Me... cry... nope not me...
Am definately NOT listening it now and welling up. NOPE. Not me. No way....

Mollyfloss · 17/03/2008 16:36

I'm just gone 36 weeks so can wait another couple of weeks too!

Daftmoo: Your birth story is so moving. I've just managed to stop crying.

I have been eating a ridiculous amount of sweet stuff these past few weeks so am not allowing myself any cakes or chocolate until my Easter egg on Sunday. I'm have some lollipops in case I get desperate. I figure sucking on a lollipop is much better than stuffing myself with cake or chocolate. I might make those flapjacks though. They're relatively healthy aren't they?

For labour I am desperately looking for a knee length nightie or top with thin straps that buttons all or most of the way down. Thin straps becuse it gets hot and sweaty and buttons for the skin to skin as soon as baby is born. Does anyone know where I can find that? I've tried M&S, Mothercare, Primark etc...

I've been a nesting freak for quite a while now. This pregnancy has changed everything about me. I used to love savoury food and not mind a bit of a mess and was fairly rational. Now I'm a over-emotional chocoholic tidy organised freak!

ThePFJ · 17/03/2008 16:41

How about this Molly?

Did a quick search on the net for you. Have a look [http://budget-bumps.co.uk/acatalog/maternity-nightwear-size-20.html here]

ThePFJ · 17/03/2008 16:41

oops here

VictorianPASqualor · 17/03/2008 16:44

Before you listen to the song you need to know the story as well, Eva Cassidy is dead, agressive cancer, hit her quick and hard

Mollyfloss · 17/03/2008 16:44

thanks PFJ, didn't see that when I was in M&S. Do you think it buttons down enough for skin to skin? Where do they put the baby on your breast or belly?

ThePFJ · 17/03/2008 16:48

Kinda over both I am guessing. I would say you hold them for the skin to skin in roughly the same place as BFing. You would want to be able to lean over and kiss your baby on the cheek during the skin to skin I think. I would anyway.
It's a shame the nightie doesnt button down any further though.
Lets both have another look around the web and see what we can come up with.

Awww.. VS ...see NOW I AM crying!

ThePFJ · 17/03/2008 16:51

This one looks better Molly here

ThePFJ · 17/03/2008 16:52

Enlarge the middle pic.. it buttons down more and theres a wee shrug/shawl thingie with it.

northeastmummy · 17/03/2008 16:53

If you guys are all racing, I'd like to be at the finish line handing out bottles of lucozade (or tea and cakes if that's more what you're after ).

I need to listen to this Eva Cassidy song - where do I find it?

PFJ - how many beds are in your bumps room? Bunk beds, cot and a bed covered in lights? I'm loving the sound of those lights by the way ... what's it all about?

VictorianPASqualor · 17/03/2008 16:55

FiL told me yesterday to drink lucozade if I wanted baby to come

songbird

northeastmummy · 17/03/2008 16:57

Molly - I was in Mothercare at the weekend and they had quite a few button down nighties. Some of the straps were a bit thicker but would still keep you cool.

northeastmummy · 17/03/2008 17:02

Lucozade it is then

ThePFJ · 17/03/2008 17:03

I now have bunk beds, a moses basket and a cot in there northeastmummy!
I have an optic fibre lamp, a lava lamp in red and purple and some hanging lights like these here
which are just lovely. They make the room so cosy.

The moses basket is moving into mine and DP's bedroom when LO arrives, so I can have baby next to me on my side of the bed.

Mollyfloss · 17/03/2008 17:04

Thanks PFJ, if I don't find something that buttons down further I'll get that one.

NEM: When I went to Mothercare they dodn't have much and the nightie I ended up buying showed button on the packet but when I opened it at home they're were none. Still it' ok for breastfeeding but won't work for the skin to skin.

ThePFJ · 17/03/2008 17:06

Oh and I have some blue LED star lights left from christmas.. which arent really christmasy that I thought I'd weave around the top of the cot, or hang above it. I also have a colour changing lamp in my room so I can have dim lights for night feeds.
I am a bit of a lighting nut as you can see.
Comes from being a total hippy as a kid I think :P

ToastAddict · 17/03/2008 17:06

Oooh, PFJ, thanks for that budgetbumps link - the £5 dark blue mothercare shirt is exactly what I have been looking for (and failed to find!) to give birth/stay in hospital in!! Have now placed order!
Thanks

Scampmum · 17/03/2008 17:16

Ooh, am thinking about my labour mix now (never got round to it last time) and have to bear in mind that I'll never be able to listen to any of the songs again after LO is born without crying! I have two (classical, randomly) pieces that I listened to soon after P was born and I literally well up thinking about them - Bruch's Violin Concerto and I Was Glad by Parry. Allegri's Miserere always got me anyway, but that's another one.

Think this one will be a bit more hip, though - am thinking Sufjan Stevens, low-tempo Led Zep, maybe Leonard Cohen because that makes me cry anyway - but that's all quite mellow. What if labour goes on for ages, though - do you get sick of them? Or do you just put it on when you're in the final stages?

TheMaskedPoster · 17/03/2008 17:24

Oh - SOB! to Songbird

Now you ladies have gone and got me thinking that maybe I will have a song-fest at this birth (as opposed to much panting and screaming only) ... so far all I can think that will inspire me (through the pain etc) is The Best of the Lighthouse Family. However, as I am booked in to the Malden suite at Kingston (like LOADS of others) - I may be lucky even to have the baby in the labour suite (friend had baby there 2 weeks ago and only just got in one with 1/2 hour to go and then was ushered out after 45 mins!!)

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 17/03/2008 17:30

What a beautiful song... and what a sad story - had no idea Eva was dead

Well my 1st day of my new 'job' has been very busy! Have scrubbed bathroom till gleaming, have been to the shops, have been to the train station to get a refund on my annual travel ticket, and have baked lemon pound cake with cream cheese frosting! Dinner next - meatballs and spagetti! Oh and not forgetting lots of MN time without having to hide screen everytime boss walks past! Phew! Pooped now!

Scampmum · 17/03/2008 17:33

M2B2BR - well done! I have cleaned up the kitchen (a bit), cooked myself pasta and pesto, eaten about three quarters of a flapjack and sat on the internet reading (Mumsnet and) all the news I would have been having to comment on at work .

TheMaskedPoster · 17/03/2008 17:36

What an incredibly productive day in your new 'job' Mum2b2BabyRoo . Well done you and that cake (especially the icing) sounds FAB!

yummo - must admit, I have become a sweet tooth in this preggers ... I cannot leave a cream slice or winegum in peace these days. Ahhhh well, I suppose running around after a 3.10 year old and breast-feeding a newborn will help shift the excess weight I have accumulated. >

V1KK1M · 17/03/2008 17:40

Congratulations Datfmoo:0

I haven't been around in ages but I have just started maternity leave so have had a good chance to catch up.

I hope everyone is doing well and I agree that this is the longest part of the pregnancy!

I am looking for a few bits of advice...

Firstly I have SPD which is now making sleep virtually impossible and it is very painful everytime I lay down - anybody have any good advice on how to make mayself a little more comfortable?!?!

Also I think I have started loosing my mucus plug today (Sorry if TMI). There was no blood, just snot - does this mean that things are starting? I've had a few braxton hicks which have taken my breath away but are not consistant. I have been taking Raspberry Leaf tablets (to try and speed things up a bit) so should I stop taking them? Also I have been trying the having lots of sex thing, so should I stop that too?!?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 17/03/2008 17:48

It does make me laugh to think we had lots of sex to make a baby and will have lots of sex to make the baby's birth come on!

Sorry I can't help with your questions V1KK1M. When is your LO due?
