Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

I am supposed to travel up to Kings tomorrow to the diabetic clinic, and also for a scan, was hoping to reassure myself that things are still o.k. Like you, I have little symptoms. Tiny bit of naseau. But ds has been so ill.
All last week, I was praying for tuesday, so I could be scanned again.

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 20:27

Hi Mad4- I think you have me mixed up with Pinkali, she's listed a really good lot of suggestions further down this thread, earlier today, and I was going to try some as my skin is not looking good at the mo(I wast trying to point you to what she'd put, which is prolly why you got us mixed, sorry!). She does say about buying stuff being cheaper than on prescription, but of course prescriptions are free for us all now, so it might be a trip to the GP?

Re Bump cream - it can be really nice. I have no idea of it reduces stretch marks, but it's lovely, and it could work as I don't have any. A friend bought me a load of lovely stuff from boots, neruli (sp) oil ?
I don't know if they still do it. Most normal massage oils etc are not recommended for pregnancy- you have to be careful with essential oils.

mad4mybaby · 14/04/2008 20:30

oh sorry pinky!!

So...pinkali... you there?!

Oblomov · 14/04/2008 20:36

AND I bought some maternity trousers.
On the old thread, someone said, don't put it off, submit, you will be so comfy.
So we went to the outlet village, at my lovely mil's and they had a next, maternity. Work trousers reduced form £49.99, to £5.62
BARGAIN

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 20:38

No worries, Mad4

Good luck for tomorrow Oblomov. Sorry to hear your DS is poorly. Dozy you have it absolutely right- there is nothing we can do, really and it is very frustrating.

Has anyone got as far as planning a song for their baby? Studies have shown that if you sing a particular song to your unborn baby, it remembers it and finds it very soothing when they are born. I know ours are tiny and just look like little mekon but I really liked singing to my bump.

Oblomov · 14/04/2008 20:39

Pinky, that reminds me:
Must buy some Bio Oil.

mad4mybaby · 14/04/2008 20:40

hmm pinky. With ds everyday id have a rest and lay down for half hour to chill out listening to il divo on cd. It relaxed me loads and even now ds @ 22 months, if i want to calm him down or to sleep in the car i put it on! Dont think ill have the chance to do same thing this time round! It'll have to get use to theme tune to thomas the tank!

Heartmum2Jamie · 14/04/2008 20:41

Lolabella, I am also 11 weeks and feel pretty great actually (sorry to all the ladies suffering). I never get bad symptoms anyway, but you are right, it is very strange to feel "normal" This pregnancy so far is different to my other 3 in that my bobbs have not been even a fraction as sore and I can't really say I have felt tired or the need to pee more (except once at night, grr!) If it wasn't for the fact that I have heard the heartbeat, and the changes in my boobs, I would doubt I was pregnant.

Well done for not getting hung up about not hearing the heartbeat. I think you have done the right thing putting it away. I decided to listen today for the first time in days and it took AGES, Piggle (don't ask!) was giving me a right run around. It was actually amusing to hear the HB for just a few seconds and then lose it again. I got the hint and put the doppler . Scan is on the 24th, I absolutely can not wait!

DM x

Oblomov · 14/04/2008 20:52

Dozy, this is just a small one, nr Clacton, nr Colchester Essex.
Bluewater is nearest for you/us, or Swindon or Bicester.

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 20:52

I have both mine at home too, and I'm not sure if DD just got used to the things I used to sing to DS. You only have to do it a couple of times a day. I saw it on that amazing programme channel 4 did showing the complete 9 months in the womb using 3d scans. It will have been 3 years ago as I was pg with DS at the time. I just sang hey diddle diddle to my bumps whilst in the bath and I really do think it's true. (Not that the cow really did jump over the moon, I mean that my babies respond to it differently than to other songs)

BiO Oil-not tried that, makes me think of bio-fuel or plant food. Does it smell nice?

ceebee74 · 14/04/2008 20:54

Mad4 - my beanie will be exactly the same - Thomas theme tune all the way here too

Have just done a massive order to Next for maternity wear - whenever I go to outlet villages, I never seem to find anything good or that fits Have mainly ordered trousers as I know what I had last time won't fit but I am kind of hoping the tops will.

Oblomov · 14/04/2008 20:56

Pinky, Bio Oil is just an oil, not strong smelling. VERY EXPENSIVE. It is recommended , for scars aswell, i.e for people who have had a bad accident and are badly scared, whether that scar is a week old or 10 years old, they say it will reduce. So it has to be decent, no ?
I beleive everything I read, you know !!
It is well thought of.
I used it last time.

lackaDAISYcal · 14/04/2008 20:56

I read some where that no amount of lotions and potions will prevent stretchmarks, and that it's just your skin type, but I got loads with DS and didn't use creams. I used bio oil all they way through with DD and didn't get any more (and I was much bigger with her before pregnancy than I was with DS, so stretched the skin further). My existing stretch marks seem more improved as well.

and even if it doesn't do anything for stretch marks, it's nice to pamper yourself with luxury creams for a few months

Off for my mint and chilli herbal tea that I bought today (ah the foibles of the pregnant woman) and to watch Waking the Dead.

Have the rest of a good evening

daisy xx

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 20:56

DS an I were dancing to Thomas this afternoon

mad4mybaby · 14/04/2008 20:58

ceebee, never thought id turn out to be an experts on trains! Hes soooo obsessed with them!

What about the ashford outlet dozymare? Not sure if there are any maternity shops there you could ring or check online. Retty sure theres a big next there. Mind you at bluewater you have blooming marvellous, next, h&M, mothercare and whatever ranges there are in john lewis and house of fraser..

Oblomov · 14/04/2008 20:58

I need an entirely new maternity wardrobe. Nothing I had last time, willl even go round my ... ankles. I am bigger than I was before. ALOT. And I lost all my pregnancy weight quickish. But have put on lots in the last year, for no real reason.
I need new EVERYTHING.

pinkyminky · 14/04/2008 20:59

Thanks for that- I'll look it up.
Abd thanks fotthe remider, Daisy- Waking The Dead!

Oblomov · 14/04/2008 20:59

I agree with Dozy. It depends on your skin type as to whether you get stretch marks and no amount of cream will help. But I did use bio last time, and I have none, so plan to this time.

Heartmum2Jamie · 14/04/2008 21:00

I don't think bio oil or anything else is going to help me now, lol! I look like crepe paper after my boys. I'm 5ft 1 and ds1 was 8lb 1 with LOTS of fluid (they told me at a scan at 39 weeks he was going to be 10lb ) and ds was 7lb 13 oz.

I do like using creams on my bump in pregnancy though, it keep the skin feeling nice and keeps the itching of expanding skin at bay.

Night Oblomov, I hope your ds is feeling better tomorrow.

Night night Oblomov
Agree there, Heartmum. I liked the way the neroli oil butter was really cool- it stopped my bump itching so much. I agree about skin types, too. I don't really go for beauty treatments as a rule and I have NO faith in homeopathy other than the placebo effect, I'm afraid.(Come from a family of scientists).

mummyhill · 14/04/2008 21:30

Got two lovely tops from H&M yesterday and will be going back there when I have a bit more money for a few more bits and pieces.

Scan date has finally come through I have to wait till 25th May when I will be 14 +2.
