sagitta · 15/02/2008 14:23

I've got less than 2 hours to do all the cleaning...is that possible???

Mollyfloss · 15/02/2008 14:24

Welcome Bobbydazzler, nice to have you here! Do you mind if I ask you a personal question - the first time you got pregnant did it take you long to conceive? The reason I'm asking is that I have conceived twice, once I miscarried and then conceived this baby. I got pregnant first time each time but I was wondering does that necessarily mean it will be that easy in the future....? Sorry, if this has nothing to do with being pregnant now...

KnitterInTheNW · 15/02/2008 14:29

Hi Bobbydazzler!

Denny/Sheds, I can do 10th/11th.

Peachy · 15/02/2008 14:29

Molly can't speak for the others, but I conceived ds1, 2 and 3 within 6 weeks of starting to try (one cycle I think, ovulating makes me broody so by the time we'd discussed it....). This one took 8 months- we pretyt much gave up on it happening tbh, assumed it was being older (not eactly ancient at 34 and 36 but at that starting to decline age iyswim).

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 14:37

i haven't ever found it totally easy to conceive - weirdly exactly 6 months each time. Every time though i have included the waiting for hormonal contraceptives to stop working within that 6 months.

Millie was the most stressful because i have never wanted a baby this much before.

VS - mine leak but leave little marks in my bra; it doesn't leave wet bits everywhere yet. It is getitng worse though; last 2 pgs i have had breast pads on for at least 6 weeks so won't be far behind you.....i wonder if my milk would be 'good' for BF-ing? if so obvious already iyswim? or am i batty?

GOD i am bored.

sagitta · 15/02/2008 14:40

not as bored as me. I've been tidying for approx 10 minutes, and wishing I was back at work...

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 14:41

i am so bored i think my brain has died. i am very lonely too

PortAndLemon · 15/02/2008 14:42

Yes, because of the GD I've been advised (by bf specialists not by medical people) to try hand-expressing colostrum antenatally so that if DD's blood sugar drops after the birth she can be syringe-fed extra colostrum rather than being topped up with formula or sugar solution.

Of course, in an annoying twist of The Way Things Are I, who actually have a need for the stuff, have no leakage at all before birth (or didn't with DS, anyway) so I have no idea whether I'll be able to express any. So those of you who are leakers need to send me leaky boob vibes...

sagitta · 15/02/2008 14:43
  • sorry about that scorpio - why? Isn't it half term, with everyone there?
Mollyfloss · 15/02/2008 14:44

So I suppose just because you conceive easily one time doesn't mean that much for the next time, which means I will probably be trying top conceive again next December or January if I want my first two just to be 18 months apart because i'll probably be trying for more after that and I don't have loads of time if I want 4....

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 14:45

yes, the children are home but i mean adult company wise. haven't seen a friend all week, and DH is here tonight but gone @ 6am tomorrow until 11pm-ish Monday night. No plans or friends to see.

Just feel sorry for myself

When Millie is born i intend to make some new baby friends; i can't carry on being alone most of the time.

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 14:46

at thought of ttc again!!(though i know i want to) if i was going to, i would probably again by her first birthday.

TLSM · 15/02/2008 14:51

BOBBYDAZZLER From the Caravan of Crap! The last I heard from you you thought you were PG and then you disappeared so glad all is going well I had a right shakie start too lots of trips to the hospital and 4 bouts of bleeding but thank goodness the end is in sight! !

KnitterInTheNW · 15/02/2008 14:52

PAL, I asked the midwife last week about expressing colostrum and she said they neither advise or disadvise to do it. She said some ladies don't produce a drop til their baby is born and so worry beforehand, she did say that if you do have some then fine, but if not they'll just try to get the baby to feed more often if needed. I think I've read old mumsnet posts on the subject where the mum has lovingly expressed colostrum, frozen it, taken it to the hospital with them, only for the baby to devour it all in 2 mins flat and still needed to have a bit of top up anyway! I think I'm going to put on my birth plan that I want to try more frequent feeding first, and then only if formula top up is completely neccesary, only to be given with a syringe not a bottle.

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 14:54

i remember you too Bobby chuffed you with us too!

sagitta · 15/02/2008 14:54

me too, scorpio. I'm hoping to meet loads of people - haven't met a soul who lives here since we moved in September!
sorry about weekend - it'll be fine though, i'm sure.

Lennsuey · 15/02/2008 14:54

How many weeks are you girls with the leaky boobs? Mine don't appear to be doing anything yet other than feeling heavy!

EllieG · 15/02/2008 14:57

Poor scorpio - I had a mild panic at being all alone with baby after born the other day. I think am going to try to go to lots of groups and things, despite being a bit shy.

Hello bobbydazzler - I recognise your name from the TTC boards many moons ago, welcome back

I am very bored today and have done bugger all at work. A very unproductive day all round. Hey-ho.
DSD has a party and sleepover tomorrow night so me and DP are going out! Probably just to cinema but will get to see grown-up film! Very excited about spending some time together just us for a change.

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 14:58

i find it a little hard to make RL friends, though im not sure why. Some peole have said i come across a little stuck up; but i think its because im a bit shy? i like to suss things first iyswim? Also going to have to plan lots for summer. I NEED to learn to drive as well.

I won't be able to go to baby club all the time becuase in the hols Reilly will be here. I am going to book him in a leisure centre holiday club, so should really coincide the days so me and Mills can do that still.

I will survive the weekend. Can't help wondering more lately if im starting to get depression again.....i will wait unti l inext see MW in 3 weeks and if i still feel down i will mention it.

What is everyone else doing this weekend??

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 14:59

lennsuey - im 32 weeks today

EllieG · 15/02/2008 15:00

We love ya scorpio x Try not to get too down, and do speak to MW if feeling a bit blue.

scorpio1 · 15/02/2008 15:02

Ellie

The nearest childrens centre to me takes me about 20 mins walk to get to so will do alot there i think and remember to be more forward in talking.

TheMaskedPoster · 15/02/2008 15:07

G'day all - I can't believe there is another thread already ... I should really make more of an effort to keep up to date.

Baby is moving LOTS and growing LOTS lately and 'pushing' against my belly rather than kicking - if that makes sense.

Am off to by a birth (cheapo Argos yoga)ball tomorrow to bounce on whilst watching telly for the final 7 of so weeks - should be fun.

Still trying to decide what pram to buy - tis rather difficult with SOO many to choose from .

Also, am trying to be good and make lots of food for freezing, so the first couple of weeks after the birth I don't have to stress too much about cooking etc for the family. Does anyone have any wonderful recipes or ideas of foods to do (am doing the usual - cottage pie, stews, burgers, soups etc) TIA.

Hope all are well and I will try and catch up with all the conversations (although I usually fail miserably at this task ).

x

sagitta · 15/02/2008 15:08

It takes a bit of time - but everyone at the baby groups will be a bit shy - especially first time mums, scorpio, so it may be easier for you - they'll want lots of advice from you.

We are getting taken out for posh dinner tonight - the first time we've gone out locally since we moved! baby sitter and everything!

sagitta · 15/02/2008 15:09

TMP - put the local pizza place on speed dial
