DH put the kibosh on Paris in case anything happens ... we would have to name her Emilie, not Emilia!

You must get some strange calls, Ellie!

SuzeM · 27/02/2008 14:37

Go for it Scorpio!

sagitta · 27/02/2008 14:52

That seems a shame, Suze. I am off to france for easter - but I am probably due a bit later than you. It would have been nice for you to have a little holiday before LO comes...

EllieG · 27/02/2008 15:09

Oh how annoying suze. Shame it's not possible jsut to keep your legs crossed and hope for the best

SuzeM · 27/02/2008 15:13

I suggested that, Ellie! He got worried when I told him I couldn't get insurance.

PortAndLemon · 27/02/2008 15:16

Mollyfloss -- yes, I went when pregnant with DS and overall I agree with your assessment 100%. But I'm on maternity leave, and bored, and have a code that gets me cheap tickets, and I can go on Friday when it won't be so packed, so I think I may pop in. Someone may be selling something I want cheaply, I suppose...

Mollyfloss · 27/02/2008 15:18

Peachy: You should definitely be taking it easy. Is that the beginning of labour or just reall stong BH contractions?

Northeastmummy: Thanks for the tip on the TENS machine. The only reason I would take it off when I go to the hospital is if I go into the pool. I've heard if you take the TENS machine off for too long then it doesn't really do anything after you put it back on... (?)

I have to go to Paris tomorrow for work again, back on Friday, bloody hell. That's my last trip though.

SuzeM: Opera is a good are to stay in. Even better is the Marais (4th arrondissement) or over the other side of the river in the 5th or 6th. you could virtually walk to everything but Opera is still really central and that's exactly where Galeries Lafayette and Printemps (the other huge separtment store). I have tons of tips on Paris. You have my e-mail so if you want to know anything else, just give me a shout.

What earthquake are you all on about? I haven't read a newspaper or anything and I didn't feel a thing. Right must check a new website. I'm well and truly too engrossed in baby stuff and haven't got a clue what's going on in the rest of the world.

Mollyfloss · 27/02/2008 15:25

Talk about being completely out of it. Just read up on the earthquake. I've been working at home all morning and didn't think to look at the news. The thing is I woke up at just around the time of the quake but didn't notice a thing

northeastmummy · 27/02/2008 15:41

I think that's the problem Molly. You have to decide to ditch tens if you want to use the water - but if tens is working, how do you know the water will do the same (or better) job? It's easy for me because i'm not a fan of baths so I'm just going to steer clear of the water and stick with my tens which I know and love .

Suze - are you sure you can't get insurance? How many weeks will you be by then?

Love the idea of you REALLY freaking your neighbours out Scorpio. Make sure you let it all go!!

Mollyfloss · 27/02/2008 15:42

SuzeM: that's a shame about Paris. Still it might be a bit risky to go at Easter, just in case. You're due round mid-April, right? France is a great place to have a baby. You would have no problem if you went into labour and they would take really good care of you but still it would be quite stressful for you personally and then when you come out you wouldn't have any baby stuff with you like clothes, seat or buggy etc. I even enrolled myself in a hospital in Paris just in case but I'm not going anymore after Friday anyway so should be fine. You could always go after the baby is born. withe the Eurostar it's pretty easy.

PAL: Sure if you're bored, enjoy the baby show. Hopefully you'll pick up some bargains.

Right where is everyone else? I haven't been on all day and suddenly I'm the only one posting

Daily reminder: Do those Kegels!

SuzeM · 27/02/2008 15:54

I'd be 36 weeks on Easter Monday, maybe it is leaving it too late to go (Molly, I have also heard the French hospitals are great. My friend had her baby in Momtpellier and said the care was much better than in Ireland). I'll just have to go another time, not the end of the world.

SuzeM · 27/02/2008 15:55

That was supposed to be Montpelier.

SuzeM · 27/02/2008 15:56

Montpellier ... third time lucky

Mollyfloss · 27/02/2008 16:05

Ah well, hopefully you can go some time after the baby is born and you know there is good medical care there which is always nice to know when you are traveling with a little baby.

I'll be 37 weeks on Easter Sunday and we are thinking of going somewhere within an hour and a half of London for the weekend. Maybe you could do something like that?

SuzeM · 27/02/2008 16:13

I am due the day after you Molly, so I'll be just about 37 weeks, I am really losing it!

I just wanted one last child-free weekend in Paree, but never mind.

sagitta · 27/02/2008 16:16

I'm starting to get really scared about my trip now - I'll only be 34 or 35 weeks, but it'll be on my own with DD on the train all the way to Nice...tell me it'll be OK!

Mollyfloss · 27/02/2008 16:22

SuzeM: that's pregnancy brain for you! Really you should try to look into something not far from London, there are some really nice places not far...

Sagitta: You'll be fine! how long are you going for? Are you visiting friends or family?

Mollyfloss · 27/02/2008 16:24

NEM: re the TENS, you're right. If the TENS is going well then I probably wouldn't bother with the pool. I'm not sure how I feel about the pool anyway. On the one hand I like the water and could find it relaxing. On the other hand maybe on the day it's the last thing I will feel like. I think I'll only know how I feel once I go into labour. Still it's nice to have it as an option.

sagitta · 27/02/2008 16:35

Molly, it's easy really, as I'm going to stay with my parents. it's just the journey that's scaring me...12 hours on a train with DD, and luggage (and toys, and books and treats and snacks...)

KnitterInTheNW · 27/02/2008 16:42

Just got back from growth scan, and my little monkey is still breech. Humph, can you all please ask him nicely to make an effort to spin round to make me happy?! Doctor said if he was JUST breech or with JUST my diabetes they might be able to try natural birth, nut with both there's no chance and it'll just be a section. Annoying cos his growth is fairly normal and if he was the right way round it looks like we'd be fine with a natural birth.

On the up side, the ultrasound dept are having a 3D scan training session tomorrow, and the sonographer asked if I'd like to go back in the morning and be a guinea pig, cos he's wrong way up he'll be an interesting case and will be able to see his face well. Well, who am I to turn away a free 3D scan?!

At the scan today he has chubby cheeks and was really frowning, can't wait to see him again in the morning!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 27/02/2008 16:43

Ha ha Scorpio - you go girl! That should give them something to talk about hey!

Saggita - I am sure you will be fine and that it will be a pleasant train journey! Wish we were going to Nice.... sigh...

Molly - are you able to pre book your birthing pool? My hospital it is 1st come, 1st serve so whilst I would like a water birth there is no guarantee I will actually have one!

DH had day off today because we are getting our garden fence replaced and because he wanted to paint the LO's nursery! All done now - very excited to get home and check it all out!

northeastmummy · 27/02/2008 17:16

Oh no Knitter - that's rubbish. Can they not turn him? Great news about the 3D scan though. YOu were in the right place at the right time

Scorpio - just thought I'd let you know. Had RLT with sugar today and actually really enjoyed it!!

VictorianSqualor · 27/02/2008 18:30

Got my Gina Ford book today, DP has already started reading it saying WTF?

Peachy · 27/02/2008 19:09

Think your Dp ahs the right idea! (my copy last seen behinda sofa two houses ago LOL)

I'm a big bath fan (good job, we don't have a shower) but when i climbed into the big bath- as-big-as-a-pool at thospital with ds2 I hated it- felt really constricted and got out again quick! Love TENs though.

Back pains are starting agin- bath stopped them earlier. Like period pains. Know my cervix (TMI) is changing markedl;y so they're doings oemthing but- ouch!

rainbowdays · 27/02/2008 19:24

Hi all, I am sorry I am not going to be able to catch up with everyone here. I have been missing in action, due to being in hospital.

Last Tuesday I started having pains, so went to hospital to be checked and they would not let me out again , I had contractions stopping and starting, on Thursday night the contractions were less than two minutes apart and strong, so I was back on the labour ward, and the SCBU unit were on stand-by, and everyone thought I was heading for having this baby, but nope, a few painful hours later, it all began to slow down and came to a stop. Finally after a stop-start mix of braxton hicks and full blown contractions they let me on Saturday, as I was pleading with them to let me go. Ofcourse then ended up back on labour ward on sunday night!!!!!! Fortunately things seem to have calmed down and apart from contractions from irritible uterus when I move too fast then I am back to near normal general pg complaints!!

I have a 12 hour journey to go though on Friday to get home, so my dh is flying to travel with me "just in case" as everyone around me is nervous that I am going to pop at any second

Knitter - surely they can't be insisting on section this far in advance, baby has plenty of time to turn again yet?

Sagitta - of course it will be ok on long trip, I am 34weeks now and will do a trial of long trip for you, if I can do it you will do fine!!! I hope that you have a fantastic time with your parents.

Peachy - hope you did not overdo things today with uni, and that a miracle happens tonight and you get some extra sleep.

Scorpio - hope that you take it easy with your back, don't go mad.
