Well MW visit was interesting, baby is fine head down now clever girl. So I told her about my cold and peeing myself when I have a coughing fit and she said I am at risk from incontinence and as I will have 3 babies in a short time I could need a pelvic floor repair nevermind about that I can hardly bloody walk which she wasn't that bothered about just told me to phone the physio again. Then as the DDS were with me I was saying I have noone to look after them for half an hour so have to bring them and she said there are new guidelines for a homebirth and I must have someone dedicated to look after them. Hopefully I will have but to be honest going into hospital would be worse as I would be away for a longer period of time IYSWIM even if I was out in 6 hours or so.

So all in all she spoke about having childcare for the DDs and also me being incontinent afterwards. Had my bloods taken and told to come back 6 weeks from now at 34 weeks. Oh how different it is when your on number 3 and low risk.

My belly button has been out a while now DD1 says it's the baby poking it out.

mcchesers · 22/04/2008 17:44

Sounds good SK! I can't imagine having other DCs just now. I'm a mental case on the best of days.

Poor Peanut! Swollen ankles is no good, best to get the MW to check that out. The MWs are forever checking ankles and fingers for swelling.

Disney- great to hear from you. I hope you are taking it easy

Sometimes I feel like such a crap mum. I have no nursery for this baby and have to wait until Friday for my DH to get paid to order the travel cot/bassinet that we're going to get for him. I've hardly bought anything. The again, we'll only be here short term..when we move we'll be giving him a chance to live in the sunshine with loads of cousins to play with..so maybe the coming home won't be picture perfect, but he'll be clean, safe, and really loved by his mum and dad. That's good enough right?

I have a super deep innie BB so reckon it will be right up to the last minute if/when it pops out.

pigleychez · 22/04/2008 18:02

Hi all,

Mummywannabe- Im the opposite and have bought loads! But then ive always been terrible impatient,

Disneystar- Good to have you back on here. Dont feel pressured into anything you dont want to do and let us know how you get on Thursday.

Libra1975- Ive started to buy a few bits for my hospital bag. Bought a couple of front buttoned nighties and some dark towels. Will start planning it properly when i start maternity leave but have been taking ideas from friends and MN and writing a list ready.

EEC- Hope the tubey grip thingy bob helps you.
Belly button is like a slit at the moment and slowly starting to pop out.

SK- Hope you manage to arrange someone to look after the girls when its time. Hope your not feeling too bad today.
6 weeks? I though the appointments got more regular towards the end?

Peanut- I agree with mcchesers about mentioning it to the midwife.

Mcchesers- dont worry about not having much stuff. Your'll bound to get loads fro friends and family and baby wont notice. Your love and care is the most important thing in the world!

Ive felt absoluetly knackered today! DH wants to watch the footy tonight so im going to be hiding upstairs in the bathroom having a nice long soak and relax in the bath.

sweetkitty · 22/04/2008 18:25

mcchesers - I haven't had a nursery for any of mine so far, with DD1 we lived in a tony 2 bed flat that we were planning to move from anyway and with DD2 we had just moved here and her room was way down the list, both of mine were in with me for a year anyway so they didn't really need a nursery as such. With DD1 we got the pram a week before she arrived, didn't have a cot for her as they ran out in BabiesRUs, didn't have a moses basket either, we had one travel cot. Once the baby is here you will realise you don't actually need all the stuff you think you do. We aren't even 30 weeks yet plenty of time still left.

gillythekid · 22/04/2008 18:26

Hi pigley my internet is down so just got onto my neighbours wireless and read your post re hypnobirthing. People look at me strangely when I say it's natural to give birth without pain, they say the same thing every time "you just wait till it happens and you'll be screaming for an epidural!". Well I've now met 3 hypnobirthers who assure me that the only reason women experience pain in childbirth is due to the Fear Tension Pain syndrome, we expect pain so our bodies tense up, labour becomes long and arduous, we get tired and pain takes over.
I won't harp on but if you're interested, you may want to look up Marie Mongon who introduced the techniques for comfortable birthing, I've spoken to women, I've seen the DVD's, it's mindblowing and has made me really confident and excited about birthing my baby at home without intervention.

minipinkscottish · 22/04/2008 18:33

Hi all!
Congratulations verso!! Twinkle - that was an awful thing that those people did to you!! You have every right to be mad - xxx hope you are wellxx

Disney - good to hear from you xx good luck on Thursday xx

SK - also have lots of discharge and peeing when coughing etc - trying to do pevic floor exercises but I always forget. I did have this with number 4 and number 5 and thought I was looking forward to incontinence but after baby was born things improved dramatically and even better once I managed to loose weight So hoping same will apply this time So please don't think that this is a foregone conclusion that you will have these problems.xxx OMG what us women put ourselves through Men really do have it easy xxxx

Sorry just have to say.....only 6 days to work, 1 day this week 3 next and 2 the following ....yipee!!!

Kaz1967 · 22/04/2008 19:28

Libra1975 Think it was adrenalin that got me through it have spent most of today asleep and going back to bed very shortly I am still absolutely shattered.

I have been getting Braxton Hicks for ages too usually when I over do things. And this little one is below the 50% line so not that big. It may be the added size of the fibroids though they added up to over 26cm on my 20 week scan that's nearly the length of this baby.

I am going for hypno birthing not sure anyone has told me it makes things pain free but it does help you manage it and certainly feel less and puts you in control. Fear and tension certainly increase pain which is why it is common for the woman who today decides on a home delivery to require less pain relief they are well informed and in a place where they feel relaxed and usually supported by a professional they know and trust.

sweetkitty · 23/04/2008 03:21

Well you can tell by the time of this post that I'm not having a good night. Woke up in agony sinusitis it feels like I have been kicked in the face several times by a horse. Am waiting on the painkillers to take effect (paracetamol and codeine) having a cup of tea then trying to see if I can go to sleep again. My whole face aches [feeling sorry for myself emoticon]

thanks minipink - good to know I might not have a lifetime of Tena Lady ahead of me.

disneystar · 23/04/2008 07:27

sweetkitty hope you got some sleep after you were on here in the middle of the night
thats a horrible pain isnt it
are you taking any inhalers to clear things up at all,as in vapourisers im sure youve thought of that though
i have had fibromaylgia for years and the doctor prescribes me actual codeine i rarely take it now i just dont like to at the moment. hope you feel better soon

sweetkitty · 23/04/2008 07:56

Morning ladies still feeling rough this morning but a little better. Last time I had sinusitis this bad was when I was a week overdue with DD2, maybe it's a weird pregnancy thing? You do have increased mucus when you are pregnant hence the discharge thing and DP always says I snore when I'm pregnant too! Just hope no one else in the house gets it, DP is training for the marathon and would be so annoyed if he couldn't run and you never want the LOs to be ill. Not going to music class with DD2 today as well don't feel like singing!

Mummywannabe · 23/04/2008 08:43

Morning all.

Sweetkitty - poor you. Hope you feel bit brighter soon

Disneystar - nice to hear from you. Think you must be incredibly strong to cope with it all. x

Re: Braxton hicks - get them when i rush about too.

I am so tired today, had parents evening last night for the nursery and time i left, tidied up etc I was shattered.

Libra - lol, have to say Dh is quite impressed by mine too!

Haven't started on hospital bag yet, gonna get some bits and bobs on sat. How big a bag are you allowed??

babyontheway · 23/04/2008 08:57

Morning Ladies!
Hope you all OK this morning. Especially you SK sounds like your really rough at the moment
Have been having some serious BH. At least thats what I think they are. Having never had labour I'm not quite sure but its like my whole bump goes really tight and sore and I cant do anything for about a min.
I was loving going out in the sun yesterday but have woken up this morning with a really patchy face looks like a had a self tan accident! So think I might be avoiding that again.
On the subject of bellybuttons mine has not turned into an outey but is totally flat! My DS has also decided that it is baby pushing it out! DS also asking lots of really funney questions like where does baby go for a poo? and does baby like it when you eat chinese? and how can you tell? DS also thinks giving birth is like going for a big poo! really have to have that birds and bees chat with him at some point!
Anyway have a good day ladies!

Libra1975 · 23/04/2008 09:42

Morning all, I am bright and breezy again today,it is raining but at least it's not cold, maybe, just maybe spring is round the corner?

SK - Sorry you are having such a rough time and lack of sleep must make you feel worse (even tho with 2 children already sleep deprivation must be something you are very au fait with!) Any chance you can persuade DD2 to have a nap instead of going to music class so you could have a lie down? (You can tell this is my first can't you!)

Question for those out there with children already. Nappy/changing bags. Whilst passing Accessorize this morning I noticed they had a lot of rather large beautiful bags
i.e. www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/28942837

So the question is is a specialised nappy bag actually worth it or should I buy something like this and then just buy a travel changing mat etc to put in it?
I really should be thinking about things I need such as a cot rather than frivolities such as this shouldn't I.

I love the fact the DC are thinking it's the baby poking the belly button out. Mine is still an inner, I can feel a little freak out occuring when it actually becomes and outy which is what happened with the linea nigra.

TJuice · 23/04/2008 10:04

hi all.
another sunny day here in cph, but i am working from home and feeling knackered . . .

okay - a tmi question - rather than the usual constipation - I have had runny tummy for 3 days now and its making rather alarming noises. Should I be worried that I ate something that could affect the baby?

I'm thinking that its something slightly dodgy but its kind of staying in my system for longer than usual, because digestion is so much slower in pregnancy - would that make sense? I did ask my junior dr dp, but he always tells me to look at my books! So crap. Its like being with a builder who never does up your place - or I once dated a chef who never cooked for me!

SK - hope you are feeling better. Its the worse pain, sinus pain - on par with toothache, i think. hope you got some rest.

just spent time trying to figure out an outfit for a friend's 40th at the weekend. my best friends own a vintage clothing shop, so we usually get all gussied up for any occasion but its been very hard recently. but having been through my whole closet, i think i have found something - a antique dark green silk dropped waist, flapper style dress with kind of ruching and a diamante brooch under the belly. and some vintage miu miu diamante kitten heels. it looks nice and in fact, i may save it for getting married next month (my dp and i decided to do the do, because the whole baby surname here is a bit complicated here and we want for us all to have the same name. my mum is a bit disappointed but is planning a proper ceremony/knees up in jamaica next year for our friends and relatives - hope it happens!)

belly buttons - my very deep innie is now more shallow so i am wondering whether it will be sticking out in the next 9 weeks!!! i think they look cute sticking out on other people but it feels a bit kind of vulnerable to me . . .

cass66 · 23/04/2008 10:23

hi guys. sniffing away today and wondering where the sun has gone. my 5 yr old had such a tantrum this morning she upset my usually placid hubby. bloody school!!

anyway. I think I may have the beginnings of SPD. feel awfully achey down there when I walk anywhere and also after I've been sitting for long periods of time (ie at work). have to limp for a few steps to get going!

re changing bags. I bought a posh one for my first and haven't used it since. as long as the inside is wipable (all sorts of things will potentially leak!!) then it should be ok. and if you're breastfeeding you need very little to start with, unless your baby is a vomiter, like a friends, who had to take 2-3 changes of clothing with her everywhere (for the baby and herself!), as opposed to me and a spare vest if I'm lucky. her baby is now a healthy 5 yr old, so it doesn't make any difference by the way!

I'm going to preg yoga tonight for the first time. any idea of what to expect??? not really my thing but it gets me out of the house!

SK, hope your sinuses improve. have you tried steam inhalation?? works for me, and is good for your skin.

sweetkitty · 23/04/2008 10:24

Oh Tjuice I didn't know you were going for the big marriage thing, have you been keeping it quiet, last time on my last postnatal thread someone got married, she looked stunning. We have never taken the plunge something has always got in the way (house moves, new jobs, babies) I said to DP now though if we do get married no one will bother with me as I will have the 3 most beautiful bridesmaids ever, oh well. The girls have DP's surname and they call me Mummy DP surname which is cute. Your outfit sounds lovely can't wait to see the pics. Oh how exciting someone is getting married I've had a few bugs in pregnancy and the baby has always been fine. Our bodies are ace at keeping anything nasty away from the baby.

Libra1975 - you haven't met my DD2 have you? She couldn't be persuaded to do anything, she's a law unto herself. I have bought her about 20 pairs of pants in anticipation for potty training but she flat out refuses to sit on the potty. I wanted to get her trained before DD3 came along but think she will be in pull ups for a while longer.

Who asked about bags? I love bags, I have had a little pink rucksack that got too small, also had a black Mothercare one (don't know what happened to it though), currently have a Samsonite one which I got from TX Maxx for a bargain £15, it's a denim rucksack and is fab (DP refused to carry a flowery girly one). It has separate pockets for bottles/juice cups, smelly section, clips to attach it to the buggy and it came with a bottle insulator thing and a changing mat although they grow out the little changing mats pretty quick. I can't really justify another bag but did have a look at the Orla Kiely one in John Lewis the other week, £70 for a changing bag but they were nice.

Libra1975 · 23/04/2008 10:25

TJuice, lol at description of DP, my DH is doc as well but usually answers my questions about pregnancy with "don't know" and "google is your friend", the one time I needed him when I had cut my head open (he is A&E doc) he was an hours drive away drinking with the rugby lads....I am lucky in that I am giving birth in the hospital in which he works so hopefully having a doc by my side will mean that I stay informed of exactly what is going on.

Your outfit sounds lovely, my DH had an old fashioned fit about us not being married before kiddy (it might have helped if he had got round to proposing before he got round to getting me pregnant, I like to say the pregnancy was planned and the wedding wasn't!). I was 19 weeks when we got married and it was one of the best days ever we just had parents and siblings and like you we will have a proper party next year (I wasn't paying for people to get drunk when I couldn't!)

I'm rambling today!

Sorry no help on the runny tummy but sure it won't have affected the baby as long as you keep hydrated.

Is anyone else feeling breathless even when they are sitting down?

sweetkitty · 23/04/2008 10:26

Oh and forgot to add I think in the Bounty pack you get a Huggies voucher for a free changing bag, it's blue and wipeclean and has a changing mat, very useful for the car.

Libra1975 · 23/04/2008 10:29

oh and congratulations

Libra1975 · 23/04/2008 10:31

oh freebie! Great fan of freebies will keep an eye out thanks for that SK.

libralady · 23/04/2008 10:32

SK sorry you are feeling rough. I had the sinusitis thing back in January/February and it's horrible. The Dr prescribed codeine sulphate for me and it did help.
TJ congratulations on your wedding next month. Make sure you enjoy your day. It wizzes past so quickly.
I too have a surprise 40th birthday party to go to at the weekend and I haven't a clue whst I am going to wear. All I know is that I must have a kip in the afternoon otherwise there is no point in me going past 8pm at night.
Just put a load of washing out and now I'm off to tackle the dump room office which in turn will be the nursery, but everything has just been dumped in there since Christmas and it's difficult to even open the door!

libralady · 23/04/2008 10:36

I can second the huggies bag. I used mine instead of the one that came with my travel system. Unfortunately it died but I'll certainly be getting my freebie again this time around.
