Scorpio: you are 5'9 though aren't you so 9 stone was really not much at all! I'm 5'5 and I weighed just over 8 before pg and now am about 10 and a half and still counting 'cos I don't think I'm finished clocking up the pounds yet...

When I was 23 I went through a really skinny phase without even trying and at one stage I weighed 45 kg (just over 7 stone). Ah those were the days... God, I swore I would never be one of those women who talk about how thin they used to be and here I am... sigh

Anyway, I heard back from my cousin who is going to see my Mum & my Aunt who have both seen me recently) and her own Mum this weekend and they are going to try and figure out together whether the dress should be a size 10 or 12 for me.

Sagitta: The baby probably won't come early but maybe it's still worth finding an eventual birth partner just in case... oh and childcare too, otherwise you'll be taking your LO with you to the labour ward! It's sods law, if you don't organise it you might just need it and if you do organise it you probably won't.

Carey: chewing bath sponges?! that's almost as weird as somone I heard of who had to eat coal and someone else who liked mayonnais on cornflakes!

scorpio1 · 14/03/2008 13:50

Molly - I'm not worried what i weigh - i just do it on clothes fitting me TBH. yes i am 5'9, at the end of the pregnancy i will prob be 11stone ish and thats fine; honestly it wall fall off. I think i havent put on loads becuase i walk everywhere, do yoga and have 2 other kids to run round after!!

PortAndLemon · 14/03/2008 13:52

VS -- does this thread sound anything like what your DCs had?

It's not so much how much I weigh on the scales, it's looking at my nice jeans in the wardrobe and wondering if I will ever fit in them again. they seem so tiny now... and I really don't want to have a buy anymore. Ah well, I'd much rather have a happy healthy baby than a skinny pg body. I know a couple of people who didn't put on much weight (did not eat enough during pg as they didn't want to get big) and then had tiny babies. I don't know how anyone could do that on purpose...

scorpio1 · 14/03/2008 14:00

thats awful Molly I eat tons!!

Carey87 · 14/03/2008 14:05

the only reason Ive only put on 12 lbs is because I had the worst morning sickness in the world and lost a stone so actually ive put on nearly two stone since then, but only 12lb in total if you get my drift

Mollyfloss · 14/03/2008 14:14

I know it's terrible. This one girl I met who's kids were all tiny, you just know from the way she talks that she didn't eat much during pg... and it wasn't down to morning sickness... she's very body conscious and talks a lot a lot getting botox etc. It's a bit sad when you care that much that you wouldn't eat enough during pg. I eat tons too (that said I sort of have to I'm so bloody hungry!) but i suppose I don't really need all the sweet stuff

Sal22 · 14/03/2008 14:14

Hi all. A bit of a late post, but for the heat rash - I've used this in between applying gels / ointments before, and it helped cooling the "out of reach" areas a little. Hope it helps for your back.

Carey87 · 14/03/2008 14:17

that looks really good

thank you xx

EllieG · 14/03/2008 14:22

Well I would rather have a nice healthy baby. I used to have an eating disorder so decided when got PG that was just going to concentrate on staying sane and eating what me and the babe need. I looked through all the info and not eating or bulimia is so harmful to yourself and baby when preggers and I could not bear to do that to my little one. It's been a bit hard sometimes but I really think that getting PG was good for me, as got me out of very silly cycle of eating, and made me feel OK about it. I really think I will carry on being like this true, as it feels like I have turned a bit of a corner.

Gosh, went all confessional then. Must go eat some cake. Someone has bought in home made snickers muffins mmmmm

Soph73 · 14/03/2008 14:27

EllieG - good for you Soph28 - my friend craved ice-cubes when she was preggers. However, I've never heard of the bath sponge one I feel quite sane now

sagitta · 14/03/2008 14:27

Ellie - it's here

The only problem you might have is that you need to leave the tangerines in a saucepan for a couple of hours, but I am sure you could do it over two evenings if needs be. The smell is gorgeous, and it's a really scrummy cake.

Carey87 · 14/03/2008 14:36

my tube of savlon just exploded all over my desk!!!!!! ha ha ha!!!! it made a huge farting noise!!! he he he!!!!

PortAndLemon · 14/03/2008 14:39

When she says "Dump the clementines - skins, pith, fruit and all - and give a quick blitz." what does she mean? Do you actually dump them or does she mean put them in a food processor?

OP posts:
Mollyfloss · 14/03/2008 14:42

Elli: Good for you to get over the eating disorder. It's not easy I would imagine. The girl i'm talking about does not have a disorder as far as I know, she is just vain... it's sad really...

My doc told me at the beginning of the pg to get the calories into me in the form of plenty of carbs, lots of calcium, some protein & fruit & veg and to put on at least 12 kgs. so that's what I've been doing. The chocolate wasn't really advised but that just couldn't be helped Still a few extra pounds in pg is a lot safer than not putting on enough weight...

Soph73 · 14/03/2008 14:45

Carey
My Library is full of students - fortunately they´re going to Assembly at 3pm and then I´ll have some peace & quiet to tidy up & then go home DH got some of his temporary crowns last night, he finally has teeth

Mollyfloss · 14/03/2008 15:02

I'm off into Oxford street to check out TENs machines, and get a couple of cheap nighties for the hospital.

Have a great weekend!

Scampmum · 14/03/2008 15:03

Thanks so much for all your joysharing - sorry to be smug when the rest of you are still working!

I have a so-outy-it's-almost-a-flatty and also have the muchos attractivos 'discolouration'. No stretchmarks as yet but have done P&L's trick ('why does that stretchmark have the imprint of a button on it, I wonder?') and have used this Clarins oil DH got me last time and this time quite religiously. Did get them on boobs last time but more from being crap about expressing on my odd night out and allowing them to inflate to watermelon dimensions! also already had some from when they literally popped out overnight (I think in protest at me not getting enough snogs) when I was about 15.

Boss just walked past and saw me on Mumsnet and... I DON'T GIVE A F*CK! woohoo, this feels good (I have never liked this job, have done it for ££ for seven years!). Just clearing out my desk and I think I'll head off quite soon.

Molly, I think your attitude is spot on. My bum inflated and deflated last time too - I think some of it's just water! I generally put on weight on bum and thighs anyway (so my bum small when skinny but first place to show weight gain) but it did seem to drop off after DD birth. Walking was great - we did miles and miles. Not sure a 2 year old will fancy all the 8 mile hikes round South London, though, so I'll have to come up with a different strategy this time.

Soph73 · 14/03/2008 15:14

Aaahhh, peace at last (for 20 mins). Well I´ve sort of tidied up & will be heading off soon. Will probably not get to a computer over hols so take care everyone & no popping until I can get onto MN

P&L - she means put everything in a food processor...except pips

Busy day!

I decided yesterday to at least look into acupunture or something to try to turn this child round, so made an appt (free consultation) at an acupuncture & herb place in town to see actually how much it would cost atc. The doc recommended going every other day for 7 treatments, or until it works. Said he was free to do first one there & then, and decided for £25 to do it then talk to DH tonight about continuing or not. I lay on a bench thing and had 3 acupuncture needles put into each arm, and 2 in each lower leg. He normally puts some in the tummy but didn't today because I haven't had acupuncture before and he didn't know how I'd react to it. Then he put a 'lamp' that didn't light up over my tummy and left me for 10 mins. Came back, twizzled all the needles and left me for another 10 mins. Came back again, took the needles out, and did some very hard rubbing of different bits of my head and neck with some cotton wool with what smelt like ralgex or something. Slightly sceptical about the whole thing but the baby was very very active while the needles were in, and has been more than usual since I've been home. I've got another appt for tomorrow booked but I can cancel it and they said it normally takes 3 treatments for it to work. That would mean the 3rd one would be on tues, and I'm bookes in for the ECV at noon on tues. Don't know what to do really, will talk to DH tonight and see what he says. The doc says that acupuncture has a 6/7 out of 8 success rate. A lot of money though!

Came home and made 2 sugar free fruit cakes to put in the freezer, one with apple & strawberries in and one with peach & pear. They're still cooling so no idea what they taste like yet!

I have no idea what I weigh or how much I've put on, but to be honest I thought I'd be humungous by now with all the extra insulin I've had to take. I'm not going to be too bothered about how quickly I lose it after though, my weight fluctuates so much naturally that I'm used to it!

I've had the waistband stretch marks too, but haven't got any new ones from pg. Just the old ones from tummy growing and shrinking! My belly button is still an innie, but was very deep to start with and possibly because the baby's the wrong way round too.

TLSM · 14/03/2008 15:43

gosh you have all been busy!

Been for my scan and the bugger is still breech I knew he was as I can feel his head under my ribs and he keeps kicking me really low he also is a tad big still for dates is about 5lb 12 oz (I am 33+6) so they have given him only a 10 - 20% chance of turning! they have booked me in for a c-section on the 10th April but have a check up and scan in two weeks just in case I asked the doctor if there is anything that could help baby turn and he said that baby sits where he/she is most comfy and even if you manage to turn them they are more than likely to go back to their fav spot just like us with a chair or bed which makes sense really! so i am having my baby in 3 weeks and 6 days best start washing nappies! ahhhh

ToastAddict · 14/03/2008 15:43

Very of all of you with no stretchmarks, the bottom of my tummy is covered and more appear every day

Can I ask about car seats? Has everyone got one of these Isofix ones, or do you just make do with the ones that get strapped in with the seat belts? Doesn't help that we plan on getting a new car (curently have a 3 door Fiesta, want to get a 5 door something bigger...), so sod's law says whichever car seat we buy won't fit new car (can't see us getting new car before baby arrives)

Any advice greatly received
