debinaustria · 14/04/2008 16:30

Thanks Needahand - it is beautiful here but a bit lonely too.

Ernest - yes that's the fit thing I meant, definitely will be on the look out for one of those after the birth - well not straight away obviously!!

Rolf - hope the placenta has moved tomorrow

Greenfairy - lol at your pregnancy brain

goingfor3 · 14/04/2008 16:31

Rolf good luck wth the scan, fingers crossed your placenta has moved and you can have the birth you want.

WiiFit!!!!! I saw it being advertised in a local games shop whoch said it would be £69.99 on release, I thought it was a bit steep but dp said it would be worth it to make me nice and trim!!!! I beat him at Mario Kart wii that night so I got my own back!!

LauraT · 14/04/2008 16:47

wow, you've all been busy!

we had a lovely weekend with BIL SIL and their DD (22 months) who we babysat for while her parents were at a wedding on saturday - she is such a good child, hoping against hope that ours gets the same behavious genes from her dad' side of the family!

we also managed to order cotbed this weekend so starting to feel more prepared... and we went to an NCT nearly new sale - eye opening! didn't buy much, but might go to the next one they have locally now we are armed with a bit of prior knowledge of what to expect!

it's been a lovely day here, so glad I'm on anual leave!

needahand · 14/04/2008 16:54

GF 1st of May is my last day too!

Parofleurmapu · 14/04/2008 17:08

Hello

Ernest its me who just got the wii and i hope that game comes out here in time for afterwards looks like just the thing i need to get down to size 8 !!!!! (yeah right like thats gonna happen, Never been 8 in my life!!!!)

Question all day today ive been feeling sharp stabs down near bladder region and really heavy Is it baby moving into position. I like it when she kicks but not these as am really uncomfortable!

whinegums · 14/04/2008 17:45

Hi ladies, I'm just back from the worst antenatal class in the world, and I'm fuming!!!! LauraT, not only was there no Keith Chegwin, it was a total and utter waste of time, with a not very nice mw leading it. If my dreadful luck means that I end up with her when I go into labour, I'm going straight back home (or giving birth in the hospital carpark, rather than let that stupid bitch anywhere near me).

It took her 20 mins to start it, and then she spent most of the time out of the room looking for stuff she didn't have set up already. I told her my name, and then had to spell it 3 times, and the stupid cow still couldn't get it right - it's not even that unusual or difficult!

Basically the only thing she did was tell us when we should call the hospital - which is hardly news to anyone - handed out a few information sheets, which I'd already had anyway, and signed us up for bf workshops. She put me down for one on the May bank holiday, when I pointed that out, she was really snippy. What a waste of time!!!! And then she finished the class after less than an hour - it was supposed to last 2! Absolutely useless - am really cross! I am dreading having to go to hospital to have this baby!!!

Oh boy, I needed that rant!

Hope everyone is doing ok today.

debinaustria · 14/04/2008 18:32

Paro - sounds like it could be Fleur moving down!! I've been getting some of those movements too.I feel really uncomfy tonight.

debinaustria · 14/04/2008 18:33

Sorry you had such a crap meeting Whinegums, chances of you getting that particular midwife must be quite slim.

bitofadramaqueen · 14/04/2008 18:37

whinegums that is rubbish! Are you doing NCT classes too? If not, I'll try and remember to post anything useful from mine.

Am testing out yet another pair of jeans (I will find some that fit before the baby is born). Will let you know how it goes .

thegreenfairy · 14/04/2008 18:55

Whinegums, that is bloody awful. What a waste of your time!

Paro - that sounds like moving down to me. I had it a couple of weeks ago and MW said it could be the head slipping in and out of being engaged.

Needahand - are you working normal days til you leave? Am doing four day weeks so have got 11 days left as of this evening. Wooo!

Rolf - good luck for the scan. Will keep fingers crossed for you.

Rolf · 14/04/2008 18:57

Whinegums - what a hopeless class. Maybe they give this awful midwife the classes to keep her away from labouring women?

I wonder how many of us, when off our trolleys on gas & air, will start yelling for Keith Chegwin?

Paro - I've been getting some kicks like that. They're really uncomfortable aren't they? I guess anything happening near the exit has got to be a good thing?

thegreenfairy · 14/04/2008 18:58

PS. Small rant. My landlord has asked me to make sure that 'the flat is clear of stuff' when we move out next week 'because he had to get a skip to clear out after the last guy'!!!

Considering that I have repainted the entire flat, sorted out his wiring, came to the rescue when the flat he owns downstairs flooded (including HOURS of mopping and cleaning up) and have got DIY done on the house out of my own pocket and then claimed it back from him I don't understand why he thinks I'm suddenly going to turn into a slacker come moving out day?!

Aaaaaaarg. Am quite insulted.

makecakesnotwar · 14/04/2008 19:31

GF- you should be insulted. What a twat (I know, very rude word, but some people really deserve it!)

Ernest- cake sounds awesome. May even cook it myself for no good reason!

Whinegums- sorry your class was so crap. Had a similar experience myself and it really pissed me off too.

Finally back from hospital. Got there at 2.30 for 2.45 appt. MW took me off to check BP and asked me for a sample. Crippled with pain today (think baby cakes may be doing unspeakable thigs to my nether regions) so she needed to help me get on the loo (the indignity!) and ended up blubbing for about ten mins. Anyway, she sent me back to waiting room and, foolishly thinking my appt wouldn't be long, I chose to stand, rather than lower myself ito what they laughably call comfy chairs (they have armrests- apparently that is why they are comfy!) and then have to get out again, all of which causes a lot of pain. Eventually after 45 mins senior midwife insisted I was seen immediately by registrar. Who just sat there and told me that he knew it was tough but just think what I would gain in the next 7 - 10 weeks. What would he know about pelvic pain???

So I burst into tears again and long story short when I finally left the hospital at 5.15pm I had been booked in for an induction. On May 15th.

That's only four weeks. Eek.

bitofadramaqueen · 14/04/2008 19:39

Eek makecakes!

sophiewd · 14/04/2008 19:59

Bloody hell makecakes!!!!!!

That's quick, please be careful

alipalli · 14/04/2008 20:03

Hello,

I only found you all a couple of weeks ago, but have really enjoyed reading your posts although have been feeling like a bit of a voyeur.

I am shy about introducing myself so late in proceedings, but the discussion about Wii Fitness reminded me of this article that appreared in the Times a few weeks ago. Dh has already told me that it will be my birthday present (23 May). Lucky me!

Anyway, some stats about me. I am 30, and this is my first baby. EDD 1st June, although the mw and sonographer seem to have a difference of opinion on this . Don't know the sex. Still at work, but finishing on 30 April and cannot wait.

bitofadramaqueen · 14/04/2008 20:08

Hello alipalli - never too late to join in!

How's your pregnancy going - ok?

tassisssss · 14/04/2008 20:10

Hi all! Can I jump in (again!) and say hello! I'll try and keep up this time, you guys talk so fast!

I can't believe we're all into the home stretch, though I do suddenly feel very very pregnant. Makecakes, so sorry to hear ahout your pelvis pain, I have a bit of that myself and it's truly grim.

ANyone else got a toddler on their hands to deal with? My wee one is almost 19 months and fairly full on. It's so hard to know how best to prepare her for the arrival of number 3.

Anyway, look forward to chatting some more...

goingfor3 · 14/04/2008 20:35

makescakes, only four weeks away!!!! That seems so close!!

thegreenfairy · 14/04/2008 21:09

makescakes you poor woman - well done for fighting your corner - 4 weeks does seem v close but it sounds like it's what you need.

welcome to the new ladies. it is indeed, never too late to join! hope you're both feeling well.

baby still got her heel firmly in my ribs, but i guess it's no biggy when I look at the wider picture!

libralady · 14/04/2008 21:12

Evening all, hope everyone is keepin as well as they can be.
Had MW appointment today and she put my mind at rest about my size. I've been having various comments about how small I am, am I sure the baby was growing alright (from MIL) and when she measure me I am spot on for my dates (29 weeks tomorrow). I still weigh 4lb less than when I started this preganncy though!!!! MW was not worried, she says's I am really neat. BP fine, back fine, just mentioned the craps I've been getting and she's recommended tonic water (without the gin though), turkey, leafy green vegetables and of course bananas. Something to to with magnesium.
I really am beginning to think if I have a few more children I may get down to a size 8. Before DS I was a generous 18-20 and after he was born I was a 16. Now I am a 14 (although my pregnancy clothes are hanging on me I have to keep hitching them up and I can still fit into some pre-pregnancy clothes, although these do get uncomfortable after lunch. I hoping after this LO is born I may even be a 12.
I was a bit worried that all my movements seem to be below my belly button, despite my obvious bump above, but MW thinks baby is breach and as the leg muscles are stronger, this is why I'm only feeling the movements down below.
Seeing her again in 2 weeks to get my certificate to fly. Can't wait for my holiday.
Had a fab time at the weekend for DS's birthday treat. He was made over with his outing to Paulton's Park. Even managed to have three rides myself, albeit on the tractors and the small viking ships with the children. Weather was reasonable, but I am so tired now. Might even head off to bed in a mo.
Tale care LL
P.S. My reset button still isn't working. If I press it it goes back to Saturday. Is anyone else having a problem with it? I like to reset so I can easily find where I got up to previously iyswim.

PregnantPenguin · 14/04/2008 21:16

Wow makecakes!!! 4 weeks...are you ok with that?

I've been having the bladder thing too Paro. Like you I had been enjoying the movements but the recent painful ones aren't much fun.

Has anyone else started watching their belly? I can now waste so much time pulling my top up and just watching the bump to see the movements. They look so alien and make me laugh every time. Just me, oh well! I recommend it anyway.

Last night indigestion so bad, actually thought I was going to be sick. Not keen on trying to sleep upright again either - sore back. I will check other threads, but are there are suggestions of something to eat or drink before I go to bed that might held (other than a pint of gaviscon obviously)?

Dramaqueen - Are you planning on having more than little one? I can see you finding your jeans by number 4... ! Forget jeans, I've sucumbed to the maternity yoga pants/track suit bottoms in the comfort of my own home. Absolute bliss. I recommend dotty p's.

Whinegums - Sorry about your MW. I've actually found only one I like at mine.

Hello Alipalli and Tassissss! Welcome to the Keith Cheggers / Creme Eggs lovers thread. Where are you based?

Busy day today - interviewing candidates for my replacement. Do I go for the one that will do an excellent job? Or the one that will make my life the easiest when/if I go back? Decisions, morals, decisions.... [hmmm]

OP posts:
poppy34 · 14/04/2008 21:19

hi allipalli and welcome -thanks for link -we've got wii fit on order so looking forward to being able to move to use it.

Paris well and truly into kicking my ribs and shoving her foot under my ribs.. not sure if this is sign of her moving around or

makecakes - good for you for standing up for yourself (although re fact you had to cry to do that)... v.jealous

Greenfairy.. am with you on preg brain - had conversation with someone who clearly knew me and I knew her name/face today but couldnt remember who she was. I'm sure it didn't look in any way obvious....

Am finding names/what I was doing harder to remember so have to write everything down (which means I'm turning into my mother ) and don't stop work til the second bank holiday weekend in may

poppy34 · 14/04/2008 21:22

god just reread my message.. preg brain -forgot to say to dramaqueen found gap over bump jeans quite good - they seem to be right mix re comfy and ok to look at although agree with pregnant penguin that yoga pants are becoming very appealing.

katyjo · 14/04/2008 21:22

Oh my god Makecakes you made me cry! I can't believe your baby will be here so soon. Sorry you are in so much pain, but at least you know the end date now. I was induced with ds (waters broke but no contractions) and I had a really good experience, so I'm sure it will be the same for you (I was 38 weeks too!).

needahand the labour suites where I gave birth are horrible too, but a friend of mine switched to the lovely new hospital for her second and didn't like it at all. I think all maternity hospitals are short staffed, but the staff the do have are usually really good(your mw excepted whinegums).

whinegums sorry your mw was rubbish maybe she was just filling in for someone, in my hospital the mw in the clinic and running classes etc don't actually work in labour suite, so hopefully you won't have her delivering your baby.

Ktpie feeling much better, don't feel guilty for taking the day off, you deserve it.

Welcome alipalli always nice to have someone new on the thread.

Good to hear from you tassisssss there are a few of us on here with toddlers, my ds is 24 months and he is a wee gem but I am starting to find it really hard to keep up with him and really guilty that I am not able to do all the things I usually do. How are you coping?
