Here's the new thread then....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fortnight · 10/12/2004 11:00

Congrats Georginars! You are lucky to have it over with now.
PP-I can sympathise with your efforts-I think I've tried them all by now, but not in the one day! I had a reflexology session yesterday, and as a result I was up from 2-4am with false labour pains, which came to nothing.I never had them with my other 2.Luckily I avoided going into hospital-I can see how it would happen,BW!Anyhow, dh is working today and ds has a birthday party to go to tomorrow,so I suppose I can wait another couple of days.Baby certainly isn't in any rush.

smellymelly · 10/12/2004 11:51

I've popped in to say 'Many Congrats' to those who have already had their babies, and thanks to those who have wished me luck on the Jan thread.

I'm being induced next Tues :o so I will have my babies before some of you!! I can't wait...

Hope you're not too Envy

Canadianmom · 10/12/2004 18:57

Thanks for all of your kind thoughs! We have moved back to Canada and I am feeling ready to think about trying again. (am I foolish or what?!!) I will continue to follow your progress. Sending labour thoughts your way!
Smellymelly: Best wishes for next Tuesday. I, for one am very Envy but hopefully my time will come soon. Can't wait to read the announcement.

scubamum2b · 11/12/2004 14:31

due date today - no sign baby has figured out exactly how to escape :o which I am quite happy about as it mean I can go out for Xmas meal tonight. 3/5 down engaged so is heading in the right direction.

MW will do a 'sweep' on Thurs if nothing has happened by then. Apart from it maybe uncomfortable are there any other downsides of a 'sweep'?

Jimjambells · 11/12/2004 15:10

Good luck smellymelly!

scubamum- might be worth checking that they'll let you out after a sweep. My hospital does but I know my cousin had one and then they wanted to keep her in. She flipped as they hadn't told her that before and she had 2 kids waiting to be picked up from school (she got out!) I'll be hving one on 5 Jan (!!!) if he hasn't arrived by then- the doctor said there can sometimes be a small amount of bledding afterwards.

cloudberry · 11/12/2004 20:04

Ha, found this at last...! thought I was going mad. I've just posted something on birth announcement thread so I'll keep it brief here but just to say that baby Cloudberry decided to make an early appearence on December 1. Hurray hurray. Got to go now crying baby summons me but wanted to let you know. xxx

hana · 11/12/2004 22:10

hana · 11/12/2004 22:12

another girl!!!!

scubamum2b · 12/12/2004 11:47

congrats cloudberry :o

so who is going to have the first boy in Dec?

Baby let have my Xmas meal last night, but now stocked up on pineapple to encourage an appearance.

One thing I was told last night was that I should not have spicy foods with chillis in, as it works against natural painkillers the body produces - was in an article by the new scientist on why Sth American women have more painful childbirths that women elsewhere. Glad I found that out as I am sure childbirth will be painful enough Shock

Jimjambells · 12/12/2004 18:39

Congrats cloudberry!

My friend who claims to have witchy feelings has told me she thinks number 3 is coming next Friday. But then she also said he's a girl, and scan 3 days later showed boy........

DS2 has given me his cough and I have strained all the muscles along my sides coughing and wrestling with ds1. Feeling very sorry for myself- it hurts like mad to cough. Also want to get rid of cough before I have to cope with stiches (although ds2 has had his for weeks- eeek!)

PotPourri · 12/12/2004 19:45

Woooohooo, congrats cloudberry. Another girl! What lovely news. I will need to go over to the birth announcements after this to hear all the details.

As you will have guessed, I'm still here. I am getting induced (like smellymelly) on Tuesday - good luck smellym! I have to go in tomorrow evening and stay overnight (I don't want to be on my own, and DH can't stay - but there's nothing else for it). To be honest, once I got to Friday night I just accepted that it's not coming by itself so have had a lovely lovely weekend with DH. We have just been enjoying being just a couple for the last time.

Scuba, I've had 2 sweeps and apart from feeling a bit uncomfortable (didn't hurt as such) I would recommend. It's quite natural as it just makes your body think the head is pushing down so triggers the next steps - it is usually very effective apparently. Obviously I am not a good example for any of the labour inducing techniques, but sex and a sweep are supposed to be the best ones.

Poor you jimjambells. Sad Make sure you eat lots of oranges to get your vit C up to fight that cough.

I think my clever little baby has finally gone back to the right position (it went back to back then back on my right hand side over the last two weeks - maybe bored- I knew it should have come out 2 weeks ago!). Had a curry and will have some lovin tonight to see if I can make it happen naturally - which would be much better than a lonely uncomfortable night in hospital. Therefore, I could really do with some labour vibes from you lovely December girls!

Good luck all! We're well and truly off the starting blocks now for December!

BTW, I have no reason to believe it as I did't have a 20 week scan, but think I will provide the first little boy (unless someone beats me to it today or tomorrow).

Jimjambells · 12/12/2004 20:16

labour vibes coming your way Potpourri- take some of that caulophylum 200 as well. I took my first dose of 30 yesterday.......

YORK · 12/12/2004 20:28

Sorry for intruding but I have to tell you my labour inducing tip as it worked 100% for me. It's a bit of reflexology that your dp's can do. It's very simple. On your big toe you have a print like you have on your fingers find the middle of the pattern that is like an arch and get dp to press as hard as he can with his thumb for as long as you can stand it and just keep repeating. It is supposed to make your uterus contract. Also do the same thing on the the inside part of your foot, in the middle but instead of keeping the pressure in one place move the thumb up. My dh did this the day before I had my dd. We did it in the afternoon and then just before I went to bed and 2 hours later I went in to labour!

PotPourri · 12/12/2004 20:39

York - thanks for the tip. DH being breifed as we speak!! Smile

RonnieTinselBaby · 12/12/2004 21:46

Wow - York, I think everyone on this thread is gonna try that Wink

YORK · 12/12/2004 21:51

You'll know when dp doing it right as it will make you scream because it hurts! Failing that just watch most haunted on living tv!

hana · 12/12/2004 22:19

lots of luck potpourri, will be thinking of you!

georginatheRednoSedreindeer · 13/12/2004 00:32

oh not very good at typing with one hand (grizzly baby in the other arm)....good luck with your inductions potpourri and smellymelly!
I'm beginning to forget about the labour now - too sleep deprived as my darling big greedy baby wants feeding all the time and won't sleep on her own or on her back - have had 2 dreadful nights with me in tears on the phone to the midwives at the hospital! Still, we're getting there and I did expect it to be a nightmare...She is so cute though. We've had visitors today and it was such fun showing her off!
Say hello to room E1 on the antenatal ward for me PotPourri! Wishing you loads of luck with it all and avid for news. We need some December boys!

BeachedWhale · 13/12/2004 09:38

Just wanted to say good luck with your induction Potpourri!

lilymum · 13/12/2004 10:27

jimjambells - sympathies on the cough. I had one in the 8th month with dd3 and it ruined my pelvic floor...

pp - good luck for tomorrow.

smellymelly - good luck for tomorrow too!

cloudberry - congratulations!!

Just been to SIL's wedding this weekend in Cambridge. Was really lovely, and wore black so hopefully had slimming effect, and didn't look too massive (yeah, right). dd1 and dd2 were 2 of her bridesmaids and looked gorgeous, so now that's out of the way, baby can come any time!

fortnight · 13/12/2004 12:54

Congrats Cloudberry-and early too,lucky youEnvy.
I am an emotional wreck at this stage,so my GP rang the hospital this morning when I was with her and I am going in tonight for prostin and whatever it takes tomorrow (snap PotPourri-and my feeling is for a little boy too, especially in view of all the girls so far!). I had hoped to avoid induction, but it doesn't look at all likely at this stage, and it is easier to sort out the babysitting situation for my others this way. So hopefully I will be back on here in a few days time with newsSmile.By the way,Scubamum, thanks for the advice about spicy food-I was going to have a curry this evening in a last ditch effort to start myself off,but now I think I'll have a pizza instead.

redshoedreindeer · 13/12/2004 13:57

Hi all

Jimjambells · 13/12/2004 14:34

Congrats redshoereindeer- another girl! Good luck fortnight!

Oh no lilymum- my pelvic floor is the only bit of me that's left intact :o Mind you I'm still coughing and sides are much more comfortable so maybe it was wrestling with ds1 that did it. Talking of which- have to go and pick him up from school so will be wrestling with him again in an hours time (he will not come in the house without a struggle now- it is such a pain).

RonnieTinselBaby · 13/12/2004 19:25

redshoedreindeer - congrats and you lucky thing

scubamum2b · 13/12/2004 22:12

congrats redshoedreindeer and another girl. But will the rest of you wait in line instead of jumping the queue!

Fortnight - spicy food ok, just not with chillis in
