BTW - i couldn't decide what to have for dinner so i had a massive bowl of cornflakes!!!!

Nutritious?

turtle23 · 04/03/2008 19:49

Me? No sweep...I wish. Despite all the activity I'm not due for another 19 days.

Am going to brave it without a list. As long as I come home having GONE to Sainsburys, I will feel that I have accomplished something.

Turtle - struggling with the dinner decision making myself so no help I'm afraid. Although Cornflakes do sound very appealing...

Poor you though - you really are sampling every conceivable 'joy' of pregnancy in turn aren't you?

timmyinatizzy · 04/03/2008 20:43

No sign of coming out from Junior here. I was so desprate for him to come out today as it is my mum's birthday. But alas, Junior has other ideas. From thinking early on in pregnancy that he would be early, I now think that he will be late. Although Dh will say that he is just like me! Always late for things. My midwife asked to book in for a sweep towards the end of my 40th week if nothing had happened by then. I'm ok with that, but if that doesn't work then I may ask for a second sweep rather than induction.

I too got a bit emotional over the last 24 hours. Dsd's were mucking about too much last night when thety should of been on there wind down time before bed, Dh was busy on the computer so it ended up with me shouting at them, and making one of them cry. Felt awful about it so had a cry myself. Then dh refused a bit of 'hows your father?' so that made me cry again. Woke up this morning with a horrible headache and really achy eyes. Took a paracetamol and had a kip after I had taken the dsd's to school and felt much better. We've had a nice afternoon since they came home from school. No fighting, or shouting. Made flapjacks with dsd1, made dinner and clared up before 7, so have been relaxing since then. Dh is at football tonight, safe in the knowledge that Junior is not coming!!!!

oops nearly forgot to say, welcome to Lucca. well done thequietone.

Jaysthird · 04/03/2008 21:05

my mistake turtle, profound apologies!

Back from a really intensive session of acupuncture...god she went for me tonight!!!

Am waiting with baited breath...!!!!

turtle23 · 04/03/2008 21:38

Jaysthird...hope your accupuncture works. With any luck you'll be too busy to post tomorrow. x

congratulations thequietone! Hope all is going well.

Sorry to hear about all the woes, pains, etc. Just think in 5wks we will all be mums!

I got some expected news from the registrar today. Measuring 43cm at 37wks, his words were 'I think it will be a fair size' so I am off for a growth scan on Friday to see if I'm having a baby or a baby elephant .
He said to ask them to document the position as well, hopefully not OP. I also had glucose +++ in my urine. So may have to decline mini eggs from now on .

I had reflexology when I was due with dd1 and went into labour 4 days later, so it can work, however, I don't know if she was ready IYSWIM and have wondered ever since if it contributed to her poor positioning.

littleducks · 05/03/2008 08:22

ooh, tori good luck with the growth scan but do listen to drs about sugar consumption, my friend had a baby on the 1st who was 9lbs and she had natural delivery no pain relief etc (but is feeling uncomfortable now!) but is def glad she listened when midwife said to stop the sugar or 'the baby would be too big to push out'

AdelaideJo · 05/03/2008 10:06

Is anyone else on here due on St. Patricks Day, as am I?

JFly · 05/03/2008 10:13

So I was feeling pretty smug about my holding it together with all the hormones flying around the thread. Until last night, that is!

Had a total meltdown after DH shouted at me b/c builder hadn't done something properly. I was supposed to tell builder it was wrong but didn't b/c I just wanted to get on with the decorating. So, many tears flowed. DH isn't one to apologise for my tears as he figures it's always my problem if I'm upset about anything. Nothing to do with you shouting at me, then!

I just wanted to get the room finished, and it was such a minor issue, I figured let's just get on with it so I can stop stressing. Anyway, builder and painter here today so will hopefully sort it out between them. I wash my hands of it all!

Anyhoo, it's a nice sunny day and I will leave the house today!

HolidaysQueen · 05/03/2008 10:28

AdelaideJo - I'm actually due 10 days later but secretly hoping for a St Patrick's Day baby as I have a very large Irish and Irish-American family and they would love it if my baby was born then

JFly - sounds like you and your DH have similar views on tearfulness as me and my DH! Hope the sunshine is making you feel better and that the builders do things properly today!

turtle23 · 05/03/2008 10:31

Could somebody please shoot me? Midwife has just been, and though baby is engaging nicely after his shooting out of the pelvis episode...my blood pressure has shot right up and have to go to fetal assessment unit tomorrow. I am very sad as stressing that this might blow my homebirth. Sigh.

JFly · 05/03/2008 10:32

Thanks, HQ. Have high hopes for today! I may even wash my hair!

fitnfortyone · 05/03/2008 10:59

turtle, I went through all that yesterday, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the baby and my bp came down to "normal" within a couple of hours of being there. It's really easy for it to shoot up quickly, just bad timing to get it checked by the m/w at the wrong time! I don't see how they can veto the home birth for a one off instance as long as you can just relax enough to keep it down for future checks...i concentrated on slow breathing and happy visualisations (my dog!)

I've been told the m/w will come visit me today to check it's ok still, but have no idea when so i guess that means i have to stay in all day until they get in touch A good night's sleep has worked wonders, have decided i'm ignoring all minor contrractions as messing with my mind, so until they decide to take themselves seriously neither will i!

merryberry · 05/03/2008 11:00

oh turtle, consider yourself shot at with warm fluffy relaxation images. Well, you'll either love it or laugh so hard your BP will drop afterwards.

I would also: Insist on repeat BP measures over time if they hassle you about it tomorrow. I was induced on one high measure only, and iut never was high again. Grr. Get to appt early, ensure time to sit and do some mental relaxation exercises. Get rid of the deep irritation you must feel at your GP ATM. Try and get a float in before tomorrow, get in your pool or have a deep bath. Using hte pools proven to reduce BP!

My BP was up loads at UCH on Monday and perfectly normal today.

merryberry · 05/03/2008 11:01

ROFL laughing at x-post re: dog, fitnfortyone, look at my link!

HolidaysQueen · 05/03/2008 11:13

turtle - my bp was up last week and I'm a bit worried it will scupper my birth centre chances so I'm with you on the worrying. It's just in the normal range still but it had shot up significantly and is much higher than it has been for the whole of my pregnancy so they asked me to come in again tomorrow rather than wait until 38 weeks. I plan to arrive 20 mins early and have a relaxing book to read so that I have time to calm down beforehand and let my body recover from the tube journey and walk etc., and I also cunningly have a pregnancy massage booked about 2 hours prior to the appt so I'm hoping I'll be fine... Have your favourite dinner, a calming bath and an early night tonight and distract yourself with nice things so that you don't stress about it because that is the one thing guaranteed to send it sky high...

JFly - I'm with you on the hair washing. I just cannot be bothered and have far more important things to do like whinge at you all on MN! But I need to do it today as I'm going out to a posh drinks reception tonight (top of the Gherkin in the City!) and can't really trog in with scraped back greasy hair wearing pyjama bottoms and a crummy old cardigan...

turtle23 · 05/03/2008 11:26

I am choosing to laugh at my current situation. I get a new pregnancy nightmare every morning, so am trying to see the funny side. That, and DH is worried about me so am using that to get housework done...heehee
I am going to go and soak myself while listening to hypnobirthing CD for next 24 ours.

MerlinsBeard · 05/03/2008 11:27

sorry to cut and paste but it saves me typing again!

i'm not in labour but i finally have some news!

Saw specialist consultant who said that there was a grey area with OC after 38 weeks as to what the actual risk to baby were. They said that they wouldn't let me go over dates and asked what i thought. I told her about some guidelines i had read about (thank you MN) that didn't prove either way and i would rather baby was here now so i could a) stop worrying and b) stop itching. She gave me a sweep there and then, said my cervix is very favourable-even remarked that she could insert 2 fingers...I'm not sure how to take that . bishops score is 8 and booked in for induction on friday if things don't get going.

HolidaysQueen · 05/03/2008 11:38

MOM - that's great! I saw you on another thread about OC earlier today and did a bit of looking for OC guidelines (I'm interested as my company is starting to look at whether they can make a drug for OC). It sounds like guidelines are hazy at the best of times as there is so little research, so I'm glad that the consultant let the decision be led by what you want Hurray - only a few more days of itching to go at most!!!

MerlinsBeard · 05/03/2008 11:49

HQ, there is a drug. I am on ursodeoxycholic acid. it works by lowering the level of bile acids and ASTs (i don't know what they are!) not to relieve the itching to regain control. nothing for the itching bar childbirth as yet

fitnfortyone · 05/03/2008 12:11

LOL MB at your fluffy link...mine's much scruffier and currently sitting on top of the sofa making smudges with his nose on the window

This thread and the other with all the labour stuff is making me laugh so much this morning, that's got to be good for something

Good luck mom, hope you don't have to wait until friday, but at least you've got that to, erm, look forward to!

I know this has probably been answered elsewhere, but i do have nightmares thinking about how they tell how dilated you are...if they can stick 2 fingers in and tell you're 2cm, do they have to prove the same point with both hands when you're fully dilated:

doup76 · 05/03/2008 12:16

LOL!!!!!! Fnf
