Pleased to be able to start the new thread with our birth announcement!

Samuel arrived at 1923 on thursday 20th March, weighing in at 4lb 10oz! After a fraught day of trying to find a hospital with a NNU with a cot (our hospital NNU was closed just as we were about to go to theatre), we finally ended up at Epsom General!

Sam is still in NNU but should be coming off his last little bit of oxygen this evening, is off CPAP, and having a go at bf'ing whenever he can (he's being fed by a tube).

I'm home and feeling a whole lot better than I did last time around, although very sore - TAKE THE PAINKILLERS THEY OFFER!!!!!

Jacob not sure about the new arrival although is smitten with his new scooter

will catch up with posts later but thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and good wishes over the last few days

goodcatholicgirl · 28/03/2008 18:50

Hi again,

Just wanted to say that I am thinking of all of you poor girlies who are suffering with depression and dark thoughts, at least there are a few of you on here who understand and can talk to each other. There is such a thing as ante-natal depression I believe??? (i.e. depression during pregnancy). I don't really have any words od advice as it's not an area I have any experience in, but thinking of you all, it must be very tough. I get a bit low sometimes, due to feeling tired, and heavy and uncomfortable etc, so I can't imagine how you must be feeling. Please take care all of you.

Congratulations on baby Sophie Indiechick!

otter1980 · 28/03/2008 20:33

wow congratulations indiechick, good to hear that all is going well with sophie and shes a good size. However am now slightly worried that i havent packed my bag yet and have been told that I have a big bump as a result of the gestational diabeties (plus too much sodding fluid...)

sweetbean - I cant say i know how you feel but big hugs and i hope you feel better soon

babylove21 - aw honey you seem to have gone through the mill a bit this last few days - big hugs. Sometimes men seem to think this pregnancy lark is a walk in the park... Im sure he is up for a thoughtless git of the month award... oooo dont get me started on doctors receptionists... theres one at my doctors who has alwasy been downright horrible to me... treating me like a naughty schoolgirl when i go in. she stopped that when i went in with my older friend to pick up a repeat prescription who happened to mention my OH in passing... suddenly she now approved, patronising cow....

azadhui - Smear when pregnant in front of your LO? some people.. grrrrr...

I cant believe how tired Ive become since starting mat leave... not sure if its just the diabeties & polyhydramnios but i could sleep for england i popped into leeds today on the train (15 minute journey) was in for an hour (OH b'day coming up) and was so exausted when i got back i havent moved hardly since.. also last night a huge row ensued at half 3 in the morning, re OH taking too much space in the bed, trying to cuddle me (in my mind crowding me) and generally p*ssing me off... he did deal with it very well by going to the spare room and being very very nice to me (even though i was actually evil) he was actually reassuring me... bad bad otter...

podglet · 28/03/2008 20:55

Hi all,

Indiechick - wow, congrats and welcome to Sophie, hope she is doing well, what a fab weight!

Pinacolada - so sorry to hear about your consultant's apt - do come and see mine, he is NHS and the lovliest man ever. I was in charge of his Kitchen Installation a coupld of years ago (work for a Kitchen co) and he also knew my grandparents so we get on very well I cannot believe they would not listen so you because you have all the classic symptoms of poly h. I don't know what to suggest but do read up about it on the net and you should really have a scan to confirm if it is definitely poly h (they will measure your "pool depth") - perhaps go to your GP and demand another apt at the hosp?

babylove - hope you are ok after scary car accident and scary receptionist (not a big fan of them myself)

Am afraid I couldn't keep up with over 7 pages of posts since I last came on, so hope everyone is ok and those off work now are resting and enjoying the calm before the storm!

Just a little news from me - I have been booked in for an elective c-section for 15th April! Bump is now measuring 44cm and consultant is v worried about scar rupture from DS's section. Really big weight off my mind. I will now be leaving work next Friday (4th April) - hurrah!

Azaduhi · 28/03/2008 21:06

yes and at the end she said make sure you book an appointment for the smear...haha whatever..oh next week i have to have another GP full antenal check up, but this time i am gonna make sure to book it with my GP (group practise for those who don't know) even though i am aware that he isn't much better than the other one but atleast he booked me to my prefferd hospital (30min drive) rather than the local crappy one. fingers crossed.
gonna be really busy with appointment next week...had to start writing a diary

i started writing my birth plan today on a sheet on paper to discuss it with MW on next appointment...i thought i'm only gonna write a few things but it turned out to be a whole A4 page lol ... and it only took me 20 mins to write it
well i am having my second one, therefore definetly have an idea of what i don't want.
first pregnancy had been treated really badly during labour but thats another story, don't wanna scare none of you, changed hospital this time. so far happy which their service. fingers crossed

ZamMummy · 28/03/2008 21:23

Hello all, another day of waddling here... My SPD is back with a vengeance today, feel as though someone has taken an angle grinder to my pubes! (have put that as FB status - is that TMI?) Could it be the fact that DH & I had a lie-in after DS went to nursery today...? Am so delighted, 4 weeks after coming off prozac my sex drive has returned - yippee!!
Have managed to wean myself off them by taking monster doses of vitamins/minerals a la Patrick Holford. Was v suspicious but it really seems to have worked - his latest book is Optimum Nutrition for the Mind, has also done one on pregnancy and the vitamins you take for depression and pregnancy are remarkably similar... He must be SO rich.
But still I really recommend it to anyone struggling with anxiety and dark thoughts, I notice that if I forget to take them one day I feel bad again. Plus you get to have bright yellow wee .
Isn't it amazing how many of us suffer from depression? I s'pose it's easier to talk about here than in RL, where you think you're the only mad person in the world, and everyone else copes with life just fine....

mumblesmummy · 28/03/2008 21:28

Hi all, just seen this thread.

mumofk · 28/03/2008 23:56

Congratulations on arrival of Sophie- fingers xed you'll all be home together soon.

Sooo much happening on here its hard to keep up,and therefore keep track for responding- sorry just so tired but its a heartburn night and I'm rationing my ranitidine soI don't have to go back to GP ( I just love drs- not!) and having take away tomorrow so def. need one tomorrow!
Sweetbean- please let us try and help if 'talking' to us makes a difference- we're all here for each others problems and sometimes sharing how you feel might be the right thing to do (though obviously we might not be right for you, but we do care). I had a bad spell early in pg, found other bits of mnet helpful, and though I'm doing ok now can see with all the horrible symptoms and other child(ren), and unhelpful partners (!) some people will find these last months even worse. Hugs**
babylove-sorry to hear about your accident, but glad you have transport again. at receptionists, isn't it scary how some people end up with such power?
Otter- you've got me really curious now, where in West Yorks are you? I'm guessing bradford way if you're 15 mins from leeds. I'm in Halifax! Don't worry though, I'm scared at the thought of any of us meeting up in RL- I feel I've shared too much!!!
Today was my day with DD ALL DAY, no friends or family free to visit so very tiring, but we went to my chiro appt ( little angel), she decided she wanted to go to a cafe (something we normally only do with grandma),she picked the cafe and decided what she wanted- again, little angel. Actually got complemented on her behaviour as we left (preen) then went for a walk around Hebden Bridge (they have nice ducks that like left over teacake!). So, one knackered mumofk by then. Go home, DD wants to play- left sheets airing as a den while we went out so find our (black) cat using cream sheets as a hammock, so DD upset 'her den' being used by cat.mumofk more upset at colour of sheets ( muddy pawprints too) Cue screaming abdabs (DD, not me or cat!) Though cat wasn't too impressed at being evicted....This all made me smile after the event- cat actually thinking elaborate den of sofa, 2 dining chairs and footstool with sheets over designed especially for her comfort
Right, ready to brave lying back somewhat and hopefully Dh will get up for early morning k duty.....
Hope everyone has a reasonable weekend

mumofk · 29/03/2008 00:05

oh as a P.S.- DH and I were discussing 'social networking sites'as in Facebook, which we're not on. He's into IT so something he read was saying about how it can be such a waste of time and people'll use it loads at work (actually, I'm guessing here as I wasn't actually listening , when he starts going on about anything IT I go into 'that's nice dear' mode) but I did ask, oh so you're having a go at mumsnet then. He actually said 'No, I think mumsnet is really helpful for you!'. Wow!!! It could be he's glad he's not having to face endless 'what if' conversations and I'm not talking through every little niggle with him, and some of the stuff I share with him off mumsnet (like other people having same issues as me, or the 'funniest bits of labour' thread, even that 2 babies have landed!)is either 'educational' for him or really hilarious. Though he still assumes if I'm typing it'll be mumsnet and not emails, and asks haven't I been on here enough.....
DD loves looking at what I'm reading coz she loves the smilies (so everyone put them in so I can keep reading even with DD trying to help!!)
hugs all, so glad we're here for each other (hormonal tired sob)

indiechick · 29/03/2008 05:15

Thank you all for your good wishes. I'm home and relaxing (although not sleeping well, hence on internet at this hour!). Sophie doing okay, I'm managing to produce lots of milk for her so hopefully she'll benefit from that.
Babylove21, I work at the hospital so I popped back to the office when I fancied a quick chat with people. I did check a few work emails and sign off properly and even managed a handover with my maternity replacement yesterday afternoon whilst waiting to be discharged. I am now officially on maternity leave though.
Mitchell181 - 10lbs 4ozs in SCBU, hee hee, must have looked like they'd outgrown the incubator a bit.

Mitchell81 · 29/03/2008 07:13

Indiechick- Pleased that you are home, I am sure Sophie will be following soon. You will be able to have a freezer full of EBM, ready for her when she returns.
