Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

betti, chances are you'll have lots of time to get there

I'm about 10mins drive in normal conditions, but nearer 45 in rush hour as we have to go through one of the busiest junctions in N Leeds to get there. We will be doing lots of alternative routes before hand to see if we can go round rather than through.

pinkyminky · 16/04/2008 18:04

Our hoospital is a bit of a drive, But Dh got us there very fast when my waters broke!I'm sure you'll be fine. Tell baby to come at night when there's no traffic!

Oblomov · 16/04/2008 18:37

Becasue Kings is an hour and a half drive away, I had a dream, last night, that, dh and I were driving there, and I told him he must stop, and I gave birth, by the side of the road, in a Bus stop !!

Oblomov · 16/04/2008 18:44

So, you know how people name their babies after where they were conceived, shall I name ours after where she (?) was born
Bus-stop-ina ?

lackaDAISYcal · 16/04/2008 18:54

lol oblomov. dreams are so odd when you are pregnant. When I was pregnant with DD I kept dreaming that I'd given birth to a cat......the colour changed regularly, and where I gave birth (in one dream in the living room of the house I grew up in) but the recurrent theme was cat. I was starting to worry they were sooo vivid!

tegan · 16/04/2008 18:59

my dreams have been mad too and really vivid.

I have even had to explain to dh why i have beem saying my ex's names in my sleep.
Apparently i have been reciting them over and over most mornings when dh has been getting in to bed.

Betti - my first labour was 2 and half hrs. I convinced myself that baby would be born in car outside King's Cross Station London and that was no way would get to hospital on time. So I felt I had to go for a home birth out of necessity. 2nd labour was similar but slower and calmer - 6hrs. I think 2 reasons, baby no 2 was bigger 9lb 1 oz as opposed to 7lb 15 and was not quite in optimum position so I had to work harder to deliver him. Also as soon as labour started I got down on all fours with my bum in the air (not attractive) but it worked in slowing things down. I stayed like that for as long as I could.

You have the benefit of knowing you have previously delivered quickly but it may not be exactly the same next time and if it is you will be prepared for it.

pinkyminky · 16/04/2008 19:43

I keep having this dream about baby being a chicken. It's a bit gross really, the baby is pushing against my tummy and I can see its chicken feet.
My cousin gave birth in a taxi with her first- perhaps she could have called him Joe!'

Evening all

Booking-in appointment went well - was with a mw that I saw quite a bit through my last pregnancy. Only downside was that I have to have a glucose tolerance test at about 28 weeks because my mum is diabetic - can't say I am looking forward to that.

Also got my scan date - 15 May - will add it to the other thread. Can I just say this long wait is killing me - because of bleeding with DS, I had an early scan at about 6 weeks so it wasn't too bad but I hadn't realised how hard it was to go 12 weeks without any reassurance whatsoever!

pinkyminky · 16/04/2008 20:04

Ceebie- they wanted me to have that test,as my dad has diabetes- it takes over two hours! I hope the letter for that appointment gets lost in the post!

pinkyminky · 16/04/2008 20:06

OMG renaissance, you should definitely stay at home- bumpy car rides would not help you situation!

Heartmum2Jamie · 16/04/2008 20:21

My nearest hospital (I am almost the exact same distance from 4 hospitals, lol!) is a good 20-25 minutes away, with a lovely drive over Cannock Chase. At least if things progress faster than I thought they would, I can get dh to pull over and I can give birth behind a bush in the forest, hopefully in the area directly across the road from the tea shop....pmsl!!

I'm glad the booking in went well ceebee, ick to the GTT though. I had one with ds1 because I measured HUGE, I felt very, very ill after fasting for all that time.

pinky minky - my DH prides himself on his contribution to my first labour = driving very slowly over the hundred or so speed bumps between our house and hospital whilst I on all fours on back seat screaming like a banshee. When we arrived at hospital he didn't do so well yelling at me down the stairs "what are you doing" as I hung onto a radiator on a half landing screaming like a banshee

Renaissancewoman · 16/04/2008 20:37

i should add, I'm not usually given to screaming like a banshee especially in public but I was 25 minutes away from birth!

Emmanj · 16/04/2008 20:50

Evening all! just took me so long to read the thread as havent been on since Mon! You guys are busy on here during the days!

My symptoms too seem to be levelling off, much like some of the others i have read. i feel reassured to know others have the same.

ceebie and pinky i was also told i have to have teh diabetes tes but i hadnt realsie it took so long, 2 hours you say???

Hope ur all well, im off to watch the Apprentice x

Emmanj · 16/04/2008 20:51

god my spelling is bad, its the laptop keyboard!

lackaDAISYcal · 16/04/2008 20:56

lol pinky at Joe le Taxi ....you're definately showing your age though lovely

My cat dreams were vivid like that; I couldn't BF cos it kept biting (an omen obviously as DD is a bit of a biter!) and all the HCPs and my sister and mum and DH were annoyed with me for "not trying hard enough" even though my nips were raw and bleeding.....yikes! the giving birth one involved lot of pulling to get the placenta out which then sprung elastically across the room and smacked my sister in the face. Sorry, way way way tmi, but looking back they're quite funny

On that, sick, note, I'll love you all and leave you. am feeling v v hormonal this evening and have been crying at traffic cops! DD is poorly as well so it;s been a bit of a day (and night last night)

pinkyminky · 16/04/2008 21:05

I jusr popped out for some snacks- spot the pregnant lady in the supermarket- two multipacks of mini cheddars(on bogof), large box laughing cow triangles, loaf bread and a soreen. Yum. Night night ladies.

dozymare · 17/04/2008 07:40

Morning lovely ladies! Hope you are all well! I have had a manic week which has been great as has stopped me thinking to much about being pregnant!! Went to a friends in Kent on Tuesday via Bluewater for a maternity shop...I really couldn't believe the cost of some things - £30 a t shirt in topshop!! Anyway, had both DC with me and was a nightmare...couldn't try a thing on!! Ended up splurge buying in Gap but actaully now hate what I bought! (Bright pink mini dress/t shirt anyone??!!) Am going to have to do the retun trip sans kids.....

Anyway, have been trying to keep away from the thread for a while to see if it makes the PG go any faster.......like the Drswife, I think it does!! SO until I get to the magic scan in May I shall try not to post everyday.....

Take care Ladies!!

Slight spotting last night & this morning, ds also appears to have chicken pox. Have phoned EPAU and am awaiting their response. DS at GP's at 11. DH having the rest of week off to look after me.

Purlease · 17/04/2008 09:11

Got home from work last night to find a letter saying I have a scan today - it had originally been sent to my old address. Missed my booking in appointment on Tuesday so doing things a bit backwards. Have had a bit of bleeding the last few days which has me slightly concerned - just want to see a healthy little baby today to put my mind at rest. With such short notice unfortunately DH can't come along to hold my hand so need you all to cross your fingers for me!

bubbaz · 17/04/2008 09:12

Oh mummyhill sounds like you have got it all going on today. Hope eberything is OK and DS isn't too poorly.

bubbaz · 17/04/2008 09:13

Purlease good luck for today i'll keep my fingers crossed. Let us know how you get on.

lackaDAISYcal · 17/04/2008 09:17

was just going to lurk today, but I had to post and say hugs to you mummyhill; I hope all is OK and good luck for the scan purlease. We'll all be with you in spirit
