anyway but during pregnancy, I'm even less inclined to go there. Very pleased that my bump is forming rather than just looking fat but nonetheless, I'm still going to give the scales a very wide berth....

All well here (if you don't count scaring myself witless about the effect on the LO of using some medicated corn plasters last night/this morning - don't ask). Now counting down the days to hols (14) and then to my '20 week' scan (32)

perkypopsy · 14/05/2008 17:20

BMSA my MIL also bought a blue and white suit as she thinks (wishes!!) will be a biy
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMBERS!!!!!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 14/05/2008 17:33

Perky - I am not the only one then - my MIL is a lovely woman - but dh is her only child and her 'Golden Child' my ds is also her fav I think and FIL dotes on dd. She really should kep her wishes for a boy to herself though as when we have the scan if we do find out the sex and it is a girl I will have at the back of her mind her preference - grr...

When I was pg with ds and we told her our choice for his name she said she didn't like it!! So she does have a history off putting her foot in it!

perkypopsy · 14/05/2008 18:04

oh my god we have the same MIL ...it is the golden (only) child thing i am sure of it!

sparklesandnowinefor5months · 14/05/2008 18:14

Happy Birthday Jambers! you had a more exciting day than i did yesterday for mine - i had a driving lesson then vaccumed out our car somethings wrong there i think Glad you had a good day!

I want to know the sex this time for some reason, i haven't with the others at all but i think its because we have 3 boys and DD (6) desperatly wants a sister, she cried when DS3 was born '...but i said i wanted a sister why did you have another boy! Whaaaaa' bless her she's a bit older now and understands, and does love her brothers but i think i'd like to know so i can break the news gently if we are having another boy - does that make sense?!

hedgepig · 14/05/2008 19:45

Happy birthday Jambers and Sallypuss hope you had lovely days and are bing spoilt rotten.

My LO is indefatigably moving but still cant see anything on the outside (too much padding in the way methinks!). Sparkles I did find out the sex last time but have decided not to for this one, I'm not quite sure why.

AandMsmum · 14/05/2008 19:46

Happy Birthday Jambers!

We're not finding out what we're having, I'd maybe like to have a little peak but I know I wouldn't be able to keep it a secret and DH doesn't want to know - it is a lovely surprise though and tbh I find I'm impatient enough as it is, knowing what we're having would just make it worse for me I think.

Bit of a personal question but how's everyones sex drive?

I so cannot be bothered with any bd and am feeling really bad for DH who is missing out, with my last pg I couldn't get enough of it and I think that poor old DH was expecting much of the same this time around! Any advice on how to deal with this as I feel it could become an issue, not that he would ever nag or make me feel bad, I could be making more of the issue than there actually is! It would be nice to know that other may be in the same situation and that I'm not just being a bit odd!
