Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

OP posts:

HE HE hope DH doesn't see this thread, it'll get his hopes up.

Heartmum, I can find out about local incentives, not all councils run them though. Many involve a doctor, midwife or health visitor signing to say that they have seen the child in cloth nappies.

I find that it is 1 extra wash every 2 days which is nothing when you have children. I use terry squares as well as the nice new shaped ones. I do have personal favorites but will always look at which system would be best for each family on an individual basis. You only need about 30 between birth and potty but many of us tend to buy more iyswim.

We ued cloth with DS after he turned 3 months as I was finding he was getting really bad nappy rash in disposable, this cleared up a treat when we converted to cloth.

Daisy - You are promoting Flame cause she is a lovely person who is very knowledgeable. She is my main stockist for my advice service, if people want me to order nappies for them. Otherwise I just give them the benefit of my experiences with cloth and let them source their own.

ceebee74 · 16/04/2008 09:07

Morning all - wow, I go away for one day and there are 4 pages of messages to read!

Re drinking - I had 1 glass of wine most weeks with DS and will probably do the same this time round - but not at the moment as the thought of it makes me want to puke atm. Am also not being quite as cautious about food this time round although I do miss my rare steaks and stilton sauce

Re sex - another one here who is still doing it although not very often at the moment as I just don't have the energy/inclination! Poor DH has gone from me jumping on him every other night whilst TTC to maybe once a week if he is lucky

Pinkali - I was still in my normal work clothes at 20-weeks with DS (my first) so I wouldn't worry about not showing. Very much doubt I will be that lucky this time round

Had a look at Dorothy Perkins yesterday and they have some lovely maternity wear aswell - again, I think you have to go to the bigger stores to get the full range.

Got my booking-in appointment this morning - can't wait as it will make this whole pg seem real I guess

MS seems to be easing slightly - am only 8 weeks though so I thought it was going to get worse before getting better - has this happened to anyone else?

Hi to everyone else

x

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 09:14

Morning All,

Think Bum Genius give free samples...

Anyway, anyone is Lincolnshire???? Lincoln way?

Woke up this morning and... still don't feel pregnant. Food adversions are still here but that's it. Blue veins still here too. Hoping it is hormones settling down. MW appointment on Monday and dating scan a week today. 10 Weeks tomorrow. YIPPEE... Just hope everything is ok.

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 09:16

Ceebee.. all my symptoms started disappearing at 8 weeks and that was what worried me. Sorry let me get that right, the MW worried me after I told her BUT had scan at 8 + 4 and all was fine. Do your boobs still hurt?

ceebee74 · 16/04/2008 09:18

Pinkali - no my boobs aren't sore but they have not really been sore anyway (they weren't with DS either).

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 09:24

Ceebee oh I am pleased i'm normal. Some people on here have said the same so it makes me feel better. Think it's a reassurance thing. I woke up this morning and totally forgot I was pregnant. Do not feel it in the slightest, very strange!

lackaDAISYcal · 16/04/2008 09:41

mummyhill, do you just provide an advisory service then? I'm not sure what form I want my services to take, either advisory or stockist as well. Would you mind talking to me off board about it? (so we don't clog up the thread!). My email is daisybump at yahoo dot co dot uk or you can CAT me.
Flame gave me loads of advice when I was first starting out with cloth; she is indeed a lovely lovely lady

and agree that once you start out on cloth....you can always find room for just one more nappy. My DH despairs at me

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 11:45

Just checking my computer hasn't stuck. No movement for ages.... My god I obviously need more work to do!

mum2becks · 16/04/2008 13:02

Hi everyone, dont post very often as I started doing early on but it seemed to be taking so long to get past those first few weeks of being pregnant that I decided to try and keep my mind occupied with other things! I do try and read through the thread each week though otherwise I would never keep up!!!!!!! Also we had our house on the market so was spending a lot of time cleaning, doing viewings etc but it has sold now...Yippeeeee

Well I am feeling loads better, the nausea and permanent hangover feeling have gone, and am getting closer to the 12 week point (11+1 today) but dont have my scan for another 9 days which seems so far away still!

I am still just about wearing my normal clothes (although my bigger sized ones that I bought after having dd) but I did buy a Bump Band at the weekend from Topshop and it fits quite well already so would definately recommend as only a fiver and they do them in black or white so go with most things

I never tried cloth nappies with dd always used disposables, I know very lazy of me but may give them a try this time round as it seems like a few of you really like them and also like the idea that they are cheaper in the long run!

Sorry such a long post but a lot to say as havent posted for so long.....

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 13:07

Bl**dy preg hormones... just went to local supermarket and decided to place purse in with the onions! Got a tannoy to ask if anyone had miss placed their purse. I looked at my hands and thought OOPS . Much easier to explain if i'd dropped it. HEE HEE

mum2becks · 16/04/2008 13:17

Dont worry pinkali37 I did something similar the other day, nipped out to shop and called at petrol station on the way, put the petrol in and went in to pay ..... then realised I had left my purse at home!!!!!!!!!!!

Felt very stupid having to explain that I couldnt pay and could I go home to get my purse first

Purlease · 16/04/2008 13:22

Discovered this morning my booking in appointment was yesterday - letter sent to my old address. it is now rescheduled for next wednesday (11 weeks).

I had a bit of spotting yesterday which started getting me worried - just want to see the scan and get some reassurance.

Absolutley no symptoms at the moment but then I was worried with DD when I went for first scan that there would be nothing there.

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 13:28

Purlease - Do your boobs not hurt either?

Purlease · 16/04/2008 13:31

No - they did early on which is why I did the test. They've been fine in the last few weeks. This was the thing I remembered most last time as well as being constantly tired.

With DD, I discovered pregnancy after flying back to UK from Australia so some of the tiredness could have been jet lag although it was a very long jet lag!

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 13:42

Mine also stopped a couple of weeks ago, although still feel tired and feel a bit funny about some foods. Just forced veg soup down my neck as I am just not interested in veg at the moment.

Purlease · 16/04/2008 13:46

Nothing has ever put me off my food except labour!

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 13:51

Yes strangely enough I think i would be put off by that!

Do you feel pregnant? I just don't other than a bit of a strange feelign with some foods. Stomach feels normal too.

Purlease · 16/04/2008 14:07

Actually thought about buying another pregnancy test yesterday as when I had the spotting I thought maybe I'm not pregnant and my period is about to start...

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 14:10

It's strange isn't it. I really don't feel pregnant. I hav my dating scan next wed and feel really worried.

pinkyminky · 16/04/2008 14:16

Hi all, just wanted to say that I had my scan this morning and baby was asleep with it's hand on its face so could well be another thumb sucker! I am 11+3 which makes my due date 3 November, and most probably a valentine's day baby!
Saw the new consultant and he said he would be prepared to let me try a VBAC if I wanted, which is all very exciting.
Hope everyone is ok, and that you feel pregnant soon, Pinkali! There are plenty of people who feel absolutely normal all the way through. It's about a 50/50 split.Only 10% of people get the really bad sickness- so you are doing fine, I'm sure. x

cricri · 16/04/2008 14:23

That's great news Pinkyminky There are three of us currently due on 3 November so you're the fourth. Although I suspect my EDD may be adjusted at my scan next week.
Good news about the VBAC too. I'm trying very hard not to think about that aspect of things at the moment, being a first-timer and all that
Nothing to report here apart from feeling exhausted today. I was in London for work all day yesterday and it wore me out! I'm so glad to be working from home these days so I can put my feet up when I need to. Had a 1-hour nap this morning
Hope everybody else is OK. Glad to hear the ms seems to be receding.

lackaDAISYcal · 16/04/2008 14:32

pinky, great news on the scan, and how sweet . I'm hoping for a VBA2C, so we can be VBAC buddies . I have loads of information I've gleaned from here and other places and there is a VBAC support thread somewhere. I'll dig out the link for you if you haven't found it already. A book I ordered has just arrived today so I have lots of reading to do before I see the consultant on Monday.

I think I'm feeling first flutterings already . I thought I felt something last night and it's happened again a few times this morning....either that or just wind . I didn't feel DS till 18-20 weeks and DD was about 15 or 16 iirc, so this seems horribly early. Does it get easier to feel/spot with each subsequent pregnancy?

lackaDAISYcal · 16/04/2008 14:34

LOL, whilst I typed that DD has disappeared into the kitchen and is sitting helpng herself to tomatoes from the veg box that was delivered earlier and I haven't put away yet.....better than milky bar mini eggs I suppose!

Pinkali37 · 16/04/2008 14:39

Pinky - What lovely news! xxx
