Hope this works - and someone finds it

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Piccalilli2 · 21/02/2008 13:49

I'm not sure why I didn't get one between 28 wks and 34 wks (should have had one at 32 surely??), then should have one at 34 weeks but mw is on holiday and didn't tell me this til it was too late for me to have the appointment at 33 weeks instead so have to wait til 35 wks. Baby was breech at last appointment so I'm dying to know whether she's turned - it feels like she has but can't be sure.

TheMaskedPoster · 21/02/2008 13:53

ahhh - so the usual story - overbooked midwifes and general NHS stuff. Yes, agree with waiting to find out if baby has moved postition etc - and just general peace of mind after seeing midwife etc.

babywhiting · 21/02/2008 13:54

i'm off to see mw next week bump dropped already and definately head down! can't wait for bump to arrive as would love some sleep only allowed to sleep on left side as right has inflamed blood vessels so sleep is limited.
have been looking at baby bouncers etc but not sure what to get this time had baby einstein stuff with ds in 2006 but heard fisher price rainforest is good or a doomoo bean bag! whats everyone else got?

scorpio1 · 21/02/2008 13:56

I'm seeing mine a week wednesday. will be 34+5. then she is coming to our house to do the homebirth chat, eek! DH is having time off work to do that with me

then 36 week(prob be same HB appt), 38, 40 week check. So, just 3 more appts becuase i wont make 40+5.

PortAndLemon · 21/02/2008 15:05

I had 34 week today, then have 36 week scan + consultant appointment, 38 week midwife, then apparently I'll have another hospital appointment at 39 weeks because it's just not enough appointments otherwise of my previous c-section. Presumably a 40-week appointment if I get that far (I didn't last time).

EllieG · 21/02/2008 15:29

Just been to see my friend with her twins in my lunch hour - they are soooooo sweet....I want mine!

Mollyfloss · 21/02/2008 15:32

Swimming was fab, really good for my back. I'm glad I went.

I take a pregnacare and a Boots combined omega 3, 6 & 9 every day. The Doctor said it's not absolutely necessary but can only do good. Pregnacare covers all the essential vitamins etc. and omega 3, 6 and 9 makes for a brainy baby (apparently). I don't feel like I have been getting enough fish throughout the pregnancy so it should help. I also try to eat seeds but don't think I do that enough either. A mixture of ground flax (linseed), sunflower, pumpkin & sesame are recommended.

I had the M&S caesar salad for lunch. The dressing has pasteurised eggs so it's allowed, it's quite delish and for once I craved something fairly healthy

All my clothes were either too tight or too itchy so I dragged by ass to Oxford street the other day and bought a couple of cheap bits and pieces to keep me going. I feel so much more comfy today

Oh yes and I am going to try to find a first aid baby class. I've heard you can do a 2 hour one and it is great for peace of mind to have an idea of what to do if ever...

What's baby gym?

EllieG · 21/02/2008 15:34

A sort of playmat with an arch thing with toys over the top. Don't need one straight away. I am hinting for it as a present.

VictorianSqualor · 21/02/2008 15:35

Just got back from the cinema I must be crackers.
Had to get the bus into the city, then a taxi from there to cinema, sit through fuck knows how long of Alvin and the Chipmunks whilst trying not to vomit at the smell of popcorn, in the taxi back to the city I'm sure I was getting contractions, but they calmed down when we went to McD's, I had about eight, roughly every ten minutes for about 30 seconds, was weird, thoguht I was going into labour in the middle of oxford city centre

Now I am soooo tired, I don't know how some of you ladies still work at this stage, you must be crazy.

Ellie, Scorpio is right, babies don't sleep longer when on solids, in fact are less likely to sleep if fed them too early as they can't digest it and end up with stomach pains.

You'll know when LO is ready for food anyway because they start grabbing it and trying to eat it, plus they lose the tongue reflex which until they are ready means when you put food in their mouth they push it straight back out with their tongue.

Mollyfloss · 21/02/2008 15:38

Thanks Ellie. Yes, I think I'll let someone else get that for me. I also heard that you don't need a bouncy chair straight away either as they are better off lying down flat for the first few weeks...

VictorianSqualor · 21/02/2008 15:41

I won't be botehring with a bouncy chair, not with tow others running about all over the place, I think baby will be safer either in it's sling or on a mat on the floor, I just know if I put it in a chair it'll get knocked out, DS did

I will however get a door bouncer when it is a bit older as both my two loved it.

Mollyfloss · 21/02/2008 15:53

Sorry, I'm obviously quite thick but what's a door bouncer?

Mollyfloss · 21/02/2008 15:53

Here's your daily reminder.... DO YOUR KEGELS!!!

scorpio1 · 21/02/2008 15:56

its a thing that grips to either side of the door frame...long springy bit and a little almost sling like pouch for baby-then they bounce up and down in it-its so funny!!

Mllie has a chair waiting, i find them so useful.

SuzeM · 21/02/2008 15:58

Molly, the person who is running my NCT class also arranges first aid classes for new parents (I'm doing it tonight and next Thursday night) do you want her details? She is in Fulham.

I am working until two weeks before my due date, anyone else working close to their edd?

EllieG · 21/02/2008 16:00

Scorpio - just found someone who knew but I think you might have found out - stakeholder is anyone who has a stake in paying for someone's care e.g. if local authority are paying x amount and family top it up to y amount makes them stakeholders.

I have a bouncy chair cos someone gave me one, is quite sweet looking with little bits for them to kick which make noises when they get older.

Very exciting about VS having contractions! Maybe you'll be the first to pop!

sagitta · 21/02/2008 16:02

Suze M - I'm working until one week after my DD . LO better be late!!!

scorpio1 · 21/02/2008 16:02

so its money involvent not emotional? Thanks!

i keep thinking im going in to labour as well, strong BH and big pressure feeling - though know i have at least 4 weeks to go;more like 6.

sagitta · 21/02/2008 16:02

I meant due date, not DD!

Mollyfloss · 21/02/2008 16:02

Oh that's a door bouncer, I love them, so cute!

SuzeM: I'd love the first aid contact!

EllieG · 21/02/2008 16:08

A guy at work who is brilliant photographer has jsut offered to do the photos for my wedding! Hurray! Am very excited cos the 'proper' photgrapher I spoke to quoted me a price of a grand, and was only talking about coming along for about an hour and a half for that. Hurray hurray hurray.

Am going to an NCT 'speed bumps' evening on monday - designed to meet other pg ladies apparently. I thought sounded nice but my mate won't go with me cos she says NCT mummies are too posh.

PortAndLemon · 21/02/2008 16:09

While handing out useful links, we should all check out Jessica's Trust (from a different MN thread). I know this is something I didn't know nearly enough about, and it's something every pregnant woman ought to be aware of the signs of.

Piccalilli2 · 21/02/2008 16:09

SuzeM I'm working til 37 weeks which feels quite close enough to my due date. I was vaguely considering staying on for another few days (my first week off is holiday not mat leave) but I'm just too knackered now - it's not work that's tiring as such, it's the constant rushing around to get dd to nursery, pick her up and fit in everything else around it.

Baby gyms are fab, dd loved hers. We also have a fairly basic bouncy chair and a Fisher Price swing which a friend gave me so she'll have a positive plethora of entertainment options. Dd likes swinging the swing quite hard though so we may have to save that til dd2 is a bit bigger.

Mollyfloss · 21/02/2008 16:14

NCT mummies are not too posh. I met some lovely down to earth women at my class this week and if you are going to find posh anywhere it's in SW London but they are really nice.

Thanks for the link PAL

EllieG · 21/02/2008 16:15

I'm working til 36 weeks, then annual leave, then maternity leave starts 3 days before due date. Want to stop now though....
