Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

After your scan you can get one of those shirts with 'I'm nit chubby I'm pregnant' or something. I know exactly what you mean. Various people in the neighborhood are quite blatantly looking at my tummy before they look at me, and it's really frustrating.
Good for you re your scan, Pink I tried bringing my scan forward to last Wednesday, but they could only offer me 8:45! Mum would not have been pleased, she's not much of a morning person.

m4mb, I have a few little vests from M&S (you know the ones they sell in the uinderwear section) of various colours. I used them as bump bands last time, by just not putting the straps on, but tucking them in at the top; much cheaper than bump bands, re-useable after pregnancy and I could colour co-ordinate very well. I'll be doing the same this time, and have got a few old saggy vests and tees that are too short now I'm not a skinny rake that are going to be modified into bump bands!

Mad4... I am on tablets and also a lotion/gel from chemists. Did get it prescribed through doc but then foudn out it was cheaper to buy straight over the counter. Have you tried Panoxyl Acnegel (it's Benzoyl Peroxide) about £3.00 from chemist. they have to go to the actual prescription bit to get it but you can buy it direct. Comes in 2.5%, 5% and 10%. It is the basis of all these clearesil etc.. (sp) but this is it in it's pure form. It works by drying the area up and also taking down any swelling in a spot. I LOVE IT. I use it in conjunction with tablets. Start off on 2.5 but also buy a 10 for any naughty spots you may get to blob on. Use 2.5 all over BUT be warned it will dry your skin out but your skin does get used to it so eventually it sorts it self out. Let it dry adn then put moisturiser over the top (other than on a big spot with 10% on it). Honestly my consultant dermatologist told me to get it. I found zineryt didn't help me. Hope this helps. x

lacka, thats a great idea! I have a black and a white vest of the ones you are talking about, i'll try that later!

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 14:57

Top shop do bump bands for a fiver, in black or white? The vest thing is a good idea- they are great for breastfeeding too.

dozymare · 14/04/2008 15:00

someone please enlighten me/......what is a bump band??!!!

Pinkali37 · 14/04/2008 15:00

I have already some told people. I decided that if anything did happen that I would need peoples support. Plus having had 2 scans already I felt a little more confident HOWEVER i now feel a bit stupid because no pain no boob tenderness etc.. makes me think i'm not pregnant. So the earlier the next scan the better. At least it will make me think that everyone is differnt.

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 15:03

It's a tube of elasticated cloth that you put over your trousers and under your normal tops. The very expensive ones are also a bump support, but as I say, Top Shop do a cheapo version. The vest work pretty much as well as the band, though. The bands are really soft cloth too, which can be nice if you get itchy bump later on.

mad4mybaby · 14/04/2008 15:04

dozy, its like a boobtube you put round your middle to cover bump/waistband to enable you to wear normal clothes for longer or you can wear through pg for support.

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 15:06

I have gone by the same theory, Pink. I tell my parents, brother and sister and my close other-mummy friends, so I have a bit of a support network should things go awry. Last two I was working and had HG from 6 weeks so had to tell clients.

mad4mybaby · 14/04/2008 15:11

sorry pinkali, missed that post. What tablets are you on?

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 15:17

Mad, if you scroll down, you'll see.

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 15:24

Enrythromycin I think

mad4mybaby · 14/04/2008 15:27

i had a reaction to that. Have been on EVERYTHING gp and dermatologist can give (not roaccutane) skin is getting worse, hormones dont help and id say the fact i cant drink water at the mo not helping.

Just another thing to get me down and make me even more self consious!

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 15:55

Poor thing. Hormones play havoc with skin conditions, don't they. Can you suck ice cubes? May help your water intake?
I know what you mean about feeling self-conscious.I fell like I look grey-skinned and flabby. My self-confidence took a major blow when I had to stop working, and going to toddler groups can be quite daunting with some of the uber-mummies out there!

mad4mybaby · 14/04/2008 15:57

tell me about it! I dont go to any of them anyway, just stick to the people who knew me before crap skin!

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 16:06

I have given up on a lot of them. The women can be soo miserable. We just go to tumbletots, really, and DH takes them to rhythm and rhyme. We tend to have little meet ups at the museum etc. just a few of us.

lackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2008 16:11

bump bands

LolaBella · 14/04/2008 16:31

dozymare and Heartmum not i'm not worrying about not hearing heartbeat with doppler at this stage. I'v asked my dp to hide it away until next Sun so i can't get obsessed
Also, got my scan in 9 days so just hanging on till then. I really, really hope that i'm just a very lucky person who doesn't have many symptoms sounds like a few other ladies on here.

Pinkali37 · 14/04/2008 16:34

Lolabella - So how far are you and what are your lack of symptoms? (if that makes sense?)

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 16:39

My SIL felt the best she has ever felt in her life when she was pregnant.

Hi all,

Hope everyone has had a pleasant Monday - I always feel so relieved when Monday is over (usually it's not been as bad as I thought it would be!!)
Anyway, just wanted to let you know about a great discovery I made this weekend. Was out and about, running a few errands on Sunday, when I started coming over all faint - I was absolutely starving hungry, thought I would pass out if I didn't eat that minute, so I popped in to the nearest shop to get something - I just grabbed a packet of biscuits, paid, and stuffed down about 5 in 30 seconds!! They were delicious - it was those Cheddar biscuits (you can get Mini-cheddars in little packets too!). It fulfilled all my cravings - I have been craving savoury food, and also cheese, and this ticked both boxes!! Honestly girls, they were lovely, and perked me right up. Food is all I can think of at the moment, and am worried that I am starting to pile on the pounds, none of which are to do with baby!!

LolaBella · 14/04/2008 16:46

Pinkali i'm 11w today and symptoms stopped at 9W + 4. No MS since, no spotty skin, no cramps since 7 weeks, no food aversions, not particularly tired. Baps still a little sore so i'm hanging onto that :O
Actually i feel quite well - it's weird Are you the same?
