I know, I'm excited too but feel like I'd be more excited if I didn't feel cheated about having that bit taken away from me, IYSWIM.

Ignore me, I have a bee in my bonnet about the whole thing!

VictorianSqualor · 18/02/2008 12:43

Ellie, dp and I had a similar run in on saturday and i'm not even the step-parent. Because he is I often step back when he 'deals' with things, I might say to him later that I think he could've dealt with it better but I have had two kids already so I expect to know more.

Saturday, I gave the kids some grapes to sit down and watch a film with, he starts moaning and says they need them in a bowl (why are they less likely to spill a bowl than a bag????).

Anyway we ended up arguing over how apparently I make him look like a twit in front of them because I said they didnt need a bowl! Yet he is the one that always has to add a little rule to whatever I ask/tell them to do, can't just leave it be like I do with him, has to exert some control and make sure it's done 'Dad's way'.

So I don't think even that is anything to do with step-parenting, let alone her irritating you!

Sal22 · 18/02/2008 12:56

Good morning everyone. One of our friends had a baby this morning (or yesterday afternoon US time, so I only saw this morning) and I just saw the pics. Ah, he's so lovely and tiny and now I'm terribly broody and want mine NOW

Molly, I listened to the advise re painting (very occasionally I listen, honestly) and stuck to filling in hairline cracks - ooh, what an exciting life I seem to be leading... - figured less fumes there. So now DH has to do the painting once I've left the room, hehe.

Not that I know anything at all about kids, but Ellie, thought about you, hope you're feeling better.

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 12:57

my sister is going to be a trolley dolly for easyjet - they rang her about 20mins ago to say she got the job!!

We also get cheap flights now

EllieG · 18/02/2008 13:05

Thanks people. I feel like printing out your replies and leaving them strategically round the house!
Ex has just texted with the usual emotional blackmail. I cannot be arsed with him anymore and told him so. I really do think that after 2 years he needs to move on. Good grief.

I'm going to eat some cake.

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 13:13

my kids are driving me mad.

how against the law is it to lock them out ???

they appear to bouncing around off the walls!

i am going in my room in a mo to watch jeremy kyle wit htea and cake.

EllieG · 18/02/2008 13:25

I think it is, but personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it

Enjoy your cake. Is half term this week and I am loving the fact that it is DP, not me, who is at home today.

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 13:26

Reilly is back at school tomorrow; teacher training today.

Maybe he will have a nice day

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 13:27

your Dp i mean

VictorianSqualor · 18/02/2008 13:31

Half term here too, cot comes tomorrow!
I get my surestart grant tomorrow as well and the first thing I'm getting is my provisional licence, I want to be driving by september, how hard do you reckon that will be???

I'm fed up of paying nearly £200 a month to get DD to school.

SuzeM · 18/02/2008 13:31

Ellie, can you block your ex's number so that he can't annoy you?

I have pains on my lower right side, nothing too bad. I assume it is from the kicks! Little bully.

EllieG · 18/02/2008 13:31

It will be lovely probably, especially without mean ol' step-mummy grumbling in the corner spoiling things

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 13:33

Ellie stop being so hard on yourself

VS - i have had my provisional for ages but am too scared to learn our 2 year old car sits outside 5 days a week not being used have decided now though that i will start when Millie is born; my aim is before xmas.

VictorianSqualor · 18/02/2008 13:39

I've wanted to learn for years, we have 2 cars as well, one is always sat on the drive yet we pay a childminder for morning drop offs and I leave the house at 2pm, getting back at 4pm catching 4 buses to pick DD up!
It's ridiculous, but we actually worked it out in costs the other day and £200 is enough to motivate me!

TLSM · 18/02/2008 14:19

VS i did an intensive course over 5 days when i was 18 and passed my brother did the same a few years ago and also passed worth lookng into? get your provisional and get the written test over first i was the first year that had to do the written

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 14:43

VictorianSqualor · 18/02/2008 14:48

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 14:51

VictorianSqualor · 18/02/2008 14:56

EllieG · 18/02/2008 14:58

Have a virtual fag too.

Sorry you are feeling shitty - is Reilly playing up?

You are not a shit mum, you're a great one, just feeling a bit down. Take some of your own advice to me this morning lady! (((hugs)))

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 15:00

He is playing up big style lately - he is under assessment for dyspraxia and his behaviour tantrums fit the criteria too iyswim?

He hit me on my tummy have felt millie though, i know she prob didnt even know but still.

DH is home about 11pm.

VictorianSqualor · 18/02/2008 15:02

Put him in bed, it's what I do if I've had enoguh of them, especially if he's hit you.
I know the dyspraxia can make things ahrder but it doesnt mean you have to put up with it.
At least you can have a cuddle tonight

scorpio1 · 18/02/2008 15:04

he was in his room for ages with a big telling off. Poor millie was going nuts the amount of adrenaline in me!!

He has fallen asleep on the sofa now thank god. it makes him harder to reason with and harder to slow him down iyswim? little shit!

Looking so forward to a hug DH said yesterday that he misses hugs too; i said we must be really cuddly to notice it so much!
